Article upload/update is much slower with indesign CC then CS6 was.

Updating Articles from indesign CC through the Folio Builder Panel has become very slow compared to when I was using indesign CS6. Are there different settings that the CC version is using that CS6 wasn't that may be causing this lengthened time-span? What used to take only a few minutes now often times takes up to 10 minutes.

Same here, the article is very slow to upload even though I have a big upload pipe 50Mbit up. The article is about 280Mb in size. Is this a "normal" behavior?

Why is my computer now slower, with Firefox 4, then it was with previous version? It stops and crashes constantly. How can I go back to the previous version?

When I am on Facebook or playing a game, it will freeze and I have to hit control alt delete, to get any response. Within a couple more seconds the same problem occurs. I did not have this problem with the previous version.

I tried so hard with FF4 but no deal. It was considerably MUCH slower than 3.6. Every page just had a 2~3 second wait before it loaded up. This was tested on a brand new Windows 7 64-bit install machine too.
Flash ran much more cpu intensive as well. I played many flash based games in 3.6 and my cpu usage was never always as it was with FF4 in the 90%-100% range.
I had to get rid of it due to the slowness and the lack of older plugin support: ANYCOLOR which I must run and cannot stand the light colored menu pop ups. Also the buttons in FF4 are worse than 3.6. You can't see them when you have a persona applied.
Staying with 3.6 until 4 speeds up or will give 4.1 a try.

After 2.0 update - contacts much slower

original iPhone
issue: contacts display much more slower than before 2.0 update. Once they display, scrolling isnt absolutely free (where the phone would continuously show the contacts as fast as you could roll the names by)
This happens via the phone app or the contacts app both much slower than pre 2.0

I've seen the same with my iPhone also. Hope they come out with a fix soon!

Update query is slow with merge replication

According to your description, the update query is slow after configuring merge replication. There are some proposals for you troubleshooting this issue as follows.
1. Perform regular index maintenance, update statistics, re-index, on the following Replication system tables.
    •MSmerge_contents
    •MSmerge_genhistory
    •MSmerge_tombstone
    •MSmerge_current_partition_mappings
    •MSmerge_past_partition_mappings
2. Make sure that your tables involved in the query have suitable indexes. Also do the re-indexing and update the statistics for these tables. Additionally, you can use
Database Engine Tuning Advisor to tune databases for better query performance.

Safari much slower with Lion!

I am a massive Firefox user but in the last 3 months I have been switching between using Firefox and Safari, both are excellent, Safari has been extremeley fast when compared to Firefox, however, since upgrading to Lion Safari is certainly much slower now sufing the web, has anyone else noticed this?

Quite the opposite for me:-
Mac 4,1 (2009 MacPro, 12GB RAM, 4870 Graphics) and I find it's much zippier in both Safari & Mail since I installed Lion last Wednesday. In fact it seems faster all round - and I use Office 2011 and Adobe CS5 intensively.
Got a couple of PPC apps which don't run, and had to replace a kext for my eSATA PCI card. 5 mins to replace the kext, PPC apps still run on my G5 dual 2.0 so I'm a happy camper.

Updating numbered Cross references crashes InDesign in both CS6 and CS4

I have a large medical journal that has over a hundered references, which I cross-referenced with the thinking that the client may well insert or amend the refernces. I was correct and now the customer has several references to go in I have updated the first in its numbered list at the end and gone to "update cross-refernce" and InDesign crashes. I have tried this in CS6 and CS4 but both crash.

This happens often, particularly with cross-references across documents that are managed with an InDesign book file. One common suggestion, in addition to updating the installed software with the latest patches, is to open all the files in the book before updating; this may or may not always succeed. Search this forum for cross-reference crash to see other suggested solutions.
Some of those posters may mention the commercial third-party Cross-References Plug-in for InDesign, from dtptools.com, and the poster's experience with it. It is reputed to be much more reliable than InDesign's built-in cross-references. It includes an option to convert the ID cross-references to its own, and that's reversible. There's a free trial. There's also a free reader plug-in for users who will need to open and edit documents that contain the plug-in's cross-references. The reader plug-in permits users to edit content in the documents without affecting the cross-references. HOWEVER, to edit or creatge new cross-references, users need the full plug-in.

Hi Everyone,
hope this message finds you all in time. The recent Apple TV update 5.1 is terrible. Apple knows it is which is why (thankfully for some relentless user -I have no idea who but I believe it was under threat) they have allowed to sign 5.0.2 again which means you can downgrade your Apple TV 2 and 3 to a 5.0.2 version via iTunes. Who knows how long they will keep the window open but I have downgraded my ATV early this morning. I couldn't post this earlier because I was out all day but I am doing it now.
Here's how to do it:
1) Connect your ATV to your computer via a Mini USB (not included with ATV but included with many other electronic devices) - in order for your ATV to appear in iTunes you must FIRST plug the USB cable to your computer and ATV and only THEN plug the power cable.
2) Download your ipsw restore file from Apple.
5.0.2 (ATV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
5.0.2 (ATV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
3) In iTunes select yout ATV, hold SHIFT and click on Restore
4) Find and choose the downloaded IPSW file in the Open Dialog Box and hit Next
5) As long as Apple still signs that version the Restore process will begin and will take a few minutes to complete.

IMac 5k slow with Indesign CC2014 and PDF's?

I have a new iMac 5k, i7 4ghz processor, 24 gigs of ram, AMD Radeon M29FX with 4 gigs of DDR5 ram gpu and 1 TB of flash storage. I upgraded to this from a mid 2012 Retina MacBook pro, i7 2.6 ghz processor, 16 gigs of ram and a NVIDEO GeForce 650M 1024 gpu with a 512 flash storage. I was expecting to see some serious improvements in speed, especially when handling large pdf's. This iMac actually feels slower, like it is lagging trying to process the images. I am running Adobe CC 2014, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat all with the latest updates.
Is this something where the Adobe apps are not optimized for the 5K screen? Or is the Graphics card just not good with the Adobe apps? I do not know what to think. It is a brand new computer with some great specs, but the old Retina MacBook Pro seems much faster when it comes to handling pdf's and working with overprint preview on in indesign.

Hey, all of my Adobe products run in the range of extremely slow to unusable; InDesign is by far the worst. Like you, I run a decked out 5K iMac and Adobe CC 2014. Oddly most people have problems with Illustrator, however I find Illustrator to be usable, yet InDesign and Acrobat are nearly unusable. I would do anything to get rid of my iMac and get my much faster 3 year old iMac back.
Adobe has mentioned they are working on a fix for Illustrator however I have not seen any mention of InDesign. I suspect they will apply the same fix across the board if there is a software fix for this. Apple quadrupled the number of pixels on the iMac screen and that is a lot to ask of Adobe CC.

TS4000 Why are cross-device reminder updates so much slower in iOS 7?

It used to be that Reminders entered on an iPad at home would show up on my iPhone almost right away; I could be in the grocery store and get dynamic updates to the shopping list. Now ... The various networks have different philosophies on testing and releasing software.It also depends on how thoroughly various networks conduct their testing, and their philosophy of allowing a certain degree of software bugs or software issues to be released, and patched later. In relation to Telstra, they are the dominant network operator in Australia, and in fact one of the 5 best operators in the world. The last thing they need is a product not to fulfill their criteria, with the resultant backlash. When testing is thoroughly done, it is almost inevitable that some issues will be found, and that requires negotiation with the manufacturers, and then it's up to the manufacturers to fix those issues and re-release the software. Then the testing is re-done and sometimes it is again not approved by the operators. That simply takes time. Different networks have different philosphies as to what is acceptable to release. Also, the same generic software can display issues that often requires customisation to a degree for different networks.I hope this explains the situation to you. It is extremely complex as phones have now become a multitude of devices all in one.

MacBook boots much slower with Lion

I have a late '09 MacBook, and installed Lion on release day. I noticed that every operation was slower - switching between apps, loading messages in Mail, refreshing web pages in Safari, start up, shut down - the gamut.
I installed additional RAM, going from 2GB to 4GB. Switching between apps, and app response is much better, but the boot up process is still super slow. With OS X 10.6 my boot time was around 30 seconds from hitting the start button to having a functional desktop. With Lion and 4GB of RAM that time has at least tripled.
Is it just me? Any ideas on how to resolve?

Whenever you install a new version of OS X, there's something called "Indexing" that takes place after the installation is complete. This uses a large amount of processing power but it only happens once, and can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on your system. Once this process is completed your system will return to normal. It has nothing to do with Lion itself.
Indexing, btw, allows you to find things in your Mac using Spotlight and Smart Windows
There's nothing you can do, but there's also no need to worry about your computer

Imports Much Slower with ITunes 7

Prior to installing "7" my imports usually came in at 4X - 5X speed.
Now the best I get is 2.3, and many times the speed is below 2.
Any suggestions?
