Artists tab empty, but all music appears in Songs tab

I'm using iTunes Match on my iPhone 5. All 13000+ songs appear in the Songs tab, and songs appear in my Playlists, but the Artists tab shows "No Music" and all of my Genres show "No Music," too. Any fix for this?

This should help: Re: iTunes Match - 'No Music' on iPhone 4

  • Music from CDs that is on my iPod won't transfer to my iTunes library on a different computer I used to use but all music bought from iTunes will? How do I fix this?

In the past to get music from CDs onto my iTunes library and onto my iPod was all easy and fine, as you would know if you have done such a thing before. I used to use a different laptop for all my music stuff to the desktop I have to use now as the other one is broken. It is an authorised computer on my iTunes, so my issue has got nothing to do with that. When I got this desktop (it is quite an old one, if that makes any difference), i had to download iTunes and put all my music into my library to back it up.
However, all music that I had bought physically that is currently on my iPod (CDs) WON'T transfer into my new library on the desktop, but all music that I had bought digitally (iTunes) WILL transfer.
This has led to about 300 missing songs in my library and means I can't transfer all of my music onto a different device (as I am trying to transfer all my music onto an iPhone 3).
I have tried countless things. All of that "File > Devices > Transfer purchases" stuff WILL. NOT. WORK. I tried copying the music into a file on the desktop and then adding said file into the library, but it won't let me paste any music.
If someone were to help me in transferring the music I so dearly love then I would be eternally grateful.
    Thank you

    Hi nitramred,
To start troubleshooting this issue where you are unable to adjust the volume after receiving a call, please go ahead and first force close all of the apps currently running on the device, and then reset it by following the steps in the articles below.
iOS: Force an app to close
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

  • ITunes Match music not updating on iPhone 4 - all settings "correct", but all playlists and many songs, artists, albums, artwork missing

I'm having a maddening problem with iTunes Match on my iPhone 4. I have the following settings established on the phone:
Settings > iCloud > Account: properly logged in to the correct, main account
Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup: On
Settings > Music > iTunes Match: On
Settings > Music > Show All Music: On
Settings > Store: Logged into the same correct, main account as above
Settings > Store > Automatic Downloads > Music: On
On my laptop - the computer I use to primarily manage my iTunes music collection - when I "Update iTunes Match", all but three songs are listed as "Matched", "Uploaded". or "Purchased", and I'm correctly told that "12,277 songs are now available in iCloud".
But over the past week or so, music has been disappearing from my iPhone 4. When I go under Music > Playlists, none of my Playlists are showing. When I go under Music > Songs, it only lists 240 of the 12,277 tracks that are supposedly available in iCloud. Only 126 of around 1300 artists are listed. I have meticulously collected/scanned album artwork for literally every song in my collection, but a ton of it is missing on even the few tracks that do show up on my iPhone, and on and on and on.
I've been trying switching settings on and off, logging out and back in, waiting minutes, hours, or even days between attempts, running a restore to previous backup for the whole phone, etc. But after days of frustration and time wasted - nothing. And the real kicker is that the whole music collection IS showing up just fine on my wife's iPhone 4 - it just won't work on mine, and it's mostly my music to begin with!
So why won't my music collection show up on my iPhone 4? What do I do to fix this? How is this worth the money I paid for the Match service?

Thanks to kirbyfromtrenton, I have tracked down at least a partial fix for this problem:
1 - Turn off iTunes match in iTunes.
2 - Turn off iTunes match on the iPhone.
3 - Close iTunes and reopen.
    4 - Connect your iPhone.
5 - Go into your music folder for the iPhone and delete all the songs.
6 - Turn back on iTunes match in iTunes
7 - Turn back on iTunes match on the iPhone
All of my music is available once again, although I'm still not seeing my playlists or artwork. That could be because I'm overseas right now with a slow wi-fi connection though.

  • My itunes is empty, but all of the music is still on my computer...

my roommate updated my itunes and suddenly all of my music was erased from the program. it's still on the computer, but everytime i try to import it into the new itunes, it duplicates the music and ends up using twice the hard drive space -- which i don't have. is there a way to just move the music w/o making copies of it on my computer (where it's already located)?
also, if this was already answered, i apologize. i searched for about an hour and haven't found the same problem.

Verify that the 'iTunes Music folder location' (Preferences>Advanced>General) is set to the folder containing your music (the default location is /Users/Username/Muisc/iTunes/iTunes Music).
Then drag and drop that folder (usually 'iTunes Music') on the Library window in iTunes.
iTunes will add all music in the 'iTunes Music' folder to the library and should not create duplicates this time.
    Hope this helps.

  • Not all music appears in ipod even though memory used and in i-tunes

How come all my latest music doesn't appear in my ipod. My itunes memory for all music and my ipod memory for music is both about same amount (4.7 gb) and i have no other downloads. It doesnt matter if I resync. I don't wont to have to reset the ipod and resync from scratch again.

When you plug your ipod in a summary screen comes up in itunes for your ipod. Click on the music tab at the top of the summary screen, that is where itunes gets its information on what to sync or not to sync. What are the settings there set to?

    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

  • Installed newest iTunes.  iTunes screen has NO menus at all. All menus missing along with all music info and song titles. Any thoughts?

Just installed newest iTunes.  The iTunes screen is missing ALL menus (menu bar, side bar everything is blank) All music albums have a musical note icon but NO album titles or song titles.  Music plays but there is no way to know which album or which song until the music starts.
No prompts, no words nothing.  Any thoughts??

That's consistent with trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system.

  • My iPHOTO is empty but the photos appear in the Finder "all images" folder

Yesterday my iPhoto '08 was fine, then today, when it came out of sleep mode, there was a Finder window showing two folders: one named 445555 and the other named iPhoto Library. I clicked on the 445555 and the iPhoto opened empty, with no photos, like new. I closed it and tried to reopen from the Dock but it was still empty. Also tried to open from the iPhoto Library folder with the same result. After some despair i found the photos in the "all images" folder in the Finder main window, so i suppose they are OK and in my computer.
How can i restore my iPhoto or at least make a back up of the most recent photos that i don't still have a back up?
    Thanks for the help.

    Jeff
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point it at the iPhoto Library Folder - which is in your Pictures Folder. If iPhoto sees a valid library there it will open it.
If, however, it does not see a valid library there then your database file is corrupted:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • I have an iPod touch and none of the music shows up on my iPod but does on computer after synching. Never did this before. All music appears gone. Can u help?

My iPod touch will not show any of the music after synching to computer. The music only shows in iTunes Store. Never happened before. Can you help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hello gadawgirl21,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
    Transferring purchases
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod has your purchased content from the iTunes Store, you can transfer the content to a computer that is authorized for your Apple ID.
Note: This option only works for content you purchased from the iTunes Store (as opposed to content from other sources, such as CDs you may have imported). For content you did not purchase from the iTunes Store, synchronization occurs in one direction only. This means your content can be copied from a computer to your iOS device, but cannot be copied from your device to a computer.
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
Enter your Apple ID and password. Then, click the Authorize button.
Connect your device your computer. If it is synced with another iTunes library, you may be asked if you want to "Erase and Sync" or "Transfer Purchases."
If that alert appears, click Transfer Purchases.
Important: Clicking Erase and Sync will delete any existing content currently on your device. The content would then be replaced with the content that is on the computer.
If you were not offered the option to transfer purchases:
After connecting your device to the computer, its icon appears in iTunes. Click the icon.
From the File > Devices menu, choose "Transfer Purchases from 'Your device name.'"
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Synced music, none showing but all music there in disc mode, HELP!

I bought an 80GB on Ebay which the seller filled with 70s music for me before he mailed it.  The Ipod looks to be almost brand new, in excellent condition.  All the songs he put on it for me worked fine when I got it.  I then wanted to transfer my own CD mp3 and songs I have on my PC as well.  When I plugged in, it made me restore the Ipod in order to recognize it (I have Windows 7) and of course all the music he had put on it was lost!!!  I DO NOT USE ITUNES, DON'T EVEN HAVE IT ON MY COMPUTER!
Well, I synced my IPOD to my Winamp, where I have about 2000 songs I wanted to put on my Ipod.  It synced fine.  I did NOT unplug the Ipod too early....I waited for synce to finish, and then only unplugged after doing the eject safely thing with the harddrive on taskbar.  I looked and there was NO music in the Ipod.  However, when I plugged it back into my PC to try the sync again, I checked it in disc mode and sure enough every single song was in there.  However, nothing shows up in the Ipod when not plugged in.  So obviously the songs are there, but I can't get to them nor can I play them.
I have checked almost every single blog and help center on the web, including Winamp, and still haven't been able to find a "fix" for this that even works.  Again, please note.....I do not use Itunes, never have, never will, not even on my PC.  These songs are my purchased CDs over the decades and shouldn't affect an Ipod in any way.
This is the first Ipod 80GB Classic I have ever owned so don't know too much about it.  Can anyone help with this???  I don't know how to restore or reboot or anything, no manual came with it.  The Ebay seller obviously was able to download thousands of songs for me that I had asked him to, was able to do it in 1 day, and did it without running into this problem that I am running into.  I have had other Ipods and have always been able to transfer songs to the Ipod with no problem without using Itunes.  Any help at all would be appreciated!!!

You can use sharepod to backup your music.
    That happened to me once...

  • On my 4s, I set up my existing hotmail account to my iphone email acct. but all folders appear, along with all my email contacts.

How can I restructure my contacts to be less?  All my hotmail contacts show up and there are a lot of them I do not want to show.  Also all my folders show up but seem empty.  Are those folders there so I can store in them the new emails?  I see that the phone wants to have all your emails and phone numbers together, whcih makes sense, but maybe I need to take all the semi important ones and have them as favorites?  And can you rearrange favorites?

If you want to change iCloud accounts and keep your data go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone.  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account (or sign into your other existing iCloud account) using your other ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to your new account.

  • IPod Voice over says "All Music" not the Song Name & Artist!

Please, someone, anyone provide advice. This was my favorite feature on my
    iPod shuffle - 4GB.
When I hold down on the voiceover button on the headphones...her voice simply says "all songs" rather than the song name and artist? How do I change that back; Is the problem with my playlist?
    Thanks for any advice

You might be able to get where you want using Chaotic Software's MediaRage. It can automate and batch tag editing, including building a Title tag that combines Artist and Title and, to possibly address you other problem, blanking the Artist tag.
MediaRage is not expensive and it is very powerful, you can even define regexs for how to parse tags.
