Artifact with i movie hd

Recently got macbook pro 1.83. My first Mac. Form over function, I say.
Thought it would be cats *** for photo and video editing when on the go.
Was hoping to make dvd slideshows preserving as much quality as possible, unlike most of the applications for Windows wich yield relatively disappointing results.
Photos imported into imovie hd (1080i setting), then exported to iDVD...
Pleasingly high quality result, except that photos are cropped (top and bottom, and there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust this) and there was an artifact present on all of the "slides".
The artifact is a small black spot (like the appearance of a large dead pixel) in exactly the same spot on every photo. It's about a quarter of the way from the left side of the photo, and half way down. It shows up when previewing the DVD image on the macbook (from the mounted image, not a physical DVD) and also on my big screen TV after its been burned to a DVD.
At first I thought it might be a camera generated artifact (i.e. from a dust mote or a hot pixel on my Canon sensor that was being exagerated or intensified by the rendering process). So I tried importing photos that I had taken with other digital cameras (Nikon D70 and Olympus) and it's still there! I must therefore conclude that the fault lies within the program or the computer hardware. Bizarre.
I think I'll be returning this thing pronto. I have a number of other issues with this notebook (and Macs in general now), not least of which are the obtuse interface and lack of customizable options within the included cookie-cutter software programs (irritatingly oversimplified).

Movie recording playback artifacts with scalable output?

I've recorded a movie in Captivate 7.01 in demo mode. But I need to have the output scalable. When I publish with scalable html I get all these screen artifacts as the movie plays back. I have video compression turned off and the screen color set to 32 bit? Is there any way to fix this???

You need to work out what is the lowest practical resolution of your main target audience group. If most of your audience is only on 800x600 then by all means build for 800x600. However, I tend to believe that only a small minority of your users would be on such a resolution. Given that most people would be on 1024x768, I would tend to build for something around that size. The ones on 800x600 would of course be disadvantaged. You need to decide if they are a big enough user group to matter.
Whatever you decide, turning on HTML scaling is going to make everybody's output look worse.

[SOLVED] Artifacts with EXAPixmap ON and KMS with ATI OSS drivers

I had some problems for many months on my Arch Linux installation and I couldnt figure out what was causing it, so, because I found the sollution, I wanted to post it here and share it with you.
I, like others, was experiencing huge artifacts with KMS and EXAPixmaps on, on various cases, visuals and textures. After fiddling with all radeon options in xorg.conf and KMS on/off I found out thats its best for me to have KMS on (I couldnt play wine games otherwise) and EXAPixmaps off. But then again, when EXAPixmaps was off, I had poor 2D performance with KMS on, Xrender acceleration wasnt working and was falling back to software engine. Solution came from something that was brought to my attention in this topic. I ve set ARGB visuals off, raster engine for rendering and tried EXAPixmaps on.
It worked! Everything are as they supposed to be. Xrender engine and composite manager are finally working, no more artifacts. Framebuffer memory on my radeon card was somehow cleared. I then later found out an awkward solution on how to clear it by demand... Start X with vesa driver... then fix again xorg.conf back to radeon driver and reboot.
Now I have both 2D and 3D acceleration, I am logged in with KDE and have good performance. My glxgears output is 1000 to 1150 fps (vsync off) and I am using Xrender for the KDE desktop effects.
EDIT: I must clarify that I have an ATI Radeon 9200 Mobility M9+ (R200 serries)

I have ColorTiling set on for performance, be careful as it may be resource hungry in 3D apps but it increases dramatically fps.
You can try setting off EXAPixmaps as well and see how it goes, but then you ll have poor 2D performance and yet videos will play just fine either way.

ITunes 10.0.1 - beach balls with every move

My iTunes 10.0.1 (22) has become so slow with almost every move I make (selecting a song, play/stop, updating info, etc) which results in about a 5-10 second beach ball. I noticed my standard Real Mem usage is running between 600MB-900MB with CPU spiking over 90% with every move. I've reinstalled OSX (10.6.4), iTunes, rebuilt my Library via Consolidation but same. Now my standard Library is large (~170,000 songs stored all on a firewire 2TB drive - which I know is not the norm. But as an experiment I set up a new user built a new library local, added about 5,000 songs and similar results. Also to playback any video via iTunes is almost unusable as it stops and stutters all the way.
Any thoughts? Also is there anyone with a similar size library that can share what their normal memory usage is? This has become so painful to use but with the time invested in building this library with all the details it is out of the questions on changing to something else.

Since you are experiencing problems in more then one user account, follow the instructions here under: Try Disk Utility Check the startup disk for errors just in case.
Check for free disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.

Burning Videos from iPhone/iTunes with Windows Movie Maker?????

How can I burn videos that I take on my 3GS iPhone and than sync to my PC/iTunes with Windows Movie Maker? When I attempt to load or drag the video file into movie maker it give me an error message due to the file type is not supported. Any suggestions or points in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

This is because iTunes Store purchases and in a protected file format, so you won't be able to directly convert them from the protected file into something that Windows movie maker could read.
As the previous poster said, you can try burning the files to a CD, then importing the CD again. I think that ought to work.

I also downloaded Videora, and I was actually able to get my movie into iTunes, but when I converted the movie in iTunes to transfer to my iPod, it lost sound.

Check if GM_CODE in the import parameters is set to "06" for the reversal movement type. If not, please set it to 06.

in our previous company we used 122 movement we capture excise invoice with J1IS and referring the incoming excise

In terms of stock movement, both 122 and 161 represents the return delivery to your vendor. The difference takes place in terms of how you are returning your delivery to your vendor - It is movement type 161 that SAP will automatically propose if your return PO is referenced. Otherwise, 122 movement type will be used instead.

Goods Receipt(Migo) place in storage option with 305 movement type

At the time of goods receipt with 305 movement with reference to material document after posting the reference material document is not stored in SAP.
Reference material document number is done through 305 movement in another plant.
based onthis 303 document number receiving plant will enter the goods receipt with 305 movement with reference to 303 document after posting 305 document we cont able to find the reference document for 305 movement.
in 305 document should show the 303 reference document number but this is not shown in SAP. any possiblity to find out the document number.

the referenced material document from plant B is not copied over into plant A when you do the GR.
you have one material document for the 303 in plant B and a second one for 305 in plant A, thats all.

From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30) or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.

The error was that I should have been posting the link in the body of the blog text.

On my Cinema Display the screen is blurry and shifts with mouse movement.

I have had this screen for a year and a half and only use it once a week in my remote office. This morning I noticed blurring on the screen and the whole screen shifts up/down, left/right with mouse movement. Please help. I am getting a headache.

Press Command-Option-8 once or twice.
You have Zoom on. It is controlled in "Seeing" in "Universal Access" system preference, and by Control-Scrollwheel.
