Arrows in PS CS6 & CC?

I'm missing something here. I could make an arrow in Photoshop in PS CS5, and I know enough in PS CC to use the option-bar cogwheel icon (instead of the freeform shape tool) for arrows, but there's a step I've either forgotten or the sequence of steps has changed: I make a line with the line-shape tool, leave it selected,  then click on the cogwheel and get the dropdown "Arrowheads" menu. I customise the arrowhead shape. Meanwhile, the selected line shape on my image doesn't change. Nothing happens. I hit "return". Nothing still happens. What am I missing?  Meanwhile, I can use Illustrator for arrows, but I'd like to be able to do it in PS.

Dear Chris Cox:
Ah. You are right, of course. Thanks for the tip.

  • Arrows in Photoshop CS6

How do I draw and size arrows in CS6?

ISTR having problems when CS6 first came out.  You have to click on the little Cog icon in the Options bar.  I guess we all know what the cog means now, but I am not entirely sure how intuitive it was when you first encountered it.

  • How to draw an arrow in Photoshop CS6?

The Line Tool in Photoshop CS6 is radically different from that in PSCS5.  I have used Photoshop almost daily for years, yet I haven't been able to figure this out.  Any help out there?

It just looks different. but the functionality is still there.  Look here:

  • How to change the presets in pop-up menus (CS6 or CR 7, example Photo Filter) with arrow keys?

How to change the presets in pop-up menus (CS6 or CR 7, example Photo Filter) with arrow keys an see at the same time the changes on the photo?
It worked under Windows, now I use OS 10.8 and have to apply a preset with a click or Return button but after that the pop-up menu close so I have to open it once again to change a preset. Please help. Thank you!

The filter panel is a shortcut for the content panel and it only effects the content of that window. So if you have a folder it will only see this as a folder and not with its content. (a Stack behaves about the same, being different in only counting the first file in the filter panel criteria but not what is in the stack itself)
You have a view work arounds, first is use menu view / show items from subfolders (this can take some time especially if you have not used caching before on this content) and this builds visible thumbs for all content and that can be used for filtering.
Or use the find command (Edit / find) and inhere specify the source and fill in the criteria include subfolders and this will give you the correct result.
When you create a smart collection the find command also pops up given you the same opportunity to get the results in a collection, but since a collection is only a bunch of aliases referring to the originals you might be a bit careful with editing and deleting.

  • Why do arrow keys stop working with type in CS6

I searched this issue and found many forums discussing the topic, but no solution. When using PS CS6, the arrow keys randomly stop working when navigating around in text. This is extremely frustrating. Per other discussions, and my experience, there doesn't seem to be a constant trigger. Saving the PS file when it happens SEEMS to fix it - at least temporarily. It's been happening off and on since I upgraded.
Adobe reps (they're say "employee") monitoring the photoshop.com forums suggested the fix is to close all other apps. No one works that way. Chrome (or other browsers) were speculated to be the cause. but I just had this happen without any browser open.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. It's the simple things that cause the most frustration.
    Sysytem details:
    CS6 upgrade form CS5 Premium
    Lion 10.7.4 / 16G / i7 Intel
    Safari / Chrome
    MS Office
    Mac Mail
    FontAgent Pro

Nobody suggested that closing other apps was fix - that was just a test to determine which apps were causing problems with event handling that prevented Photoshop from correctly handling the key events.
And if there were already posts on this topic, why did you create a new topic on the same thing?

  • CS6 Bridge, Arrow keys are slow

I'm on a Mac Pro, quad core, 9 GB memory. I have been using CS5 for all my photo work and use Bridge and ACR to do all of my editing. I have set up two monitors with content on the right screen as thumbnails and preview (and other tabs) on the left screen. To do my edits I use the right/left arrow keys to scroll through the images (and then make my picks/ratings) as I go.
I just installed CS6 Demo and am trying to do the same thing...everything else works normally but the right/left arrow keys (moving from image to image) now takes 4 to 5 seconds to bring up the image (CS5 was instant).
All paramaters/settings/preferences are the same. I know CS6 needs a more powerful video card (mine is only 256 mb...I will be upgrading soon)...but here's the weird thing which leads me to believe that's not the problem...the up and down arrow keys work normally, i.e. they go from image to image instantly. I edit folders of images that range from 200 to 300, up to 1500 images from a shoot on a daily basis so I need this to work for me! Any suggestions/ideas?
Also, I'm having problems trying to run a batch in CS6, I set up an action identical to what I had running in CS5 (embedding a text logo on an image) and while it goes through the process of doing the action, at the end it pops up an error message and lists all the images saying it could not process the request. Weird or what?

Not really.  Mine is instant, have a low to med qual. video card with 1 gig Vram.
Not sure why up and down is different than right to left, but always possible different sub routine.

  • [CS6] Reverting the cursors which now have arrows in the top left corner. (like the lasso)

    Hello there,
I've been using photoshop CS6 since it came out of beta, and I've been happy with 99% of the interface changes, except for some of the the new tool cursors which now have arrows in the upper left corner. I've been meaning to post this a while ago, but it seemed that the forums were offline.
One example is the crop tool, but what mainly hinders me are the lassos and paint bucket cursor icons. Is there any way I can replace those with the original ones from cs5 and prior?
When you pick up a tool, and it has an icon of an object (i.e. a lasso), your instinct is to look at and use the tip of that object, not some little black arrow in a corner.
For example, you wouldn't want to have an arrow next to your text cursor, or next to your magic wand cursor, would you? You'd want to use the tip of the wand.
I'm not sure what part of the user community suggested these little arrows be added on those tools, but I find it to be a bad design idea. And it's an annoying choice imo, beacause it doesn't make sense from an interaction design point of view, and not because it would be hard for me to get wrid of my habit of using the tip of the lasso, and to get used to the arrow instead. It's bad, because now, there are two conflicting pointers in the same tool: the icon tip and the arrow tip.
    Cheers!
[EDIT] I'm sure people will say that they prefer the new design, arguing about "design consistency" and whatnot. So this is why I ask if there's a way for me to replace the cursors in my photoshop, not everyone's.

    Hey Noel -
I definitely appreciate your perspective on this.  In frustration, I did a google search to see if anyone else was bothered by this change, and that's how I found this thread.  I'm happy to adapt, and I realize that Adobe has invested a huge amount of resources in perfecting their products with every rev - but I also know that customer voices are (or should be) an important part of that process.  On the off-chance that some small usability issue got overlooked in the vast number of considerations that Adobe designers and developers have to make throughout their process - I thought it might be a good idea to be heard on the matter.
I hope that's not close minded.  But it's always possible that I have a hole in my head.

  • Shift-Arrow in Curves adjustment layer CS6

In previous verions of Photoshop, when I made a curves adjustment layer, selected the midpoint, then did a shift-arrow adjusstment, it was always in increments of 10. Now in CS6, it is 12 on my machine, 13 and 14 on the two other machines in the office I have checked. Why would that be? Can that be changed so it is 10 again?
FYI - this is all in RGB mode if that matters.

What operating system are you using?
    Mac OS 10.6.8
    What version of photoshop cs6?
Not really sure. Will have to check when I get back into the office in the morning.
Maybe you could clarify or show a screenshot of where on the curve in the curves adjustment adjustment panel your placing the "midpoint"
On the RGB curve, the midpoint is 128, but the same thing actually holds true at the 1/4 point and the 3/4 point.
Are you using the light or pigment graph in the curves panel?
Some one person has the histogram in the curves window, but other people do not
If you don't press the shift key do the points move in increments of one?
    Yes
All i can say is it seems to work on windows 7 x64 and photoshop cs6 extended 13.01.1
(increments of 10 with Shift-arrow keys)
Well, that helps. Lets me know that it is not normal.
FYI - if I do the same thing directly on the image (Command-M), and not on an adjustment layer, the increments do go by 10. That's gotta be a clue, doesn't it?

  • Unable to Locate Bridge CS6 for Download.  All I See Is the CC Version, which  Never Works Well With My School Assignments.  Please Tell Me Where I Go to Find this Cuz the PullDown Arrow Is No Longer Available.  BTW - I Didn't See It Listed Under Previous

All I See Is the CC Version, which  Never Works Well With My School Assignments.  Please Tell Me Where I Go to Find this Cuz the PullDown Arrow Is No Longer Available.  BTW - I Didn't See It Listed Under Previous Versions Either.
    thanks!

Lyleb64687719 have you utilized the steps listed in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html to verify the Creative Suite 6 version was not available?  What type of a Creative Cloud membership do you have?
You can also download the Creative Suite 6 installation files from Download CS6 products.  Installing any of the applications or suites which include Bridge CS6 should allow Bridge CS6 to install.

  • CS6: No more Left and right arrow in the timeline

    Hi everyone,
Adobe removed the left and right arrows in the timeline. I don't understand why because it was a functionnality that I was finding very convenient when comes the time you have to move accurately in a zoomed timeline. The moving bar doesn't work very well in this kind of situation.
Do you now if there is a convenient way to do the same wihtout these left and right arrows ?
    Thanks

If you are referring to these arrows in the CS5 interface:
They have been removed in CS6:
    note:
If you're new to CS6 from CS5, just wait until you try to select
a transition vs. a cut point in the Timeline.

  • CS6 Nudge Arrows Won't Work

I just bought CS6 and upgraded to Mac 10.8.3. I don't know which is the culprit, but my arrows in Ilustrator will no longer nudge anything. Does anyone have an answer? This is frustrating!
    Thanksssssss
    Dian

    Dian,
If you have a (reasonable) preference value, it may be worth looking at preferences or disturbance from other applications.
You may try to Move the folder or Other options
Move the folder is reversible (you may also use Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup, but that is irreversible.
In Other options, the usual suspects are listen in Item 7).

  • I keep losing my Selection arrow functionalities on documents I've converted from CS2 to CS6. I reinstall preferences and it works for a few minutes but all is lost again. What to do?

I keep losing my Selection arrow functionalities on documents I've converted from CS2 to CS6. I reinstall preferences and it works for a few minutes but all is lost again. What to do?

    What OS?
Id you still have CS2 installed someplace, export the original files as .inx (InDesign Interchange) and convert that instead of the .indd.

  • Photoshop CS6 Type tool kills arrow keys

When using the standard type tool, periodically, the keyboard arrow keys will not work. You can manually change your selection point, but not by using the left of right arrow.

i need to test and see if up and down work.
but these folks seem to have the same issue:

  • Move Gradient fill with mouse arrow cs6 PS

When I fill a shape with the styles blending option, I can actually move that gradient up or down with the mouse arrow on my actual layer on my project which is nice.
However when using the shape tool palate at the top left of the photoshop screen see screen shot, I can fill this same layer with a gradient there, however I don't see where or how to move the gradient this way with the mouse.
Does this work on both options? or just the blending option styles way?

You can't move the gradient with the options bar gradient drop-down, but you can edit and move the gradient by bringing up the Gradient Fill dialog.

  • Where can i find a dutch manual for photoshop cs6

    Hi,
I'm trying to find the dutch manual for Photoshop CS6.
There is a hyperlink available on this page Help bij Photoshop | Archief called Help bij Adobe Photoshop CS5 (PDF), but if I follow this I end up on an "error page" in English telling me that the requested page isn't available.
Can someone provide me with this PDF-file please?
I can download this PDF in English, but it would be so much easier for me to read and understand the subject matter in Dutch.
So, is there anybody out there who can send it to me?
    Thanks!
    Michael

You should ask in Photoshop General Discussion
