Arrows in the dot column

I expect (hope) this is a really stupid question.
In the dot column of my sent mail folder (MobileMe IMAP), a few of my messages have a horizontal arrow pointing to the right.
What does this signify?
It is definitely not that my message is a reply to an incoming message, as the vast majority of my sent messages are replies, but only a few have the horizontal arrow.
Similar separate question: I just noticed that in my inbox there is a message to which I have definitely replied. The reply is in my sent box, and clearly shows the original message to which I was replying in the body of the message. But there is no circular arrow next to it in my inbox, which there is for all the other messages to which I have replied.
Thanks for any help.

Straight arrow means you have forwarded that message to someone. However, I have noticed that if I reply AND forward the same message, only the forward arrow shows up. I have not tried to experiment by first forward and then reply. Maybe it just shows the last action.
As regards no circular arrows perhaps someone else might answer as cannot think of anything right now.

  • How to display the sorting arrows in the table column header

    Hi
    I am doing a sorting for some columns from the click of the table column headers, In Developer studio, we are able to view the up and down arrows, I need that also to be made visible at run time, so that the user knows that there exists sorting based on that particular column. Is there any other way of doing it ? I cant place more than one control on the header or wrap the text to two lines..also. please clarify. thanks

    I assume you are using NW 04.
    The table column header contains a IWDCaption element which may display an icon and a text. See property IWDCaption.imageSource.
    The table tutorial might also be helpful.

  • The up and down arrows for the Finder columns are difficult to bring into view - any way to make them easier or permanent?

    Hi -
    My husband works with multi-level folders, each with way more content than will fit on the screen.  He says that he can't get the up and down arrows to show up when he is looking for a file in Finder, or wanting to move or copy files to another folder several layers up.  They will apparently show up at times, but if he isn't fast enough, they disappear before he can get his mouse over to them.  He cannot use a Magic Mouse or a touchpad, which would solve the problem with finger gestures.  He thinks this happened when I put Lion on our computers several months ago.  My own files are not so extensive, and I can use a Magic Mouse, so I haven't noticed any problem.
    Was there a change in Lion - assuming that finger gestures would replace the up and down arrows onscreen?  Is there a workaround to get this functionality back?
    Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

    Canon cameras don't play will with other FireWire devices on the same bus. You could try disconnecting the WD drive and connecting the camera directly to the computer without and capturing to the internal drive. It should be fast enough for DV.
    One probably is that your version of FCE is not supported on the version of the OS you are running. The last version I think that works with that software is 10.4.10 or earlier.

     Hi
     I looked at the specs for your laptop and there is no HDMI out port for this model but RGB & Headphones out jack should work. Here is the link for closeup views of the ports.

  • PowerView option - Drill Down one level at a time also hide the columns other than the hierarchy columns

    Hi All,
    I have a simple PowerView report (Excel 2013) in which I have a hierarchy (three columns), an image column, and a Value column:
    When I change the Show Levels option to "Rows - Enable Drill Down One Level at a Time", image column also hide.
    I want to keep the image column displayed while drill down/up to the hierarchy.
    Is it possible? If yes, then how?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Muhammad Ehsan

    Hi Muhammad,
    According to your description, you have images at child level. Now you want to have the images displayed when have the child level items collapsed. Right?
    In this scenario, when you show the data in a matrix in Power View, those images, Size ID and Prices have been added into a child group. If we enable drill down, all the items within the child group will be collapsed. We can't change it at all in Power
    View.
    For your requirement, we suggest you design your report using SQL Server Data Tools in Reporting Services. In Reporting Services, we can have specific columns toggled by the parent item.

  • In windows 8 how do you make the bookmarks column "flexible"? I used to be able to make it narrower.

    Windows 8 how do you make the bookmarks column "flexible"?

    Is the problem with the Bookmarks Sidebar -- the one you can open and close by pressing Ctrl+b? It does seem to have a minimum width and won't get narrower than that, but I'm not sure whether you are running into that limitation or whether for some reason you are not getting the resizing arrow when you mouse over the thin border between the sidebar and the page.

  • How do I increase the width of the first column in the Terminal ls -l command?

    I am now running 10.9.x, but I've experienced the problem described in the question over the last several iterations of OS X.
    I use bash as my interactive shell. When I display the "ls -l" command in Terminal the output is often very difficult for me to scan, because the columns in which are displayed the several fields of the records for the listed files are misaligned (different left-hand first-letter starting points for left-aligned text-valued fields; different right-hand low-digit alignment of numerical fields).
    When I look more closely at the mess displayed in my Terminal window, it appears that the cause of the problem may be that no minimum width, or an inadequate minimum width, has somewhere been set or defined for the first column of each record, containing the file's "mode" string (permissions, etc.); for all records in which this string is of equal length, the succeeding columns for all fields in those records are themselves aligned.
    It has not always been thus for me in the Terminal with OS X, or else I might not dream that the world could be a better place in this one respect. But if I launch an interactive csh-shell instead of bash in Mavericks today, the columns of the ls -l command there align no better.
    I've found no help in the Unix man pages for the ls command. There is a COLUMNS environment  variable whose value is supposed to be used by the ls command to set the width of every column displayed, but this is not what I want to do, and in my shell "ls -l" seems to ignore the exported variable anyway.
    There is also an LS_COLWIDTHS environment variable that is described as setting column widths on a field-by-field basis, at least for some fields, but the the mode column is not included among those whose width is supposed to be adjustable, and my shell seems to ignore the value of this variable as well.
    I've looked in my rather simple ~/.profile and ~/.bashrc files for anything that I might plausibly suspect of producing or perpetuating this behavior, but there is nothing there. Any suggestions about how to remedy this problem?
    Randy Miller

    John,
    I would like you to perform a safe boot. On reboot, press and hold the shift key at the chime, until the grey horizontal bar appears. After you type in your password, press and hold the shift key again, then click the right arrow to login, and release the shift key when your desktop appears. Move the contents of your local ~/Library/Caches into the Trash. Reboot normally. Empty your Trash.
    Re-evaluate your Terminal behavior. If it now works ok, great. Otherwise, here are a sequence of screen shots of my Terminal preferences for comparison. I can use both Courier fonts without formatting issues. Click to enlarge. I use the free IR Black Terminal theme as a personal choice in OS X 10.9.4. In my ~/.bashrc file (triggered from ~/.bash_profile), I export TERM=xterm-256color, and invoke /usr/bin/tput init. Click on the following images to enlarge.

  • How can i select the next column instead of next row when press enter key

    I need to know how can i select the next column instead of next row when i press the enter key.By default ,when i press enter key the next row is selected and the column remain unchanged but I wants opposite that is the row should remain unchanged but column index will changed.
    Thanks to all.

    Well, the right arrow key will already move you to the next column, so the easiest way to do this is to modify the InputMap to have the Enter key invoke the same Action as the right arrow key.
    You can search the forum for my "Table Actions" (without the space) example that will show you how to do this.

  • When resizing columns in JTable the last columns disappear

    I have a problem. I created a JTable and I set the AutoResizeMode to AUTO_RESIZE_NEXT_COLUMN in order for the columns to fill the whole panel. I added the table to a JScrollPane. when I resize the columns, the other columns start to adjust in size to fit the data grid, but it gets to a point where the columns scroll out view. is there a way to stop the other columns from moving when I resize one of the columns. I dont want the horizontal bars to show.

    When your mouse pointer is over a movable area, the mouse pointer should turn into a double-arrow. If you notice that after dragging and releasing the mouse, the mouse pointer ''stays'' a double arrow, try positioning the mouse pointer where you want the new boundary and click again. The mouse pointer should change back to a standard pointer.
    Does that work?
    (This suggestion is based on behavior I've seen with some Infragistics ASP.Net controls in IE8.)

  • The entries in the Fields column are too far apart.

    The Fields column on the left has the entries really far apart, so when I need to arrange the field order I have to do a lot of scrolling up and down. The arrow you click to expand or collapse the list is super magnified, though it still functions. It hasn't always been this way, but I must've done something to cause this change. How can I reverse this? Thanks.

    I am having the same problem. It seemed to start after updating to 9.5.1. Adobe support will not address this question as they are not supporting this version anymore! ARGH! If anyone knows how to fix, please share!!

  • Little arrows by the side of music and playlists

    Does anyone know how to remove those little arrows in iTunes 8? I could get rid of them in older versions but in the new version i can find that option. Does anyone know if its still available and how to do it? Thanks

    To remove the genre column on windows:
    1) Shutdown iTunes
    2) Backup your prefs file
    C:\Users\(youruser)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml
    3) Edit the file in a real text editor that understands UNIX linefeeds (notepad++, ultraedit, vi, etc) and paste the following lines below the <dict> line under <key>User Preferences</key>:
    <key>show-genre-when-browsing</key>
    <data>
    AA==
    </data>
    4) Start iTunes and you should be set.
    If anyone wants to reprint this feel free, just give the guy below credit.

    To turn off the annoying store arrow links, paste in this:
    <key>show-store-arrow-links</key>
    <data>
    AA==
    </data>
    Note: If you can't find where it says, "User Preferences", then do a "ctrl f" on it and it should take you right there. Oh, one more thing. Once you find the .xml file in my computer, just right click on it and select "edit". Once your done inputting the file, save it. and reopen windows. I just did it and it works perfectly.

  • Meaning of the "dot" or "bullet" in list views?

    I've noticed that sometimes a dot or bullet (•) pops up to the left of items on the Site Organizer pane. And in the Entries section of a blog page there is a "dot column" (the leftmost) where the dots may also appear. These dots are synchronized: whenever there's a dot on an entry, the dot appears also on the Site Organizer pane.
    These dots seem to dissapear whenever iWeb "checks" or connects with .Mac, but I haven't figured out their true meaning —new comments, maybe?
    Does anyone know what do they stand for? Thanks.

    Okay, I found the answer myself through a thorough read of the "Getting Started" guide. On page 17 it reads:
    Tip: When comments are added to your site, a blue dot appears in the iWeb site organizer, next to the blog page (if you are connected to the Internet).
    So my first hunch was right: the dots serve as "new comment" flags.
