Artists appearing multiple times

In the artists list on my 5th Gen 80gb iPod, several artists appear multiple times. The thing is, they aren't just different songs which has slight variations in the spelling of the artist, whichever copy of the artist you choose, they all lead to the same songs. And no, there aren't multiple copies of the songs on my iPod and the same thing does not happen in iTunes.
I made a video to demonstrate the problem which you can view here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Artist Name Multiple Times?

    Hi -
When I d'load songs to my Nano, and then select "artist" in the menu, some of the artist's names appear multiple times. What causes this, and how do I correct it?
    Thanks in advance!
    G

Check the spellings are EXACTLY the same and that there are no extra spaces on the end. Do this in iTunes. You can Get Info on multiple songs at once and then type in the right Artist name just once.

  • One user appearing multiple time in Users on System report

    Hi,
While checking the logging report I found one user is appearing multiple times. Is this the normal behaviour of Hyperion of Is there any setting in Hyperion to display one user only once.
Also can we control the users the from loging into systme multiple time at a time.
    Thanks,
    Ajaya Kumar

If multiple people know the username and password they can definitely be shared. This is a violation of your licensiing and is a major reason why most SOX departments require Active Directory linking. For testing purposes I have created native IDs to be shared among people so that I know they are identical.

  • Same book appears multiple times in iBook collections. I have bought a few books in iBooks store but each title appear about 50 times. Also after synching or deleting book titles, they keep on re-appear.

Bought over the lat year a number of book titles but lately the book titles appear multiple time in the collection. It makes the collection UN accessible if you have to scroll down pages of the same title. I have tried to remove them from the collection but that doesn't work, they keep on re-appearing after the title is deleted. Is there a solution to this?

Oh, well that was a whole other kettle of fish:
Oh the G4 I attempted to install iLife '08 before Lepoard was available. About the only thing that installed cleanly was iPhoto. I ended up reinstalling everything back to iLife '06, and then upgrading back to the current stable version of the iLife '06 version. I didn't attempt a reinstall until after I upgraded to Leopard.
When I did reinstall, I made a iLife '06 folder, copied all iLife apps into it, and upgraded. Seemed to work, except for the part where iMovie gets left behind and iDVD is only mostly functional.
When I installed on the other 2 machines, it was after installing Leopard and all upgrades. On those 2 machines, I didn't bother with the copy, I just moved everything to the iLife '06 folder I created, and did a fresh install.
I didn't have to do anything with the iPhoto Libraries, that I can recall.
I always do an upgrade, never an archive and install. I've never had a problem with this back to 10.1 or 10.2.

  • All my TV shows in iCloud on my iTunes appear multiple times and with wrong art, why?

I keep all my past TV show seasons on iCloud, but I don't know why now they appear multiple times (even 10 times) and with all the "art" in Shows tab completely wrong in iTunes.
For instance, Glee in the screen attached appears 10 times: 4 of them with Futurama artwork, 5 with Glee artwork, and once with The Good Wife artwork.
If you see all the TV shows with multiple seasons (Glee, Futurama, The Good Wife) in the screenshot look all messed up and multiple times... this happens with every TV show that I have purchased more than one season... all of it is in iCloud, I keep nothing in my local HDD's.
Since I updated to iTunes 11, this happens.... anyone having troubles with this view????

add your release date manually if it isn't there.
unfortunatly iTunes won't let you do it. i use a program called "TvTagger". just search google, third result from top, that's the one. you have to enter a release date like this: YYYY-mm-dd . I did it and I think it's worth the hassle. not only are your shows sorted correct, but the ugly "Unknown Release Date" line is replaced by the actual release date

  • Artist is appearing multiple times.

I am having an interesting problem with iTunes 10.6.1.7
I have one artist that is appearing three times in my artist list.
I have checked all the fields, and deleted and re-entered all the information manually, but still the artist is continuing to be listed three times.
    Any suggestions?

I'm also having this issue on my MacBook Air. Started with Yosemite public beta 4. My machine is only listed once in the finder sidebar but with a number in parenthesis next to it. The number seems to slowly increase as the day goes on. I've only gotten the "there is already a machine with that name" dialog once when manually deleting the additional characters. It's not causing any issues but it sure is annoying, I have a bit of OCD where these things are concerned. I've done a few searches on the matter and it appears this also happens on older versions of OS X but I have yet to find a definite solution, or cause.

  • How do I stop an album appearing multiple times in album view?

Whenever I try to look at albums in album view some of them are appearing multiple of times. I have gone through everything I can think of made sure that all the sort fields are the same etc, yet they still appear more than once. Now with the update to iTunes 11, whenever I try and search an album it it is giving the me the multiple versions instead of just the one. This is really infuriating and I have no idea how to change it

    Hi,

  • My Mac is appearing multiple times in Finder

Since I've upgraded to Yosemite, my Mac is now listed multiple times (8) under Shared in Finder.  The main device is listed as XXXX (8).  When I used Bonjour Browser, it looks like they are being shared under Apple Remote Desktop XXXX (2), XXXX (3)....XXXX (8).  How do I remove all of the multiple appearances and get back to one under Device?  When I click on each one, nothing appears.  I don't have any remote desktop software that I'm aware of.

  • Same Artist Listed Multiple times on iPod..

Before anyone tells me about changing the artist info of the song, I know about that. The problem is not the file info, I haven't changed the artist's info in about 6 months but all of sudden, on my iPod only not iTunes, the same artist is listed about 10 times. I only have one album of the artist on my iPod, and like I said the files haven't been edited in months. I know its not a serious problem, but it is annoying scrolling through the same artist and I am hoping my iPod is becoming corrupted. Anyone experience the same problem?

    Hmm...same here.
I had posted my question under the itunes post about a week ago and heard nothing back.
In my case, after the recent update I added a new album to an aready existing artist in my iTunes, synced and the next time I used the ipod , I noticed it had the same Artist 3 times, identical playlist, album tiltes, and tracks!
I've unchecked the artist, synced, and as expected they go from the ipod.
I check them back on and they appear 3 times again after syncing.
The only thing I have yet to do is a total restore. But with 60gigs of video audio and photos, its a bit of a pain!
Im getting very wary of these Itunes updates, remember the infamous -48 error that had every one baffled for about a month?
In my case the artist in question is New Order. I've renamed all my NO tracks to New Order2 as the artist, synced and the artist comes up twice!
I've renamed them back to 'New Order' and clicked on 'Album artist' to be 'New Order' also and re synced and I get back 3 in the list!!!

  • Same Artist Lists Multiple Times

I'm confused on why a random artist will list itself multiple times when others will organize themsevles under one name with a drop menu. All the artist/album/track information is listed correctly but on Itunes and on the Ipod it will list it seperately instead of together. Anyone know how to fix that?

You need to make sure the artist name is spelt in an identical manner on every track. Even an extra space at the end of the name that you might not notice can make a difference. Try this even if everything looks the same. Sort your iTunes library by artist to bring your tracks together. Click on the first track by your artist, hold down the shift key and click on the last track in the list, this will highlight all in between. Right click on the list and choose Get Info, you get a dialogue box asking if you want to update multiple items, click Yes. If you see the "artist" field is left blank, then there is a discrepancy with that name. Overtype the artist name then click ok and this will ensure the whole selection is identical. Once you've done this connect your iPod, if you are updating automatically it will pick up the changes. If you are updating manually follow the instructions above with the iPod connected and carry out the changes directly on the iPod's song list.
If the name is not the issue, try this. Highlight all the songs for that artist, right click on them and select "apply sort field/same artist".

  • Artist listed multiple times?

I have a 30 gig Ipod. The artist menu lists the same artist multiple times. How do I remove the multiple?

A spelling or punctuation mistake, or sometimes a trailing space usually causes this after the artists and/or song name, which fools the iPod into thinking that there are two different artists or songs. The trailing space is the hardest to spot.
Best way to cure this is to go into iTunes, highlight that artist and/or songs, right click on them and select "get info".
This brings up the multiple song info window. If you see the "artist" field is left blank, then there is a discrepancy with that name.
So to correct this, in the artist or song box retype the name, as you would like it, and then click ok. You should do this even if no mistakes are immediately visible.
Re sync this new artist/song info to your iPod.
If the above is not the issue, try this also. Highlight all the songs for that artist, right click on them and select "apply sort field/same artist".
    See if that works.
