  • Artists not showing up right

Hello, I have many albums off of TV shows and movies. When i put these albums onto my ipod, the individual Artists do not show up in the artists section of my Ipod Touch. I have unselected the compilations section and realised that as i was putting these Albums onto my Ipod they would come under Various Artists and or Various in the Artists section.
I found out that the Various Artists and Various "titles" were coming from the Album Artist on each of these albums. So i deleted them both. E.G For my Superbad album which has multiple different artists i deleted the "Various Artists," from the album artists information of the songs and replaced it with Superbad. However when i now put these songs onto my ipod it shows the Artist as being "Superbad," instead of multiple different artists.
A long read but if anyone could help or it needs more explaining it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Hm... Sorry to say, but I can't help you here. I dont know. If you bump your post once and a while, and keep it at the top, then someone who is extreamly experianced like Barbra Hall, I think thats her name, might see it, and could give you some help...
Sorry I couldnt help out though.

  • Artists not showing up in iPod unless it's connected to computer

My video iPod, whether synced or not with my Mac, refuses to show certain artists when it's not plugged into the computer.
For instance, if I put a Bob Dylan CD into iTunes, then update my iPod (either by having it synched or else by manually dragging it over), it will show up in the iPod when I look at the iPod contents on the computer, in iTunes, but when I unhook the iPod and go to Artists, suddenly there won't be a Bob Dylan (or a Dylan, Bob) at all. I can get to the music if I go to Album, but the iPod refuses to show me the artist, even though I know the music is there.
The Get Info has all the right information in the right categories, the iPod says it has all the artists on there when it's in iTunes, but when not actually plugged into the computer and viewed through iTunes, the iPod will refuse to show me certain artists, like they don't exist. Even though the music is there.
    Why?
    Thanks!

Two things might contribute to this especially since iTunes shows things a bit different than how the iPod will show it when not connected to iTunes...
One is that some songs might be tagged as Part Of A Compilation (see the Get Info on those songs/albums) in which case they will not show up under the artist.
Second, is that an artist needs at least two different Albums identified for their songs to all list under the artist. In other words, if you import a CD with album name then add a handful of misc songs without album names associated, those handful will not show up under the artist name.
But add an album name to at least one of those handful of misc. songs and then ALL of the songs should show up under the artist.
You don't have to do it for all of them, just enough to have two different albums identified with the artist. But in general, it is a good idea to make sure your tunes have Song name, artist name, and album name associated with them as a minimum.

  • Artists not showing in artist list of browser in iTunes 7.0

As many seem to be, I am having a couple of odd issues in iTunes 7.0 for my Mac. First is that I have noticed that some of the artists that I have in my library do not show up in the artist list in the file browser. In most cases when I look for them in the standard list view they are there but not in the "artist" browser window. The second issue I just noticed with one song. With almost 3k songs, I am not sure if there are others at the moment. But, there was a song that I knew I had imported from a CD a couple of weeks ago but I could not find it anywhere. So, thinking I was crazy or maybe deleted it, I re-imported it and once I did that, then the first one re-appeared where it should have been all along.
Please let me know if any of you have any thoughts on either issue!
    Thanks,
    Dave

Is it a song on a compilation CD you burned? That might be the case.
If it's an artist album, you probably need to make sure that Artist and Album Artist have the same information.
    Song: Mercy
    Album Artist: Duffy
    Artist: Duffy
    Would be an example.
    Let me know!

  • Artists not showing in iPod after software update.

Need help...After updating the software in a 5G Video iPod, songs successfully transferred, but the artists for those songs do not show up? Example, I transferred U2's Vertigo over where Vertigo listed and played in Songs, but U2 did not show up under Artist in the iPod? Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution?

  • 'Compilation' artists not showing up in 'Artists' menu

I have a movie soundtrack by various artists. In the 'compilations' menu, the soundtrack shows up under its title, then when I select it, a list of the songs shows up.
None of the artists on this compilation show up under the 'artists' menu.
When I connect my iPod to iTunes, then select my iPod in iTunes, all the artists on this compilation are there, listed alphabetically.
Why do they not show up on my iPod when it is not connected to iTunes? Anybody? Any ideas?
    Thanks.
Windows XP   60gb 5th gen iPod

This isn't directly related but this is the only way i could get to ask a question! - I selected a few compilation albums in iTunes and checked the "part of a compilation" box. I then linked up my iPod (5G) and let iTunes update my iPod.
The problem i now have is the "Best of the 70's" kind of compilation albums are now nowhere to be found on my iPod. The "compilations" option was "On" but for some reason they've gone AWOL.
    Any ideas?

  • Artists not showing up again

this happened before, and I resolved it.
when I looked in "my questions" to see how to fix it, I tried what was said before, didn't work.
It happened again. My artists are now not showing up. Instead it just shows the song names.

hey I am having the same problem, check out my post and hopefully if we keep it in one place we can get an answer

  • Solution for some artists not showing under "Artists"

If you go to settings and turn compilations "off" all artists will show under artists listing. Assuming that title, artists, and album info is filled in.

You have to check off the box saying "part of compilation at the bottom of the get info tab on the song.

  • Music On iPod - Artist Not Showing Up On List

I have a few Gentle Giant albums, but they don't appear on the Artist list. The iPod is perfectly synced to iTunes, and the music is there (the songs appear on the Songs list), but when I go to Artists they don't appear. I have an iMac G5 if it matters.

It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.
I have a few Gentle Giant albums,
Wow, don't see their name mentioned here too many times!!

  • Artists not showing in the list

Hi, I have a iPod classic 80 Go, and when I look into my artists list, some are missing. I have the correct tags in iTune, everything seems okay when I import the songs but the artists won't show up. I can still listen to the album when I go into the Song list and the tags are showing okay when I play these songs. Anyone have an idea?

You should also check that the songs have album name info in their ID tags.
See: Some songs don't show under artist on my iPod.
Once you add a second album name for that artist even for a single song, ALL the rest of the songs should now show up under that artist, even those without album names.
Providing the spelling for the artists is exactly the same of course.

  • Artists not showing up under 'Artists'

Only happening on one album. It's a Rihanna album that we brought into itunes. Album is in the ipod, shows up under album and recently added, but for some reason the artist Rihanna won't show up when you look under artists?

  • Iphone 5 music - artists not showing up after i delete them and then add more music by them

So, on the "Artists" tab, on the iPhone 5, I deleted a few artists by swiping on the right and pressing delete.
Later, I added some music by those artists, sometimes the same music that I had deleted.
These new albums show up on the "Albums" tab, but not the "Artists" tab.  It has nothing to do with ID3 or any of that--the tags are correct, they just don't appear in the "Artists" tab because I had previously deleted the artists there.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPhone shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • Music Podcasts - Artists Not Showing Up On Ipod

So my old beater ipod finally disappeared and I got a 80g ipod classic, and there appears to be an "improvement" that eliminates my ability to integrate my music podcasts. On my older ipod if I got, for example, a podcast from KCRW of a song by M. Ward, I could change the artist on itunes in the info section to "M. Ward" and it would then show up on my ipod under "M. Ward." On my new ipod, the only way I can find that podcast (which is just a song) is by searching for M. Ward - not very convenient. Seems kind of like itunes and the ipod are becoming like MS word, over engineered and unhelpfully paternalistic. Anyone have ideas for a work around? cheers, stu
