Artwork disappearing from iPod

I know, this problem is well-known, but still no valid solution.
There is nearly 30 000 songs on my iPod Classic 160. All of them have embedded artwork, visible in iTunes. But my iPod don't display no artwork for random albums. It had begun few months ago after one of those automatic updates.
I've tried many things like:
- Deleting artwork from album and inserting in again (sometimes works, sometimes not)
- Unchecking the songs, syncing, checking again, syncing (~50% success)
- Restoring iPod, loading all my songs again (random albums with artwork)
- trying "clear downloaded artwork"
No reliable solution. Still the same: all album covers in iTunes and only part of them on iPod.
Also I know about "reset artwork cache", but that is not possible in iTunes 10.
Can anybody generate new ideas what to try next? Where is this "artwork cash" on the disk? Maybe I can delete it manually. Maybe this iPod is lame, hardware is dying and it cannot work with artwork correctly.

Ah, ****. Nobody is helping. This *****.
I've found some kind of solution, maybe it will help somebody else.
The artwork cache is not working as it must. If you have all the covers embedded in the songs, you see them in iTunes, but only some on ipod, then do this:
- connect the media storage where you keep your music (if not on hdd);
- connect ipod to the computer;
- apply "uncheck selection" to all your songs, whos covers are not shown (or all songs);
- look into the ipod properties and mark "update only selected songs";
- sync ipod. All checked songs will be REMOVED from ipod;
- select all songs in itunes, do "check selection";
- manually put the highlighted cursor on 1st song in your list and press keyboard "down arrow" many-many times, until you reach the last song. With this operation you make iTunes add all the missing artwork to the cache.
- sync again, the songs will be written back to ipod.
That's all. Artwork is back.
Sorry for my English.

    My Notes just disappeared from IPOD and Mail.  It may have been after a sync.  Can anyone help me recover them?

    Looks that something has gone wrong with the reset as you still have Firefox profile folders with a date/time stamp that a reset creates, but are using a regular default profile.<br />
    Such a new default profile is likely to have been created because of a problem with the profiles.ini file (if profiles.ini is missing the Firefox will create a new default profile).
    Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
    You can look at the time stamps or check the name of the JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder.

  • Why does my artwork disappear from my ipod?   It's all visible in itunes, but on the ipod nano it disappears.

    Why does my artwork keep disappearing from my ipod?   It's all visible in itunes, but on the ipod nano it when I copy over new albums with artwork, the artwork on the albums already on the ipod lose theirs, although they retain the artwork if viewed through itunes.
    In case it matters, I don't "sync" my "library".  I have a I have a PC and copy over directories containing albums of MP3 files by dragging them onto the ipod with itunes.  I also tried pulling over only the files and not the directories.

    OK, so I decided that maybe if I "sync" my iPod instead of just copying stuff to it at will, that maybe it would fix the problem.  I did a "restore", wiping out the contents.  I set up a "playlist", and put everything that I wanted on the iPod into the "playlist".   Then I "synced" the "playlist" onto the iPod.  Every song and album now had the proper album art.  I could live with this.   Then I added another album to the "playlist", and "synced".  The new album was now on the iPod with the correct artwork.  The albums that were already on the iPod now either had their appropriate artwork, no artwork, or the artwork from the other albums that were already on the iPod, with no rhyme or reason as to which was which.  AARGH.   I wiped it out and re-added the now-explanded "playlist" and "synced" again, and every album had the right cover.   I guess the only thing to do is completely replace the contents of the iPod any time I want to add or change anything, or forget about artwork.

  • Album art disappears from ipod touch

    Album art for both complete albums and single songs often disappears from the device when uploading new music. However, the art work still appears when you look at the individual songs; i.e., when the device is connected to the computer, you open iTunes, highlight a song and click Apple-I > Artwork.
    Also, song order for albums and playlists often gets thrown out of whack. Songs ends up alphabetized.

    I just thought about if the music file recognize the song on iTunes store OR every song file that you have album art on then that should be no problem, the only problem is when some of the music/song which is not from iTunes store or they don't have any information for the song, so that will not have album art show up on any of your ipod device unless you add the album art yourself on iTunes when you import song into your iTunes from the file in your computer.

  • I just installed itunes on new computer and songs disappeared from Ipod

    I just reinstalled itunes on a computer that had a bug and was cleaned up and cleared out.  When I reinstalled itunes and it sync'd all my songs disappeared from my ipod. how do I get them back

    That is correct.
    You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything abck on the coputer, then you would sync them to your ipod.
    If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer, njot good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

  • Previously synched audiobook disappears from IPod

    I downloaded an audiobook purchased from Audible through Amazon last year. At that time I synched it to my IPod. Now it has disappeared from the IPod, but still shows up in ITunes. How do I get it to sync again? I tried syncing only what was checked and being sure that the audiobook was checked, but it still didn't sync although my checked music, podcasts, etc. did. What else should I try?
    Thanks.

    Yeah I'm running into the exact same frustration. It seems like iTunes keeps losing authorization to play my audible book (despite me giving it a user name and password) and at first, it synchs as expected. But then, several synchs later, it seems to deauthorize itself and although the book is still in the audiobooks library it removes itself from my iPod Touch. At least, until I click on the book in iTunes and, again, authorize this computer again. Frustrating, to say the least - maybe someday the book will actually be on my iPod when I plan on listening to it?

  • Photos disappear from IPod

    When I synch new photos onto my 32g the albums previously loaded disappear. Sometimes they disappear spontaneously after the auto synch when I attach the IPod to my Mac. Is there a way of preventing this?

    I have one folder of folders of photos loaded onto my ipod. When I go to the itunes page and open the Sync photos page, there is a line at the top that says "Synch photos from:" and a selection box. There is a check point to the left of the title which I assume is checked to confirm that I want to synch photos from the folder selected.
    What happens if I want to add (choose) another, different folder from my Mac? Does that "uncheck" the folder already synched and installed on my ipod?
    Thus far I have found nothing that provides an opportunity to "save" on itunes or the ipod, inspite of fearless experimenting with various inputs to try to raise the possibility.
    Yes, I have downloaded and read the User Guide and in fact have had my first PDF of it disappear from my computer without permission to parts unknown in spite of Spotlight; another first since acquiring the ipod.

  • ITunes artwork disappearing from movies

    I have my iTunes library located on a NAS (WD myCloud).  My movies have their artwork drop from the library once in a while.  While cosmetically annoying, my Apple TV won't play the movie as long as it's in this state.  The way to restore the file is to get info, which somehow loads the artwork, and then the title work again.  I have well over 200 movies so this serial process is rather frustrating, and seems to affect imported movies (handbraked from DVD) and purchased content.
    Does anyone else have this issue, and what have they done to correct it?

  • MUSIC DISAPPEARING FROM IPOD CLASSIC FOR NO REASON

    Some of my music has disappeared from my ipod classic (160GB) for no apparent reason, ANY IDEAS WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN?

    Sometimes the database files or the files themselves become corrupted.  Usually in this case, it is necessary to either resync the content via iTunes or restore the iPod to factory settings in iTunes.

  • Very Strange Problem TV Shows Disappearing from iPod

  • After upgrading to iTunes 7.0.1.8 ~300 oldest songs disappeared from iPod

    After I upgraded to 7.0.1.8 and synch'd my 60G iPod about 300 of my oldest songs disappeared from my iPod. I received a message that I had used my 5 allowable installations for the song. But I only have a 60G iPod and a Nano, and I have never allowed anyone to use my computer. So, how do I get these back on my 60G?

    Thank you for describing the problems so well. I also have been going nuts trying to restore my Itunes Library to its original (or acceptable) condition. I have a 5th gen 30G Video with about 4250 songs on it. After downloading 7 I found that every song in my Library had been dulplicated or triplicated. Then, a day latr, when I had downloaded album art, I discovered that every other song in any album I had downloaded (from Itunes or my own cd)prior to perhaps version 5 or version 6 could not be found. Luckily, I had an generation 4 Ipod with the original Library and I was able to download that to my external harddrive. I have spending pointless, arduous hours pointing Itunes to the correct file. Its faster to re-download the CD. Of course, I can't do that for any music I had bought from Itunes directly. Its weird because the name of the song is in Itunes, just the file can't be found. And why every other file? When I go into earlier (6 and before)Itunes Libraries, the music files are missing from them. Where did they go? When I try to sync my Ipod with Itunes, it takes forever because Itunes is searching for the missing files. I have tried to ask Apple support directly but I have gotten no response. Very, very frustrating! Any headway with your problems? Lisa

  • Podcasts disappear from Ipod Classic

    I recntly purchased the ipod classic 120gb, and dowloaded a number of podcasts which I have been playing. However, yesterday I was viewing one (podcast) when the ipod froze for about 15 seconds, when I was able to go back into the menu all the podcasts disappeared except the one I was viewing.
    Can anyone, someone, explain why this has happened?????
    I love my ipod!
    I need answers.

    It sounds like you use the Sync function to update your iPod (that is the best way). There is a setting which controls which Podcasts stay on your iPod, and it's this you need to change.
    Connect the iPod to your computer. Highlight the device <your iPod> (left hand side bar) and then click on the Podcasts tab. On that tab, change the various options to the one you want. It probably says "Keep all unplayed episodes" which means it will remove a Podcast from your iPod when you have listened to/watched it.
    Change these settings to (for instance) "Keep all episodes" or "keep last x episodes". (I'm currently using my laptop which does not have my iTunes installed so I may have the actual wording wrong - but I hope you get my drift.)

  • Some artwork missing from iPod

    i have a 5th generation 80gb video iPod. i have spent several hours on Google Images downloading and adding artwork for all my albums that are not available on iTunes. when i updated my iPod, however, some of this artwork does not display on my iPod. all of the artwork that i downloaded from the iTunes store shows on my iPod. all of the artwork i added manually shows in iTunes. however, some of the artwork i added manually shows on my iPod, and some does not. i can't figure out why some of it shows and some doesn't. i have been very careful to make sure i add the artwork to every single song, and not just for an album. does anyone have any suggestions for me?

    I have the same problem. I added artwork manually to all the songs I burned from my CD's. They were all working fine until one day about 40% of them won't display anymore on my iPod, but they are visible when looking at the song through iTunes to the iPod while connected.
    I have done searches on this topic and have concluded that Apple has no idea what is wrong, what causes it, or how to fix it. There are many, many, many unanswered questions about this topic.
    People say to deselect the display options via iTunes then reselect it. But why? That does not work. And I think it assumes that everyone is synching 100% of their songs between iPod and iTunes (I don't, because I don't want many of those songs on my iTunes, but want them on my iPod).
    I would really like to know the root cause and have a reliable solution from someone. The artwork is on the iPod, but it just does not display it anymore on 40% of my songs.

  • Music files disappeared from iPod Classic 120GB

    Hi everyone.
    Today I tried transferring music from my old iPod Classic (120GB) to my computer. These files were originally stored on another computer that since died, so I wanted to transfer them (backup) to my new laptop.
    However, the software crashed, and my iPod now shows "No music".
    However, the Settings page talks about 46.4GB used memory on the iPod.
    These 46.4GB match the amount of music I had in it.
    When I go to Settings > About, in the diagram that represent the space used on my iPod, there is a very small part related to my pictures (these did not get erased from the iPod), and then a very big part (about 2/5 of the total diagram) that says "Other".
    I believe this "Other" part is linked to the music that used to be on it, but I do not understand why it doesn't show as "Music" anymore, and why all of my songs seem to have disappeared.
    Did anyone encouter the same problem ? Is there any possible explanation/solution ?
    I would really appreciate any help anybody can give me.
    Virginie

    "Other" means files that have become corrupt and the iPod no longer knows what to do with them.
    The usual procedure is to move (or copy) your iTunes Library from your old computer to the new one. If the computer (or its hard drive) is not available, the procedure is to use the backup of the Library.
    I'm guessing that you don't have a backup of your Library. Although your old computer has "died", do you still have the hard drive? If so, you could put the hard drive into a hard drive caddy, use it as an external device and copy the iTunes Library from that onto your new computer. A local computer repair shop should be able to help you with that.
    Failing that, you will have to re-build your Library again.
    If you purchased music from the iTunes Store, check in your store account to see if your country allows you to download the music (that you purchased) again.
    If you purchased digital music from other stores, check with them to see if you can download the songs again. In Amazon UK, you can.
    For music that you imported into your iTunes from CDs, you will have to import them again, from the CD.
    For the future, I suggest you maintain a backup of your iTunes Library. If you now have an external hard drive in a caddy, use that. Otherwise, buy one, the larger the better.
    Also, as you are now finding, an iPod cannot be put back into a new iTunes. Nor is it a backup of your Library. Everything should be in your iTunes Library - and backed up onto an external drive. The iPod is simply a portable "copy" of your Library, only for playing the music.
    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
