Artwork error

i just added Artwork to my like 200 dave matthews band songs i have and it say somthing like "Cannot put artwork on error (-50)" what does that mean and how can i get my artwork to work?!?

go to your ipod settings and at the bottom of that first window uncheck the "Display Artwork" check box and click ok, then eject your iPod and disconnect it from your computer and quit iTunes. Then hook your iPod back up to your computer and go back to iPod options and recheck the check box for "Display Artwork" and click ok, that should fix your problem.
If this doesn't fix it, it might be a problem with an image you added to a song, or a song is a protected file, or you just might have to bite the bullet and restore your iPod software.
Good Luck.

  • Can't get album artwork - error 609

I'm using MBP and iTunes 10.3.1.
When importing from a CD, I got the track details but not the album artwork. On requesting through menu Advanced I get "Unknown error -609".
However,  the same CD on Windows+RealPlayer can get all album and track info.
Any ideas to get the album artwork on MBP+iTunes?
    Thanks

Btw, I desabled the firewall and it still can't get the artwork.
The CD is "Queen - A Night At The Opera".

  • Album Artwork Error Message

Okay, I have put some artwork on my iTunes, and it didn't show up on my iPod, so I went in and unchecked the "Display Artwork..." and applied that. Then, I went in and rechecked the box, and applied it again. When I did that, a box popped up that said "iPod couldn't sync...unknown error (-50) occurred." Anyone know what that means?

  • Random album artwork - Error -50

I only get random album artwork display on my 60 gig iPod. All the artwork displays in iTunes, but only random artwork displays on the iPod.
I tried unchecking unchecking "Display album art" in iTunes, and the ejecting the iPod, and when ejecting I get the error.
"An error occured while updating the default player for audio file types. You don't have enough access privlidges for this operation."
I am the sole user and administrator on this PC.
When I reconnect and recheck "Display album art", iTunes says "Optimizing artwork for iPod." Then is comes up with the error "The iPod "My iPod" cannot be updated. An unknown error occured (-50)"
    Very frustrating.

I am having the exact same problem. I have a 30 GB iPod Video, and today I noticed how the album artwork is but randomly displayed on my iPod, though all my albums have their respective artwork, and the artwork shows up in iTunes just fine when going to "Get Info". However, on my iPod, only some artwork showed up, mostly for the albums I had purchased through iTunes.
I thought I'd try to disable and re-enable album artwork in the iPod preferences, and the disabling did indeed work. However, the re-enabling did not - it attempts to update the iPod saying "Optimizing artwork for iPod", and it gets about half-way there until I get an error message saying, "The iPod 'Sandra's IP' cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-50)." So now I have no album artwork whatsoever.
The iPod software is version 1.1.1 and iTunes version 6.0.5. Any suggestions?

  • Get Album Artwork error code (-609)

I just recently did a re-install of my Mac Mini. iTunes is up to date with the correct version, imported all my songs from my back up hard drive, however none of the album artwork transferred with the import.
When I attempt to "Get Album Artwork" I receive an error message: Unable to process album artwork for "insert album name here" could not find, an unknown error occurred (-609).
I have selected an album I know is on the iTunes store (Aesma Daeva, Here Lies One Whose Name Was Written In Water) and tried to Get Album Artwork for just this album. I receive the same error message.
What is this error and how can I fix it? Thanks
EDIT: I just found a similar issue on another thread, trying the solution now.

Solution posted in another thread worked for most of the files. Guess I will have to manually download the remainder.

  • Album artwork errors

I've downloaded hundreds of album artworks into my i-pod - some I saved onto my hard drive, others i just dragged from Amazon, Goggle etc.
All was fine at first, however, now when I play my ipod much of the artwork shown doesn't correspond with the correct track/album. Indeed, for some tracks, the wrong artwork shows on the 'top' screen and a different piece of artwork shows when I click the centre wheel twice to use the full screen to display the artwork.
Any ideas why this happens and how I can correct it?
    Many thanks.

    Worked it out now.
    1. Dock ipod in PC.
    2. Click furthest left button in bottom right hand corner. If placing the cursor over the button it states 'Display ipod options'.
    3. Unclick 'Diaply Album artwork' within the ipod page.
    4. Remove ipod then redock.
    5. Click same button and click artwork back on.
    6. Artwork then resyncs.
It worked for me (from what i can tell so far).

  • Album Artwork Error

I recently just got a mac and I accidently clicked the "do not show me this message again" when iTunes told me it couldn't find the album artwork, and I was wondering if theres any way to get it to say that again because now I don't know whether or not it's found any artwork.

Go into Preferences then go to the advanced tab and you will see a button to reset all dialog warnings. Click the reset and you should be back in business.

  • When trying to upload my podcast, I keep getting the error message, "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later." I have verified that my artwork meets specifications.

My artwork meets the specifications though I have gotten error messages stating that 300x300, 600x600, and 1400x1400 are the proper format. I have tried all of these. I've only gotten the artwork error message a couple of times. The most common error message I receive is, as stated above, "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later." I have tried uploading the podcast from a different computer and on an different network. Have any of you had this same issue, been able to work through it?

A user meet the above problem connecting to Windows 2003 server but have no this error if connected to Windows 2000 Server.
According to the above solution, will you configure Windows 2003 server or just configure user's Macintosh platform?

Actually, win2003 server's default security options are shown as follows.

    3. MS network server: Digitally sign communications (always) - Disabled
    4. MS network server: Digitally sign communications (if client agrees) - Disabled
We could both be right on this one; it depends on your setup. By default, if you're running a domain then the Domain Controller is:
*Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always) Policy Setting: not defined*
That defaults to the Group Policy setting, which is enabled.
The local computer group policy for Windows Server 2003 is:
*Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always) Security Setting: disabled*
I'm referencing this KB article on Microsoft's website: <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887429>.
This does not take into consideration that you may have upgraded from Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003.
Regardless, you seem to have already eliminated this as a possibility as you mention below.
In my case, user can connect to win2003 server without problem in the same LAN 192.168.8.x. If connect it from remote lan 192.168.10.x (e.g. smb://192.168.8.250/artwork) error -36 will appear. Since remote lan is connected to local lan by secured VPN, all traffic or any ports are allowed to passe through VPN.
Rather than a server or client problem I would speculate your VPN connection is the problem. Do you have port TCP 445 open or blocked at your VPN concentrator? I believe this needs to be open.
    Hope this helps!

  • Error code (-609) Please Help

Ok so I have a 3rd generation iPod Nano and I was switching computers so I burnt my library to discs because my music was everywhere and restored it on the new computer. I went to sync my iPod but first noticed that all my artwork was gone. I figured ok I guess the artwork doesn't get backed up so I'll just get them again. So I did the get artwork and for every single album it comes up that an unexpected error occured (-609). I don't want to have to go and manually do all the artwork. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello Shoe_80,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I am not entirely sure why this happens, but maybe try this possible solution that many others have had success with:
    Sign out of iTunes store
    Quit iTunes
    Re-load iTunes
    Log into Store
And then re-attempt to retrieve album artwork
Or try either of the solutions provided in these links. Worth a shot.

  • Trouble with getting artwork

I have always been able to add artwork to my albums and movies by 'drag and drop'. However, lately when I try to do that, all I get is a black square where the art is supposed to be.  Tried to input in the Info Panel also, but that did not work either. Asking iTunes to get album artwork doesn't work either. How can I fix this?

here are some things to try:

  • Album Artwork Wiped Out

I have a 2nd generation iPod Nano & I use it on 3 different computers-- all are Windows (I believe Windows XP).
A few weeks back, while my iPod was connected to one of my computers, it disconnected on its own while it was plugged in. Or rather, it made the disconnecting sound & disappeared from iTunes, even though the iPod itself still showed the "Do Not Disconnect" message. I didn't know what to do in this case & not being the iPod expert (or even the computer expert!), I just unplugged it & then plugged it back in. I didn't want to do this, but I have done it before with no problems. This time, my music files remained fine, but ALL my album art had disappeared. The "display album artwork" box was checked, but I unchecked it & checked it again... most of my artwork came back, but I was able to replace the rest manually. After a few days, all my album art was back again, to my delight.
Now, just recently, on another computer, my iPod was plugged in as I was adding new music. When I went to eject it, that box came up saying my iPod was in use by another application. Again, not knowing what to do, and knowing that flat out unplugging it last time casued that artwork error, I tried resetting the iPod (while it was still plugged into the computer, with the "Do Not Disconnect" message flashing). Well, it got me back to the regular iPod menu screen again, at which point I just unplugged the iPod, but once again, ALL my album artwork had disappeared!!! Arrggh!! Only this time, I tried pugging it right back into the computer so I can immediately begin the process of re-adding all my artwork, but a message popped up that I never saw before: it said something along the lines of my computer not being able to recognize the data on my iPod. It suggested restoring to factory settings. I'd rather not do that just yet as I don't want to lose all my music (I'm going to try it on my computer tomorrow morning).
In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone knows what's causing these problems!! Is there a glitch? Am I doing something wrong? Isthere an easy way to get all my artwork back (why does unchecking & checking the display artwork box only bring back some of my artwork)? My iPod is 2 years old & beyond warranty. I think I'm just going to ask for a new iPod for Christmas, but it just seems silly that I'd have to throw the towel in on this one. Before I take it to an Apple Store & wait in that line, I thought I'd try these boards.
Sorry for the long rambly post... I wanted to cover all my bases so hopefully someone can tell me what's wrong!

iTunes doesn't do any automatic tag updating, but it does occasionally "discover" edits made by other software. I strongly suspect Windows Media Player will be the culprit here. Even if you don't actively use it, it may run in the background as a result of visiting websites with active content that uses it.
See this thread for some background and suggested options to disable in WMP.
