Artwork gone, just outlines now

I'm going through Lesson 4 of the Flash Classroom in a Book,
finished p. 125 converting the "low batt" image to a symbol, was
getting ready to start using a mask when I noticed that all the
artwork had disappeared from the stage and in its place are outline
drawings of the artwork. I flipped around trying to see what
setting I may have inadvertently selected, but can't find anything.
What's caused this?

Above the timeline, you have three icons: an eye, a lock and
en empty square. A dot in a layer under one of these column means
this layer has the property... but you can set the property for all
layers at the same time by clicking on the icon itself instead of
the dot...
So, the eye is for toggling the visibility of all layers, the
lock is to toggle whether the layers are locked or not
(selectable...) and the square, for toggling preview and outline
view... So, you may have clicked on that (or just the square of a
particular layer) by mistake. P.S. if you see a full colored square
in a layer, that means that this layer is in preview mode (of full
mode), if you see an empty square (i.e. just the border), then this
layer is in outline view.

No, I am using the crop function, and the directions say after I press done it will fill the frame, which worked a year ago. Now when using th Crop function, the black area stays black and the cropped video stays the same size. I even shared it to a Master file to see if it would process during sharing, but the black area remained black and the cropped video remained the same size. Still a bit frustrated.

Recently i installed some new fonts, a lot of Helvetica fonts, and now when i use certain applications, the fonts are just outlines. for example, when i open up the dashboard, all the text and numbers on the calendar and weather widgets are just white outlines with no fill and it's very hard to read. is there anything i can do to restore the fonts??

Itunes 12 album artwork is just random?

I upgraded like an idiot, now my album artwork is just random, it's all set i checked it twice. when I sync my iPod its just random. Way to go Apple, don't test it first, right? is there a fix for this?

Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar in ff4? It isn't included in the Customize box. Is there anyway to install the "Stop" button for loading web pages or is this option compeletly gone from Firefox now?

Just installed upgrade to Firefox 4.0. Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar. I checked the Customize dialogue box and it isn't included. Is anyone else missing it? It was a very helpful button and allowed us users to stop a web page and move on if it wasn't what we needed.

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. view my web site in browser to check all ok. When i click my link
to next page, it will open it in new window as it should do, but
displays no images (apart from my email link) just outlines.
Is it my folder location?? it is c:/mywebsites/mywebfolder
If i open each page directly to view they are all fine just
when i go from my links..

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.

If still no luck, get it serviced by Apple or visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider next to your place and let them have a look at your device.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Album artwork gone after ios5 update

So I just finished the update which went through with no problems but all my album artwork is gone on the ipad. anyway to fix this? when the next update comes out will it automatically put the artwork back on?

Safari now uses tabs to open new pages. That feature for the open windows no longer exists. Tap on the + sign at the right side of the toolbar to open a new tab and you can enter the web address in the url bar or use the seach field to find whatever you are looking for.

The icons in the bookmark tool bar are blank and the text that use to be below the icon is gone. I now have to cursor over the blank icons to see the text and the one I want. Can the icon/text customization be returned?

In the Navigation Toolbar, the icons "Back", "Forward" etc. show the small icon and the descriptive text below the Icon. My Bookmark Toolbar use to have the same icon/text format but at some point, possibly a browser update, that changed. Currently, I do have a visible Bookmark Toolbar BUT the icons do not show the website icon, as previously, and the text below each icon is gone. I an cursor over each icon and the text becomes visible next to the icon. This is a bit of a pain to find a bookmark. Can I do a customization to return to the icon/text format.
Was this changed because browser users requested this option, or was it an internal decision.? If the later why make such changes when not requested?

That wasn't a change in Firefox. It sounds like something is broken in your Firefox installation, or you are misunderstanding the different between the Bookmarks Toolbar and the other Toolbars.
In the Bookmarks Toolbar the text appears next to the website icon, not below the icon as with the other two Toolbars, and it's not switchable between text and no text as with the other Toolbars. With both the bookmark icon and the Bookmark name missing, something is broken in your installation. You need to do a little troubleshooting.
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

If your problem isn't related to an extension, your bookmarks data base file (places.sqlite) is probably corrupt.

Be aware that if you delete the "places.sqlite" and similar files, your bookmark website icons won't automatically appear (the JSON backups don't have that icon data) when you restart Firefox and the places.sqlite is rebuilt using the backup data file, but the icons should be saved the first time each bookmark is used for the first time.

IPod Classic album artwork gone in new iTunes display board as of 1 Dec 2012

Now that I installed the new iTunes software and connect my iPod Classic the album artwork display in the bottom left corner has disappeared! There are other new features on this new iTunes layout that annoy me!
Apple...please go back to your previous iTunes layout and get my album artwork back.
My iPod is fine, there is nothing wrong with my iPod, just iTunes and their ridiculous change! I uninstalled and re-installed iTunes to no avail.
And NO, I DO NOT use the apple iTunes store for anything, just use iTunes to connect to my iPod Classic, that's all, nothing further!
So don't go trying to sell me something on the iTunes store! NOT INTERESTED!
Why do you people tend to make things more difficult after I finally figured out your last iTunes layout?!
Simple guy non-computer geek here, just your average all-American Joe!
Can someone out there assist? Any way I can return to the previous version? This new version bites! Thanks much!

iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from track one to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exists in the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough. iTunes store art seems to be generally 600x600.

Sometimes the artwork cache becomes corrupt and fails to show correct artwork, even when this is properly set up in iTunes. To rebuild the artwork cache, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again.

Won't import, all album artwork gone

Hair being pulled out as we speak. For some reason when recently opening ITunes, every single tune had been copied. The copy did not play but instead said it could not locate the tune. So I went thru the entire list and deleted each of the "bad" copies. Checked and every tune left is OK. Save for the artwork disappearing in each one. That's not the big issue.
I cannot get the program to even recognize a CD has been placed in the slot. When I go to the "Import" setting, it says there is nothing in the player. Windows Media Player reads the disc right away and gets to playing, no issue. But I have searched, gone thru all the options and still nothing from ITunes.
I have gone to Preferences>Advanced. General and importing all seem to be correctly checked and still nothing.
And now here's another one that juts cropped up. When playing from the ITunes menu, only one song plays at a time and the playback stops. Have looked thru everything and checked anything that may address this to no avail.
FYI I have checked the the songs playing back and being read from the proper hard drive.

ITunes 10 Artwork gone

For some reason, most of my artwork in iTunes 10 is missing completely. It was there before I updated, and now only 1/4 of the previous artwork is still showing. I tried changing the size of the images, extending the bar out, etc. and it's just not there. But when I switch to other views (Cover Flow, list, artwork only) it is all there. It's even still in the information. But it's not coming up under the Album List.

Issue still remains. Anybody else? Anybody have a fix?

IPhoto 6-photo are gone, just dotted lines. info is still there.

I was working on macbook pro on airplane with an external HD where my iPhoto library is kept. My battery ran out so I closed the laptop and disconnected the ext. HD until I got home. After turning on the laptop at home, the computer opened up to iPhoto still open and images showing. Only I had forgotten to connect the ext. HD yet. I believe I closed the program and connected the ext. HD and reopened iPhoto. This time all the photo images were not displayed, only dotted lines where they would have been. This was true for the thumbnail and the large image. The info box still showed the correct file name and size etc. but no image. What happened and how do I fix this? I did go to the finder and iphoto library and found that I could see the images there, so they shouldn't be gone. Just need to know what to do so iphoto can see them all. Thanks

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

HT3669 Software Update: Printer prints just outline characters!

After installation of the latest printer update my printer prints everything in outline characters. Same problem for my co-workers. Any solution Apple?

I have had problems since the HP software update which happened automatically on 6 October. I did not realise what it had done at the time.
I have an iMac and HP laser jet 1320. Since last week, I found that many pdf files would not print - the printer light would flash for a while, it looked as though it would print, then it just stopped flashing and it seemed to think that it printed something when it hadn't.
I spent a few hours of trying to diagnose the problem, finding that some programmes still printed OK, or, if I asked for 2 copies of a pdf, it would print 1 copy, or if I asked for printing of pages 1 to 4 of a pdf, it would print pages 1 to 3 only. It seemed to be just that it would not print the final page of a print job from a pdf.
I reinstalled all the HP printer drivers from scratch. I repaired permissions. All to no avail.
Then I did what was suggested here: I went back with Time Machine and replaced the whole HP folder in the library/printers; did a restart.
Hey presto, everything (touch wood) is now fine.
Clearly there is a glitch somewhere in the HP update from Apple.
