Artboard Center Point

I am using Illustrator CS6 (v16.0.3) to edit SVG files. I set the artboard center point to x= 511.5 and y= -325.5 and save as SVG. But when I reopen the file, the artboard center point x-axis consistently shifts to 249.5. What is causing the center point to move?

Is there any quick 'n easy way to set my rulers zero point to the center of my artboard?
No.
And is the Grid based on the ruler zero point or the top left edge of the artboard?
Based on the ruler origin, which by default is lower left, not top left.

  • AppleScript to change artboard reference point? CS5

    Hi,
    I'm very new to scripting - just stumbled across it as I was researching tools to tackle an extremely repetitive project. One of the functions I should very much like to automate is changing the artboard reference point to top-left and then set the x and y values to 0. Is this possible? I couldn't seem to get it to record or insert into an action.
    Thank you so much in advance!

    @Mark – and here an overview of all available options:
    AnchorPoint.BOTTOM_CENTER_ANCHOR
    The center point on the bottom of the bounding box.
    AnchorPoint.BOTTOM_LEFT_ANCHOR
    The bottom left corner.
    AnchorPoint.BOTTOM_RIGHT_ANCHOR
    The bottom right corner.
    AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR
    The center point in the bounding box.
    AnchorPoint.LEFT_CENTER_ANCHOR
    The center point on the left side of the bounding box.
    AnchorPoint.RIGHT_CENTER_ANCHOR
    The center point on the right side of the bounding box.
    AnchorPoint.TOP_CENTER_ANCHOR
    The center point on the top of the bounding box.
    AnchorPoint.TOP_LEFT_ANCHOR
    The top left corner.
    AnchorPoint.TOP_RIGHT_ANCHOR
    The top right corner.

  • Default rotate to object group center not artboard center

    I'm sure this is mind-numbingly obvious and I am overlooking it, but when I go to use the rotate tool, the center point of the rotation is defaulting to the center of the artboard, not the selected group of objects. How do I change that to default to rotating on the selection center by default?
    Thanks in advance!
    Richard
    PS. This is Illustrator CC (17.0.2) on a Mac running 10.9, if that is relevant.

    rcbmoose,
    As I (mis)understand it (differently from tman), it sounds like a corruption or something (hopefully not a bug, which should have been detected earlier, I believe).
    Unless solved otherwise, you may try the following (you may have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps (the following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file; 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences):
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder Other options (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • How to make shape rotation at it's center point?

    I draw a shape,like follows:
    var shape1:Shape;
    shape1=draw();
    addChild(shape1);
    shape1.rotation=50;
    private function draw():Shape{
       var shape:Shape = new Shape();
       shape.graphics.beginFill(0x00FFFF);
       shape.graphics.moveTo(200,200);
       shape.graphics.lineTo(300, 202);
       shape.graphics.lineTo(200, 204);
       shape.graphics.lineTo(100, 202);
       shape.graphics.lineTo(200, 200);
       return shape;
    Then I want to rotate the shape at it's center point(200,202) by using shape1.rotation=50,but I find the shape don't rotate at the the center of it's shape. How to realize the function which make shape rotate at its center point?
    Thanks

    Here is a sample to make it rotate from center:
    var sprite:Sprite=new Sprite();
    sprite.graphics.lineStyle(3,0x00ff00);
    sprite.graphics.beginFill(0x0000FF);
    sprite.graphics.moveTo(0,0);
    sprite.graphics.lineTo(100,0);
    sprite.graphics.lineTo(100,100);
    sprite.graphics.lineTo(0,100);
    sprite.graphics.lineTo(0,0);
    sprite.graphics.endFill();
    var mc:Sprite=new Sprite();
    mc.addChild(sprite);
    //This will make the sprite to center
    mc.getChildAt(0).x=-(mc.getChildAt(0).width/2);
    mc.getChildAt(0).y=-(mc.getChildAt(0).height/2);
    addChild(mc);
    mc.x=200;
    mc.y=300;
    //Now it rotates from the center.
    mc.rotation=20;

  • Motion Tab Settings & Center Point

    Working in Final Cut Express HD, I am trying to use wireframes and the motion tab setting to run a series of cropped clips in a "box" in the corner of the screen. I do this by reducing Scale and Crop Left and Right to certain, set values. But since i am cropping different parts of different clips, I need to figure out what the Center Point settings should be for each one so that the "box" is always in the exact same spot on the screen -- even as it cuts from clip to clip inside the box. Using the naked eye to place the frame on a grid is not precise enough...
    In other words, if I am cropping 25 off the left in one clip, and 15 left and 10 right on another, I need to know how many "Center Point" coordinates equate to 1 "Crop" point in those Motion Tab settings to make it fit exactly.
    Any ideas or help would be GREATLY appreciated! Many thanks.

    But doesn't that ONLY work if each and every clip is cropped in exactly the same way? In other words, if a "box" is 50% wide and 100% tall, and i use one clip that takes the left 50% and then use another clip that uses the right 50%...and I want them both to places in the upper left corner of the screen, won't they have different X and Y center points?

  • Can I change the center point for a motion scale

    I would like to motion scale an image with the center for the scaling at the bottom of the image, not the center of the image. I tried changing the anchor point numbers, but that moves the photo as well.

    Try setting the Anchor Point - NOT the Center Point. The Ccenter Point is where the center of the image will be; the Anchor Point is the point at which the image is anchored.

  • Working with a center point

    How is the Center Point used in CS5 when working with transformation tools? What types of things can be done with it?
    Thanks.

    When transforming one can just drag the Reference Point from its
    position in the center of the transformation-rectangle (it might be
    hard to see depending on the image).
    Or it you want to have it at one of the corners or middles of sides
    you can switch it in the Options bar.
    As to the benefits: When one wants to scale radially(alt-shift) from
    another than the oroginal center-position this allows for such a
    transfromation – for example if one has to recreate a lores-montage
    with high-res data it can be easier to line up one single element of a
    semi-transparent SO with the layout and then scale from that point
    until congruence is achieved.

  • Moving the center point of an image

    I'm not sure I understand why you would want to move the center point of an image, and rotate the image based on the new location of the moved center point? Can anyone give me an example why you might do this?
    Thanks.

    When aligning different images (for example to combine persons from different shots) I often find it convenient to align a specific feature (like an eye) of two such elements and then scale the one that’s to be adjusted based on that reference point.
    Same when I use the ground-plane as reference: the SO might extend farther than the point where the element touches the ground to accommodate shadows or reflections so just dragging out from one of the lower points may not be ideal.
    Edit: Sorry, I had overlooked that you specified Rotations in your question; what I mentioned may naturally include rotations but is usually more focused on Scaling.

  • Ability to move an object's Center Point

    I'd like to be able to move an object's Center Point, much like you can in Corel Draw and also with Anchor Points in After Effects.
    This would super handy when rotating multiple objects around a common point.
    I realize this would mess things up for things like Scaling, and really mess them up for Skewing.
    Maybe a "Rotation Point" could be added?
    You could have a Preference setting to enable/disable this.
    Maybe a new Tool to do just that, like AE's Pan Behind Tool.
    Or maybe, probably more sensible, a key modifier when using the White Arrow Tool.

    AS3 doesn't have a mechanism to determine or change
    registration point (at least to my knowledge).
    The way around it is to use DisplayObject.getBounds or
    DisplayObject.getRect methods that return rectangles. x and y
    properties of the rectangle will show if there is a shift relative
    to 0 from which one can deduce a registration point.
    Hope it helps.

  • Center Points

    1.) Can someone give me an example of why you would want to
    move the
    center point in a symbol?
    2.) Is it a better idea to move the center point for an
    instance and not
    the actual symbol?
    Thanks.

    SDO_GEOM.SDO_CENTROID(

    Description
    Returns a point geometry that is the centroid of a polygon, multipolygon, point, or point cluster. (The centroid is also known as the "center of gravity.")
    For an input geometry consisting of multiple objects, the result is weighted by the area of each polygon in the geometry objects. If the geometry objects are a mixture of polygons and points, the points are not used in the calculation of the centroid. If the geometry objects are all points, the points have equal weight.

  • Center Points for Mapping - MOTN3

    I am sending a camera down a polka dot road to end up revealing text.
    I can keyframe the camera but i can tell that i am not on center. I have to keyframe soft rotaion as the camera is going around a curve. So i am just having a ball spending 1hr on 3 keyframes.
    So is there a way to connect the center points of the circles to form the path points. This way all i would have to do

    If I understand your question correctly, then yes. You can use the replicator to create your polka dot path.
    Use the shape tool to create an open bezier path that will serve as your polka dot road.
    Create a circle and replicate it. Use Geometry for the replicator shape and drag the shape path into the well.
    Then create your camera and apply the Motion Path behavior to it. Change the path shape to Geometry and use the same shape path for the camera animation.

  • Scaling objects and having the distance from the center point remain the same

    Hello,
    I hope someone can help!
    How do you scale a shape--a square, say--from small to large then back to small and have the distance be the same from the shape's center point?
    I'd like to be able to specify the distance and the sizes of the smallest shape and the largest shape and the steps in between.
    There must be an easier way than the time consuming method I'm using.
    Thank you.

    1 Make your smallest and largest square or object
    2 make a blend with specified number of steps and specify the number you need.
    3 at this point it is not necessary to have them space the finally distance.
    4 then make the blend
    5 Use the Effects>Distort and Transform>Transform to copy, reflect and move and create a new instance of the blend.
    6 Expand the Appearance of the Transform now eliminate one of the large squares using the direct select tool and ungroup the squares.
    (you have to ungroup twice)
    7 Now holding down the shift key move one of the smallest square to the position you want it to be in the end.
    8 do the same for the other smallest square.
    9 now select all the squares and use the horizontal center distribute command in the align panel or control panel with the option to align to selection.
    That should do it.
    Actually simpler then the number of steps indicates.
    You get this

  • My game center points are decreasing

    If your Apple ID was hacked, you need to immediately log in to appleid.apple.com and change your password. You should also enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID to increase its security.
    If you cannot log in to your Apple ID because the password has been changed by the hacker, you will need to try to reset your password (also on appleid.apple.com). However, in this case, it's entirely possible that the hacker may have taken control of your Apple ID away from you entirely. You will need to contact Apple if you are unable to reset the password, but be aware that it's possible the hacker could have changed your Apple ID in ways that will mean you will never get it back. (Like enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID himself.)

  • Incorrect Game Center Points

    I have notice this problem I few day ago, I desided to start collecting achievement as a hobby and notice my points were inncorect with my game points.
    The profile said I have 3,284 points, but I really have 3,184. Yes I know you may be thinking "Wow really? Complaining over this!" Well I am slighty fussy... Anyway if this can't be fixed I understand. If you want to add me on Game Center it's Personality Core

  • Career center points

    Dear sirs,
    I wonder why:
    1) points are not awarded for career center forum. I don´t care about it, but it would help a lot to increase the activity and hopefully a quality of feedback in this forum (in my opinion).
    2) same questions - about points - about the Career blogs
    I wanted to check the http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/topcontributors who is the top contributor for Careers category on SAP SDN, expected Kishan or (of course !!) Jon Reed or some other guys answering frequently. Didn´t find anything. If there is a reason why the career things are not awarded, would be nice to know. Please share,
    regards Otto

    Dear Otto,
    I am replying to your question even though I am a ma'am (and not a sir as addressed).
    1. When the forum was created it was decided to do so without points. There are others without points too. Perhaps it should be rethought however do take into account that while points can certainly increase activity, they can also lower quality. It is always a balance.
    2. Career blogs are awarded points however the points are awarded to the point category selected. There is no career point category. There are around 40 point categories for all SCN content. Not every topic has its own category.
    But still for those active in a forum, they will know who the top contributors are in their forum (as you do) and I agree with you that they are deserving of recognition.
