Artists not displayed

Heya
This is a bit of a weird one...
I've got a 5th Gen iPod, and it works just fine, except when I click the 'Artists' in the iPod, it just displays pretty much just a couple of song tracks. Even if I click on the tracks, they play like normal songs.
I've got the latest versions, and I've also formatted my iPod and reinstalled the songs. But the Artists just don't list... I used to have an iPod Mini, and it used to list the artists in that...
Hope someone can help
  Windows XP

Sorry about the late reply...
Yes, in iTunes, I right-click and click on the 'Get Info' tab. The artists are listed there (I should know, I'm the one who's meticulously organised them... Self-proclaimed control freak/perfectionist here!) but in my iPod itself, the artist playlist does not show. Like I said, it shows some of the tracks I have, but not the artists.
Here's a weird thing I found though, in my iPod, if I click on 'Music', 'Genres' and then 'All', all the artists are listed there. So the music isn't shown by genre, it's shown by the artists.
Still hoping I can solve this, I like to have stuff all orgnaised!!
Thanks for your time
Ib

  • Artist not displayed on my "artist menu"

When I click on artists on the iPod, certain artists do not appear. When the iPod is connected to my computer and I click on artists on my iPod, they appear. Why are the songs/albums/artist on my iPod but not displayed? Make sense?

There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances (for instance I read somewhere that if you have at least two tracks with different album names the rest will appear), however the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod
Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Setting "Compilations" on your iPod main menu prevents you getting lots of single artist entries when you load an album by various artists.

  • Some artists not displaying in iTunes browser but load fine under search

I'm having an odd problem with iTunes that has been digging under my skin. Some of my Artists aren't displaying under the Artists pane in the browser. An example of this is my Eazy-E collection. If I serac for Eazy-E all of the songs display and the Eazy-E field is filled out for Artist. Yet under found artists it displays 0 and under found albums it displays 1 which is the number of albums I have for that artist.
It even does this for songs I've recently purchased from the iTunes music store. I purchased some Pearl Jam and it doesn't display in the browser, I have to do a search to load the songs. I've tried everything, including rebuilding my iTunes library. What can I do I'm desperate?

The albums are listed under Compilations.

  • Artists Not Displaying Properly on iPod

I transferred around 3,000 songs to my iPod and for some reason I can't sort by "Artist" properly. When I try to sort by "Artist" on my iPod, the name of all the songs appear but not the artist/band. The names of the songs appear when I try to sort by Album as well. Interestingly enough, the artists do appear to list properly under "Genre" even though that field is empty when I view the file info for each song in iTunes.
I guess I can get by with that, but you'd like to think everything would sort properly, especially considering I just bought the iPod.
I've restored the iPod and re-installed iTunes and have had no luck... In addition, I check and none of my songs are checked as "Compilations."
The posted solutions don't appear to be working either...

Yeah same problem here.......the songs are listed in the songs section but not under their artist

  • Ipod will not display track and artist name when i play a song

ipod will not display track and artist name when i play a song... i cant see the the volume display to adjust it eiether. Everyting shows up in the menus just not on the now playing screen.... any suggestions?

Try restoring your iPod. Just be aware that restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Music app does not display some of the artists' names correctly

It's so annoying. I have a few artists, whose names are not displayed correctly by the music app. In the following, I'm gonna take the band "Annisokay" as an example.
I, first of all, had this artist named as "annisokay". Everything was alright. Today, I decided it would look better with a capital A, so I changed the name to "Annisokay". I synced my iPhone with iTunes and checked the music app afterwards: In the music app, the name is still displayed as "annisokay". I connected the iPhone to my MacBook again and checked the "On this iPhone" tab in iTunes. There, the name is correctly displayed as "Annisokay".
I've tried deleting all the music on the iPhone and syncing it again, restarting my iPhone, deleting the music from iTunes and importing it again, changing the names to some gibberish and changing it back again, but nothing worked!!
So, to sum up, whatever I'm trying, in the end the artist's name (Artist & Album Artist) is defined as "Annisokay" and is displayed like that in iTunes itself and in the "On this iPhone" tab, but in the music app on the iPhone it's "annisokay". That's very annoying. Has anybody else ever encountered this problem? Is there someone who can help me to solve it?

When I burn a disc from a playlist in iTunes on my MacBook, the track names and artist info does not display on the disc when friends view/listen to it. This probably is an easy fix, but I need some advice.

No, this standard has been implemented for several decades.
How iTunes remembers audio CDs - http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27785
It is just conceivable you burned a CD that exactly matched one already in the Gracenote database.  Gracenote uses track count and duration to decide what CD it is you have in a computer.  If you have one that matches that it will label it.  You could conceivably even have one that matches it that is not the correct one.
This script will only work on Macs:

  • Artist is NOT displayed for some artists on my Nano

Even though it is displayed on my itunes, the artist Michael McDonald is NOT displayed on my IPOD Nano, His album IS displayed on my ipon Nano. It's irritating becasue I remember artist names better than album names.
I went to itunes and checked the iinfo on the file. It was ok. Tried resinking and even erasing and resyning. Did not work. WHAT IS UP. Haven't done a complete search to figure out how many other artists dont show up on my Nano. This is the first one.

  • Why do all my artist albums not display in the list format but do when i look at albums

When I list my songs by artist not all of the albums are listed for some people, but when I turn my phone sideways all the missing albums do show up with album covers and the songs.  What can I do to fix this?

I'm still not sure that I understand what you have done.

I thought I used ITUNES by using the add file feature under menu then using the external drive to the load to the my IPOD library.
To me, that suggests that you copied the music from the hard drive to the iPod directly, as well as importing the songs into your iTunes Library. The usual method is import the songs into your Library and then use iTunes to copy them onto the iPod. Do you see the difference?
So - if the songs are not in your iTunes Library, you need to sort that out. Once you know they are in your Library, then use iTunes to put a copy onto the iPod.

  • Music library not displayed after iOS 6.0.1 update

Okay so I updated to iOS 6.0.1 when it came out. Everything went smoothly however just a few days ago I thought I'd listen to some music. I opened up my music app and found that instead of my regular library of 3,000+ songs I had only 74. Before updating to 6.0.1 I had been listening to to Glenn Miller. Oddly enough Glenn Miller was not displayed in my artists list but the 'Now Playing' arrow would still take me to his album and I could play the whole thing. I did a search in my phone and nothing showed up for Glenn Miller. I checked my usage in settings and although under music it only said 435mb the total usage was the same as when my music took up took up about 23GB. This led me to believe that the music was still there but just not being displayed for some reason. I had a look around on the Internet and it seemed people had been having problems with the update but I couldn't find a similar case to mine.
Now you're probably thinking just restore your phone through iTunes. Buuuuuut I am currently traveling and don't have access to my laptop. I don't have iTunes Match so I've no way of re-syncing.
So my question is has anyone had a similar experience and found a way to fix it without going through iTunes? Or if you're from Apple please release a fix in 6.1!!

Sorry nobody from Apple reads these forums.
When you get back from your traveling resync your phone to itunes to get your music back.

  • Songs are not displayed in my ZEN when they have no Album T

    Hi,
i got the new Creative ZEN 4GB and a question:
I got some Songs which have no Album Tag. These Songs are not displayed in my Player. I have to go in the Folder of the Artist and then into Options and choose "View Tracks", then it is displayed, otherwise the list is empty.
    Is this normal?
Most of the Songs are Single Tracks which dont belong to any Album. Do I have to add an "Unkwown" Tag to each of them to show up?
P.S. I think this browsing by Tags really sucks at all. Why cant I sort my files by the simple filename like I do it on my PC?! They should add this option.
Thanks.Message Edited by omgodlike on 0-0-2007: AM

I have the ZenV Plus, 2 gb and it lists the songs by Artist, by Album, by Genre and then it has a complete alphabetical list of the songs by title (All tracks). Don't you have this option uner your "Music Library"

  • New iTunes update (10.6) not displaying asian characters correctly.

Just updated my iTunes to 10.6 and the new version is not displaying the asian characters in the artist or song titles. They are appearing in the album. Have restarted my computer multiple times.

Same issue going on for me. Like daskaea said, it doesn't show up in the album grid, but shows up fine everywhere else. I personally am encountering this issue for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean scripts.
Attempts to clear the name and re-enter it manually also do not work.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • ICloud status not displayed correctly after changing tags

    Hi everybody,
I have just below 25 000 songs in the iTunes library that I use for iTunes Match (my complete library is actually much larger but I created a separate library to stay below the 25 000 songs limit).
After changing some tags in iTunes (I had some artists listed twice, once in the format "<last name>, <first name>" and once "<first name> <last name>" and wanted to harmonize this) the iCloud status of most of my songs is no longer displayed correctly. If I create a smart playlist containing all "matched" songs it finds only about 1000 songs, a playlist for "uploaded" songs contains only about 250 songs, the vast majority of my songs simply have NO iCloud status whatsoever (not even "waiting").
Trying to fix this, I selected all of my songs, option clicked and chose "Add it iCloud". After waiting some time, nothing changed. The funny thing is: iTunes match reports that 24 669 songs (the correct number) are available in iCloud.
So basically everything works and I am also able to download all of my songs on my iPhone. Still, it's a little bit annoying that the iCloud status is not displayed correctly and smart playlists filtering for iCloud status don't work. Does anybody know a way to fix this?
    Thanks for any help,
    Andreas

The reason why the C3850 switch stack is showing as standalone in LMS CiscoView is because
    it's returning sysObjectID as standalone.
It should return as 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1745 --cat38xxstack
While, if you poll it for sysObjectID, the Catalyst 3850 stack switches will be returning OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1641.
This is an IOS bug "CSCul00003 - Incorrect Sys OID for Cat3850 Stack device".
Unless this bug is fixed, LMS will not be able to show it as stack device.
You can try to check if you can manually change the device identity to cat38xxstack from Inventory > add/edit device > edit identity.
Else we need to wait for the fix of this bug.
    -Thanks
    Vinod
