AS3 within imported Flash element isn't working upon Captivate publish

So I have been playing with this for a day now and can't seem to figure this out. I have a flash file that acts as a typewriter (similar to the typewriter animation... but I don't like how that looks so I created my own). I've rebuilt this 10 different ways now and have finally ended up with an AS3 version that uses the following code to type.

When I import this into Captivate CS5, the text types perfectly in the library's preview panel. It also plays correctly when I play it within the timeline. However, once I export and view the presentation via the HTML file, the text doesn't type at all. It just appears complete, as if the actionscript ran but the timer didn't work or something. Its very strange.
Am I missing some important export feature or something, because this is driving me bonkers!

You could get around this by turning your animation into your own widget. WidgetFactory has a feature called Template Methods that allow you to execute code at a particular point in the swf's life. One of them, enterRuntime(), is called when the widget is set to appear in the Captivate Movie, not when it gets loaded right at the start.
This eSeminar should teach you all you need to know to turn your animation into a widget. For now though, I'd say this is what the code for the widget would look like:

This is all in an external ActionScript file. So copying and pasting this into the timeline won't work.
