The Find my iPhone service option is given to you when you first set up the device. If you just reset it, you may have been given that option. So, in other words, the service may have been enabled even if you didn't realize it. You can then go to www.icloud.com and click on Find my iPhone, and have it play a sound. Or, you can use the Find my iPhone app on your mom's iPhone, but the service would still need to be turned on on your iPod.
Unlike Compukid said, Apple will not assist in locating a lost device without the Find my iPhone service.
I found that out 2 years ago, it's just that I thought Apple might have changed that.

When I press autorize, it comes up with a unknow appleID. When I use apple ID's that work - it comes with the message that the computer is autorized. but then the autorization message comes back.You can't change the Apple ID that the Authorize dialog comes up with by default. It's showing you that Apple ID for a reason: it means that the items you want to play were purchased using that Apple ID and therefore you need to authorize your computer with that Apple ID. Changing the Apple ID given completely defeats the entire purpose.
If you don't know the password to the given Apple ID, then you will no longer be able to play those items. -
I have a white screen on my iphone 3G since last night.. I tried a holding home and on/off buttons down but it won't switch off - help
Apparently, this is caused by a loose connection between the "guts" of the phone and the LCD screen. While it only displays white, the touch screen will still operate correctly - so if you know where to swipe, you can still power it off or unlock the screen, or touch to answer a call or etc.
With my phone, pinching the top right corner near the power button while pushing the home/power button to wake up the phone, seems to tighten the connection enough for it to work. I have not had to maintain the pinch after waking up the phone, but I do have to do it each time I unlock the screen. I have gotten by for about 6 months so far, and hoping the iphone 5's come out soon!!

I use my iPad to get the address book backed up by iCloud from my iPhone. However, I cannot see the recent new contacts from my iPad. Is there anyway to check the iCloud server to see if my address book backup from my iPhone is still there?

Basically, you put the same itunes database file on all the PCs. This fakes itunes into thinking it is always the same PC and the ipod is OK to sync with it. It will NOT keep your libraries truly synced, though. I've just resigned myself to always buying from one PC and manually transferring the content to other PCs I want it on. -

Can't activate after latest iPad upgrade. Error message advises me to go to iTunes but it won't get off the error screen.
I am the original owner of an ipad and it woke it yesterday requiring me to activate it using the original apple id used to set it up.
It will not accept my apple id and password.
It does not show up in my icloud under devices.
I have tried hard restart (home + power) and itunes recovery.
I am out of ideas and have not found anything for original owners (as opposed to someone who bought it from someone else). I did see some posts from last year where a few people had the same problem and took it back to apple and got a refurbished unit given to them since customer service and engineering couldn't fix it. I was wondering if this was related to the recent ios8 upgrade. Anybody else have ideas or same problem before I hike down to the apple store for mercy? -

There are several ways. The two easiest are to click the Junk icon to turn it off or right click the message and select Mart As-Not Junk.

I Have an iPad mini running iOS 7.1.2, I downloaded a new app and it's icon does not appear anywhere ( have ~ 180 apps so not at limit) and it won't open from the purchased apps list. It does not show up when I search for it so can't open t that way either. It doesn't require iOS 8. Can't delete and reinstall, cause not icon. This is not a normal "app won't open" question. it doesn't start the. Stop it just doesn't seem to exist. Any help is appreciated

How do I keep more than one safari page open at the same time?
New to Mac. I'm used to being able to have several applications open at the same time, and able to check emails, eBay, camera for downloading photos, etc., but when trying this on Mac, I can't seem to figure out how to swing from email to something else....oh, it opens up eBay and other pages, but not where I left it...I have to keep starting from the beginning...name, password, etc. I can't have 3, 4 or 5 safari pages open at the same time?? This is making my life cumbersome, and running back to the basement office and using my dying Dell desktop where life was a bit simpler. Sometimes I need to copy a few paragraphs on one website into another....and its taking me way too long to get this done. I know there's a way of doing this on Mac....

I was new to mac a short time ago and I had frustrations in the learning curve especially as I was so used to working with PC.
If you look at the top left of the screen you will see the words SAFARI next to the apple logo. if not then either open safari or click on the window and the mac will then show safari at the top. If you now click on FILE you can select NEW WINDOW or NEW TAB as you wish. I often use new tab and switch between them. If you go to VIEW and select CUSTOMISE TOOLBAR you can drag an icon to the top of the safari window and you won't have to keep going to the menu to add a new tab. I will sometimes select new window to keep something separate from my other work.
If you close down a window you will often lose your place, but using the tab system you will leave the window active unless you select the cross to terminate. If you have a separate window open you can select the orange blob (between the red and green at the top) and the window will slide down to the dock and stay there, active, for you to return and continue.

PS I have PARALLELLS6 running with a copy of windows 7 on my mac. This means that I can switch to microsoft if I want to. However, with office for mac installed I rarely need to now, the only time I ever open windows is for an application that has no mac version. -

If you open the Pages panel, (Window>Pages) you will see thumbnails of your master pages and your document pages. In new documents, there is usually a master called A-Master and one called None. If you drag the thumbnail of the None master onto the thumbnail of a document page, it will apply that master to that page. Presumably, you have made your page numbers on A-Master, so this will usually do the trick. If you have elements on A-Master that you need on the first page, but just not the page number, you can duplicate A-Master (which, by default will give you B-Master, but you can change the names if you like) and remove the page number on the duplicate and apply that to the document page.
It might also be worth noting that you can apply master pages in the fly-out of the Pages panel. Go to the fly-out triangle and go down to Apply Master to Pages…, then select a master to apply and the range of pages (1-8 will give you all 8, 1, 3, 5, 7 will be the odds, 1-3, 4, 6-8 if you want continuous ranges and individual pages). -

Extract the Page Size from the Document Properties
I have multiple drawings of various sizes and need to extract the page size from the document properties of each drawing.
this.info object can be used to extract the title, author, subject etc of a document but there is no property shown for extracting the page size.
Can any one please advise a way of extracting the page size from the document properties of a file?
Any assistance will be most appreciated.
Once the page size can be extracted I will be using a script to place a stamp with onto the drawing depending on the page size.

I have used the getPageBox script as follows:
