As FI-CA consultants, what can we expect from SAP HANA?

Hello dear colleagues & experts,
I'm a FICA consultant and almost all of my clients have the same requirement in their wish list: real time accounting & processing in FICA. With FICA we have to run batch processes at night (jobs) in order to see the results next day for a number of important business processes (payments, refunds, write-offs, dunning steps, interests, correspondence...). In consequence Account Balance Display (FPL9) for customers it's always behind at least one day (t -1).
Iu2019ve read that in-memory database (HANA) will turn the company into a real time enterprise; does it mean that FICA will work in real time?  or can we expect that jobs will run faster if HANA is implemented but still as a batch process that runs every night?
Regards,
JC

Hi Tomas, thanks a lot for your message!  I'll try to answer your questions here:
I am untouched by FICA - can you please explain how exactly this works? I guess these jobs are running in ECC and they store result in ECC, correct?
JC: Yes, you're right. FICA is part of ECC and handles almost all advanced features for Collections & Receivables. It's pretty important for industries like Utilities or Public Sector (among others) where you have to deal with millions of clients every day and you have to keep track of your account receivables, your incoming payments and your dunning steps, client by client.
Is it about reporting or rather about processing some ECC things over the night?
JC: It is about processing ECC things over the night.
If FICA processing is executed in ECC and it is not about reporting - then I am afraid you will have to wait for HANA to be supported as base database for ECC...
JC: Do you have any idea of when is it planned to be released (HANA for ECC processing)? are there plans to release it?
Thanks again!
Juan Carlos

  • What can I expect from DVI-ADC Adaptor?

    Hi,
I'm hoping to use my old 23" Apple Cinema Display (circa 2000) with a new quad. Due to the high cost of the DVI-ADC adaptor and the fact that it uses active circuitry, I'm curious to know if I can expect any loss of quality or responsiveness.
Also, will the USB ports still work and are there any other issues I need to know about?
    Many thanks,
    Colin

The Apple dvi to ADC connector is powered. I have mine plugged into a Kensington MasterPiece along with my G5 and whatever else.
The ADC cable connector from the ADC Display connects to the Apple power module. Also on that cable is a usb connector that goes to the G5. So I had to route my keyboard to the ADC monitir because I connect a USB hub to the second USB port on the G5. The keyboard works fine as does the ADC monitor. I have the 20 inch Display.
The only issue I have which is not a biggie is in sleep mode. The ADC monitor sleeps without the glowing power light on. Once I touch the keyboard which is routed through the ADC monitor the monitor and computer awakes.

  • What can we expect from AIM Triton?

Does anyone know if PC users will get some benefit such as resizable windows with AIM Triton?
    Or maybe built-in H.264 encoding?
    George...

That's right, my link leads to a page that says exactly what you pasted above. If you are in the homepage (http://www.aim.com/), however, a way to get there is selecting AIM Windows 98/ME in the Downloads dropdown menu.
In that sense, Triton seemed to be your only option if you have WinXP or Windows 2000.

  • Memory upgrade...what can I expect?

I have just ordered 2gb of memory from Crucial to replace the 512mb i have installed. What kind of performance improvement can i expect?
I am at my wits end with my MacBook. Aside from the screen flicker, the performance is abysmal. All applications are slow and i have seen the spinning beach ball al lot more than i did with my old 800mhz iBook!
I tried the MacBooks in the Apple Store and they seemed to fly and the speed of them is what i would expect from a modern machine. The only difference besides the slight processor speed (mine is a 1.83 Core Duo 2) was they all had 2gb memory? Is this the key?
    Paul

It was unfortunate that Apple initially sold MacBooks with only 512MB RAM. Upgrading to 2GB will make a lot of difference, with less spinning beachballs.
The processor speed also affects your experience, but I think it has more effect on calculations (like exporting videos).

You are asking in the wrong place if you are wanting a reply from nokia. It's mostly other users that provide the help here and it's not an official contact point for nokia.
If you want to talk to nokia about this try contacting them using the "contact us" link, via twitter or via facebook.

  • What can I expect in the way of reception if my base station is in the house and the computer is in another building (2 exterior walls, 30-40 ft distance)??

What can I expect in the way of reception if my base station is in the house and the computer is in another building (2 exterior walls, 30-40 ft distance)??

Depends on things like the building structure and overall building makeup inside and between these walls. It will probably be fine, but there is only one way to find out for certain.

4S at my house have stronger antenna than 3G iPhone. Reset Network Settings, tap Settings App>General>Reset, near bottom>Reset Network Settings. If still problem take to Apple for Warranty Coverage.

  • Replace a MOBO-What Can I expect?

    Hello-
I have a 2.5 yr old GNB-MAX and the IDE controller seems to have gone bad; my DVD and CD drives don't spin up correctly; this happened before and I swapped MOBO and the problem was fixed, with the faulty MOBO being repaired by MSI.  Fortunately, I have a spare MOBO of the same model, which greatly helps (smartest thing I ever did was purchase a backup on EBAY for $40).
Since I don't do this often, I can't remember exactly how the system will respond with the new MOBO.  When I swap my MOBO, what can I expect?  I presume I will not need to reinstall WIN-XP, but I will have to reactivate it, right?   What other nuances will I encounter?
    Thanks.
    Scott

I think no .. unless the mobo "touch wood" had problems... maily ... all not much difference .. unless is the BIOS different ver .. etc .... should be no problem =)

  • What can I delete from what folders to A) get more space and B) speed up machine.  2009 Imac Intel based Leopard

What can I delete from what folders to A) get more space and B) speed up machine.  2009 Imac Intel based Leopard

If you start deleting things in hidden system folders, or in an /Library folder you may very well mess up something.
That is why I say limit what you delete to your User folder only and only those files you've put or created there.  Start messing with anything system or application related without know exactly what you are doing and you risk fubar'ing something.
There are in fact many places in the system areas that will appear to be redundant, but they are not so just because they have similar path or file names.
Also, how much free space do you have with just a freshly rebooted system?  If your system does not have much RAM (given the apps your normally run on it), it may be creating quite a bit of swap space.  That will be flushed out with a reboot, but if your system is RAM limited, then it will just grow back.  In such a case, more RAM would help.
Use Activity Monitor to look at your RAM and swap use over a few days of normal use - look particularly at the page outs, as that will tell you how much virtual memory is actually being used on the drive.  If page outs are high (thousands to 10's of thousands or more) your system is RAM limited, and your drive will be filling up with swap files.
