Artifacts problems

Hello all, this is my first post!
I have a pavilion dv6 15.6" laptop with ati radeon 5650 switchable graphics. I have had it since the past summer. Recently, I have been having problems while playing certain games (Mafia II and Borderlands) with graphics artifacts. Parts of the screen seem to "stretch" and it makes Mafia II almost unplayable. I have done some research and think it may be something to do with my video ram. The graphics card is 1gig dedicated.
Thanks for your time,

What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).
CS6
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
No updates.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
Mac OSX 10.6.8
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
R3D
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
No error message. When I zoom in out and out, the sequence graphics freeze, I have to load another sequence to reload it, but same happens again on zoom or scrolling the timeline.
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
As explained above
Has this ever worked before?
In CS5.5
What other software are you running?
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
None
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
8 Core Intel Mac with 12 Gb of Memory.  Nvidia 8800 GT
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?
Yes
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?
Specific to the sequence

  • Photoshop CS5 update doesn't fix artifact problem in the menu bar !

    Hi to all,
I've installed the new update (december 7) recommended by Adobe, but that doesn't fix the Artifact problems in the menu bar !!!
More, with my Windows 7 Pro (French language), Photoshop CS5 video pilot create artifacts in the menu bar in several situations.
With Windows classic Theme chosen, theme management disabled:
    1. Opening a photo and applying a filter (especially Noise Reduction).
    2. Opening a photo and changing some preferences.
    3. Opening a photo with Windows 7 File Explorer working cause the pilot to crash with a black screen, ans followed by a message saying that Win 7 has recovered the video pilot.
To suppress most of the problems, I need to Activate "Themes" and choose an Aero theme or the Basic Theme.
I also need to activate some items that slow the PC !
    Very strange !
Could someone help, me please ?
    Have a Nice Day.
    Thierry

Yes, I've an Asus ENGT220/G/DI/1GD3, tried Windows default pilot, 2009 Asus pilot "nv19045_Win7Vista64.zip", and 2010 latest version "nv25919_Win7Vista64.zip", no change !
More, I've exchanged the video car by a "monster" ENGTX465 with it's driver, NO CHANGE !
    So what to do ?!
    Help, please !

  • 60fps footage in 30fps timeline plays with artifacts problem

I have to types of footage for a project: 720P 60fps shot in avchd and 1080P 30 shot with an HDV camera.
I am trying to combine the clips in the Premiere pro CS 4.1 AVHD 720P30 sequence preset. I do have to resize the 1080P footage but that is fine. The 60P footage plays at the correct speed, but it is filled with artifacts during playback in the timeline.
When I view the 60fps footage in the AVCHD 720P60 sequence preset, it playse back smoothy with no artifacts.
Am I missing a setting (such as frame blend maybe) or should I just try to edit everything in a 72060fps sequence and hope the hdv footage will be okay?
    Thanks!

That's strange--the Source monitor is, as far as I'm aware, frame rate and format-agnostic, and should playback whatever is in it at its native frame rate. Unlike a sequence (and therefore, the Program monitor), it bends to the will of the material it contains, regardless of what it is. I'm indeed bewildered by this, and I'm sorry to say I don't have any idea what the problem might be. Did you change the interpretation of the footage after you imported it, or is it "as-is"? What is the playback quality setting for the source monitor?
EDIT: By way of example, the screen shot below shows a 29.97P clip in the source monitor, and then the same clip and frame in a 23.976 sequence. Frame Blending is on for the clip in the sequence, resulting in the smear, but that's not a problem in the source monitor:

  • Rendering and Artifacting problems on Mac OS

I am currently deveolping a game and after recently installing Flash Player 11 I have been getting rendering and artifacting issues along with mouse over states of the stage not being recongnized. The swf works fine in the flash preview of Flash CS5 and on a windows machine. The issue only shows up on Mac OS. The problem occurs in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. This is also occuring on others Macs in the office as well. Link to the game http://bs-dezign.com/2011_Cyclones.swf. The viewing area is down the center of the stage aligning with hud.
Thank you for any help your can provide.

  • Extreme graphic artifact problems

My Mac Mini suddenly developed a problem with some weird graphical artifacts - all over the screen in all applications.
It's not a display problem, from what I can tell, as I get the same effect when accessing through VNC.
It first seemed to be shading/shadows where the problem was worst, but now it's all over, and the computer is now utterly unusable.
Starting up in safe mode the problem is gone.
I have removed all the start up programs, reset the PMU, reinstalled the OS (and even tried downgrading to 10.4 and upgrading to 10.6), all to no avail.
I am now at wit's end... Anyone else come across this or have other ideas?

    Hi,
According to my experience, I thought it could't be achieved to spoof a router log to say Ethernet Lan from offsite.

  • Rendering artifact problem on scroll

    Hi forum
I have built a forum manager and all is well and good, except there seems to be a problem with artifacts when scrolling the form.  Screenies below:
This is what it looks like before any rendering problems
Here you can see its rendered incorrectly when i've scrolled around.
Does anyone know what the problem is?  Its worse on some browsers and on older machines.  Is there a way to stop this or reduce the risk of it happening?
    Thanks alot
    Tom

I have been struggling with this problem a lot as well.  Exactly the same.  And I can't find toot anywhere about it.
I have found that setting your wmode to "window" fixes the problem for me. I see no rendering artifacts at least.  However that isn't an option for me in my current situation since there are other elements on the page that must be renderered on top of the player.
If you have figured anything else out then I would be very very interested in knowing how you got it fixed!

  • Urxvt character artifact problem.

    Here's the problem:
When I use the up/down arrows to scroll through recently used commands, sometimes characters "stick" so that it looks like I have a chunk of a recent command in the line. Backspace does not delete these and they don't do anything if I hit Enter.
They disappear if I resize the window (or do anything that forces the window to refresh itself).

  • [GeForceFX] 6800 GT artifact problems at stock speed

Hello, I have some problems with my new system. When I run Far Cry, Doom3 or some nvidia demos, I get some nasty artifacts.
Have a look at the horrrors:
    http://xarragon.terminal.se/diverse/nalu-bug1.JPG
    http://xarragon.terminal.se/diverse/nalu-bug2.JPG
    http://xarragon.terminal.se/diverse/thief3-bug1.JPG
I have tried both nvidia and MSI drivers, with no difference. The problem doesn't disappear when I open the case and have two 120 CFM  120 mm's fans cooling the card. The only way I've made it disappear is to underclock the memory to ~907 Mhz. Then it runs fine in all games, even with closed case.
Temperatues are around 50 degrees Celcius for idle, and 66-69 degrees full load. The adjustment potentiometer is set to maximum cooling on the card. The card doesn't seem to run too hot, since the fan never spins up to max (it does during POST, which can be easily heard).
PSU was my first suspect. It is an Antec TruePower 380W S (the version that comes with Antec Sonata housings). It outputs 24A on the +12V rails, and the voltage is stable at 12.08V at all times, regardless of activity. Card is connected to two different power cables, which it does not share. More people with the same problems have the exact same PSU.
Product information and specifications: http://www.antec.com/ec/support_productInfo_details.php?ProdID=20381 .
I've not tried flashing any BIOSes, since im uncertain about the PSU stability. The system however is rock solid in both Windows XP and Linux, and has not crashed a single time, which doesn't really suggest PSU power shortage...
    Any help appreciated
    Martin Persson, Sweden
    Here are my system specs:
    MSI K8N Platinum SLI (retail)
    MSI NX6800GT T2D256E (retail)
    AMD64 3500+ (clawhammer) + Zalman CNPS7700 AlCu 120mm
    AOpen H600A + Antec TruePower 380W S PSU (20-pin molex)
    2x512 Corsair XMS3200C2
    Soundblaster Live! Player 1024 (retail)
    + NEC DVD-RW, Pioneer 105 DVD-R + Seagate 250Gb SATA HD
2 Papst 80mm chassis fans + removed card slot covers.

My opinion is the card is defective and would have it replaced.
Truepower supplies are pretty good and I doubt that is the problem. I'm using only a 330 Truepower with an overclocked system with no problems at all. My 6600GT does not use as much power as a 6800, but it's not that much of a difference maybe 20 watts at the most.
Those artifacts are from bad memory or even a bad GPU that just can't handle default speed IMO. It could be from not being cooled well enough, but going by what you have checked already I doubt it. So If it were my card I would return it for another one.
One thing you didn't mention testing was drivers. I doubt drivers are the cause, but still worth a try. If you try a few different versions and still get the same artifacts then it wouldn't be the drivers IMO.

    which PSU should i buy?
If you want to try another psu any Corsair single rail psu from 550W and above would be fine. Recommended is Corsair VS Series VS650. Quite cheap but plenty of power for your system. It offers 50A on a single +12v rail.

  • MSI 4870 MD1G - Annoying Artifact problem ...

    Greetings!
I tried to find a solution to my problem, but unfortunately I didn't find anything ... So:
I bought a MSI 4870 MD1G card 2 months ago to my new PC.
    Specs:
    AMD Phenom II X2 - 550
    Gigabyte 770XT-UDP4
    4GB OCZ Platinum 1600 MHz DDR3
    Samsung Pinpoint F1 1TB
    MSI 4870 MD1G
    Enermax Liberty 400W
I was try it, run a lot of tests and I was very happy with it, it's fast and stable ...
But ... after a few days later I started a game (STALKER Clear Sky ...) and some graphics artifacts appears! I quickly quit from the game and check temperatures and anything ... but everything seems to be ok ... (I didn't OC the card ...)
I was downloaded some GPU tests (Furmark, GPU Caps Viewer, etc ...) and I found a lot of artifacts ...
After when I restarted my PC, the problem dissapears ... There is no artifacts, an I can play more than 8 hour without any problems ...
Few days after ... Artifacts again ... I just restart my computer and the problem is fixed ...
I was made a lot of trials, with XP, Vista and Win7, with different drivers (9.6, 9.7, 9.8, 9.9 ...) and the artifacts always come back ... If I let to run the game/testprogram to run with artifatcts, the VPU Recovery is fix the problem, or I need to restart my pc ...
    But its very annoying ...
It's hard to reproducate this problem, so I don't want to RMA this Card ... (Actually I like it, quiet and fast ) ...
    Any idea?
Thanks for the help! (And sorry for my English ...)

wow, I mean WOW!!! I removed the gigantic 220mm fan, set fan on the board to 60% (almost inaudible in my system) and set the memory to 925MHz... It helped! It really helped! I saw one or 2 black squares in 1.5 hour game but it much more stable than 100% fan / 900MHz memory. Amazing! How did you come up with that solution?
    Great!
I played some hours with the problem and try a lot of ideas (Thats my work too, I'm a HW/SW troubleshooter in an electronik factory )
I'm happy, because we found a temporary solution ... So we need to wait for the official solution

  • Artifact problems burning QT to DVD

I'm trying to burn a 3 minute QT movie that I made in FCE4 to Roxio Toast 6 and I keep getting artifacts. In preferences I choose 1x speed but when I go to burn it changes to 4x.  What can I do to defeat the artifacts and get a clean burn?  Can I use disk utility to accomplish this?  I've tried that 3 times, it burns a disc and tells me it was a successful burn but each time the disc is blank.  I have an iBook with OS 10.5.8 and have 32 GB of free space on my hard drive.  Any help will be appreciated, thanks

I converted everything to AIC to use in FCE4.
The project was DV NTSC 48.
Then you have a mismatch between your clip properties and the sequence you edited the clips into.  You have AIC clips in a DV sequence.  I strongly suspect this is the origin of your artifacts.
With all AIC clips, you should be using one of the AIC Easy Setups to create your sequence.  Use the AIC Easy Setup that best matches your clip properties.  Then place the clips in the AIC sequence.
Also, be sure to Render All before exporting your video.

  • Spry SSI IE8 Artifact Problem

we have setup our intranet site with several spry menus. So that we do not have to copy content we have master menu files and are using server side includes like the following: <!--#include virtual="/hr/left_menu.asp"-->
The menus work but we are having problems with how the menu displays. All looks well until we scroll down on the page. The menu displaces and looks like it follows the page content. When we put the menu code directly into the page this does not happen. When you mouse over the 'displaced' menu the position resets to its correct position... sometimes, others it just disappears all together. Help would be appreciated as we are looking at putting this new site into production soon.
Pic below.... First glance all is as it is supposed to be...
    Then...

This is probably a stupid question, but have you adjusted the links to supporting files within your menu include?
To put it another way, if you include a file from another dirctory/folder, then all of the links to supporting files (JS and CSS) should be the same as if these files were called from the parent page.
Better still, place all refered to CSS and JS files within the parent document and strip the included document from all code with the exception of the menu markup and the menu constructor.
For more info read here http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/sprymenu/ssi.php
    I hope this helps.
