Artic Silencer

Hi is there any problems attaching a artic vga silencer to a RX 9800 card . I cant help but notice that msi use a custom heatsink  lol . Can you mount a Artic silencer using the same pin set out as Msi use

according to arctic cooling the vga silencer fits on all boards that follow the ati guide for card layout, ati have the guide to allow manufacturers to have the most optimum layout for the card to work at it's best.  [nvidia do the same, hence all radeon/geforcefx cards tend to look the same]  basically, if your radeon looks like every other radeon from rival manufacturers you're in good water.
that cooler is a must for anyone planning to flash/overclock their card.

AMD 4000+ owners see inside please

I've only been able to get my fsb up to 214mhz and have everything run stable. I'm using OCZ 3200el which I believe is limiting the amount I can oc. Also, just flashed the bios to ver 1.5 which has helped tremendously and moved my sata drives to channels 3 & 4. I set the ddr voltage to 2.8v and the cpu to 1.525v. Relaxed the memory timings to 3-4-4-10. Sandra cpu math scores are now 11900/5400 which is slightly higher than an opteron 152 at 2.6ghz and even with the relaxed memory timings I'm getting 6350 on the memory scores. My temps at idle stay around 35c and 50c at full load using an Artic Silencer 64 Ultra TC L.

Well i got a sweet deal on a 4000+. I just came off a 3200+ .90nm, but i got this 4000+ for like $550. Anywho, I just wanted to know if anyone was overclocking their 4000+ cpu's on a K8N Neo2 and if so, would you care to share you settings, HTT, Mem, timings, etc. etc. I'd appreciate it greatly. Oh yeah, 1meg cache, makes a big difference  :hypecrite:
    Thanks

  • Artic Cooling NV Silencer 5 Rev 3

    Hi,
Just ordered the above fan for my stock 7800GT.
Does anyone know where I can find the fitting instructions?
I seem to remember reading that one of the plugs for the fan has to be cut off and wired to the card but I cant find the post anymore.
Any help would be much appreciated

Instructions come with the fan (I got one myself).
However, I'd rather recommend using a Zalman VF700Cu instead, which is just as quiet, but a bit smaller. The NV silencer does block the second PCIe slot completely (as does the Zalman), however the NV silencer even blocks the third PCIe slot if the card is long enough - short cards do fit, see this pic
You might want to check out this thread about the Zalman (I also posted there as 'boli'):
    http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8300945231/m/911007550831
In particular, look at this post for what I had to do to connect the fan's power cable to the connector on the card (same for the Zalman and NV silencer).
And see what I wrote at
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/G5/quadG5_cputemperatures.html just below the text "Quad G5 Owner Replies" (as 'Oliver')
As for instructions (Same cooler, different card - should be similar):

  • How can I silence my MacBook without powering it down?

    Quick summary
My MacBook is running OS X Mavericks and has an unidentified hardware problem with the optical disc drive that, among other things, causes it to make an annoying sound four times right after each other anytime the MacBook checks if there is a disc inside. When I put my MacBook to sleep by closing the lid, it produces this distinct sound exactly every two hours. I would like to know if anyone can help me silence my MacBook while it is in sleep mode.
    Background
The optical disc drive is malfunctioning because of repeated rocking and shaking in the past when I used to transport it on the back of my bike. As a result it doesn't work anymore, it eats my discs (as in: I have a really really hard time getting them out again) and it produces a distinct sound four times in a row whenever my MacBook needs to find out if there is a disc inside. I can live with that, I don't use optical discs anyway, so I only have to cope with the sound during the boot sequence.
Recently I upgraded from OS X Snow Leopard to OS X Mavericks and the same night I was awoken by this very sound. I looked at my alarm clock and unconsciencely made note of the time. Somewhat later, I was awoken again and I noted it was exactly two hours later. To me this was an indication that the MacBook apparently runs some periodic check on the optical disc drive in Mavericks that it did not do in Snow Leopard. Needless to say, I wasn't very pleased with this new feature to wake me up in the middle of the night, ironically when my MacBook is fast asleep...
    Possible solutions
As far as my imagination goes right now, I can think of four possible directions to get my night's rest back again:
    Shutdown my MacBook.
While this will certainly silence the device, I won't even consider this as I'm not willing to give up the responsiveness typical for a MacBook that is brought out of sleep mode. I'm more likely to throw it away (which, on a side note, would also give me my rest back) then wait for it to power up everytime I want to use it.
    Leave my MacBook on.
This might be a good temporary workaround, but since it makes a gentle buzzing sound when it's on, for the long term I'd fancy a solution in which I can put it to sleep without it making any more sound. Plus I'd have to plug the power cable in for the entire night and it's supposed to be bad for the battery lifetime to leave the power cord plugged when it is fully charged.
    Fix the optical disc drive.
This is most likely impossible, but if anyone has a suggestion, be my guest!
Disable the periodic check when the MacBook is put to sleep.
This is my most desirable solution, but I have no clue how to achieve this, let alone if anyone knows about this check at all. I mean, most of us don't have weird buzzing optical disc drives in their Apple notebooks, so noone would notice such a periodic check. I don't even know if this is actually the result of a check and not yet another malfunction of the drive.
Remove or disconnect the optical disc drive.
As I said, I can't use the drive anyway so fysically removing or disconnecting it is no problem for me. It's not like there is any warrenty left on this ancient device. Plus I might get to feel like a bomb defuser when deciding whether I have to cut the red or the blue wire.
    Anyone got a suggestion?

If you're hearing the optical drive noise after putting the machine to sleep, that means the computer isn't really going to sleep or is going to sleep and waking up for some reason after a couple of hours. There are a few places in System Preferences that could be doing this, but I don't have a Mac with Mavericks on it for reference, just one with Lion, so I'm not sure I can help much!
If you go to the Apple menu in the upper left corner and choose Sleep, what happens? Does the computer go silent and stay that way?
For option 5, and assuming you have a unibody MacBook (one that does not have a removable battery), you could try following this guide for replacing the optical drive, but just stop at step 12 (where you disconnect it from the logic board) and that should stop it from making noises. If there's no power going to it, it should be silent!
I don't know what the machine will do with the drive disconnected, but I can't see any harm coming from it if you feel up to tearing it apart.
    ~Lyssa
PS - leaving the computer on with the charger plugged in won't do it harm as long as you fully discharge the battery once a month or so and occasionally run it on battery in between. My MacBook spent about 80% of its time plugged in and running for several years, and the battery still gave me 3-4 hours on a single charge!

  • How to add or remove silence at the beging and at end of each audio file using batch process

    Hi all,
I am new to this forum. I have been using Audition 3 for the last couple of years and these days I have to coop with an extra difficult situation, which is; I have more than 2000 files that start and finish with a random length of silence, it varies 0 to 7 sec. My question is, how can I set the silent duration at the beginning and end of each file to a constant amount of 2 sec by using batch process?
    Kind regards,
    Pavlos

    >it's relatively easy to select an absolute time at the beginning of a file (we discovered how to do this a while back), the same technique simply doesn't work at all at the end of it
Indeed! I had a few trials last couple of days and noticed it.
Definitely we need help on Audition's scripting language from the people in Adobe. Why don't they produce a scripting language documentation?!

  • Send changes of Artical master data from sap to nonsap (idoc outbound prog)

    Hi Experts,
    I am  new to interfaces
I have one requirement in Idocs, i.e the changes of artical master data is send to sap to nonsap system through idoc.
idoc type is ARTMAS05, msg typ is ARTMAS.
I am giving some information for my object.
For article (MATNR) by site (WERKS plant)
         If MRP Type (MARC-DISMM) = u201CX0u201D
              Then if changes to fields:
              MARC-KZAUS     Discontinuation ind.
              MARC-AUSDT     Effective date out
              MARC-NFMAT     Follow-up article
Then send idoc type ARTMAS05 with the following data
    segment E1BPE1MATHEAD
         MATERIAL
    segment E1BPE1MARCRT
    MATERIAL             PLANT                     DISCONTINU
    EFF_O_DAY            FOLLOW_UP
    Systems Referred to:
The planning system for our client is nonsap system. This software requires to be informed of relevant changes on articles in order to start its planning runs. When an article is superseded by another we have to send the replacement article (if any) as well as the discontinuation date.
    Dependencies/Prerequisites :
Change pointers for Article master active
         Change pointers active for fields:
         MARC-KZAUS      Discontinuation indicator
         MARC-AUSDT     Effective date out
         MARC-NFMAT     Follow-up article
Idoc ARTMAS05 required with reduction in order to only send relevant fields
Filter to only send idocs for materials in the u201CAutomotiveu201D type where MARC-DISMM = u201CX0u201D.
So this is my requirement, please send some sample code or idea how to complete object.
    with regards,
    gs reddy.

    Hi,
All the details mentioned seems to be correct.
just change one "automotive" material and check change documents are getting generated.
i hope partner profiles are already in place.
once change docuements are inpalce check RBDMIDOC program is scheduled in back ground or you can manually execute the program for testing.
    and check the IDoc generated.
do you  want supress some segements?
di your NOn-sap ssytem can accept Idoc?

  • Is it possible to remove the silence between the end of a track and the beginning of it's B-side?

There are a couple songs I've been unsure of purchasing on iTunes. a couple feature an A side and B side. These songs/tracks will have something of a 4 minute song, with something of a 3+ minute gap of pure silence continuing on with something of a 2+ minute B side. These tracks can be almost 9 minutes of length. I do not mind having both tracks on one file, as you can not find them separately to begin with, however I do mind the large gap in between the tracks. Is there a way I can edit this out within iTunes? By the way, I own a PC, not a Mac and use the most recent iTunes version available on the PC

    What tracks?
You know the iTunes store doesn't just record direct from a cassette player?
I seriously doubt the tracks have the silence.
You can adjust start & stop times on tracks, so even if they did have silence you could simply workout when to stop the track. The Get info panel has the details in the 'options' tab.
It may be different for you on Windows, but I'm certain the feature exists, you may ned to look for it ion iTunes 12, this is from 11

  • CD/DVD drive Acoustic Silencer does not work on Satellite P100-194

    Satellite P100-194 (Win XP MCE, Bios-Version 2.20)
Since there is excessive vibrating of the DVD-Multi-Drive with some of my DVDs and CDs, I would like to use the Acoustic Silencer, but theres no difference between Silent Mode and Normal Mode.
I have already tried to reinstall the Acoustic Silencer Tool, without success. Since this problem is starting to get really annoying, any help would be appreciated.
I wonder if the built-in DVD-multi-drive is that sensitive by default (sometimes the entire notebook starts vibrating combined with a very high noise level when reading a dvd) ?
    Thanks in advance !

    Hi WB,
I believe the Acoustic Silencer simply limits the rate at which information can be obtained from the CD/DVD with the intention of preventing the very high speed rotation that can sometimes occur when ripping CDS or DVDs to the hard drive. If you are simply watching DVDs (or listening to CDs for that matter) then the drive speed will not be particularly high since once the read buffer is full then there is no need to read any more data from the disc itself. If you watch the drive LED you will see that it only lights intermittently.
The drive speed will decrease during playback as the laser reads the information from the outside portion of the disc surface.
The presence of noise and vibration normally indicates that the disc is 'eccentric' or is not clamped centrally in the drive, and this can indicate a possible problem with the clamping mechanism itself. However, it is always worth checking that the centre hole in the disc itself has no burrs or pieces of materila that would throw it off-centre, and it is also worth checking if the disc label (assuming it is a stick-on paper type) is properly attached and has no buckles or air bubbles in it since this can also cause noise.
I have experience of a couple of CD-ROM game discs which cause a lot of noise and vibration in my notebook and on checkin I found that the centre hole was very slightly offset.

  • What is the best artical for understanding Data Pump

    Hi,
What is the best artical for understanding the relationship / dependency of NETWORK_LINK with FLASHBACK_SCN or FLASHBACK_TIME .
Why it is manditory to have NETWORK_LINK , when we are using FLASHBACK_SCN or FLASHBACK_TIME.
Can some one explain the internal for that dependency
    Thanks
    Naveen

There's no direct dependency between NETWORK_LINK and FLASHBACK_SCN and FLASHBACK_TIME
As noted in this Oracle doc,
If the NETWORK_LINK parameter is specified, the SCN refers to the SCN of the source database
FLASHBACK_SCN and FLASHBACK_TIME are mutually exclusive.

  • My iPad does not ring when locked.  How can I take off the tick in the silence do not disturb

In the do not disturb box is a tick for silence when iPad is locked.  Therefore I do not know when I am being called as there is no ringing sound.  Can anyone help please.

If you change Settings > Do Not Disturb > Allow Calls From (e.g. to allow from 'Everyone') then it should still ring if the iPad is locked.
For the 'Only While iPad is locked' and 'Always' options on that screen, one of those two has to be ticked.
