Artists on iTunes, not on iTouch 4G

I just got my iTouch 4G yesterday and for some reason the songs that I put on my iTouch doesn't show the artists names but it shows up in iTunes. I've gone to "Get Info" on every song and made sure it had an artist but it's still not showing up on my iTouch... Any help would be much appreciated Thanks!

- Try unsyncing the music, resetting the iPOd (Nothing is lost) and resyncing
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Other users have had same problem since iOS 5 and I have not seen a real solution.

Up until recently there was no problem with connection but now when I try to connect my iTouch 2nd gen iTunes does not recognize it and a window comes up saying  "iTunes could not connect to this iPod because an unknown error occured (0xE800000A)"  I have not found any solution to this problem. I have uninstalled iTunes, reinstalled it,disabled and restarted driver, turned on and off iPod service and a number of other attempts to resolve issue. What else can I try? I got to step 3, but even after repeatedly plugging and unplugging the USB cord, iPod wont come up in device manager.
My 2nd generation iPod touch has always worked fine and synced with my computer without hassle, now all of a sudden it wont come up at all in iTunes, its not under devices or anything. iPod comes up with a charging symbol but computer doesnt see the iPod at all, anywhere. i have tried restarting iPod & computer numerous times, have re-installed iTunes twice, have restarted the ADMS, i've followed every single suggestion that ive seen and it still isnt working. Saw this post and havent tried this yet so thought id give it a go, but as i said it doesnt come up in the device manager as you say it should......am at a total loss and extremely frustrated.
Also - quick question, because i re-installed iTunes, does this mean i have lost all the apps i have downloaded and once i eventually can sync my iPod with computer, will i lose all apps from iPod as well??

  • Some of the Artist names are not showing up in iTunes or my iPod

I have a couple of songs by Yanni on iTunes and my iPod Video (5th Generation). The songs are listed and so are the albums, but the artist name is not. I tried retyping the artist's name but that didn't work.

  • When I burn a disc from a playlist in iTunes, the track names and artist info does not display on the disc when friends view/listen to it. This probably is an easy fix, but I need some advice.

When I burn a disc from a playlist in iTunes on my MacBook, the track names and artist info does not display on the disc when friends view/listen to it. This probably is an easy fix, but I need some advice.

No, this standard has been implemented for several decades.
How iTunes remembers audio CDs - http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27785
It is just conceivable you burned a CD that exactly matched one already in the Gracenote database.  Gracenote uses track count and duration to decide what CD it is you have in a computer.  If you have one that matches that it will label it.  You could conceivably even have one that matches it that is not the correct one.
This script will only work on Macs:

  • Can I force iTunes NOT to create artist/album folders when importing?

I've unchecked the "Let iTunes organize your music" box. All I want is to have iTunes rip the song, and place the song (unburdened by artist and album folders) in an external hard drive.
I can't seem to make that happen - can iTunes do it? If not, any Mac-based program you can recommend?
    Thanks.

Can I force iTunes NOT to create artist/album folders when importing?
    No.
Just RIP it and drag it from the main iTunes screen to wherever you want it.

  • ITunes do NOT recognizes iTouch

A long time since I upgraded to Windows 7 and since then my itouch 3G is not recognized by Itunes. It was working perfectly on Vista, but I've tried EVERYTHING and I can’t connect my iPod to iTunes.
The strange thing is that Windows Explorer recognizes the ipod, but iTunes doesn’t.
I've read all pages of solutions on Apple's website. None of their solutions was useful for me. I’ve already reinstalled itunes (latest version) 10 times!
When I try to update the driver of AppleMobileDevice in Device Manager of Windows, it says that "The device driver software was NOT installed successfully."
PS: I'm sure the problem is NOT the itouch or the usb cable.

Check to insure that you are installing the right build of Apple's software. The 32 bit and 64 bit builds are different and are not interchangeable.

  • Itunes not the latest version on new itouch

My son just got an "Apple174 iPod touch174 Player 5th Generation Latest Model". When he tries to move itunes music from his computer, he gets a message saying the itouch itunes isn't the latest version.  How do I update itunes on the itouch?

You update iTunes on your computer. Yo need iTunes 11.1 or later.

If you have a Mac you need OSX 10.6.8 or later and that requires a Mac with an Intel processor

  • Artist names do not show up on my idpod

When I sync my itunes to my ipod, some of the artist names do not show up in the Menu for artists. The music is on there, but the listing does not show.

There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is incorrectly marked as part of a compilation (and you have Compilations enabled on the iPod) or 2) the song has no album name associated with it.
if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation (as described in the link above), they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. If you are using iTunes 8, in the the multiple items info box the compilations setting is in the "Options" tab. Setting "Compilations" on your iPod main menu prevents you getting lots of single artist entries when you load an album by various artists.
Also if the tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances (for instance I read somewhere that if you have at least two tracks with different album names the rest will appear), however the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod

  • Can I download music from iTunes to 2 itouches

My computer with iTunes which my itouch was synced to crashed, literally died. I threw it out and had no back-up so lost everything on it (still don't know how to make backup). I bought a new computer, re-downloaded iTunes and my several days worth of music is now gone except for a few songs purchased so I am re-downloading my CDs which is a time consuming pain.
Here's my problem. My itouch only has one album on it (Chris brown's F.a.m.e.). I finally want to transfer my iTunes music to my itouch in case my computer crashes again and to listen to it there too which I hadn't done in the past. When I synched my itouch to iTunes it says I have to erase everything on my itouch first since I've never synched it to the iTunes on this computer before even though it is under my same exact account. This is do unreasonable and stupid. I have tons of pictures, videos, emails and apps I've been using my 64GB itouch exclusively for. My iTunes account is registered to this itouch and there's no way I want to delete everything on it years worth just to have access to synch to iTunes. Makes no friggin sense to me. I purchased a new itouch so I can download the music onto that. I've already spent hours and hours over a couple weeks every free moment downloading my CDs to iTunes. Before I crack open the new itouch, is it going to let me download my music onto it or only to my old itouch whose content I do not want to erase?? I'm frustrated is an extreme understatement as to how I am feeling. Any suggestions? Can I unregister my old itouch and register the new one to iTunes...WITHOUT having to delete all the music I've already downloaded? Can I download onto both my itouches since everything will be registered to me? Or do I also have to buy another computer, download a second iTunes, register the new itouch or ??

    1. My computer crashed. I smelled smoke, it no longer turned on, nobody was able to retrieve anything on it. It went in the trash with all my data on it - pictures, itunes, documents etc. I had never made a back up.
    2. I purchased a brand new Dell computer. I re-installed iTunes using my same username/password as the itunes I had on my old computer. All the days worth of music (non-purchased) were gone. I was told through a paid call by apple that I have to re-install all the non purchased items (my CDs) but they showed me how to bring over my purchased music.
    3. I spent hours and hours and hours re-installing all my CDs, several days worth of music. I then synched my itouch, and it is telling me that it detected a new computer, that it has to first erase everything on the itouch in order to synch and transfer the music onto it.
    4. I don't want to erease all the content on my itouch - pictures, videos, emails, etc. etc. Have had it for a while and not something I want to do.
    5. I purchased another 64GB itouch so I can synch that one instead.
    6. I haven't removed it from the box yet. My question is "Can I download music from iTunes to 2 itouches." If I crack open the box and synch the brand new itouch to the itunes on my new computer, registered to my old itouch, will it work? Will it synch and download the music to that device so that I don't have to erase everything on my old itouch - wich is not an option for me. I don't want to delete everything on it. I bought a new itouch so I won't have to delete everything and transfer it onto that. The itunes on my new computer is already registered to my old itouch. Had I known I'd have to delete everything to synch, I would've not used my old username/password, would have created a new one, a new account so I could sync it to my new itouch which I shelled out the money on just so I don't have to erase everything on my old itouch. So my question again - can I synch this second brand new itouch to the itunes on my compouter? I don't want to remove it out of the original packaging and find out the hard way only to then not be able to return it to the store. ANd if I can't and I don't want to delete everything on my old itouch, am I screwed and no longer able to use itunes?

  • ITunes not reading ID3 tags correctly

I have an album of mp3s, all correctly ID3 tagged (WinAMP and Windows Media Player read them fine), and when I try to add it into my iTunes library, it only add it as the filename. It does not read the artist, album, or track name from the tag.
It is strange that it is able to read some of the id3 tags but not all.
    iTunes 6.0.4   Windows XP Pro

Something else on your system is probably changing the tag outside of itunes. For instance, WMP is set to get album info from the internet.
iTunes isn't constantly scanning your library for any little tag change (a good thing, otherwise it would use 100% CPU all the time). When you go to play it or get Info, it DOES read the tag info.
Then again, I might not understand your itunes preferences settings. I have mine set for itunes not to organize my files and not add them to the itunes library.

  • How do I fix syncing issues between my iTouch and iTunes? My iTouch shows I have two copies of one song but on iTunes it shows I have one copy. I only purchased one copy too so where did the second copy come from?

Yesterday I purchased a few albums and CDs from iTunes to my iTouch. After charging my iTouch, I noticed some of the songs weren't there. So I checked my iTunes and they were still downloading so I synced them up to each other. For the 1st hour, there was only one copy of the song. Later on, when I hooked up my iTouch to see if my info corresponded to iTunes, I saw that there was additional copies of the same song on a few albums and some copies of individual songs. I didn't purchase them twice either. Now I have two copies on my iTouch but not my iTunes so I can't delete the additional copy.

Right now, I tried deleting all of the music and resyncing it from my iTunes directly to my iTouch. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

  • Artist list is not correct.

Artist list is not correct, U2 is in under V and R artists under S etc. I had this problem also in my contact list but this part is solved with 5.1
It starts direct with the A, Anouk is under B. And Bryan Adams under C and so on.
    Do anyone now this problem?

On certain iPod models you can choose whether to display a Compilations section in the Main or Music menus. If neither of these are displayed then, regardless of the *Part of a Compilation* settings, all Artists will be displayed in the Artists menu.
The iPhone/iPod Touch do not have such menu options and no longer make use of the *Part of a compilation* flag but instead group albums on the *Album Artist* tag, however the Artists menu still lists all distinct values of the artist field. This can be annoying if, like me, you'd prefer to only have the principle Album Artists displayed and means that an album where there are some guests will not play through properly if selected via the Artist menu.
A (not very good) workaround for when you select an artist and get one track from a compilation album is to switch to landscape mode, touch the cover to flip the album over and then touch any other track to start playing the whole album.

  • Artist name does not appear in artist list but album name is in album list - Ipod Classic 160gb

For an album I have imported onto my iPod from iTunes, the album name is in the Album list but the Artist name is not on the Artist list.  I have tried deleting the album from the iPod and re-adding from ITunes but the same result.  It is a single artist album, so the artist name is exactly the same for each track; all the tracks are there.  Big nuisance as I use artist name a lot to find specific albums.

    ecb31 wrote:
this did not work for me,
Possibly because your problem (you say) was the album name. The original post was about the artist name and is therefore a different problem.
    ecb31 wrote:
...I had to fill in the Album for each song, then it showed on my ipod, for ones I did ot know, I just put bloody apple.
    Huh?
Let me get this right, you had lots of songs without the album name in them, so you filled in the album name yourself - if you knew the album name. If you didn't know the album name, you then entered the same text on all the rest of those songs. So now, you must have a lot of songs all on the same album, even though they're not meant to be - and - you've put text in to a lot of your songs that will remind you forevermore, of just how unhappy you are.
    Well! &
My question to you is; where did you get the songs from, that they came without the correct information in them?
If you imported them from a CD, iTunes will go and get the information for you.
If you bought the songs from the iTunes Store, or another music retailer, the information is in the digital file that you purchased.
How therefore, does so much of your music appear to be incomplete?
Am I missing something, or have you simply failed to explain the porblem properly?
