Artwork shifting over

whenever i add new artwork to a single song or multiple song from the same album and artist, the artwork shifts over to the left about 3 pixels. this happens every time i add it through the "get info" option or by clicking and dragging. when i make itunes get artwork for me it doesn't happen but i cannot use this method for all the albums. i tried using different size picture of 200x200 and 300x300 but with no change. i tried deleting my artwork cache folder and replacing the artwork but still no change. and the problem even transfers over into my ipod.

I've never had it happen on my PC.
One thing I would check - are these MP3s, and do they have ID3 v2.3 tags? Years ago I had problems with artwork & itunes using v2.2 tags, and I have made sure my tracks have v2.3 tags ever since.

How do I get tabs to shift over when I move them around?

I recently formatted my PC and I seem to recall that when I move a tab,the other tabs used to shift over as I slide my tab across them. Now, only an arrow and a tab preview shows up and I can't get the other tabs to shift over.

You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.

Working in illustrator the page just shifts over or up for no apparent reason

When I'm working in illustrator the page just shifts over or up for no apparent reason. It goes up, down to the left or right when
I'm in the middle of working. I've been on the phone with the geek squad and they are not helpful at all. Has this ever happened to anyone?
Any idea why and how I can make it stop. It's so annoying and driving me crazy. Please advise it's beyond annoying. Thanks!

I think this has been brought up here a couple of times and IIRC always had sth. to do with a graphic tablet. Do you have one? And of course the usual stuff: system version, Illustrator version etc.

Stalonetray in Fvwm sometimes shifts over when growing

I'm using stalonetray in Fvwm with the following stalonetrayrc:

It's supposed to go in the bottom-right corner (just left of my conky clock), and grow to the left as icons are added. normally this works fine, but occasionally when a second icon is added it will shift over a full icon unit-length. Here is a pretty ascii-art representation:
(c = clock, 1 = first icon, 2 = second icon)
with one icon:

what ends up happening instead:

Notice the new blank gap where the first icon used to be is NOT stalonetray; that becomes empty desktop space, which means stalonetray seems to have either just moved over or it grew two icons to the left and then shrank one icon on the right. When it does this, the only way I've found to fix it is to `pkill stalonetray` and restart it from a terminal. Has anyone else had this problem? To be honest, I'm not even sure whether this is a problem with stalonetray or Fvwm as neither of them produce any helpful output to stdout or stderr.

The problem is with stalonetray and how it calculates its client geometry -- it's clearly broken.

Inserting audio clips so that the following clips "shift" over

In ProTools, it's possible to insert an audio clip at a particular location in a track and the clips behind the inserted one will automatically shift over so that the clip can "fit". Is this possible in Audition? Or do I need to move all my clips to the right first to make room for the clip that I want to insert?
Also, when I use Ripple delete to close the gaps between edited clips, the clips move around and I have to move them again so that they're not out of order. What am I doing wrong here?

I'm not aware of being able to 'ripple insert', and I couldn't find a way of doing it in CS6 - not that I'd use it, because it's relatively easy to move everything anyway if you're organised, and nothing ends up quite where you want it if you work like this anyway...

That's the thing about organising things; your friend here is clip grouping. Swipe the clips you want to group, and if you use the right mouse button, you'll get grouping options (also available as keyboard shortcuts). One useful feature of this is that Ctrl-Shift G toggles, so you can selectively ungroup and regroup quickly.
What usually happens at this point is that somebody comes along and tells you how to do whatever it is that I say you can't do, but if there is a way - well, it's not blatently obvious.

Artwork shifting when exporting or saving for web?

Have been creating some simple icons in Illustrator (CS 5.5), but the artwork is shifting when I try to export. For example, I'll create a 30x30px artboard, draw the icon inside the artboard, end export as a PNG. When I do this, even though the artwork is completely within the bounds of the artboard (no drop shadows or anything like that that would extend outside the artboard), there is some slight clippling that occurs in the exported icon. It's like Illustrator is shifting the artwork to the right and/or down 1 pixel as it exports. Any ideas what might be happening here?
In the meantime, as a work-around I've just been copying the artwork from Illustrator, pasting it into a 30x30px canvas in Photoshop, pasting the artwork, adn then doing Save for Web. This works fine, but is an extra step that I'd rather not have to do.

I tried enabling "Use Preview Bounds" as you suggested, but it still showed everything within the artboard. This was as expected since I set the button stroke for inside alignment rather than centered alignment when I created it.
I've attached an image showing the icon in 3 states. The left most image is the icon as it appears in Illustrator shown within the artboard. Actually the artboard was created by clicking on the icon. When "Use Preview Bounds" was enabled, it lined up perfectly with the artboard lines. The middle image shows the icon in the Save for Web dialog preview. You can see that it already looks shifted. The last image on the right shows the exported icon where the right and bottom edges looked cropped.
As I mentioned, if I create a 30x30px canvas in PS, copy the artwork into it, and export using Save for Web for PS, it looks fine.

Color hue shift over alpha

Here's another issue we're having
This might be a FCP question, but I figured I would try it here as well.
The titles that I and my other editor have created are producing a shift in the hue of the clip they are playing over. Once the playhead hits the titling clip, the alpha channel seems to create this shift. This is happening with titles created in Motion, as well as Live Type, which is why I think this is a FCP issue, but I figured everyone in here is very knowledgable and quick to respond.
The clip is a 1920x1080 HD upres of 24p SDI capture using a Blackmagic SDI capture card.

Here's the steez.
The color corrected clips used in the FCP project are SDI captured 24p up-resed to 1920x1080 HD. The formating for the up-res is 10 bit YUV, but the sequence setting and render files for the graphics are in 8 bit RGB, so when the playhead moves over the 8 bit alpha, it converts 10 bit YUV to 8 bit RGB, hence the hue shift (it makes it look a bit cooler).
So we changed the sequence settings to 10 bit YUV and have been assured by our online post guru that's helping us that when we do our final export, FCP will figure it out. Sorry I can't be more specific than that, but this is third hand information.

Firefox opens and loads the web site, but it has a blank 3 inch border down the whole of the right hand side, Firefox is moved over to the left so that i can only see half of it. The red cross to close it down is still at the very top right hand corner!

Updated Ipod Touch 4G to IOS5, now music files do not play,artwork shifts around without playing music, or it just doesn't play at all

I updated my Ipod Touch 4G to the new IOS5, Now I can´t listen to my music properly.
I generally use the "shuffle" mode on my Ipod Touch to ply music, generally the first three to maybe ten songs that start playing work fine, after that, the following things happen:
1. Either music stops at all and I can´t play any other songs unless I touch the suffle play mode again. Eventually, I can listen to the first 3 to 10 songs but afterwards music stops once again. it´s a cycle of endless despair.
2. Or the music starts correctly, but the artwork and file info header (song name, album, artists, etc - at the top of the screen) belongs to the next song about to be played, and when I foward to the next song, it actually skips the song that was supposed to be played (the one that was out of sync with the one that I was listening to). It´s as if the Ipod tried to match the artwork displayed with the song but It completely fails in doing so. Eventually music stops completely and I have to press the suffle play mode again to listen to maybe three to ten "out-of-sync-artwork/header" songs again (Wish I could post a video, it´d be easier to explain, not a native English speaker). Hope you all were able to understand my problem.

Exactly the same problem here. In another thread some claim this problem is fixed by doing a restore with iTunes. I haven't tried that yet.

Help: AP Div Shifts All Over The Place

I created a form inside of an AP Div. I place the Div on the page on top of the background graphic without a problem. But when I preview it in IE, the div and its contents shifts over off the page. When I preview it in Firefox, it shifts in the other direction off the page. What gives?

Try this (changes in bold) - and apDiv4 will move relative to the wrapper div.

Crosstab shifts on horizontal repeating pages over textbox

I have a Text box (Drawing object) to the left of a Crosstab in a Group Header. The crosstab grows horizontally. On the 1st page its ok. On the 2nd page when the crosstab grows, it shifts the whole crosstab object over the text box to the left of it covering it up.
I tried to lock the position of the cross tab in "Format Crosstab", but it still shifts over to the left on the horizontal pages.
Any help here would be truely greatful,

Right click on group header and go to section expert and see whether the option "Relative Positions" is enabled or not. If it is enabled then uncheck the option and see the output.

Album artwork either all mixed up or not showing up at all

All of my albums have the correct artwork in itunes but after i sync it to my ipod touch, most of the albums dont have the covers and some of them have the wrong cover. how can i fix this? I dont remember any of this being a problem until i upgraded to software version 2.2 for my ipod touch and the newest itunes.

I have the same problem with the artwork for just one album on the IPOD touch. It shows the cover from another album. However, the album names are not the same and the artist is not the same. All is correct in iTunes. I have not yet figured out how to force a refresh of the artwork on a sync, but perhaps there is a way.
Either the correct artwork got over written at some point, or as you guessed, the hashing scheme for linking the artwork to the album is flawed with more than one album cover resolving to the same key.

ITunes can't find apps on iPod Touch and doesn't sync album artwork

Ugh. Here I go again.
I have an iPod Touch (4th gen), 2010 MacBook Pro, all the latest operating systems and updates.
My iPod Touch crashed a bit and so I wanted to sync it again (using the USB cable, not wirelessly).
(1) Suddenly, there was no music on the iPod Touch. I managed to get that fixed.
(2) After a couple of syncs, I was repeatedly getting the message that the iPod Touch apps "could not be synced because the apps could not be determined." A couple of plugging and unpluggings allowed iTunes to "find" the apps, but this is weird.
(3) And now, what's bugging me -- and this happened a year or so ago -- very little of the album artwork synced over to the iPod Touch. I have 600-800 albums. All of the artwork is correct on iTunes. About 10% of the artwork transferred over to the iPod Touch. (Then I synced my iPad, and all the artwork is correct on the iPad.)
If I remember correctly from last year, eventually -- after many successive syncs -- the album artwork made its way correctly over to the iPod Touch, and maybe I'll hope for that this time.
Does anyone have a more direct solution? Checking and unchecking some boxes on some syncs? (It takes a good chunk of time to sync over my music, so I don't really have to time to delete and sync repeatedly just as shots in the dark.
Any ideas? All thoughts welcome. Thank you!

Taking off all the music and then putting it back on took care of the album art, but I'm still getting all kinds of funky behavior -- iTunes can't find the apps, then it can't find the iPod altogether, and it's adding duplicate songs somewhere. It said it was going to load 3,232 songs, but I ended up with more than 3,400. Weird.

Updating or changing artwork when the library is on network storage

Hi, can someone help with this please?
Previously i was using an imac with my itunes stuff on a usb hard disk plugged directly into the mac.
If i wanted to change or add artwork i would do the usual caper of get info/artwork and drag something in,always worked like a charm.
Now i have that same drive plugged into an airport and i now have a a macbook with itunes pointed at the airport drive for its files.
Everything works great except updating the artwork.....it wont basically!
Is this because of a bug in the latest version of itunes, or something to do with the network, i have done artwork updates over the network before in other configurations that i used, its driving me nuts....Help guys/gals please?

I too am having the exact same problem. When the movie file is added to iTunes but stays on my hard drive then artwork can be added and will stick. If I try the same on a file stored on my NAS (where my library is) the artwork won't stay.
To try to trick it I added a file to my library on my hard drive, added the artwork then moved the file to my library on my NAS. When I played the video the artwork disappeared and it went back to the default still frame version.
Is this a known bug?

Can't get rid of space without the page shifting out of view

Hello. I've got a big space appearing above my title line in this page. http://www.sarahpellerdesign.com/jordan/schooner.html See how there is a lot of white space above the words "Schooner Adventuress"? So, I went to the code and saw this on line 56: <p>& n b s p;</p> (put spaces in there, otherwise it won't show up)
I tried to delete that line and it resulted in the entire page below the nav bar shifting over to the right, so that it is sort of "attached" to the right end of the nav bar. When I preview it in the Chrome browser, it looks like nothing's changed, but it remains shifted to the right in dreamweaver. Unfortunately, in that position, I can't get to the content. It's stuck off the side of the page and I can't scroll over to it.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Sarah -
Code view is a better place to delete unwanted code precisely.
In design view you can accidently remove more than you intended and disrupt your layout.
You also have some wonky partial table code at the very bottom.
