Artifacts in iPhoto pics

Problems on a friends Dual 2Ghzs power pc G5. 1.5gb ram
Running 10.4.10.
In iPhoto 6.0.6 there are artifacts showing randomly on the thumbnail pics.
They are also present when viewing full size.
They are present when printing from iPhoto.
Viewing the originals in Photoshop they are fine.
Printing from Photoshop is fine.
Thing that I have tried so far.
Zapped the Pram.
Tried the graphics card in my machine works fine.
Transfered iPhoto library onto my machine and it works fine.
Reset the motherboard button under memory chips.
Swopped the memory chips with my own just the same.
Installed a fresh system onto an external HD and created a new iPhoto library on it.
The artifacts where still present.
Two monitors connected one apple flat other CRT artifacts on both.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Problem was one of the processors. Sorted at the Genius bar Sheffield UK.

That's exactly what I tried to do, but the iPhoto librry doesn't show up in the pulldown menu. If I click "Choose Folder", the iPhoto library is greyed out and unable to be selected.
For some reason, iPhoto is an option in the pulldown library on my older iMac but not on my MacBook Pro. What gives?

  • Can I view date and time (metadata) of iphoto pics after sync?

Successfully synced thousands of iphoto pics to the ipad 2.  Is it possible to see the metadata - actually, just the date and time of the pic - on the ipad 2 photos?  Is there another photo app that lets me see the date and time?

Check out my PhotoMeta app. It's free.

  • How to transfer iPhoto pics?

I just can't seem to transfer my Iphoto pics and videos from my macbook pro to my new 5C Iphone? I know Itunes is somehow involved, but i can't make it work. Help?????   :-)

Connect the phone to the computer, open iTunes, click on the phone under Devices in the left pane, click on Photos in the row across the top of the window, put a checkmark in front of "Sync Photos From" and choose iPhoto in the area directly to the right of "Sync Photos From" and then make your selections of what you want to include. Note that the sync is essentially one way and each time it is done it will set the non-Camera Roll photos on your phone to match the current iTunes settings/selections. • Iphoto pics are fuzzy

HELP! I'm uploading my iphoto pics to other greeting card supplier. My pics look fab in iphoto but when uploaded they are not of quality recommended for printing. They appear fuzzy and won't be accepted for printing. I've considered using iphoto greeting cards but costs are outrageous.
I've tried resizing to 900x600 and 800x600 before uploading and that hasn't helped either.

Wow. What a lot of work!
First, let's address PS. Open iPhoto and, under the iPhoto menu, select Preferences. Then select the General tab. Finally, configure "Edit Photo" for Photoshop.
Import pics normally into iPhoto. Then, when you want to edit, double-click and PS will open. Edit your photo and do a normal "Save" in PS. That "Save" will be magically reflected into iPhoto. When you return to iPhoto, you'll see the edited photo there (it might take a second or two).
When you want to upload to anywhere OR when you want to make a CD for your favorite photofinisher or your friends, export the desired photos to a temporary folder on the desktop, exit iPhoto and work from that temp folder. Trash it when you're finished. Don't get burned by the "Burn" button inside iPhoto. That creates a miniature library intended for use by iPhoto on a different Mac. It only confuses things when your purpose is different.
If you ever wish to use the iPhoto editor for a "quick and dirty" edit, you have two choices:
    1) Hold down the Control key while you click once on a photo and then make your decision from the several displayed choices.
    2) Look for the icon resembling a TV with arrows going away from the corners. (This icon is on Version 6 but I don't remember if it's present with earlier versions.) It's at the bottom of the screen toward the left side. Click once on a photo (to select it) and then click the TV icon.

  • I am not able to move my IPhoto pics to the cloud.  Do I have to convert all IPhoto albums to Moble Galleries first?

I am not able to move my IPhoto pics to the cloud.  Do I have to convert all IPhoto albums to Moble Galleries first?

Also, when I add things to my desktop they are no longer showing up on my actual desktop. However, they are in the folder for my desktop on Finder. I'm not sure if these problems are related in any way.

  • Iphoto Pics on IDVD - why poor quality when shown on TV?

When I download IPhoto pics using IDVD and show them on my tv, the quality of the pictures is far less than when I view them on my computer screen.  Is there anything I can do to improve the quality?

This might help: iDVD 7.0 Help (iLife '08): Preparing images for iDVD slideshows.  If you intend to use the Ken Burns effect then I'd doulbe the size recommended in the above article.
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.  To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.
If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good and you can then burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available, 2x-4x, to assure the highest burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • No iphoto pics can be selected for desktop

I just completed a software update and when it restarted, my desktop picture was replaced with the Apple purple starburst one. Argh. So I go to System Prefs, Desktop/Screen Saver and when I select any of my iPhoto pics it will not set the desktop and the image thumbnail in the upper left of the pane shows a Question Mark. However any Apple pic does indeed show on the desktop and in the thumbnail.
I really liked having my custom pictures. Sigh.
    Whatever happened?

I have not purchased the latest version on this machine. I have on my laptop and other office mac, but i do not share all the photos between these 3 macs.
    A R G H
I did open iPhoto and saw my photos. I then rebuilt the library according to the link you supplied (Very thoughtful, thank you so much).
Then as you suggested I tried dragging a photo to the desktop - nope.
Then I tried setting the desktop picture - nope.
THEN I double clicked a pic in iPhoto and that's when I got the big ugly gray horrid exclamation point.
So from the file menu of iPhoto I dragged to browse backups and lo and behold when I double click on pics, some show up (usually smart albums) and others simply show a blank gray window.
    Sigh.
I have been backing up for about a year now. And in February the back up said there wasn't enough room. So I stopped backing up photos. In trying to figure out what was going on, in time machine setup I removed music, movies and pics from backup. Somehow I managed to lose permissions to iPhoto - this must be the real issue. But when I did a restore from the back up prior to February, all photos returned (or so I thought, until today.) In typing this post is when I realized that OBVIOUSLY these are related issues. is there any hope / help I may get my photos back? Now this is NOT the original question I posed, but certainly is more relevant and since the photo is not there, it can't be set as a desktop pic.

  • Facebook won't let me select iPhoto pic's to upload

Facebook won't let me select iPhoto pic's to upload (see below), the option to select iPhoto is grayed out. Is there a way of doing this? Thanks for your help

That is because you are not doing it correctly - you never directly access teh contents of the iPhoto library - you use the media browser - see the user tip on accessing your files in iPhoto for details on the many correct ways to access yoru photos

  • Editing iPhoto pics Using Aperture 3 Help

I am using Aperture 3 to fine tune edit my iPhoto pics.  Question is....once its edited, how do I get the revised image to save or better replace the original in iPhoto (without dragging copying and pasting?)

    You can't.
Aperture is not a photo editor like Photoshop, Acorn or Pixelmator.
Like iPhoto, it's a database. Images have to be imported to Aperture. To get them out agin they have to be exported.
Aperture is not an external editor for iPhoto.
It's a complete replacement for iPhoto.
You can share your previews with iPhoto - but that requires dragging from the Media Browser.
Honestly: you need to decide which app you want to manage your photos - Aperture or iPhoto and then forget the other one.

  • Will my iPhoto pics be deleted if I disable "photos" on iCloud?

will my iPhoto pics be deleted if I disable "photos" on iCloud?
I want to free up my iPhone storage. I manually drop all of my iPhone pics onto my computer into iPhoto. I do not want to use icloud for this. if I disable "photos" on iCloud from my iPhone, will my iPhoto pics be deleted on my PC?

No, your iPhoto pics won't be deleted.

  • Is there anyway to place info on iphoto pics?

Is there anyway to place ©info on iphoto pics?

If you referring to "watermarking" (having the © info appear on the image) then no, iPhoto does not have that capability. You can, however use an application on your Mac called preview. In preview you can annotate images. Meaning, for you needs, add a text box. Open the image in Preview. Click annotate.
    Click the text box generator.
Type your text. You can edit the text using the format bar or go to Tools > Show Fonts in the menu bar.
By the way, you can type a copyright symbol by holding down the option key and typing the letter G.
    Good luck!

  • Retrieving Iphoto pics after emptying the trash

I was saving my Iphoto pics to a zip disk and when completed I accidentally emptied the photos icon into the trash and deleted the trash. Thus I lost some pictures I had not yet saved to disk. Is there a way to retreive them maybe by reinstalling the software or are they gone for good?

    You must understand this difference.
You can keep all kinds of photos in the Pictures Folder. You can have all kinds of folders in that Pictures Folder.
But every picture you imported or dragged into the iPhoto window is stored in a very special folder - iPhoto Library folder in that Pictures Folder.
The Iphoto Library Folder is where everything you have done in iPhoto is stored -- it is the database. There is nothing stored in the application.
Now what you are saying makes no sense unless you moved the database - the iPhoto Library folder to another location - which is okay, as long as iPhoto knows where the database is.
    Simple version
iPhoto stores everything you do in a database called the iPhoto Library folder which by default is placed in your Pictures Folder. You can also use this Pictures folder to store photos that are not in iPhoto
I guess they are gone for good and no way to retrieve them,
if you deleted the database - the iPhoto Library Folder - then what was in iPhoto is GONE. You will have to move on to "data recovery" software as mentioned in earlier posts.

  • 6 months of iphoto pics now missing. Where are they and how can I get them back?

Yesterday I was downloading some photos from my camera. When I finished I looked at my events and every photo and event from the last months were gone. The most recent download was preceded by pictures from last August and everything else was gone!
I have been reading this discussion and I have tried a rebuild of the library = no success.
I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and I am in the midst of creating a rebuilt library, but something tells me that it is just rebuilding the library with missing photos again.
Mac OSX version 10.6.8 and iPhoto 9.2.1

yes, I found an iPhoto Library folder on the second drive that has a date of August 22 2011, which seems to be right, everything since is gone.
So when I downloaded on Saturday i downloaded new pics into this old folder.
Where is the other, the including recent 6 months iPhoto Library folder?
    I did not trash anything.

  • My computer just had to get a new hard drive and we reloading info onto the new hard drive...my iphoto pics are all, there save about 8, but there are NO thumbnails. I tried rebuilding the thumbnails...nothing. I tried creating a new library...nothing.

I have recently had to purchase a new battery and hard drive. Because it wouldn't back up completely, I was able to recover most information, but it looked a bit different or I have found items in different places. One thing that is happening is in iphoto. All my pics are there, but there are NO thumbnails visible. I have tried rebuilding the thumbnails...nothing. I have tried creating a new library...no info even transferred. Any suggestions?

    What version of iPhoto?
Can you view the pics at full size?
