Artwork imported from Inkscape looks weird!

Whenever I try to do anything in Ai with the artwork I imported from Inkscape, error messages keep popping up!  And the third time I imported a file into Ai, (with text I converted to a path), I noticed that the blurred drop-shadows looked strange.  Upon closer examination I see that some letters, (shadows of letters that is), in the word appear darker!  This was not the case when the file was in Inkscape.
Other problems cropped up with the files I imported to Ai.  I imagine it's because Inkscape and Ai work differently?
Anyway, can anyone tell me how I can fix this current problem?
Thanx in advance for any help.

+Once in idvd I had to drop the quality from best to high quality in order to get the movie to fit on the disc.+
The limitation for iDVD is the length of TIME of the movie, not the size. Do you mean that you selected 'High Quality' instead of 'Best Performance' because your movie exceeded 60 minutes?
You might try burning your DVD again, but this time chose the 'Professional Quality' option.

  • IPhoto not importing from Quick Look

iPhoto does not import from Quick Look.
    • Sometimes the image will check in Quick Look, iPhoto starts up, but nothing imports.
    • Other times, the item appears already checked when it open in Quick Look, but same result, nothing in iPhoto.
This happens with old images, new images, a just saved screen shot for example.
I have reinstalled iLife, repaired Permissions, scrapped the iPhoto Library and let iPhoto create a new one with defaults. Nothing has worked.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks

And with no configuraton changes, just plugging in the iPad [after walking around a bit] and the import worked as expected - nice that is works, bad that it is not consistant :-/

  • Vector Artwork Dragged from Illustrator Looks lo-res

    Hi everyone,
I have dragged a piece of vector artwork from Illustrator into a Photoshop file like I have done a thousand times before.  It looks and behaves just like a smart object/vector just fine in the Photoshop file, when when I save the file out as a PDF, the smart object looks exremely lo-res like  a lor-res raster file.  I have never seen this before.  Smart Objects usually lose no resolution when saved out in a PDF, even if you save the PDF as "Smallest File Size"
What have I missed? Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance!

Even Vector Smart Objects are pixel in output, so just to make sure:
Does the SO look bad in the psd-file or only in the pdf?
Because in latter case your pdf-settings would be the likely culprit.

  • Why won't album artwork import from a CD into Mac iTunes?

I used to have a Windows version of iTunes, and when I imported CDs, the album artwork was automatically added. However, now I'm using Mac iTunes on an iBook, and when I import the very same CDs, no album artwork is added on any of them. I've also noticed that when I transfer the archived songs from the Windows hard drive (via a flash drive) to the Mac iTunes, the artwork is there -- it's just not adding the artwork when I import the CDs directly into Mac iTunes. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Standard Audio CDs don't come with artwork.
Some recent CDs might, but I've never seen them.
I guess there was an iTunes plug-in or similar utility on your PC that searched for artwork and added it.
To add artwork on a Mac there are several scripts (www.dougscript.com) and programs that can find it for you.
Search on versiontracker.com for Clutter, iTunescool, Fetch Art

  • Accessing Desktop from Sidebar looks weird

i am wondering why i don't get the same LIST VIEW when i acccess the Desktop from Finder SIDEBAR as i do when i have to navigate to it. sor some reason i get a really compressed set of rows with no ability to enlarge the File Name row and i have to resize the window instead to see the File Names. i have always worked around this but i may be having a graphics card issue and i am seeing some greyed out text here as well which is causing concern.
i'm posting the image here but it is showing up in my view as saying "Terminal -sudo -80x24" and i am wondering if things are getting really weird. anyway, i tried posting this Finder image three times so i am also including an external link here:  https://www.dropbox.com/s/jev0vm65lxq12q0/----Screen%20Shot%202013-12-30%20at%20 PM.17.30.45.png
is the different Finder view upon initial opening just a Mountain Lion deal? i don't remember seeing it in Mavericks and it is sort of a tad annoying so i'd like to understand it better.
    thanks

    hi nbar,
sorry for the confusion here. i had a couple of weird things going on and i didn't understand them very well so it was hard to be clear.
the white blocks are added by me in Preview so that i could white out the names of the files. so i just made a couple of selections. however, at the top in the row name area there are these very light and almost unreadable pieces of text that i only see sometimes in Finder when i open Finder directly from Finder (or something like this). ALSO, this view always opens with completely compressed text in list view and there is NO way to slide the columns apart from the row name area. you can see this in the same area where the very light text is as there are no vertical lines like i normally get when i get to a finder view. this means that on this Finder view (again i think i get it when i open finder from the DOCK) i have to slide open the window almost all the way open to see the names since i can't simply slide the column for file name.
    does that make sense?
ALSO, when you say "don't modify that file" - i get this to mean that it is a system file and it should not be touched. can i please ask you what you would say or suggest if i said that this image shown in the forum post was a result of ATTACHING AN IMAGE FROM WITHIN THE FORUM which was the same file that i linked to in Dropbox? i mean, the reason i did this twice (attaching as an image in the forum) and then the reason i linked to it in Dropbox is because it was a totally bizarre and totally different image than the one that i was trying to attach. i mean, i have never /seen/ this image before and i can't imaging it is floating on my Desktop somewhere (which is where i navigated to in order to attach the image which is the one shown in Dropbox...)
i know /that/ doesn/t make much sense but it is what happened.
anyway, i am going to run my off-site backup today so that i have this in addition to my two that are on site. both issues seem weird to me and i had someone suggest that they though i had a graphics card issue.
    THANKS

  • I imported set of photos but the dark areas looks weird. How can I correct it?

I tried to create a photo slideshow using iMovie. Everything works great except one issue. The dark area of the photos looks weird after import. Please check this screenshot: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s245/sh/bc44cc6d-3ab1-4d4b-91b2-9e466192c2c8/9257 952cec51ec08671cb8083086cf68
Original size of the photo is 4000px in witdh. I also tried to resize it to 800px with same result.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Did you take a backup in between taking the photos and deleting them ? If you did then try restoring to that backup (you will need to restore the whole iPad, you can't just do the Photos app) and they should be put back.
    Backups and restores : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079
When you create new albums directly on your iPad and 'copy' photos into them you are effectively just creating pointers to the orginal photos, you aren't creating copies of the photos - so if you then delete the original photo you will also be deleting all pointers to and therefore be removing it from all albums that you've copied it into (you should have got a warning when deleting the photo that that would happen).

  • Look of photos change when import from D40 into iPhoto 6

I'm using iPhoto 6 and have a Nikon D40. I'm having a problem when I import my photos -- the image quality changes when they go from the camera into iPhoto. The images look more contrast-y, more saturated. I mean, the reds and oranges are so intense it's crazy. They definitely did not look like that when I viewed them in the camera LCD.
I've tried checking in preferences, but can't seem to find anything that would alter the images during transfer. Would this be a camera problem? Anyone using iPhoto 6 have the same problem as I am with their D40?
Any help would be much appreciated!

I am having the same exact problem... iPhoto 6 and Nikon D40. If I import the photos to a folder first, then import from the folder to iPhoto, I can open the iPhoto version and then open the folder version using Preview, just by clicking on the original. I then compare the two side-by-side on the computer screen. The original always looks fine in Preview, so it is clearly a problem with iPhoto over-saturating the photos. I have no solution, but only this observation.

  • Importing to Ai from INKSCAPE

I created a logo for my boss.  I was using INKSCAPE, (a vector program).  I sent an svg file to the people who were going to print it and use it for other things.  The blurred drop shadows and gradient did not carry over.  Those people are using Ai.
Now that I have Ai as well, I began experimenting.  First I emailed the file.  I sent it from INKSCAPE on one computer to INKSCAPE on another computer.  The blurred shadows and the gradient carried over fine.  But there was another problem.  There were 2 lines of text.  The top line appeared fine in the file that arrived on the second computer.  But the bottom line seemed to be a different font!  I checked the font name, and it was the same as the original, (except there was an up-side-down triangle, [yellow filled], with an exclamation mark inside).  I take that as meaning something's wrong.  But I don't know how to find out what.
Some of my problem is due to the fact that I'm visually impaired.  It's very hard for me to find things on a computer screen.  I can't skim over stuff on a screen to find what I'm looking for.  I have to use the Windows Magnifier and look at every little thing carefully, one by one.  It's like looking for your car in a large parking lot by walking around instead of flying over it with a helicopter and spotting it right away.
Then I realized that I had converted the top line of text to a path.  So it copied perfectly!  But the bottom line was still 'text.'  I'm thinking if I convert the bottom line to a path as well, it'll also copy perfectly.  But don't you think that shouldn't be necessary?  And if the font isn't installed on the second computer, why does it still say the name of the font that should've been displayed?
I just got Ai, so I'm not familiar with how it works.  So any help will be very much appreciated.

If you want to keep text exactly as it is in Inkscape, then it is a good idea to convert it to paths before transferring it to Illustrator. Each program treats text differently.
You won't be able to edit the text in Illustrator.

  • My imported photos from PSE look bad.

When I go to import and look at my photos (previously edited in PSE9 and saved as a jpg on an external hard drive) they look great. But when I import them some of the photos look weird - too bright usually or the colour has gone all funny. I've deleted them out of LR and then tried importing them but it happens again. Only on a certain few. They are jpgs.
What is happening? In finder on the mac they look normal too. under Import on LR4 they look normal. It's just once they are imported.
    Thanks.

What are the settings on the sliders in Basic in the Develop Module? If they are off Zero you have something happening.
Check that the Autotone box in Preferences isn't checked too!

  • When i import from my vidio camera into imovie the clips look tall and thin.tied different imports like full size or large but seem to make no difference everything seems to run ok including sound whats going on?   the m

when i import from my video camera into imovie the clips look tall and thin. tried different imports like full size or large have imported both sd and hd but seem to make no difference everything seems to run ok including sound. whats going on?

    Hi Brad,
when you use Streamclip to convert media, use the same name for the exported file (only with different extension). Then make a shell script calling
    touch -r origFileName.mp2 newFileName.mov
This will copy the exact time and date from origFileName.mp2 to newFileName.mov
The script may look like this (save the file, give an exec permission to it and call it in the right directory):
    #!/bin/bash
    for i in `ls *.mp2`; do
    NEWNAME=$(ls "$i" | sed -e 's/mp2/mov/')
    touch -r $i $NEWNAME
    done
You may need to adapt the extension names used (in the example above .mp2 is input file to get the date/time stamp from and .mov is the output file to stamp.
    Have fun and cheers

  • How do I get video imported from an iphone not recorded horizontally to look non-distorted?

How do I get video imported from an iphone not recorded horizontally to look non-distorted in imovie? thanks

You can't edit a video out of iTunes.
You would have to edit the video from the original film, either on your computer, or iPhone.

Wow, you are even more paranoid than me. Those are some good steps to take before upgrade. My upgrade went smooth, so I will list you my steps and you can compare.
    1. Turn off iPod completely (hold sleep, slide to power off)
    2. Download and install iTunes 8.2, reboot computer
    3. Turn on iPod and sync to new iTunes (this was my biggest fear since 8.2 is known for sync problems with touch and iphone)
    4. Buy, download and install 3.0 (total time around 40 min.)
    5. Eject from iTunes, power on/off (note: your app icons are gonna be all over the place across 4 pages so you have to do some rearranging
    6. Sync again
    7. Check wifi and reset network settings on iPod if signal is weak, or reset your router (I didn't have to do any of this but I reset my network setting on iPod anyway)
    8. Enjoy
