As a beginner to Oracle which Forum should I follow ?

Let me post my question again. I just bought
the Learner's CD to Oracle9i. I intend to install
Oracle Personal Edition. I am new to Oracle, but
not new to Programming. I have beeen a programmer
for 22 years, knowing many languages, many platforms.
I recently learned Java, using Books, The SUN Site,
Installed the Java compiler & use it iteratively.
I also found the SUN's beginner Java Forum extremely
useful. Every question I have, the Forum replied to,
which speed up my learning.
What would be the equivalent of the SUN Java Beginner's
Forum in --- Oracle. Which Forum in Oracle should I
follow and post beginner's questions to ?
Thanks for any guidance. -- gte99

  • Which on should I download

    Hi experts,
I would like to download a oracle database on laptop to do some test. I am not sure which one I should download, oracle 11g enterprise or just client.
Thanks a lot for any help.
    Jeanne

    Hi,
Oracle client installation does not have the option to create a database, so you will need to go with one of the following:
    - Oracle Database Standard Edition One
    - Oracle Database Standard Edition
    - Oracle Database Enterprise Edition
    - Oracle Database Express Edition
The "Feature Availability by Edition" can be found at:
    Oracle Database Editions
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/license.111/b28287/editions.htm#CJACGHEB
You can download Oracle 11gR2 database from:
    Oracle Database Software Downloads
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html
Please post similar question in the appropriate forum next time.

  • Firefox 4 seems to action on some html tags that are included within a html comment tag which it should not.

Consider the following html code where I open a textarea and include a comment tag within the textarea. Within the comment tag (which Firefox 4 should ignore) I've included a close textarea tag. Firefox 4 (unlike FF3 and IE) closes the textarea.
The following code is also available at

    Mel,
Oracle Forms 10g is 9.0.4 internally. It is shipped with Oracle Application Server 10g and Oracle Developer Suite 10g (9.0.4). To develop and test Forms applications you need the Forms Developer Suite. For runtime during production you need Oracle Application Server.
Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.0 is a Java, BI and and Portal edition. Forms and Reports will be in 10.1.2.0.2, aka 10g R2, which is not out yet. Components in this stack are the "real" version 10.
You will be able to use Oracle9i database with Forms 10.1.2. To avoid conflicts, make sure the developer software gets installed in its own Oracle Home so, not to interfere with database files.

  • Which carrier should I use?

I do not know which carrier I should use when I buy the new iPhone. Previously I have bought Rogers phones, but my texts sometimes weren't sent! I need a plan both affordable and reliable, which one should I go with?

I dont think this is the best forum for your question, but you can se the carriers coverage on their website and prices. Try to compare the price and se if the carrier you prefer have coverage on the place you plan to use your phone the most.

I want to buy an ipad for someone that lives in Brazil. Which carrier should i buy so that it will work with the carriers in Brazil?

Look, any officially unlocked GSM iPhone will work in India. You purchase from Dubai, no FaceTime, and Dubai is part of the UAE. You purchase anywhere but India, and you will have NO warranty or support. Frankly, doesn't make any sense to me why you want to do this...and don't bother telling me you save hundreds of dollars...still doesn't make any sense. Do a forum search here. We get posts daily, from users in India, who didn't purchase their iPhones in India...guess what? They all have problems. You want to join that bunch? It's your money, have at it.

  • HOW TO DECIDE IN A REPORT WHICH TABLE SHOULD LOOP FIRST?

MY Report contains 3 item table and one header table or 4 header tables then how to decide that this table should loop first. And how could i judge that this table contains duplicate entries.
HOW TO DECIDE IN A REPORT WHICH TABLE SHOULD LOOP FIRST?
Moderator message: please search for available information/documentation before asking, do not post in all upper case, these forums are not a substitute for ABAP training.
Edited by: Thomas Zloch on Dec 6, 2010 12:00 PM

    Hi,
It is suggested to loop at the header table and then read the item table. Where in if you have multiple entries in the item table that matches, use the parallel cursors concept (Loop from index) as shown below
    Loop at header....
    Read table item with key......
    If sy-subrc EQ 0.
    Loop at item from sy-tabix.
    -- Perform your processing.
    endloop.
    endif.
    endloop.
Also make sure if you have duplicate entries in your internal tables, Use SORT and then DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES so that it avoids the performance issues as well
    Hope this helps you.
    Regards,
    Shiva

  • After install OAS10gr2, which ORACLE_HOME should I put in .profile?

After install OAS10gr2, which ORACLE_HOME should I put in .profile to export? Infrastructure or Mid-tier ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
which ORACLE_HOME should I put in .profile to export? The Linux .profile is for setting-up your Linux environment, and it gors into Linux directories. The OS .profile can be global (/etc/profile) or local (as specified in each users /etc/passwd) for each OS user. I have notes here:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/linux/important_files_directories.htm
My Oracle Press book "Oracle Application Server 10g Administration Handbook" has lots of details on 10AS configuration:
