Arrow Keys for scrolling

I always liked to use the arrow keys on the bottom right of the keyboard for scrolling down pages as I read long documents. For some reason this is not working in Firefox on my T520. Does anyone know of setting I can change to enable this?

  • How do i make the arrow scrolling go back to previous versions of firefox (arrow keys are scrolling to much)?

As I tend to use the arrow keys to scroll on my laptop as it is to hard to do it with the mouse. I like to be able to go one line of text at a time. When i updated to Firefox 10 i started to scroll 3 lines at a time. So i was wondering if there was anyway i can change it one line scroll or whether i should roll back a version?

I do not know of a way to do that. You can only set the scroll amount for the mouse wheel via the <b>mousewheel</b> prefs on the about:config page, but you can't do that for the keyboard navigation keys.

  • Why am I recently unable to use my mouse to scroll email topics or content?  I can only use the up and down arrows keys to scroll.

Why am I recently unable to use my mouse to scroll email topics or content?  I can only use the up and down arrows keys to scroll. I am able to use my mouse to scroll through internet searches.  It only seems to have affected my email messages.

    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Using arrow keys to scroll presets and library

    Hi
I'm wondering if it's possible to use the arrow keys to scroll up and down folders and presets?   I'm starting to get RSI from the mouse. Is there a way?
    I can't work out how.
    Gus

thanks.. that's really depressing news..  I'm so used to being able to scroll up and down the folders in explorer and Bridge that it makes no sense at all to have to click each folder with the mouse every time.  Awful.. Trying going through a long list of presets one by one..
Even in LR you can scroll the images along the bottom with the cursors. Why not the folders or presets?
why did the designers make such a departure knowing that most of their users would be coming from PS/explorer/bridge experience?
It's the same with keystrokes.. what happened to standards of usability and consistency?
is there a good reason for this?  I can't see one. Really fed up as I need the cataloguing features LR has but don't see myself enjoying using it at all.

  • 9.0 closes doc when I use arrow keys to scroll

I appreciate any and all help with this.  When I use the arrow keys to scroll down (usually on the second time I hit the down arrow it closes) the document it closes abruptly, I got the pdf from IBM
    Thanks,
    Erik.

yes right 9.1 gives more usability than the 9.0. you can page up and down option too to scroll. Its a benefit to use more advanced technology. enjoy it.

  • Why is there no support for up and down arrow keys when scrolling through presets in adobe raw

seems like it would be common sense to support such a basic function, especially when having to scroll through about 100+ different presets(VSCO Film). We need support for arrow keys so that it may be easier to compare colors much more quickly. Also the support for comparing 2 of the same images would be even more awesome, RAW image on left, and Presets on the right, or compare different presets to one another.

You can submit it as a feature rquest, then forget about and go back to your life.

  • Why can't I use the arrow keys to scroll up and down websites anymore?

When I'm on any website and I click anywhere in the website there is a blinking bar - sorry, don't know the technical term - like you would find in any new document waiting for the next character to appear to the left of it. It's almost as if FF - not the super-team - want me to add test to any page I find but it is just a weird mistake.
I assume it's because of this glitch (assuming) that when I go to press the up or down arrow keys it no longer cascades the screen smoothly like a parade of content; instead it just hops from top to middle to bottom and that's when it does anything. What gives?

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Advanced -> General section -> place Checkmark on '''Use Smooth Scrolling''' -> Remove Checkmark from '''Use AutoScrolling''' -> click OK
Check and tell if its working.

  • Frame 7 question - arrow keys / mouse scroll wheel don't work

    I have FrameMaker version 7.0p579.
I've not used FrameMaker for quite a while, but I know my arrow keys used to move graphic elements, but they don't now.  Perhaps it's because I now use USB mouse and keyboard?
One other question -- was the upgrade from version 7.0 to 7.1 (or 7.n) a free upgrade?  If so, where can I get it?

    Hallo Framers,
I have tried both FreeWheel and KatMouse for a few days.
    * Both work with Windows 7 (beta version which I happen to have at home) and XP; I have no access to Vista but I expect it is also OK.
    * KatMouse interferes with Firefox's "middle-click to open link in a new tab". However this can easily be disabled (Settings>WheelButton>NoneOfTheButtons)
    * Some graphic programs (CorelDraw for example) use the wheel for zooming; both interfere with this. However a single-click on the KatMouse icon disables/enables it.
    * FreeWheel is hard to find and it's not clear whether it's supported any more; KatMouse seems to be current.
On balance I recommend (and myself use) KatMouse.

  • Arrow keys for frame advancement

I am doing a corporate training video that is branded for our
company. It is integrated with video and slides. I have already set
everything up as far as navigating with buttons and now thanks to
Dave mouse clicks. The last thing I need is for the frames to be
advanced based on the left and right arrow key. From my research I
think the arrow keys are 123 and 124 but I am not sure which
handlers to use and if these are the right key mapping numbers for
    arrow keys. Thanks in advance!

For one thing, the 1st bit should NOT be on enterFrame. As
    Rob used in
his example, it should be in a MOVIE script and should take
    place before
you ever get to a place where it will be needed (like
    startMovie)
    on startMovie -- for instance
    the keyDownScript = "checkForKeys"
    end
What that does is tell Director to use the "checkForKeys"
    handler
whenever a key is pushed down. You don't want to do that
    every
enterFrame. It should only be done once. Then Director will
    know what
    to do.
The checkForKeys handler needs to be in a movie script. I
    can't tell by
your code if it is a movie script (which would be global for
    the whole
project) or a frame script, just for that frame.
If you do not want to have the keys react on some frames but
    you do want
them to work on others, you would need to code that in. One
    way is to
set the keyDownScript=VOID for frames that don't need it and
    reset it
    when it is needed.
Another way is to change the checkForKeys handler to deal
    with frame
numbers. This one will make the arrow keys work, but only if
    the
playhead is on frame 100 or higher:
    on checkForKeys
    if (the frame)<100 then pass
    case (the keyCode) of
123: go to the frame -1
    124: go to the frame + 1
    end case
    end

  • Up and Down Arrow Keys for  BasicComboPopup

How do I get the Up / Down Arrow Keys to work with the BasicComboPopup?
Could someone send me an example, which allows a user to use
the up and down arrow keys to select items in a BasicComboPopup?
    Thanks: Alex

How do I get the Up / Down Arrow Keys to work with the BasicComboPopup? With the example that I've provided you at the link shown below:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?thread=454021&forum=57&message=2069966
...it's impossible to trap the keyevents since the combobox is trapping all events! Because the popup's parent is not visible, these events end up in the bits bucket somewhere.
I'll tell you what you have to do (CAVEAT: it's still a bit tricky for beginner):
    1) Since a JComboBox is already set up to handle all the events that you need, use the BasicComboPopup created for the JComboBox instead of creating a new one like I showed you.
    2) Set the preferred size of the combo box to 0,0 and make it visible (nothing will be actually shown because of the size setting)
    3) set the location of the combo box to the same location of the component for which you want to display the popup to make it easier to show the popup
Now, the trick is that by nature, an up/down arrow key will fire an ActionEvent and you'll have to somehow disable that or pull some rabbits out of the hat to determine if the actionPerformed is caused by an arrow key, an Enter key, or a mouse click.
I'm sorta busy right now, so I'll let somebody else who is up to the challenge to tackle the problem for you.
    Cheers,
    ;o)

  • Cursor keys for scrolling in listbox (PnlTreeView)

    Hi everybody,
I have developed a plugin for InDesign CS2 that is based on one of the examples included with the SDK, namely the PanelTreeView example. My plugin connects to an Oracle database, interacts with a remote file storage repository, exports documents in various formats - all things that I added to the example which are working really fine, but I've as of yet been unable to add something that should be really easy. The SDK docs and existing threads here haven't revealed much that would help me, so here's what I would like to do:
If you've ever seen the PanelTreeView example, you'll know that it displays files (located in a folder) in a hierarchical tree (originally multiple levels deep, but in my own plugin only one level deep, though that doesn't matter). In order to scroll up and down in said tree, there is a scrollbar on the right of the treeView widget, just as you would expect, BUT: I'd like to be able to scroll up and down using the cursor keys. That is, when the user has selected an element in the tree and presses "Cursor Down", I want to selection focus to jump to the element below the one currently selected. And once I've reached the (visible) end of the treeView, I want it to scroll down as if the "down arrow" of the scrollbar was pressed. So all in all nothing special, only standard behaviour you have seen all over the place in zillions of apps.
The only question is: How do I achieve that? Any pointers to specific sections and / or examples in the SDK docs? I figure I need to implement some sort of keystroke handler that is only active when the user has focussed my treeView (as the cursor keys have other functions otherwise, like scrolling in the currently open document of something). Sounds easy, but where do I start?
Any hints would be very much appreciated! Big thank-you's to all of you in advance!
    Greetings,
    Nils

  • My down and up arrow buttons for scrolling don't work except on the firefox help page, it worked fine with chrome?

I had google chrome before I switched to firefox due to the obsessive popups on chrome. All of a sudden the up and down keys don't scroll up and down on web pages, the only one they work on is the firefox help page. Any thoughts?

  • Missing arrows for scrolling through tabs

I am missing the left and right arrow keys for scrolling through tabs. They show up in new windows, but not in restored windows.

The time it worked I completely closed all the "original restored" windows and made a new window with more than 11 tabs. This new window had the left/right arrows for scrolling through the tabs. They also appeared when I forced quit firefox and restored using session restore addon.
This is only happening to my previous sessions. Any new session is working fine.
    Also my os is mac.

Hello Angela. A bit of info often helps. Basic is machine type and OS version. Since you say "now not", presumably it used to, so what have you changed since it last worked? Does it still work in eg TextEdit (start/end of line)?
