Apple doesn't have permission from the people who hold the Canadian copyright to that music in iTunes to sell it on the iTunes Store.

  • Paid for downloaded music (not from Itunes store) is not showing up in my library s usual. Neither are imported Cds. what gives?

Paid for (not from Itunes store) music downloaded not showing up in library as usual. Imported CD also not appearing as usual. What gives?

I have seen 3 potential solutions in this forum
    1) If you are using iTunes Match Store > Update iTunes Match
    2) Logging out of itunes store and logging in again
    3) Downloading Free single of the week - no idea why this should work but people have reported it does

  • Music not from iTunes

hi i was just wondering if i can put music onto my ipod nano that is not from iTunes. i am having great difficulty

u gotta play around more with iTunes functions if you're not familiar. In fact, I am a newbie myself, just got my Nano last week. U'd probably need to create a new playlist in your Nano, and just drag&drog any files from iTune library to your new playlist. On the other hand, I suggest you read up the iTune manuals, would be easier for you to get around iTune. Hope this helps

  • Library contains music not purchased itunes store

I want to purchase AirPort to have music from my itunes library available to play over my stereo.  I had heard that even though I loaded music I had purchased from CD's as well as from the itunes store, that only those tunes purchased from the itunes store could be played with this system.  Surely not!  If the music has been legitimately purchased (I have over 5,000 songs) whether via old CDs or the itunes store, why should it matter?

You may have better luck with your question in the iTunes area of these forums as this really does not have anything to do with AirPort networking.
However, you can stream music, other than iTunes Store purchased music, to the AirPort Express or Apple TV.

Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    maybe this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

  • How may I prevent loss of Music - not from iTunes - on a new computer?

The original iTunes Library I had for my iPod Touch was on a computer that has broken down.
I am concerned about what I'm reading in the iTunes HELP files, because I see no way to prevent loss of my non-purchased (at least from iTunes) music when syncing with a newly authorized computer. I do not have all of the original CDs anymore for most of this music.
I have just installed iTunes on this new computer & wish to save ALL current iPod Touch content into this new and empty iTunes Library!  What must I do to save my non-purshased content?
I did just do a BACKUP of my iPod contents but have stopped there, not knowing if it will contain everything...  What now?
    THANKS!

Well, I really do appreciate your input Kappy.  When it comes to doing backups, your info is correct and, in general, very helpful.  I am suspicious, however if it will actually have any bearing on the iTunes interaction and what iTunes will allow me to place into the new library.
As for iTunes and what it will allow - or not allow, I'm not sure that the backup will allow me to slip it into the library per se.  I thinking that it's an iTunes issue instead of a backup issue, but maybe not...
If I had any other model than a Touch, I believe I could use the iPod as a hard drive and transfer accordingly, but having a Touch, I do think my original question remains unanswered.
    Thanks again!

  • I want to delete all music not Syncing, iTune want to delete everything

I want to delete all music in my iPhone to gain space as I do not use it for listening music anyway.
My old computer was stolen and now when I plug my iPhone in itune and try syncing ZERO music it say it will erease everything.
I fear it will remove my Apps, apps data, photo and most importantly I fear it will change the order of my icons.
I do not have ticked anything but "Sync music" will it delete all music or EVERYTHING ?
Someone told me I should use WinSCP to delete the file manually,
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I believe MediMonkey will do that. It requires iTunes to be installed, but you don't need to open iTunes or anything.
    http://www.mediamonkey.com/information/free/
It is free but only available for PC and not for mac.
I used to use it when I had a PC, and I think you can just select all the iPhone music on it and delete it.

  • Music not in iTunes or iPod help please!!

I am currently on Windows Vista, but my old computer was XP. The hard drive of my old computer got so full I had to delete all my music to free up some space. I thought I had backed it up on disc use on my iPod, but later I found out that somehow that hadn't happened.
So I figured I could just transfer everything to my new computer from my ipod. I hooked it up, told it not to erase anything, enabled manual use, all that good stuff, and itunes locks up. So I restarted my computer and replugged the ipod, but rater than ask me the same questions itunes just erased everthing on my ipod! The only things in itunes and my ipod are purchases! Most of my songs were from CDs, a lot of which I don't own or have since lost. I had over a thousand songs and now I have 96.
Is there anyway to recover songs off your ipod once itunes decides to delete them or am I just screwed? I didn't even get a chance to download a program that could have transfered my music from my ipod. Please help me!

*The hard drive of my old computer got so full I had to delete all my music to free up some space.*
You really painted yourself into a corner. The better solution would have been to purchase an external drive. I've seen 290G units for less than US$100. The iPod should NEVER be the prime storage device.
*I thought I had backed it up on disc use on my iPod...*
You've got it backwards. The computer's hard drive backs up the iPod. Further, the computer's hard drive should be backed up to CDs/DVDs or yet another external hard drive but certainly not the iPod as the iPod backs up NOTHING.
*Most of my songs were from CDs, a lot of which I don't own...*
Well, now that I realize that you're stealing music, I no longer have any sympathy for you.

  • How do i watch a movie that is not in itunes canada store?

I have found the movie I want to watch, but it is not available in the canada store, only the US one, is there a way I can watch it?

No, not without moving to the US and changing your store country.
The iTunes Store in a country is intended only for use by that country's residents, and only while they are in the country. To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card (or other card type if acceptable in a country) issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  You are also restricted to waiting 90 days between country changes.

  • Sorting by artist does not update (iTunes 11 only)

I never should have updated to iTunes 11. I've had nothing but headaches since I dropped 10. Most of them are bearable, but one has me completely boggled.
When I did the update, iTunes tried to outsmart me and played around with my Artist info on some of the tracks where I'd changed that field. I don't know why it did that since I'd changed the field on purpose to make sorting easier, but whatever.
The problem is that when I go back into the track's info (using iTunes' "Get Info" or just by editing the field directly in the grid view), iTunes steadfastly refuses to re-sort based on the new value.
For example, I've purchased the Sweeney Todd soundtrack. One of the tracks, "Pretty Women" originally listed "Alan Rickman & Johnny Depp" as the artist. While this is kind of sort of correct (they're just performers, not the artist) it at least put the track in the appropriate place when sorted by artist - midway through the "A"s.
When I go in and change the artist to Stephen Sondheim (who actually wrote the bloody thing), the Artist value does change, but no matter how many times I re-sort by artist, the track still sits in the middle of the "A"s. I've restarted iTunes, restarted my computer, synced with my iPod, everything I can think of, and that track (and any other track I change the artist on) still sits there smilling and thinking that it still says "Alan".
Has anyone else seen this happen and (more importantly) has anyone found something approaching an answer?
    Thanks!

Of course by posting the question I was destined to stuble on the answer. Get Info, Sorting, and update the Sorting Artist field. Please raise your hand if you think this is a mind-numbingly Microsoftian thing to put into an Apple product. Now I'm going to need to go through my entire bloody library removing the "Sorting" fields just so I can get iTunes to remember the alphabet. Why not sort by what it says in the matrix by default? *facepalm* Jobs would be ******.

  • Music not from Itunes starts to play in background

I am unable to find the source of music that starts to play. This is not anything in my Itunes library, Itunes is not on when this occurs. I tried using Activity Monitor to see the source but no clues, could this be malware, or a virus, the music starts to play after browsing on safari and playing a news clip, or video. Any thoughts, this is driving me nuts.

Thank you, I looked at the dashboard and there are pasted images and clips of pokemon characters and when I place the cursor over them, the music starts to play. I left my work computer unlocked on saturday and my seven year old son went surfing the net and found a pokemon web site and he told me he was clicking on lots of things. I now enabled the password setting on the screen saver to keep this from happening again.

  • Each player plays my music, not just itunes

    hi
i use a network storage for my music
players like vlc or vox etc. play the music immediatly
    itunes won't play !
not by clicking the mp3 in the finder, nor by adding the mp3 to my library
i re installed itunes, rebootet everything i found - nothing
    please help me
    thanks

Then it's probably a characteristic of the encoder resulting in this.  Not too much you can do about it other than transcode (preferably not) or recode.  You can see if it's a header issue.  I'm not sure if MP3 Scan & Repair works under new system versions but you could let it have a go.  There's a few other utilities too but the free ones won't work on newer machines.  MP3Trimmer has a repair tool too but I don't know if it's restricted to paid version.

  • All music not in iTunes app, but it is in iTunes folder structure

I have all of my music organized in folders under C:\Users\me\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music.  When looking in the iTunes app, only half of my music is there. Additionally, for some albums, not all songs appear. I have over 600 CDs, so this equates to about 300 entire CDs and an unknown number of songs randomly mising from CDs that show up in iTunnes.  Anything missing in iTunes (at least the percentage I've checked) is in the folder I mention above.  Is there a way to get iTunes to re-scan this folder structure and pick up the stuff its missing?

    See this post.
