As prompted by Firefox, I updated my Adobe Flash plugin. Now I have no sound for any Internet site. Any ideas?

I updated the Adobe Flash plugin this morning. I have tried turning the computer off and powering back up with no difference. My volume controls are not muted and volume is not affected in non-Internet applications.

Your above posted list of installed plugins doesn't show the Flash plugin for Firefox.<br />

"If you've forgotten the Apple ID password how did you log in to make the last post?"
Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.
As far as the link you provided, I already looked to that for help earlier. It states:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, click the lock to unlock it, then provide an administrator name and password. Select a user, then click Reset Password.
I did these steps, but I don't remember my admin password. The question is: How do I reset my admin password so I can reset my log in password.
Is my admin password the same password I use to log onto this website to post questions? If so, like I said previously, I already reset that password and my computer isnt recognizing it.

  • I keep getting "Attention! Your current version of Adobe Flash player is outdated! Your computer is vulnerable to malware now. Update your Adobe Flash player now" but I already have an updated version of adobe

It pops up randomly and won't let me click out of it. I'm certain it's malware or something like that, but I can't seem to stop it from happening. Below is a page that I'm directed to each time. I think all this started from me clicking on someone's tumblr page.
Here's another image from a different tumblr page. I'm afraid to download it because I don't know what it will do.

    You should ignore it.
You should updeate only either from System > Flash Player > Check Now
    or direct from Adobe site.
         Install Adobe Flash Player.

  • On 12/23/11 I update the adobe flash player and have had problems since- unexpected closing and freezing. Remove the adobe flash player and those problems resolved. How do I go back to the earlier version of adobe?

I was prompted by Firefox to update my adobe flash player on 12/23/11, which I did. Ever since then the web site has frozen and/or crashed. I run a internet business and can't have this continue. I uninstalled the flash player and the problems have stopped. I would like to reinstall the earlier version of adobe, since that didn't seem to impact the web site.
This is the flash player I installed on the 23rd - Flash Player 10.3 for Mac OS X 10.4-10.5 (Intel)

  • I keep being asked to download a new version of adobe flash player which i have done so several times but i still can't see videos i.e. face book because it still asks me to download the latest version any ideas ?

when i click on a video say on Facebook i am asked to download the latest version of adobe flash player which i have but it still keeps asking me any ideas ?

You are downloading the Flash installer, which I think itself downloads another installer, which may again download something else that has to run. Adobe's installer is one of the worst pieces of software on the PLANET.
That said, the problem is that you are not actually running the installer and letting it update Flash. Doing so will force you to quit Safari in the process.
Go look for whatever Adobe downloaded to your Downloads folder and run it.

  • Firefox 34.0.5 says Adobe Flash plugin is blocked, but update check reports my Flash plugin (ver. 16.0.0.235) is current. How to fix???

About 1 month ago, I updated Flash and Firefox to most current versions. Firefox 34.0.5, running on WinXP, SP3, shows Adobe Flash plugin as ver. 16.0.0.235, but this is now being blocked again. No other versions of Flash are evident. When I choose option on Flash screen to check plugins are up to date, Firefox reports Flash plugin is up to date.
This program behaviour is wrong and should be fixed. Checking at Adobe, current Flash is 16.0.0.305.
Who or what is broken here? Is Firefox broken, and not reporting correctly that more current Flash plugin is available?
I do not appear to have previous versions of Flash installed on system. This combo of software was working correctly for a while, and then became broken, without a proper path to allow users to resolve it. If Firefox is rigged to "Block" a plugin, then it *MUST* be configured to easily and **CORRECTLY** allow that plugin to be updated. Using most current software, my clicking on the "Check for updates" feature reports that Adobe Flash is most current version. Arrrrgh!!
I am now back to "diagnose and fix broken Firefox+Flash" exercise, which I just went thru.
Best solution here would be to allow user to easily override the "blocking" mechanism. This would assist users who only use Flash video access on trusted sites.
If there is an obvious solution to this current Flash "BLocking" goofery, please inform. Otherwise, if and when I resolve this, I will post a reply to my own question here, indicating what I did to fix this, as it appears to be affecting other Firefox+Flash users, without a clear solution being posted.

Adobe issued 3 new Flash 16 versions in January alone, then another new one - .305 - in February, ''along with one in early December. Five new versions in 2 months time''. So with updating Flash "about 1 month ago", you are probably 2 or 3 versions behind the latest Flash 16 version.
Note that Adobe has its own internal updater, which by default is set to check for an update ''(only)'' once a month. Adobe does their own updates for their software, Firefox just tells you when your version is on the blocklist due to known security issues with the version you have installed. It is up to you to do a manual update between the monthly update check that Flash does for your installation.
The "solution" is for Adobe to fix their stuff. Like maybe an updater that checks for updates more frequently, and not hide their updater user preferences where users don't know where they are and be able to set it for more a frequent update check cycle. ''[Firefox "checks" every time Firefox is launched, as does Chrome]''. Or fix the code in Flash that leads to it being so exploitable, and not have to do 5 separate security fixes in as little as a 2 month time span. ''Flash went almost 2 years prior to Dec 2014 without Mozilla needing to blocklist it, and when Mozilla did first blocklist it in Dec it was / is a soft-block where the user can still use it by using Allow per Flash presentation.''
My advice is to grab the Extended Support Release - Flash Player 13.0.0.269 from here - https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html - over 3/4 down that page. IMO the best version for WinXP users, as the later versions have features for Vista and later versions of Windows - won't work on WinXP or may cause problems on WinXP.

  • Firefox updated to its newest version 12.0. Now my Adobe Flash plugin freezes and hangs every website when it is enabled even though it is the newest version.

Today Firefox updated to its newest version 12.0. Immediately after update, I couldn't load most websites. The web browser would just freeze. I have determined that the culprit is the Adobe Flash Plugin, however; even with the newest version of the plugin, I am still having problems. Any suggestions?

can you try this suggestion [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing%20the%20Flash%20plugin#w_playing-flash-videos-makes-firefox-hang] and/or [[How do I upgrade my graphics drivers?]]

  • How do I close Mozilla Firefox in order to instal an update of Adobe Flash Player?

I installed FF very recently at the recommendation of Blue Mountain.com as I was unable to send their e-cards with messages. Now I'm trying to update Adobe Flash Player and cannot do so because of the message 'close Moxilla Firefox to continue'. I've tried but have not been successful. Can you please help me? Thank you.

To close Firefox, in the menus select "File > Exit", you can start Firefox by using the same shortcut that you used to open Firefox originally.
I would ignore the instructions from Adobe. Adobe uses its own download manager but it is not required. All you need to do to install Adobe Flash is download the Adobe Flash manual installer and run it. For details on doing that see the Adobe troubleshooting article - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

  • About a month ago I updated my adobe flash program & since my MTS accelerator doesn't work on firefox but does on internet explorer. any help?

After this update I couldn't get online because a message said I needed
a proxy server & it couldn't be found. I contacted MTS & they told me
they don't use proxy servers & the MTS rep told me what to do to change that setting & then I was able to get online but the MTS accelerator wouldn't work so The MTS rep told me to uninstall it & download it again but nothing changed. I am a computer nerd so know very little about how the programs work so hope this helps

IE uses a different version of Flash than other browsers use.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

  • I have updated version of Mozilla Firefox 25.0 And adobe flash Player also latest version but every time adobe crush what to do

i have updated version of Mozilla Firefox 25.0 And adobe flash Player also latest version but every time adobe crush what to do

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash Player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
    (1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.
    (2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash
    (A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    (B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista and higher)
See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
