By the way, the problem happens with the account of MS Exchange service, I don't know if this is the cause of the problem.
I think yes.  The encoding is being corrupted somewhere, probably Exchange.  There is nothing you can change on the iPad other than the OS languagel, to see if that helps.  You can also tell Apple at

Tunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • TS3276 How do I request Read Receipts in Mail?

Other mail programmes like Thunderbird allow me to request a read receipt so that I know the email has been received and read. I connot find this useful function in Apple's Mail. Am I just missing it?

    See here:
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20050512155856402
There's every likelihood that your recipients' email clients are configured to ignore receipt requests, though. There's nothing you can do on your end to guarantee that your recipients will even see the requests, much less respond to them.

  • Recently bought a used iphine 4s whiped it clean started fresh but ever sin e i got it the mail app reads that i have 98 messages i open it and it just shows white screen amd wont do anythingo

why cant i read my mail in the mail app? It shows i have 98 messages but ehen opened just shows a white screen

Try quitting the Mail app and reset your device. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

That used to work to send read receipts, but I don't know if it still does. The failures the OP posted indicate a malformed command, not that it won't still work.

  • How to Request Read Receipts in Mac OS X Mail

    Hi
Would like to be able to know when the people I send email to actual read that email I send them. Is it possible to setup a option in mail so you get a receipt from the person who reads your email.
    Thanks

Mail doesn't support read receipts. But you can do an "all or nothing" deal using Terminal:

  • Mail.app reading HTML messages - status line?

Is there a status line or other field that displays the contents of an embedded link in HTML messages?
If so, where is it, and how does one enable it?
To be precise, what I am looking for is the equivalent to the status line that Safari displays at the bottom of a browser window where the user can view the contents of a link when the cursor is hovering over a picture or text which is a hyperlink to another document or website.
Why I'm looking for this, is so that when reading eMail with hypertext links (HTML eMail) the destination of the link would be visible, so if someone sends me phishing email with a link that says "https://safeharbor.ebay.com/" and the actual html (which can be seen by using "View => Message => Raw Source") says something like https://190.121.43.66/cgi-bin/steal-this-password.exe?user=myname&email=user@exa mple.com" it is obvious that I shouldn't click on the link. Likewise, when load-pictures is off, I can hover the cursor over the graphic and see whether the graphic is just an image (http://www.site.com/picture.jpg), or is an image with a tracker attached (http://www.site.com/cgi-bin/showpic?email=[email protected]&image=picture.jpg).
I was hoping this would be in the new Mail.app for leopard since creating HTML mail was available, at least in limited form, and Phishing is NOT a new problem. Also, since Mail.app uses the safari rendering engine to display HTML in eMail, it make sense that it could also display link info.
SO, does it exist? Is there some magic key combination or hidden (well hidden) menu or preference option to set to see this simple link information? I know I can do it by viewing the raw source, but that is a royal pain in the a** to read all the gobbletygook, html, css, javascript, etc. that shows up in html pages. And maybe a good percentage of Apple users don't know how to read HTML anyway, although most do know what a URL looks like.

How does one go back and EDIT a post to fix a typo, or other grammatical or formatting error?
(My -- strike-through -- text was not supposed to be that way, and I see I'm missing the (") quote at the beginning. I likely put in a dash or two for offsetting it, but apparently that was a formatting hint to strike it out. Arrrgh!)

  • When I mouse over the mail toolbar item "Get Messages" a tooltip is displayed "Get new messages for nobody". Hm.

Have I neglected to specify some username value someplace? I don't think so...

I don't want to say "No, this was not helpful" because it is actually interesting, and my prefs.js file has a similar Username entry, plus a bunch of pathnames that are like "mailbox://nobody@Local%20Folders/...". However I believe the naive user has no way to change this "nobody" to some more reasonable value, short of editing the prefs.js file which they really should not do.
I think it's just a (cosmetic) bug, that "nobody" shows up in the tooltip. It should probably say "All Accounts" or something like that.

  • Mail read/ receipt option.....

hello , just read ur helpful post, but really looking for a mail program that can offer i read/received confirmation tool......any idea where i can find it,,,,,,,,,,,bizarre that mail on MBA does NOT offer this option that's quite common on windows .........thanks for ur help.....

bizarre that mail on MBA does NOT offer this option that's quite common on windows
"Common on Windows" meaning "included in Microsoft's e-mail clients?" Okay. Commonly used by Windows users? No, I don't think so.
    It's important to note that:
    1) Most e-mail clients either don't support sending read receipts or don't send them by default.
    2) Many (most?) people using clients that will send read receipts don't turn them on for some very good reasons (security, privacy, etc).
For these reasons, it's important to understand that not receiving a read receipt tells you absolutely nothing about whether the message was read or not. In addition, receiving a read receipt is not a guarantee that the message was actually read and understood... people often glance at an e-mail and then put it aside, meaning to act on it later. Thus, is the information a read receipt is able to give you actually worth having? In what way will it make your life easier or get your work done faster? For the most part, it won't affect your workflow at all, so why bother with it?
As my wife the doctor would say, if the results of a test won't change the treatment, what's the point of putting the patient through the discomfort involved?

How can I activate "read receipt" as with Outlook?

I misread your post so ignore all below the next sentance. Mail does not include read receipt functionality, for good reason.
--- Ignore what follows. It does not address what the poster asked ; ---
In my Outlook 2007 the settings for read receipts are here: In Outlook > Tools > Options > Email Options > Tracking Options
But read receipts, either requesting or responding to are never a good idea. It is totally up to the recipient if they provide a read receipt. Most email clients, your Outlook included, allow you to set the client to never respond to a read receipt. This is for security and privacy reasons. As to requesting a receipt. It is of little value for you to request a receipt given that most email users have set their clients to never respond. So even if you request a receipt you still won't know in most cases if the recipient read the email or just ignored your request.
From a personal perspective, it is no one's business other than mine if or when I read my email. So don't send me a read receipt request because it will be ignored.

  • How to set the flag of the mail when I read it for POP3

    HI,
    All
I know that POP3 does not support the flags. As per my knowledge the only flag POP3 supports is the DELETED. if i am not wrong.
Now what i have to do is when i fetch the mails programmatically and once i read that I want to mark that mail as read in the yahoo also. means when i reterieve the mails through my client from the yahoo mail and next time when I Open the yahoo account the mail that i have retrieve must be seen as read rather than unread.
Yahoo uses the POP3 Server for the incoming mails the same thing also happens with outlook you can find that outlook also uses POP3 as the incoming mail server and when we reterieve the mails from the yahoo using the outlook by some way Outlook marks the mails on the yahoo server as read the same thing I have to do for my client Program using the POP3 server.
If Outlook does it dispite of the POP3 server there must be some way to do the same thing for the POP3 server using the Java Mail Api.I dont know how to do that thing and mark the mails as read once I fetch them.
    Any Help is appriciated,
    Rahul.

I have tried to access the content of the message using the my program to fetch the mail but still Yahoo does not mark it as the read in its web interface.
so I want to know how to do that. and also want to know that when you are doing same thing for the outlook then it mark it as a read on the Yahoo web mail interface so I want to know how do they do it means how Outlook mark it as a read mail on the yahoo server despite of the POP3 server.
If anybody knows how outlook does that than we can do same using the Java mail Api.
    Regards,
    Rahul

  • Mail says it can't contact the mail server of my ISP. If I do a restart I'm told I have to close mail myself. When I start mail I get a message that it can't contact my ISP's server. What should I do?

I clicked on my mail icon and got the installation wizard screen. I went through with the installation, despite being worned that the certificate for a strange server "plesk" had expired. I got my mailboxes back and the ability to read my messages, but now if I try a restart I get a message that Mail can't connect my ISP' mail server and that I have to close Mail manually. I find I can "ping" the server with the utility. I have had a screen warning that my privacy might be invaded. What should I do?
