ARW Files from SONY RX 100 II...

Neither Lightroom 4 nor the organizer from Elements 9 recognize the RAW files from my new SONY RX 100 II. Bridge does, however and I can use Camera RAW from CS6..When will Lightroom be updated to cover that camera and its RAW files?

You must have  Camera Raw 8.2 RC for CS6?
Lightroom 5.2 is the version that will read those files.

  • Opening arw files from Sony SLT a33 in PSE 9

    Hi All,
I'm trying to edit photos from my newly purchased Sony SLT a33 but Camera Raw kept coming up with "wrong file type" error messages.  When I tried to open up arw files from my Sony a350 it works fine.
The only way so far for me to edit my Sony raw file from the SLT a33 is to open it up using the free Sony software, save it as jpeg/Tiff and then exporting it to PSE.  I would like to do it all using the PSE.
I've searched for updates but there seem to only be a 'patch' for Lightroom and CS.
Any light on this subject would be very helpful indeed.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Cheers,
    catraz84

Thank you very much for your help so far.
I've downloaded the patch as linked by Casey, extracted and ran it.  It showed a bar while updating it with camera Makers etc and it ran smoothly.  I then followed up with 99jon suggestiong and it is still showing up as Camera Raw 6.1.
I tried opening the newer Arw file and it's still coming up with the "wrong file type" error.  Opening older Arw file pops up in Camera Raw 6.1.
Any further suggestions regarding this issue?  :'(
    Kind regards

  • Lightroom 4.4 will not recognise ARW files from Sony RX10

I have tried reinstalling LR - still doesn't work. It says all products uptodate as well. Any ideas?
My Mac can read the files fine and displays them correctly in iPhoto

The Sony RX10 is not yet supported in Lightroom.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
It will never be supported in Lightroom 4. Adobe never retrospectively adds support to superseded software.
It'll probably be supported in the next version of Lightroom, say 5.4 due sometime in the next couple of months.

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac) won't open .arw files from my Sony RX100. How do I get and install the right version of Camera Raw?

Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac) won't open .arw files from my Sony RX100. I was told to update Camera Raw to at least 7.2. I tried to download this but got a DNG Converter instead. Where is Camera Raw? (it does not show up in a search of my hard drive. There is a folder of camera profiles but no extension or plug-in with this name). How do I find out what version I have already? How do I get the correct version?  . . . OR . . . is it the case that Bridge will never open Sony raw files directly and I will have to do a separate conversion process every time I want to use a raw file??. Can someone explain this?
    Thanks.

  • ARW files from a Sony A350...

    - Elements 6.0 on WinXP.
    - Been using a Canon and the .CR2 files were fine.
    - Tried using the .ARW files from the Sony A350. Neither Organizer nor Editor would recognize the file.
    - Downloaded Camera Raw Update 5.1 for Windows and extracted (with WinZIP) the .8bi files into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats. It made a folder= 64bit for the second file.
    - I can now open the .ARW in the Editor, but the Organizer still doesn't recognize it.
    Is this normal?
Also, I cannot save the edited file in the Editor as a .jpg????
    Thanks
    TF
EDIT: Update - Also, Organizer can no longer recognize the .CR2 files from the Canon.
EDIT: Removed the 64 bit version along with it's subfolder (as recommended by Paige Miller in the Elements forum) and all is well. - TF

Raw support for the RX100 II was not introduced until Lightroom version 5.2. So your choices are either upgrade your Lightroom, or use the free Adobe DNG converter to create DNG files which LR4 will then happily read.

  • How do I  open photo files from Sony A7 and Nikon 7000?

I am currently using CS5 Extended but can not open files from Sony A7 camera I just bought. Do I need to upgrade to CS6 where I can use camera raw 8.3 ?
With CS6 can I still open files from my Nikon 7000 in format of DNG? Please advise.
    YAYAFORMPC

The Nikon needs ACR 6.3 (which needs CS6 or CC) but I can't see the Sony on this list
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Either I missed it, or it's a new camera that is not yet supported.

  • Cant import raw files from sony rx1003 into iPhoto

Cant import raw files from sony rx1003 into iPhoto.  with rx1002 no problem! any suggestions?

Every model of a manufacture's camera have a different  RAW format and, therefore, you'll have to wait until Apple receives the necessary information from Sony so they can create a RAW Compatibility Updater that includes that model.
In the meantime you can try the Adobe RAW converter with might support that camera model to create a dmg file that iPhoto will recognize and begging shooting the highest resolution jpegs until the updater is released.

  • Does FCP7 directly imports AVCHD files from sony cam?

Does the new FCP 7.0 directly imports AVCHD files from sony cam?
Does it need any conversion? If yes, how is the conversion time, and does the conversion degrades image quality?
    Thanks in advance.
    Desmond

Which sony camera? there are a lot.
Yes, it needs to convert. AVCHD isn't a format that most editing systems deal with natively. You will be converting it to ProRes. The conversion time is dependent on too many factors to give a precise number. Based on computer used, processors, RAM, how much footage, where it will be stored...all of that. The conversion doesn't degrade the image.

LOG AND TRANSFER.  I have the full workflow here:

Make sure you are running FCP 7.0.3.  That version deals with files from the NX5 the best.  If you are on a previous version, like FCP 6....you will need to use CLIPWRAP2 from Divergentmedia.com.  As the specific AVCHD format the NX5 uses is something that FCP 6 cannot really deal with.
    Gotta love new camera formats.

  • Transfer epub files from sony reader/pc to playbook

I am having trouble transferring epub files from sony reader/pc to playbook and then finding them on the playbook after copying completed?  Please help!

I just did this the other day for my wife, took some books that she purchased on her Sony Reader and moved them to her new PB. You need to download Calibre ( free) and also download software that will remove the DRM from the books that are on the Sony. I bought it from www.ebook-converter.com , was $29.95 US. I've read that there are also free ones out there but I went with this b/c it was mentioned in several posts. Go to your reader library on line, download the book, use the DRM and Calibre and then you'll have the file to transfer to your PB. You'll also need an e-pub reader, several on the Appworld, I used Book Reader.Of course I bought and paid for the Sony books so I see nothing wrong in just getting them to a devise that I want to read them on. This same process works for library books that you check out that have DRM enbedded. I Hope this helps.

  • Photoshop CS 5.1 and raw files from Sony DSC  RX-100 -

I am trying to open a raw file from my Sony DSC RX-100 in Photoshop and get message that it isn't supported. I downloaded the update DNG Converter_8_5.dmg and it still won't let me. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi, Marek,
Unfortunately this is a forum for the CommunityHelp application and not a Photoshop forum, so there isn't a way to get an answer here.
Might I suggest that you describe your problem in a Photoshop forum such as:

    Photoshop (Win users) http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/photoshop_windows

  • Is there a Camera Raw patch for PSE9 to open ARW files from the Sony A7?

Will I be able to edit ARW files using PSE9 for my new Sony a7?

You need Camera RAW 8.3 for the A7
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Note, this is the Photoshop forum, and the Elements forum can be found at:
    Photoshop Elements
I am fairly sure you need Elements 12 to update to 8.3  (as I type this, 8.4 is the most recent version of ACR), so you are going to need to use the free DNG converter

Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.4

  • Problems sharpening high ISO-files from Sony A700 in ACR 4.2

According to the reported problems with sharpening/noise-reduction high ISO-RAWs from Canon-cameras, the same issue seams to appear on ARW-Files of the Sony alpha 700.
Many of A700-users claim, that the pictures show a sort of watercolour effect. These effect will be the more recognizable, the higher the ISO-setting at the camera was. To explain what I mean, heres a 100%-crop of an shot at ISO 1600:
[sorry, I don't know how to loadup images here]
The writing seems somehow rough; there are a lot oft artifacts at the edges. Settings were:
    Basic: Dynamic/Vibrance 0
    Detail: Amount 33%, Radius 0.6, Detail 0 (!), Masking 20, Luminance 14, Color 10.
(The edges would have been much rougher, if I had set Detail to 25 (default) ore more.)
And here is what the Sony Image Data Converter did:
[sorry, I don't know how to loadup images here]
The edges are clear, I cant see any artifacts.
    Now my questions:
Is this problem typical for the Sony A700 or does it appear to other cameras too?
How can I avoid this problem using ACR 4.2? I really dont want to use the Sony-Converter, because its slow and complex to handle.
Which are the best settings for sharpening and NR files from the A700 in ACR 4.2?
Please excuse my English Im German.
    Anna

    >[sorry, I don't know how to loadup images here]
Anna, you can't upload images directly to the Adobe forum, but must upload them to your own photo sharing site and then use a HTML link to the picture or the site.
If you don't have a photo sharing site, there are several free ones, such as
    eSnips, and
    Pixentral
If you need help with HTML, this site has a good :
    tutorial
    > Wait for Camera Raw 4.3...
Very interesting, Jeff. I'm sure you can't provide any further information at this time, but it would wonderful if ACR offered a full fledged noise reduction program such as Bibble does by incorporating the major functionality of Noise Ninja.
