Reinstall the software properly. Migration is useless due to the specifics of the activation system.

  • Unexpected end of file occurred while opening Photoshop CC psd in Photoshop Cs4

Can anyone help me? I'm using Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 7 at home and Photoshop CS4 at school. I get an Unexpected end of file occurred when I try to open my assignements at school.
    How can this be fixed?
    Thank you!

Hi Curt...I'm new here, so I'll get the hang of it.  Thank you for your quick response.  I'm using the Mac OS X version 10.6.8  I'm a digital artist and was working on a psd file.  I use a wacom tablet and all of a sudden everything stopped responding.  I had to force quit Photoshop and open again.  That's when the window telling me an unexpected end-of-file was encountered.  So much work has gone into this piece of artwork, so needless to say, I'm beyond frustrated.  I had saved this work along the way just so I wouldn't lose it, but now this unexpected twist.  I will try what you suggested to see if it will help.
    Again THANK YOU!

Does anyone have any ideals on what I can do, I am lost with out my software. I refuse to buy CS5 because this stopped working. I turned off my firewall and virus protection...Though my gut is saying this is Internet Explorer's fault somehow. If anyone has a clue I would be ever so grateful...M

  • Keep from switching to Photoshop window while opening many files

    Hi,
I'm currently using Photoshop to stitch together many images at once, so I often open 6+ images at once. As it takes a little while for Photoshop to open all these images, I would like to use another application (web browsing, typing in a document, etc.) while Photoshop is loading. However, every time Photoshop opens a new image, the computer switches back to the Photoshop window, making it very difficult to use some other application. Is there a way to disable this switching, either in the OS or Photoshop? I'm currently running Win7 64-bit and Photoshop CS5 Extended 64-bit.
    Thanks,
    Reed

Photoshop isn't really an applicaiton you can leave alone and go off and do other things.  Probably because of its heritage, not to mention the complex way it manages windows, it jumps to the foreground sometimes.
Plus, there's another thing you should be aware of if trying to multitask while running Photoshop:  It detects modifier keys.  While I realize just opening files probably wouldn't result in any kind of problem, it can be a real problem if you're running a script or action in Photoshop while trying to do stuff with the keyboard in another application.  It WILL see the shift key or control key or alt key presses and may do different operations.
You may be able to see Photoshop give you less interference while doing other things by switching the default to [  ] Open New Documents as Tabs, I'm not sure - you'd have to experiment.  But honestly, if the results in Photoshop matter to you, you really do need to leave your computer alone while it's working on stuff.
Some other "thinking outside the box" ideas:  If you're finding you're having to wait a long time on file operations (implying you're working on big files), you may want to consider upgrading your computer hardware so that you don't actually have to wait as long.  I'm thinking along the lines of moving up to SSD storage (or even an array of them, as I have).  Lots more RAM helps tons with big stitching operations as well.
Having the additional computer resources to support Photoshop doing things much faster may mean you'd not have the urge to go off and do other things, since your Photoshop results would be available much more quickly.

  • Application Manager prompt while trying to open Photoshop CS5 Extended

    Hi,
I have a problem since yesterday. When I try to open Photoshop I get such a prompt:
    Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended
Adobe Application Manager is needed to start your trial.
Adobe Application Manager is needed to resolve this problem. However, it is missing or damaged.
Download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com,
    or install this product again.
    OK
For some reason it doesn't see my serial number. So I installed Adobe Application Manager and it opens Photoshop in trial mode asking to enter my serial number or start a 30-day trial. I don't have my CD or box any more. Is my serial number stored anywhere on my computer (Windows 7, 64-bit)?
I haven't been reinstalling Photoshop. It has been running fine and this issue started to happen suddenly.
    Please help.

Did you register it? Then you can log into your account and retrieve it there.
The serial number to license the software is what you pay for. Always keep serial numbers in a safe place with backups.

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 not opening Photoshop Image Processor

I selected one, four, and multiple pictures in Bridge to reduce the file size of jpgs. I went to Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor. Nothing happened. Photoshop did not open. That got me to thinking that sometimes while I am in Photoshop Bridge won't open either. Any ideas on resolving issue of "Bridge not opening Photoshop Image Processor" would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Curt Y, Everything is checked in the "Startup Scripts," including Bridge (twice) and Photoshop (twice). Not sure why duplicate entries but there are.
If you mean that you have two of the same versions (both CS3) in there that indicates there is something wrong with your install
If you have any suggestions regarding being able to access the Image Processor to resize pictures and such without first opening Photoshop, I'd greatly appreciate it. If not, the work around will have to suffice.
My first goal would be to reset the preferences for both PS and Bridge and then try again
see also this KB document, section preferences reset:

And inhere also info on how to retrieve your path for cache to manual delete it.

  • Can't open Photoshop CS in Wdo 7 - File is locked error

My computer crashed. I re-installed Photoshop CS successfully on my new hard drive after I had re-installed Adobe Reader & Photoshop Prepiere Elements.
When I open Photoshop CS, I get an error message "Could not initalize Photoshop because the file is locked. Use the 'Prorerties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file."
When I right click the 'Photoshop CS' file in the C:\Program Files\Adobe folder, I see that there is a 'greyed-out' check mark in the 'Read-only' attributes box. When I un-check it, it goes thru it's process & the box becomes unchecked. BUT, when I close that properties window and then go back & look at that property box again, the 'Read-only box is checked again (greyed-out). I still keep getting that 'locked file' error message when I try to start Photoshop CS.
I had a similar problem with Adobe Acrobat on my laptop & Adobe told my DELL laptop Computer tech support that there are known issues with Windows 7 and all Adobe programs. They somehow screw up the security settings and do things like this.
    I have tried un-installing & re-installing several times...I am out of ideas...Does anyone else have a solution?
How can I unlock the Photoshop file?

You are probably running afoul of Windows permissions issues.
I'm guessing you have used a different user account to install Photoshop than you originally set the computer up with.
You'll likely need to set every folder and file needing to be accessed by you / Photoshop to be owned by you and have permissions so that you can do whatever you need to them.  I suggest reading up on Windows Permissions in the Windows Help facility.
Also, you should read and understdand what Windows UAC (User Account Control) is doing for you.  It causes your applications to run as though they do not have Administrator privileges, so don't be fooled (as many ex-XP users are) into thinking you should have permissions to do everything you want while UAC is on the job.  Again, it's a good idea to read up on UAC and understand it.
There is a wealth of good information in the Windows 7 Help facility.

  • Why did Adobe Premiere have a "critical-hiccup" when I opened Photoshop?

    Hello,
I'm using a Windows 7 Toshiba Satellite with 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD.
I downloaded Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
I was using Premiere to make a video for work. I have a strict deadline and a very slow internet connection, yet I wanted a high quality editing software that can help me get the job done.
I imported my own graphics, animations, etc. And I realized I made a tiny flaw with one of the graphics at the very end of the video. No big deal right? Open up photoshop, make a slight adjustment, reimport it.
I opened Photoshop while Premiere remained open on a separate window. Finished my photoshop graphic, saved it under a new name. Went back to Premiere, and found out my audio was no longer playing. After confirming that it wasn't my speakers, settings, or preferences, I decided to look at my task manager to see if it was a RAM issue. 1GB used by Premiere, but I know I've allocated my PC to handle it with ease. Closed all windows, opened up Premiere and I got this:
[Please Uninstall and Reinstall the Product..blah blah blah...error 16]
Tried opening Illustrator, same thing. Media Encoder, same thing, photoshop, same thing. Tried to uninstall it and reinstall it (Which took forever on my connection), same issue. Uninstalled and reinstalled CC, same thing. Tried to follow this guide :https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/configuration-error-cs5.html
And found that the SLStore Folder doesn't even exist, nor does Adobe PCD...
So now I'm in a bit of a pickle. I can't use Sony Vegas because it can't support more than 32 files at one time. And none of my Adobe Products are working (And I just downloaded it 2 days ago :/) So I'm left with the task to make a high-end video, without software to do it. We all know Windows Movie Maker isn't going to Cut it.
Does anyone know why this happened or how I can fix it?
And will I have to redo my entire movie editing if I saved the file, saved the copy and placed the copy in my documents?
    Any help will be appreciated.

Is that a laptop, and does it have dual graphics?
Go to the Windows Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound and then select Device Manager... In Device manager you click the + sign to the left of Display Adapters... and see if 2 are listed

  • Can't double-click on icons to open Photoshop CS4

When I double-click various Photoshop files (.jpg, .tif, etc...) I get the "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file".  But they open fine when I go to File>Open.  I've changed the extensions to default open with Photoshop but that didn't help.  Any easy solutions?  THANKS!

I'm also having the same issue with InDesign.
Ahhh…  well your issue is not related to Photoshop directly then. I suggest you run disk permissions, on your main hard drive  - don't worry its a fairly safe activity.
    Also try this free application…
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
This will do Permissions repair as well as other important maintenance tasks. Good idea to back up first, but these kind of activities on mac are really 99% safe and recommended.
To reset Photoshops preferences hold down Command > alt > shift while starting Photoshop. Sounds like your issue is not going to be sorted by this though

  • Problem with two monitors while using Photoshop, windows move from 2nd screen to 1st screen.

Problem with two monitors while using Photoshop, windows move from 2nd screen to 1st screen.
I saved a new workspace and it did not help.
No problem before I went to Maverick.

I found the fix, go to System Preferences and open Mission Control and uncheck the box to keep monitors as they were (When switching to an application...........)

  • Cannot open photoshop files

All of a sudden I can neither open a file from my menu nor open while in Photoshop. All I get is the spinning wheel of death! I've trashed my Photoshop preferences, ran Cocktail, repaired permissions and restarted several times to no avail.
Can someone please help? I'm running CS2 on OSX 10.4.11
    Thanks!

Thanks for your help. I didn't need to follow your suggestion though.
I went through the steps again (trashed preferences, ran cocktail) and it worked this time. The only thing different is that I disconnected my peripherals... not sure if that had anything to do with it.

  • Files lagging while opening

    Hi there, i have a Mac OSX V.10.7.5 and 3.4 GHz i7 8GB Ram.
Indesign and Photoshop open files very quickly, but illustrator while opening any type of file—whether it's an AI Cs6 file or EPS file or SVG file—there is at least a 20 second delay.
    Any thoughts?

    Trash your illustrator prefs
Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Illustrator. Your current settings are deleted.
A more thorough way is to delte the folder users/library/Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings
If you are in lion then your user/library folder may be hidden
    Open Finder
    Open the Utilities folder
    Open a terminal window
Copy and paste the following line in:defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
    Press return
Now hold ‘alt’ on the keyboard and right click on the Finder icon
    Click on Relaunch

  • I am currently unable to open photoshop CC/Win7

I have the monthly service. I use am using a windows 7 system. I have opened photoshop twice and now it won't open. When i click on it the hour glass flickers and then nothing. Everything thing else seems to be functioning fine on my computer.  I have read through some of the other discussions and trried to use the task manager with no success. I have shut down and restarted, only to find it un changed.  I try to open photoshop files from my pictures, nope. As the right click administrator option, and nothing. I feel it may be caused by not closing the program. Any ideas?

    1. reset your preferences: hold down ctrl-shift-alt while starting ps cc.  you will see a confirmation dialog if done correctly.
    2. if that fails: uninstall ps cc, restart your computer and reinstall ps cc.
