Artwork / CD Cover import

Hi,
I have a problem with the import of artworks / CD covers into iTunes. I download a artwork picture (e.g. BMP and JPG format, not from the iTunes Store) and try to import the picture to one or more songs.
I tried the following:
Selecting 2 or more songs in iTunes 8.1.1.10, go to file /information and see the empty artwork field. After clicking on the field I could choose the right file. The artwork / cover is visible. Afterwards I go to information of the single song and do not see the cover. Also the artwork / cover is not visible in the album.
Questions:
*) What can I do to get the artwork to the song?
*) When I choose a single song I see only as information the (empty) artwork / cover and no menu with cover is visible?
Who can help me?

If the files are marked as read-only or your user account does not have write access iTunes will appear to let you make changes, but be unable to put them into action. It will not report this as an error! Try changing just the song name of one of the problem files to see if this change will take.
To gain write-access, right-click on your top-level iTunes folder, and click Properties. On the General tab clear the Read-only box if checked, then switch to the Security tab. Make sure that your own account (or Everyone) and SYSTEM have Full Control. Use the advanced tab to make sure the changes will be applied to call files & subfolders. Apply the changes.

Border around Artwork in Cover Flow, iOS 4.3

First of all: please excuse me for my english; it's not my native language.
After updating to iOS 4.3 (Mac OS X 10.6.6; iTunes 10.4), I had some problem with some artworks, so I removed and added all my music to my iPhone 4. Suddenly, all the artworks in Cover Flow has a thin (or thick, depending on the form of the picture), black border around them. In "Now playing mode", artwork also looks like they are in low resolution – even if they aren't.
Anyone familiar with this problem? Can I fix it, or will it be addressed and fixed with an upgrade?

I got the same issue. it didnt used to have this before. now all the new albums have them. how can we fix it?

Artwork in Cover flow not matching artwork in tab?

Ok, example - I’ve got 5 tunes from the same artist. All have different artwork that is displayed correctly in the artwork tab but in cover flow it just uses the same cover for all 4 tracks. Is there anything I can do about it so that cover flow displays artwork correctly?
I’ve tried removing the artwork but it just removes the artork from the tab and leaves an image in cover flow.
So removed the track from iTunes - put it back in and added the correct artwork and cover flow still puts in the same artwork!?

I’ve sorted it. I clicked on the info tab and it shows each of the tracks as being part of a compliation - I just un-ticked the box and the artowrk now displays correctly

I seem to be one of the few users of iTunes that is truly delighted with the latest release, albeit starting afresh with 7.0.1 on a new installation of OSX. That said, I find that in the cover flow view artwork downloaded from the iTunes store displays more much more quickly than the scans of covers I have added manually. At first I thought that this might be because of the higher resolution images I was using, but when scrolling I find that my scans do not show until I release the mouse whereas iTunes images display fluently at all times. A small, but irritating cosmetic point, but perhaps there is a solution...?

Not yet. I experience the same thing. Your "manual" artwork is imbedded into the song file. The new Apple artwork is retained in a separate folder in the iTunes folder. There must be a lag accessing the former, hence the artwork not immediately appearing. Remains to be seen whether Apple addresses this.
I too like iTunes 7. Seems much more organized/functional.

Artwork in Cover Flow is blurry

For some reason the album covers in the cover flow view are very blurry. I realize that it gets less sharp as you make the image larger, however when I click on the album cover in the lower left hand corner, and make it the same exact size as the artwork in the cover flow, the image from the bottom left corner is noticeably sharper. Anyone have any ideas?

Artwork fails to import

Artwork imported manually (or automatically) fails to add to the mp3 track. I have no problem with this on another platform, and the artwork shows up in Window Media ok (wav tracks) on the problematic platform. Track info adds ok (except for art) when importing.
Anybody have a clue?

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work. I resized the artwork to 400x380 and got the same result. I'm starting to think that maybe there's a minute detail in the naming and info of the files which is preventing the artwork from being applied to all tracks, and thus also to the album as a whole.
I'd still appreciate additional suggestions from people though

Artwork problem with imported CD

Hi everyone.
I just noticed that each time I import REAL CD's (i usually add .mp3 or buy it on iTunes Store) i can't change the artwork. There's no picture and it says i can't modify it.

Gah, thank you! Now the only thing is the songs are no longer continuous, but oh well. I can come to deal with that one.

Preference to save artwork as cover.png?

I have my library stored on a shared drive (I use also Amarok for Linux). I'd like to share the artwork between both players.
I know I can parse all tracks and export the artwork using AppleScript, but I'm hoping there's a preference to make iTunes save the artwork there by default. It seems a waste to embed it into the MP3, then export it back out again.
Is there a list of hidden iTunes preferences? (I scanned through the output of defaults read com.apple.iTunes but didn't see anything that matched "art" or "cover").

So, in case my post wasn't clear enough
I want iTunes to co-operate with my other media players, by having both save their artwork in the folder of the album, rather than embedding magic metadata somewhere else.

Wrong Artwork Downloaded for Imported CD

I have imported Weezer's Red Album (Deluxe edition) into my iTunes library, but the artwork for their Blue Album got downloaded for it. Twice I have cleared the downloaded artwork and re-downloaded it, but the Blue Album artwork comes right back.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

OK... I just didn't know if there was a different way to try to get the correct artwork to download. It seems like they have the wrong artwork associated w/ Weezer's new album. Regardless, I grabbed the artwork from Amazon and used that instead. Thanks for the tip!

Will Get Album Artwork delete manually imported artwork?

I just imported a ton of art manually and would hate it if Get Album Artwork deleted them. Anyone know?
Also, what happens if you manually import artwork and then iTunes later has it in inventory. Will iTunes replace existing manual imports with iTunes art?

that was my next question as I'm finding some of the iTunes art not as good as others, and I have found better than they have. Since in these circumstances, since iTunes does have art assoc with my album, I'm wonding if overwriting iTunes will cause iTunes to overwrite me

What do you with songs that dont have Album Artwork? Cover flow.

I have a live concert recording from my favorite band from 2 years ago. obviously since its a live recording, there is no album artwork for it but i use cover flow, which i love.
if i dont have album artwork for even this live recording then it defeats the purpose of having cover flow. so what do i do?

Find a suitable image and add that as an illustration in the absence of an actual album cover. Just add add the image manually to the tracks you want: Adding Album Cover Art or Images in iTunes

Artwork on Purchased/imported CD's

How do I get artwork on any CD's I've purchased and imported to my iTunes Library and synced to my ATV? Music gotten from iTunes shows artwork fine on the ATV.

There are a whole bunch of ways: There are applications that will do it for you, dashboard widgets that do the same thing, scripts/plug-ins for itunes as well. I prefer to simply use safari and amazon and drag and drop into the 'Get info' window.

in itunes library i have new folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes" and in it "Not Added" folder and insed it many ITC fies (artwork?)
how can i import this itc files back to itunes? tnx

Did you move the entire \Music\iTunes\ folder from the original Windows to a backup drive then move it back??

You cannot.
You need to select the files, right click - Get album artwork.

Help! Trying to add artwork to my imported dvds but it's not working!

I have been steadily transferring my dvds to itunes for the last few weeks, and have not had a problem adding artwork until now. I always sort them into genre and add the artwork at the same time, but for some reason when I click okay it moves the movie to the right section but no artwork appears, and when I go to add it again the artwork button is disabled- it's there, but I can't click it. I don't know how else to add artwork to it so if anyone has any ideas that would be appreciated!

I am not sure I can help with the automatic artwork download as I haven't seen that problem before. The automatic download it is an imperfect system. It does make mistakes, particularly on older movies and CD's. The other way to get artwork is manually adding a picture to the info section for each movie.
1) Use a search engine to find a desireable picture of appropriate size. Usually typing in the movie/album name is enough to give you many proper choices.
2) Copy the picture from it's source.
3) Within iTunes, right-click on the movie/album with the missing artwork and select GET INFO.
4) The farthest right tab is labeled "artwork". Select it. Then paste your found picture into the box. Click OK.
Obviously this takes a little work, it is the only way aorund improper artwork and may serve as a temporary work-around for you.
*iTunes may think is has already downloaded the artwork, and thus won't let you do it again. Check the "artwork" tab under GET INFO to see if there is a picture there. Also check to see if the "clear albumn artwork" choice is available (right-click on movie). You could clear and try again.

Can't see Artwork when in 'cover flow'

Hello
I can see my ablum artwork when playing songs in the 'Now playing' box. However I can no longer view artwork under 'cover flow' option. Instead I just get a black background and in white lettering I get this..
"iTunes is unable to browse Album Covers".
I have uninstalled & re-installed the latest itunes for windows on apple website but makes no difference. The pics show up in 'Album grid' but I don't like this view. Can anyone help?

Thanks to a post 'Dave Sawyer' left on a different topic I have now managed to solve this. under dxdiag 'Directdraw Acclerator' was disabled. I enabled it and all back to normal
