[AS IDCS3] copy frame from one document to another doc
Hi-
I have a document with a text frame labeled "code". I want to copy that frame and paste it into another document.
How do I do that?
I am using applescript.

I got the following information from Ray Robertson:
As of CS3, you can now do this (directed at the application):
duplicate text frame "code" of document 2 to page 1 of document 1
Or use document names if you want. In CS2, you had to resort to using the ID
commands for copy and paste.

you must be doing something wrong, the above tutorial is
correct and it is the
only way to copy paste frames in flash.
Make sure your layers are not locked. Locked layers cant be
copied.

FW CS5: Copy Page from one document to another without changing layers
Hi,
how can I copy a Page from one document to another without changing the layers?
Drag-and-drop isn´t possible and by Copy-Paste all elements are placed in the same layer.

Be sure to select Insert after current page, or FW will just import the content into the current page itself. -
How do I copy material from one document to the next by using keyboard commands. I am copying from Word into and external database and the external system seems to be covering my tool bar from which I would typically click editing shortcut commands.
Highlight what you want to copy, then command - C. To paste, select where you want it to go, then command - V.

Indesign CS5 crashing public.dll when copying pages from one document to another

I have several Lenovo W520 (Core i7-2720, 8GB ram, Quadro 1000M) and a couple Dell M6500 (Core i7, 4GB ram, Quadro FX 2800M) all running Windows 7 Pro x64, the latest video drivers and Adobe CS5, including Indesign 7.0.4. We have several different Indesign docs that for the purpose of interactive Table of Contents, are copying pages from one to another to end up with one master document. On the majority of the documents, copying as few as one page to another doc crashes Indesign with the windows system error below.

Copying image from one document to another
Hello,
It is probably a dumb question, but Macintosh and I are like fire and water. I made an indesign document where all the barcodes of my products are stored and another document with the layout of my catalogue. I would like now to paste the first barcode picture from the first document in the first rectangle of the second document using a script.
This is what i have so far (applescript):

Copying layers from one document to another problem?
Hey there, so I have two documents of the same size (11 inches x 8.5 inches) and I am trying to copy some layers from an original document and move it to the second one. I'm doing this by just dragging the layers from the original to the new document. The problem is, the text or images are extremely smaller on the new document and if I blow them up, look really pixelated. What am I doing wrong? The original document is saved as a Photoshop PDF and I believe was made on CS4. I am currently using Photoshop CC 2014.
Make sure the DPI/Resolution is the same for the new document as it is for the original. Files created with 11x8.5 at 72 dpi will show up smaller on 11x8.5 at 300 dpi documents for example. You can also right click on the layer and choose 'duplicate layer', then when the dialog open, select the name of the new document in the dropdown as the place to put the duplicate layer. Either way, the dpi of both files should match. Viewing the image size on the image menu can tell you the current DPI/Resolution. Hope that helps with your problem some. I'm not sure if the fact that the original is a PDF is causing an issue.

TrudieI knew it had to be something simple I was missing. I was able to do it in Quark, so InDesign should have a way. I can't believe I miss something so obvious (after you refreshed my mind where to look)

Copying layers from one document to another
Hi using Cs6, locked down all the layers I didnt want to copy across, select all, copy .. new document select paste remembers layers, paste in front, all layers beautifully copied but I cant see any of them on the artboard, only in the layers panel. There is nothing on top of the layers .. any suggestions much appreciated .. thanks
Do a view >> outline view, do you see the elements anywhere?
Zoom out, you may have pasted close to the edge of the pastboard
If you had an element selected(that was inside a mask), and then did a paste in front or back, you may have nested the items inside a mask - though I doubt this is what happened since you have more than one layer. -
Cs sdk: copying an item from one document to another
is there a way to copy any item from one ai document to the other ?
I'm not one for bumping old threads, but this problem is really giving me a headache...
I'm having the same exact problem with copying groups from one document to another. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a top-level group or not; any group that gets copied over results in the copied art not showing up in the layer list and gives errors when trying to click on it.
If my source document looks like this:
Layer 1
<path 1_1>
<path 1_2>
Layer 2
<path 2_1>
If I DuplicateArt on the GetFirstArtOfLayer(Layer 1), Layer 1 gets copied into the new document, but it doesn't show up in the layer list and I get errors trying to click on any of the art.
If I iterate over the children/siblings of Layer 1 and duplicate them all separately, <path 1_1> and <path 1_2> will show up correctly in the new layer list and are clickable, but Layer 2 will not, and clicking on <path 2_1> results in the error.
At this point, the only solution I can think of is to recursively iterate over the source tree, manually creating the destination groups, and then copying the art work into them.

Here in above function its required to set Parent Layer UIDRef and because of this all frames are getting paste in one layer.
Is there any way we can paste frame in there respective layers?
Also I need to work this code with CS4 server and desktop indesign.

Chris.I can now copy-paste text frames and linked graphics from one document to another using snippets, but embedded images still don't work.
If I embed an image from a pdf file it works but not for jpeg images. When I open the new document (for which I placed the snippet) in InDesign, there is a frame (with a dark grey background and a diagonal cross) shown, but no contents. The place() method did not throw an exception. What am I doing wrong?

Can I copy clips from one project to another? The clips are frames saved as stills from a video event. I try the copy & paste but it does not seem to work.
The video was converted into MP4 and then I could get it into iMovie events. I had right clicked and saved farmes as stills. ABout 50 of them, When I tried to copy and paste those stills into another project I couldn't. They came up blank.
I ended up going to a Genius appointment at my APPLE store this afternoon and was told that those "stills" aren't really anything. Not a .jpg or video, so the program doesn't recognize them. So instead I'm using the Project with the 50 stills and copying other .jpgs and video into it. (This is for a 1961 Class Reunion, so it's old stuff). Seems to work so far.
So bottom line seems to be I can use these stills created from a video in the project in which they were created, but no where else. Do you know a way around this? -

Thanks in advance.If you call AIArtSuite::ReorderArt() giving the layer group handle from the target document and using art from the source document, it will move art between documents. That said, there are all sorts of caveats that come along with that -- some things move over automatically (graphic styles, symbols) while others cause problems. E.g. copying art that contains a swatch can cause a crash when you shut down the source document because it may keep the style reference to the swatch in the source document -- which goes away when the document is closed. Gradients in particular are a problem I believe. Straight up colours are (I think) fine. I've had to write a lot of workarounds for various headaches caused by moving art between documents.
Bottom line: its very doable, but there are a lot of edge cases. This was clearly not an intended use of the SDK, though it is possible. -

Apple has removed the ability to import styles inPAges 5 along with almost 100 other features.
