Yours is not a rant, but very valuable feedback and posting it here is the perfect place.  I will make sure that your comments get the attention of the editors.  And while good blog contents are fairly easy to surface/uncover and the editors made a decision to generally try and highlight blogs and bloggers on homepages,  it would be great to have more input on surfacing good wiki content so that we can begin to feature some of the best wiki pages that bring value to the community.  I know the editors have been very cooperative in bringing the community wiki pages and community projects on wiki pages into the limelight.

  • Choice of Articles on the SDN Homepage

    Hi all,
I just wondered how the articles on the homepage of SDN are chosen?  Well if anything this is a slight rant as I do not see why support package releases are placed on the homepage.  I see that at the moment a BI Content support package is on there.  Previously I have seen lots of other announcements of support packages on there.
In my humble opinion, these are wasting valuable space on the homepage.  There are plenty of interesting blogs / additions the the wiki which could be added instead.  Support packages (or for those of us who have been around a while hot packages!) are part of the general SAP maintenance and although they often have some additional content in them, perhaps links to the what's new should be put in the WIKI or sticky threads at the top of each relevant forum.
    Just my thoughts.

  • Grid Control Architecture for Very Large Sites: New Article published

A new article on Grid Control was published recently:
Grid Control Architecture for Very Large Sites
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/havewala-gridcontrol.html

    Oliver,
Thanks for the comments. The article is based on practical experience. If one was to recommend a pool of 2 management servers for a large corporate with 1000 servers, what that would mean is that if 1 server was brought down for any maintenance reason (for eg. applying an EM patch), all the EM work load would be on the remaining management server. So it is better to have 3 management servers instead of 2 when the EM system is servicing so many targets. Otherwise, the DBAs would be a tad angry since only 1 remaining managment server would not be able to service them properly during the time of the maintainance fix on the first management server.
The article ends with these words: "You can easily manage hundreds or even *thousands* of targets with such an architecture. The large corporate which had deployed this project scaled easily up to managing 600 to 700 targets with a pool of just three management servers, and the future plan is to manage *2,000 or more* targets which is quite achievable." The 2000 or more is based on the same architecture of 3 managment servers.
So as per the best practice document, 2 management servers would be fine for 1000 servers, although I would still advise 3 servers in practice.
For your case of 200 servers, it depends on the level of monitoring you are planning to do, and the type of database managment activities that
will be done by the DBAs. For eg, if the Dbas are planning on creating standby databases now and then through Grid Control, running backups daily
via Grid Control, cloning databases in Grid Control, patching databases in Grid Control and so on, I would definitely advise a pool of 2 servers
in your case. 2 is always better than 1.

  • JAPEXample01 published in sdn:error Could not get a value to be injected

    HI friends ,
I am  trying to replicate the example JPAEXample01 using JPA in CE1 from  the blogs written by
    Sabine Heider/Adrian Görler.
During the testing of the method create employee i am getting the following error.
"Could not get a value to be injected from the factory."
I tried couple of examples using the above process, still held up with same error.
Any pointers to trouble shoot this ?
    Thanks in advance
    Chandra Dasari.

    HI Pritya Ranjan,
Let me know the entities  and their relations ships you are using for quicker response.
To know the proper error, use the path as mentioned
    nwa->problem management ->logs & traces->locks.
    Email the error code,
The issue might be because of some many probabilities mentioned below.
    Point no 1
Are you using Named queries  : If so check the queries syntax, the syntax used here is different from regulat sql queries.
    Point no 2:
Are you using Java DIctionary  or generic  db and connecting to max db?
    check this part also
    Point no 3:
    Check your connection profile parameters:
    Point no 4 :
Check the data-source-alias,persistence.xml and data-source.xml parameters..
Beacuse i trouble shooted a lot on JPA's and found why the typical error's occurs.

  • Publishing article on SDN

    Hello friends
I have a small query. I want to get an article published on SDN. How do I go about it? I presume that the article will bge reviewed by some expert before being published. How does the whole thing work?

  • Query on Installation of GRC AC 5.3 RAR component

    Hi,
We are implementing SAP GRC 5.3 - RAR Component. Can the tool needs to be implemented in the SAP Server itself or can it be installed in a different server other than SAP.
Can GRC tool be installed in a different server but falling under the same system landscape directory?
In future  we are also planning to go for the other components of GRC like CUP, SUPM & ERM. In that scenario, does these components also needs to be installed in SAP Server itself.
Please suggest the SAP best practice of installation of SAP GRC 5.3
Request the experts to reply at the earliest.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Srihari.K

    Hi Srihari,
I agree with Frank and you need to go to SAP Service Market Place and check out the Installation and Configuration guides for SAP GRC 5.3 at https://service.sap.com/instguides.
I also recommend to go through these articles published on SDN.

  • How to configure FSCM WS-RM on EHP5?

  • Article database like in sdn

    Hello,
I am new to WD4J and would like to know how to program something like the articles database in SDN (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/articles-30days)
How can I program something that with WebDynpro for JAVA? Has someone some example-code for this?
Is it true that in the navigation on the left side shorturls are used?
Do you think that the different articles (link, name and description) are programmed using a formattedTextView?
    Thx, Maximilian

For the search results you could either use a RowRepeater or a container with programmatically created LinkToURL, TextView, Caption elements etc.

  • Unable to Contribute on SDN

    Hello Experts,
I had last submitted an article, which was published and I was duly awarded points for the same.
However, thereafter, I am unable to find the article on SDN and under my profile, the hyperlink is not enabled for the article.
Also, when I click on "Submit and Track Articles and Media", it gives me an error saying "This frame was blocked because it contains some insecure content."
Can someone please throw light on this issue.
Since I am unable to submit further content.

    Hello David,
Thanks for the pointer. After a couple of tries, it is showing up the page in the same browser.
However, the other problem remains unresolved.
The latest article published is not getting displayed in SDN.
When I go to the Content Submission System and click on the article, it displays an error :
Sorry, you can't access this page with your current permissions (403 error).
You may be trying to access a page or document that requires community membership to see. If you're not a member yet, register now!
Or maybe you received a link to this page from another user with permissions different from your own, such as a user with internal permissions.

  • Publishing page from Page Editor in Web Page Composer

I am developing a proof of concept web page in WPC (SPS14).  I have followed the configuration steps and granted myself Full Control in the KM toolbox and the PCD.  I've granted myself the wpc_editor_role, and granted myself Full Control to the Sites folder in the web content.
In following these two SDN blog/articles,
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/5924
    and
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d06d15a7-10de-2a10-639d-9fabeb806a5e
they mention the step of publishing the page from the Page Editor.
I am not able to see the Publish button (as well as Finish/Unlock, Preview, Versions, and others).  I only see Add, Edit, Change Layout, Change Cache Properties, Check Links, Clear, and Information.
Has anyone else encountered this?  It seems like a permissions issue, but I've turned on Full Control everywhere I can find.

    Hi Raj,
I had figured out the same work around(copy and paste) when I worked on EP 7.0 sp13, that was the only option.
The other alternative to that is to integrate the TinyMCE editor, check this relevant link.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f04b5c5d-3fd2-2a10-8ab0-8fa90e3ac162
    Good Luck!

  • How can I link to an article in different issue?

What is the best way to make a link from article A in issue x to article B in issue y?
Every day we refer to articles published in the past, and it would be great to be able to tap the reference, and get the referred article/folio.

this is not yet documented and subject to change in the future. if you want
to experiment with that, look at the syntax I found out here:

  • Accessing what has been published - On Delivery Architecture

    Hi All,
I was wondering if there is any way of getting access to what has been published on the content delivery machine when a template executes on delivery.
I want to be able to interrogate the latest items, based upon publish date; think of the requirement as "Show latest n" of a certain article. I would want to query n of that article, published date descending and return n to the user.
When I look inside my FLEXFAMILY_C_PUBLISH, there is no data there.
In fact, I cannot see any date in any of the PUB* folders; PUBMESSAGE, PUBSESSION,PUBTARGET etc.
I am testing a JSK --> JSK publish locally. Not sure if that is part of the issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jason

    Cheers Ravi,
I have been trying to implement this article:
    http://manifesto.co.uk/working-publish-events-webcenter-sites-part-2/
I can see that on the delivery side, I get the following events:
    Publishing event fired for
    pubsession: 1374098136922
    Publishing task : UNPACKER
Status of the task :  SUBTASK_FINISHED
Message associated with the task : Success
    Publishing task : CACHEUPDATER
Status of the task :  STARTED
Message associated with the task : Importer:CacheUpdate started for pubsession 1374098136922
    Publishing event fired for
    pubsession: 1374098136922
    Publishing task : CACHEUPDATER
Status of the task :  DONE
Message associated with the task : Importer finished for pubsession 1374098136922
So, I get three events served to me. What I want to ask is: Are these good stages to hook into and should I be able to get the published assets at these stages?
I ask because theres nothing in the tables, even when running a Publish. Yet my listener fires, telling me the publish is happening.

  • Cannot publish project in project 2010

I am trying to publish project plan to project server cannot do it.The option is grayed out.
    Any suggestions why?

    Hi,
Per my knowledge, only enterprise projects, which are managed in Project Web App, can be published.
So please make sure that you are creating enterprise projects.
Please follow the steps in the link for publishing the enterprise projects:
    https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Publish-a-project-b4c7593d-0844-4d28-bf2c-5ddff2498e33?ui=en-US&rs=en-GB&ad=GB
As this issue is regarding to Project, I recommend you to post a new thread in Project forum:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?category=projectserver2010.
More experts there will help you to solve this issue and you will get more relative information about this issue.
    Best regards.
