Article ID: 2809243 Need Readme for Lync 2010.

Tried to find the new CU for Lync 2010 and found Article ID: 2809243, but this only contains readme for Lync 2013. Does anyone know where to find the right one for Lync 2010?

Check here for a current list including the April 2014 update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2493736
Direct link to the April update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2957044
I'd stick with the first link, and run the LyncServerUpdateInstaller and back end database updates when you're aware of new releases.  It just makes life easy.

  • Test Plan and UAT document for LYNC 2010

    Hi,
Is there Microsoft Technet Link for Test plan and User acceptance test document post implementation/migration?
    Thanks

    Hi jitender,
Yes, you can use Lync Rollout and Adoption Success Kit (RASK) .

  • After Lync 2010 sql move

    hello
after I complete the move of the sql to a new server "http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2010/12/20/change-a-pool-database-instance-when-the-pool-hosts-the-central-management-server.aspx"
I would then need to decom the temporary front end- I was looking for the procedure?
    thanks

    Here's the official article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg195767(v=ocs.14).aspx
Did you rehome users on the pool, or did it just exist to host the CMS?  If it only existed to host the CMS, you can likely just remove it from the topology builder and publish.  If it was more complex, you can pretty much follow a migration guide
that walks through decommissioning of an old pool such as:
http://www.oiboran.com/?p=1073.  That might be a bit more clear than just reading pure TechNet.  The one linked is for migrating to 2013, though the decommissions steps you'd need are for Lync 2010, just skip the ones that don't apply.

  • Need information for federation with lync online

We have an online lync account and one lync on premises account. We are trying to federate the two domains to enable chat and presence sharing between the two.
Online Lync client is [email protected] and lync on premises client is [email protected] We have updated the SRV records for ggnucfederation.com as follows to enable federation with lync online.
    _sipfederationtls._tcp.ggnucfederation.com --> sip.xmppspark.in
An A record for sip.xmppspark.in has also been added in the DNS to point to lync edge server. However we notice that, when we add
[email protected] from lync online, then no TLS handshake message is received at Lync edge server.
Interestingly, if we modify the SRV record to
    _sipfederationtls._tcp.ggnucfederation.com --> sip.ggnucfederation.com
and correspondingly create A record for sip.ggnucfederation.com, then TLS handshake is initiated and done.
What could we have possibly missed that is causing problem in the first case? Is it necessary to create the SRV record of type sip.<domainname>?
As per my understanding, lync online should query the srv record to get the target machine for the sipfederationtls and accordingly initiate tls handshake with the host name specified in the srv record. Is there anything more to this?

Not sure what you mean bu "Any other SRV record" above. The bottom line is that, On Prem deployment have an SRV (_sipfederationtls) record that resolve in to sip.domain.com (Access edge FQDN which is a A record) and Lync online deployment should
also have a SRV record (_sipfederationtls) that resolve in to sip.domain.com (CNAME Record) which points to sipfed.online.lync.com (A record which ger created automatically)
    http://thamaraw.com
    Thanks Thamara for your replies!
By 'any other SRV record' i meant, that I wish to make the srv record (_sipfederationtls._tcp.ggnucfederation.com) point to sip.xmppspark.in. The reason for this is that our certificates are by this CNAME i.e. sip.xmppspark.in. So there is any way I could
    achieve that?
Interestingly, does this restriction only applies to lync 2013 and office 365? I mean, I was going through some other forums, for lync 2010, where I found that people were using access edge fqdn as the sip srv record which was not necessarily sip.domain.com.

  • Project Pro 2013 client Deployment with Lync 2010 and Team Explorer Excel Issues Following

    Current machines are Office 2010 SP1 or SP2 32-bit
Just deployed Project 2013 Pro and Std to the existing machines that had Project 2010 Pro or Std.  We selected the full install since people use integration into different tools.
    Results:
lync 2010 64-bit when attending a meeting prompted user to start using and download the Lync Web Component, which breaks features such as muting, etc.
A repair sent to the workstations for Lync 2010 64-bit fixed that.
Team Explorer 2012 Export to excel from queries gives error Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Application'. This operation failed because
the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{000208D5-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: The interface is unknown. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706B5).
Repair of Team Explorer, Office, Test Manager 2012, etc did not assist.  if we go into excel and connect to TFS, we can then retrieve the query data.  Just not from TFS exporting to excel.  Had to unload Project 2013, repair Office 2010
and rebooted with project off the machine and now it works.   It seems maybe the setup with the shared features and Office tools are breaking something?  We need the ability for VBA and .net functionality, but what could be breaking this?

    Hi,
Your environment will support 32 bit of Project professional 2013 (x86) as you have Windows and Office of (X86).
You try to modify registry then you wont face issue.
The issue when you hit a "1653" is that Windows
Installer "DisableRollback" is set. Office 2013 requires that "rollback" be enabled. If you are getting a "1653"
error in your logs as Ken did then the solution is to delete the "DisableRollback" (or set to '0') at the following registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
these are the issues I've seen:
Scheduler service was stopped. At a cmd window typing "net start schedule" resolves the problem.
CMD.exe was customized via the following registry key. Solution was to temporarily disable the customization by changing autorun value to autorun_old.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Command Processor
Permission issues - seems some custom permissions affected Ingram's install which he explained in his previous post.
Environment variable "ComSpec" had been modified (semicolon added). Fix was to remove the added semicolon (there should be no semicolon).
The way to identify you are hitting this specific issue is if in the %temp%\OfficeSetup.log there is a mention of "Office64MUI.msi" failing to install with return value of 1603
If you want to enable verbose logging via the following key, rerun your failed install, and collect all the setup and MSI* logs that will give more information.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer]
    "logging"= "voicewarmup"

  • Lync 2010 not saving IM messages to Outlook

We have a small number of users who have issues with their Lync communicating with the exchange, they do not get any flagged errors however their IM messages are not being saved & they do not have the folder within Outlook.
The Exchange server is hosted internally, the Lync server is supplied by a 3rd party.
Many other users including myself have no problems in this regard.
They are currently running Windows XP with Office 2007 & Lync 2010.
I have checked their folder count which is no where near 1000
I have created a brand new profile on their machine.
I have found that under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Communicator/<username> the autodiscovery folder does not exist
I have also found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft the Communicator & Lync folder do not exist (these registry folders have been mentioned in troubleshooting I have found on MS website) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000886
    I have attempted a re-install of Lync.
I should also mention that I signed the user into my own machine (same, XP, Office07, Lync2010) which for myself the conversation history works but still the user has issues.
I've also had the 3rd party create a brand new Lync account for the user.
Does anyone have any ideas here?? Would anyone know why these registry keys are missing as the install is done in the same manner on each machine, the majority of which work correctly.
    Thanks for any help
    Sam

The issue may be caused by failed EWS connection. Please check the following tips:
    1. Please check other Exchange integration features work properly and the option “Personal information manager” has been selected in Lync client.
    2. In this user's Lync, please holding down CTRL and right-clicking the Lync icon located in the System Tray and click Configuration Information .
Please check if the status of EWS information is ok. Please also check if Value of EWS Internal URL and EWS External URL is correct.
    3. On user's client, please go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Communicator\[User SMTP Address]\Autodiscovery, please check if the URL of the
    following items are correct:
    ExternalEwsUrl
    InternalEwsUrl

  • CMS Migration - Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 & Pool Pairing

    Hi all,
Question regarding CMS installation when migrating away from Lync 2010.
Here's a brief overview of topology
    - Lync 2010 Pool in Data Centre 1
    - Lync 2013 Pool #1 in Data Centre 1
    - Lync 2013 Pool #2 in Data Centre 2
    - Lync 2013 Pools are paired
    Consider the following
     - CMS located on SQL Backend server for Lync 2010 Pool
     - CMS database installed on SQL Back end for Lync 2013 Pool #1.  CMS is moved to this location
Now for correct pool pairing and failover capabilities I would assume that
     - CMS database needs to also be installed on SQL back end for Lync 2013 Pool #2
Once this is done then Lync 2013 Pool #2 Front Ends should replicate back into the CMS stored on the back end SQL database for pool #2?  Nothing else would need to be done?  As soon as it's installed its now a backup?
If I'm reading into this correctly the following from TechNet is basically telling me to do this?
When you establish a pool pairing that includes the pool hosting the Central
Management store, a backup Central Management store database is set up in the
backup pool, and Central Management store services are installed in both pools.
At any point in time, one of the two Central Management store databases is the
active master, and the other is a standby. The content is replicated by the
Backup Service from the active master to the standby.
    Thanks,
    paul.

Correct, when you enable pool pairing on Pool A - if it's a CMS server - it will prompt you to create the CMS database on Pool B. If you move CMS into a pool that is already pool paired, my experience is that CMS doesn't get created on Pool B because the
creation only happens during the pool pairing setup. Thanks -Richard

  • Problem activating Lync 2010 client

I am running Windows 7 (64) and have installed MS Office Pro Plus (HUP).  Then my company switched from Communicator to Lync and I installed the Lync 2010 demo version.  When the trial use expired, I obtained a HUP activation key for Lync 2010
client, but am unable to enter it.  Whenever Lync is activated, I get the error:
Microsoft Lync 2010 cannot start. The product license may be expired because you are using a pre-release or evaluation copy of the program, or the product key information may have been modified in your Windows registry.  Please uninstall and then reinstall
    Lync.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Lync 2010 client several times as well as uninstalling and reinstalling both  MS Office Pro Plus and Lync together.  Also I have received an email from the HUP support (ESD support) that only the 32 bit version is
supported by HUP and it should work on both 32 and 64 bit versions (X17-30021),  but of course when I try to run the .exe, I get the error message:
This installer is not supported on your computer. Please use the 64-bit installer to complete the Microsoft Lync 2010 installation.
A final note the product key that I was sent for the Lync 2010 client activation by ESD support is the same as my Office Pro Plus 2010 activation key, and the office products are all activated correctly, but the Lync 2010 client does not recognize the activation.

    Per the following URL:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412883(v=ocs.14).aspx
Microsoft does not support this on operating systems that are not listed on this page for Lync 2010.   Windows Server 2012 (and R2) are not listed as supported.
There are several new features in Server2012 that are not used in Lync 2010.  I would not install 4 year old enterprise software on a platform such as Server 2012 R2.   There are enough hoops to jump through with Lync 2013.

  • I uninstalled Lync 2010 and it still launches. How do I uninstall it?

This is a weird one I know but I need to uninstall Lync 2010 on several laptops.
My process has been to uninstall it from add/remove programs. It seems to uninstall properly. Note that I think it is a click to run version of Lync.
However, on a reboot the program is still there and will launch. It no longer has a reference in Add/remove programs.
How can I uninstall it properly?

    Hi,
Please check if Lync 2010 folder is still exist, if exist please delete manually.
Please also delete information about Lync 2010 (Communicator) in Registry Editor HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Please also check if Lync 2010 software set to Startup, if set please disable it.
