AS2 and CS3 Flash Professional

Does anyone know if AS2 compatible with CS3?
I am creating an electronic documents CD using AS2 and using
the fscommand exec to open .pdfs and .docs, etc. This has worked in
the past for me, but for some reason it is not cooperating now. The
only thing I can think of is that AS2 is not compatible. Can anyone
tell me for sure? Or maybe provide with a solution around this
problem, I would really hate to have to go and change all of my
coding to AS3.
Thanks a bunch,
Rehannah

AS 2 works in CS3. Your fscommand should work. The largest
stumbling block to using exec is the path to the application that
you want to use. This can be problematic.

There's no way to open or run the file. And to be honest, I'm not even sure if it's the right download... Help!

I'm using PC with Windows 8.1. I got onto the Creative Cloud and downloaded "Flash Professional CC and Mobile Device Packaging (2014)". <--- That would be the file. I can't open or run it from CC and I couldn't find a file in my computer either.
I've also found direct downloads for the trial version and hit the set-up button, it loads up, and then nothing happens.

  • Adobe Flash IDE: Migration/Compatibility issues between Adobe Flash Professional CS3 and CS5

    Hi,
Adobe Flash IDE: Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5
I am facing some  migration/compatibility issues between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe  Flash Professional CS5:
I am working on a project that has  been completely developed in CS3 earlier. When I am using CS5 (Flash Player 9 /  Flash Player 10) to compile the FLA files, it is creating some new issues like  some customized radio buttons are getting disappeared while viewing the SWF on a  web page etc.
So, I would like to  know:
    1) Is there any  migration/compatibility issue between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe  Flash Professional CS5?
    2) If yes: Is there any patch  available from Adobe for it?
    3) If no: What could be the causes  and the best possible solutions for it?
Any help and support would be highly  appreciated. Many thanks in advance!
    Thanks & Regards
    Amit

  • Flash professional cc won't open??

hello! i recently returned to flash with an interest in animation and was surprised to find that adobe had changed a lot since i last used their programs (flash cs5).
i downloaded adobe creative cloud, and installed flash professional cc, under a free 30 day trial. creative cloud says flash is up to date.
my issue is this: the program will not open at all! I click on it, and the loading image appears in the middle of my screen, but then it disappears after loading and nothing else happens. Flash.exe runs in my task manager, but i get no window or anything. i've tried everything i can think of and i'm very frustrated over all this!
has anyone had a similar issue, or does anyone know what i can do to fix this? I'd prefer to not reinstall it as i am under a deadline, but if i must then i will :S
my computer is running windows 7.
thanks in advance if anyone can help me out!

suspend av and antimalware, right click your exe and click 'run as administrator'.

  • Why won't Flash Professional finish downloading

Two days in a row I've tried installing and downloading Flash Professional, and the download stalls at 42%. It has been stalled at 42% downloaded for six hours now. What's wrong with the tie or the downloader?

ChiMaxx please try solution 2 in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html to resolve the current behavior you are experiencing in the Creative Cloud Desktop application.

  • CS3 and Flash Professional CC?

After an hour of digging around the main site and searching these forums, I could not find the answer I'm looking for. A company I'm applying to requires that I learn  CS3 for  building projects for their games. (I would be hired on as a writer, but need to build my projects using .fla's and such provided by others.) I'm getting everything I need now to start and one of the things I'm trying to figure out, and have apparently missed, is if Flash Professional CC can work on projects and save in CS3. It would need to be able to open up files that are already based in that language for re-writes as well as creating new projects to upload. All I was able to find was that it can handle CS6. Yes I understand CS3 is older, but that's what they use. Is it possible or am I going to have to go buy a version of CS3 for way more then I really want to at this point.

Flash CC will not be able to save a CS3 file as a CS3 file.

  • Flash professional and CS3/CS4

hi all, i have a fla file (suggested: need CS3 (version 9) to open)
right now i have flash professional 8
any idea for opening that fla in the same version
Also, i tried to download trial version of flash CS4 from adobe.com
but unable to download... what to do???
    thanks in advance.

if you have a fla that's been saved for flash 9, you can't open it in flash 8.  if the fla doesn't need any flash 9 features, whoever created it can save it for flash player 8 so you can open it in your version of flash.
why can't you download cs4 trial?

  • How to Create a trigger code for turning on light bulbs in flash and animate images professional cs6

    hi,
i designed a very interactive music website in illustrator and photoshop and i am trying to animate the main page design in flash professional and eventually publish it as HTML5. There are couple of questions i need to ask before starting
    1) should i import my design in differnet layers from illustrator into flash professional in order to make it easier to isolate and animate specific parts of the web page?
    2) i want to have a roll over effect that allows certain features in the page to turn on and off when the mouse hovers over them. can you explain how to do that? any tutorial videos i could follow
    3) what format should i use when importing my illustrator design into flash professional
    4) how should i animate the content pop out from the safe box into the main screen in flash professional (i have never used this program before, so i will be going off video tutorials and whatever suggestions/help you would have)
**The idea is to have a content frame fly out of the safe into the screen (the size will increase rapidly and it will fade into the screen as well while rotating 360 degrees for one revolution). The content is a basic rectangular frame i designed in illustrator. The body of this frame will be transparent allowing me to embed the main page features into it eg music, videos, bio etc. All this will be done in the later process, the main issue is figuring out how to animate the content frame into the screen and also creating a click feature that allows the content to fly back into the safe and then the safe closing in.
Secondly, the trigger code rollover effect that allows certain features light to turn on when the mouse hovers over it and turn over when its not.****

I think you'll get most flexibility by turning on the feature that lets you keep your Illustrator layers as Flash layers. You'll also want to check the box that lets you make an Illustrator object into a MovieClip for anything that you want to interact with or address through code.
Add an event listener for MOUSE_OVER that triggers whatever functions you need to create to turn on the features. This means that your object that you will mouse over will need to be a MC, as well as any other objects that will be addressed (for example, calling play()) will need to be a MC. You'll want to have a matching MOUSE_OUT handler that stops MC's, hides them, or whatever.
You should probably organize your Illustrator file so that the objects you need to address are on their own layers. This includes nested objects. Name things informatively. Remember, if the first import doesn't give you exactly what you want, you don't have to save the change--you can edit your settings or the Illustrator file and try again.
Look into motion tweens. I highly recommend the books "How to Cheat at Flash" and "Animation with Scripting." I don't really think the way they tell you to script will advance your career if you want to be a software architect, but if you just want to animate the occasional widget, it's fine.

  • Installing and using Adobe Air SDK 2.5 with Flash Professional CS4

    Hi,
I am trying to install the Air SDK 2.5 with Flash Professional CS4 with the intention of creating a program to use Actionscript 3 to communicate with the UDP interface using datagrams. (The server is the IL2 device link interface) As I am very new to this development environment I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions.
    1) Can I use datagram sockets with Air 2.5 with Actionscript 3 and Flash CS4?
    2) Is there special procedure for installing the AIR SDK 2.5 or do I use the instructions layout in "How to Overlay the Adobe Air 2 SDK for Use with Flash Professional - Flash professional CS4"?
    3) If I do use those instructions, when I edit the namespace for my application do I set it to 2.0 or 2.5?
    4) As a stepping stone to building my program I was trying to try to build the Actionscript 3  DatagramSocketExample program that is published by Adobe. Unfortunately I am getting a '1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: DatagramSocketDataEvent'.
Is there a step by step tutorial on how to get the example code up and running?
Thankyou for your time and patience with my noob questions
    Ian

This was part of the AIR 2.0 beta release note, but I used this for 2.5 and it works nice.
You can try it too an make sure you use 2.5 wherever the not says 2.0beta2.
    Goodluck.
How to Update Flash CS4 to Use the AIR 2 Beta SDK
If you use Flash CS4 Professional to build Adobe AIR applications, please follow the instructions below to manually update the version of the AIR SDK to use version 2.0.
Update Flash CS4 Professional to version 10.0.2 at http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html or select "Help > Updates... " from within Flash CS4.
Quit Flash CS4 Professional if it is open.
Navigate to the Flash CS4 installation folder. The default location on Windows is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4\" and on Mac OS "/Applications/Adobe Flash CS4/"
Within the "Adobe Flash CS4" folder you should see a folder called "AIK1.5". If this folder is not present repeat step #1.
Rename the folder "AIK1.5" to "AIK1.5 OLD" or delete it if you do not need to save a copy of it.
Make a new folder called "AIK1.5"
Download the Adobe AIR 2 SDK from the labs website and uncompress the contents of the folder to the new "AIK1.5" folder you just created.
Copy the "airglobal.swc" file located within the "Adobe Flash CS4/AIK1.5/frameworks/libs/air/" folder into the "Adobe Flash CS4/Common/Configuration/ActionScript 3.0/AIR1.5/" folder.
Flash CS4 is now configured to use the AIR 2 beta 2 SDK.
In order to take advantage of the new AIR 2 beta 2 features, you will need to update your application descriptor file to use the "2.0beta2" namespace.

  • How to add norwegian language to my ipa-file in Adobe Flash Professional and Settings for AIR

    Hi,
How to add Norwegian languages to my ipa-file in Adobe Flash Professional and Settings for AIR?
The Norwegian users get my apps in english instead of Norweigan. Desperate for help!

Sorry but you will not get help here for that problem. This forum is about AIR Help, an online help format produced using AIR, it is not about AIR itself.

  • Trying to reinstall CS5, but I've lost the Serial Number from Flash Professional 8, and it's no longer shown on my account page.

Something like 10 years ago (2004ish), I bought Flash Professional 8, and I upgraded to CS5 back in 2011. Following a number of hardware upgrades, including a new hard drive, I need both serial numbers to reinstall; I've done so several times in the past, but now the Flash 8 number isn't on my account page anymore, and the original e-mail is gone. The chance of finding the box is basically nil, so am I just screwed?

Helbereth I would recommend contacting our support team directly at Contact Customer Care and provide any alternate e-mail or phone numbers which the other software title may have been registered under.  You can find additional details on how to locate registered serial numbers at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

  • Using Flash Pro and Flash Builder together | Learn Flash Professional CS5 & CS5.5 | Adobe TV

Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and Adobe Flash Builder 4 enable time-saving workflows. Learn how to develop content in Flash while editing associated ActionScript code in Flash Builder 4, switching easily between the two applications to edit and test.
    http://adobe.ly/w50IJm

This doesn't seem to work the same way in CS5.5 / CS6
In the video the class files are associated with the FLA, when you switch back to Flash Pro...
So far, when I follow these steps the classes are not associated with the FLA, the class field for the stage in Flash remains blank.
Also, clicking the edit icon in the properties of a MovieClip and allowing FB to create the file, does not associate the as file with the MovieClip.
Returning to Flash Pro and clicking the Edit button attempt to create a new file once again, but since the file already exists in FB it just remains on the New ActionScript Class dialog, with the Finish Button grayed out (because a file with the same name already exists in FB).
The resulting AS files for a given are created in a sub folder under:
    Documents/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/[Project]/src-[Project]/*.as
Yet the FLA is located in Documents:
    Documents/[Project].fla
Should the as files exists with the fla, is a folder reference supposed to be set, or did I miss a step somewhere?
Is a source path supposed to be added to Flash Pro for:
    Documents/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/[Project]
I am currently on a Mac, but noticed the same behavior in Windows at work yesterday.
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:
    BJReis wrote:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.

  • Trying to understand capabilities of Flash Professional and Flash Builder 4

I recently purchased the CS5 Master Collection and am struggling to understand the uses for Flash Professional and Flash Builder 4.  I was inspired by Jay Pavlina's Super Mario Crossover game and wish to make similar applications.
However, I am confused about whether I should be using Flash Professional or Flash Builder 4 or both?  I purchased the two books that Jay Pavlina recommended "ActionScript 3.0 Animation Making Things Move!" and "Essential ActionScript 3.0".  I've been trying to find resources that will help me understand exactly the purpose of each of these applications.
It appears to me that ActionScript 3.0 is used in both?  So which one should I be using?  Or both?  Or is one more design oriented and the other more development oriented?  Can one make flash game like Jay's using just one or the other?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought about it a bit more. I think you should take my advice with a grain of salt. I am still standing behind what I said but there are some circumstances that we are not in control of.
If your task is to be the beginning and the end of your code - don't bother with Flash IDE. BUT, if you plan to monetize on your Flash/ActionScript skills, you may not have choice but be familiar with as many environments as possible.
Here is my personal experiense that illustrates this point.
I always prayed to gods, chanted to mandalas and made offerings to spirits to avoid a single thing - not ever deal with custom Flash components. Rightly or wrongly I perceive them as one of the lamest Macromedia creations. I am not talking about SWCs but about this thing that you create with preview and all other crap. Above all, it did not (and still doesn't) make much sense to me from functionality standpoint.
Anyway, as, I guess, a karmic retribution, I was dealt this card. I got involved in a project(s) where I was not told that my main task would be to, you are right, write and reverse engineer Flash custom components. If I did not know Flash IDE I would be totally lost. Custom components are so counter-intuitive that only people without programming background can view them as a convenience. Well, it is a convenience if they are written correctly.
The point is that, if you want to make a career out of it, you should gradually get involved with Flash IDE for now. The truth is that there are tons of agencies out there that do not have resources to hire high level developers and they employ "drag n' drop, cut n' paste" individuals. And this is a real market segment. Even well seasoned development houses have to succumb to this reality and cater to such entities.
It is your choice, of course, but I thought it wouldn't be fare to you to be very fascist about pushing my one-sided views.
