Asa 5505 site to site VPN between A to B site, then B site MPLS to internal network

Dear all
I am setting up site to site VPN between two site A to B site.  Two local site of A and B are connected fine.  however for my site B have another internal MPLS to other site.  The connection fine from LAN A all the way to LAN B MPLS router, but it cannot be connect to other MPLS site.  If I did the MPLS traceroute from other site.  It can be reached of LAN B internal router.  Therefore, I am confusing which part of my configuration go wrong and any document for my reference.  Thank you very much.

If traceroute from other 11.0.0.0 site to 11.20.128.250, it can reach until LAN B ASA 11.14.127.223

  • Remote site redundancy IPSEC VPN between 2911 and ASA

    We already have IPSEC VPN connectivity established between sites but would like to introduce some resilience/redundancy at a remote site.
    Site A has an ASA with one internet circuit.
    Site B has a Cisco 2911 with one internet circuit and we have established site-to-site IPSEC VPN connectivity between the 2911 and the ASA.
    Prior to getting the new internet circuit, Site B had a Cisco 877 with an ADSL line which are still available but aren’t currently in use.
    The internet circuit at Site B has dropped a few times recently so we would like to make use of the ADSL circuit (and potentially the 877 router too) as a backup.
    What is the best way of achieving this?
    We thought about running HSRP between the 877 and 2911 routers at Site B and, in the event of a failure of the router or internet circuit, traffic would failover to the 877 and ADSL.
    However, how would Site A detect the failure? Can we simply rely on Dead Peer Detection and list the public IP address of the internet circuit at Site B first with the public IP address used on the ADSL line second in the list on the ASA? What would happen in a failover scenario and, just as important, when service was restored – I’m not sure DPD would handle that aspect correctly?
    I’ve read briefly elsewhere that GRE might be best to use in this scenario – but I can’t use GRE on the ASA. I have an L3 switch behind the ASA which I may be able to make use of? But I don’t want to disrupt the existing IPSEC VPN connectivity already established between the ASA and the 2911.   Can I keep IPSEC between the ASA and 2911 but then run GRE between the L3 switch and the 2911? If so, how would this best be achieved?  And how could I also introduce the 877 and ADSL line into things to achieve the neccessary redundancy?

    I don't think GRE tunnel that you could set up on the switch  behind ASA would be really helpfull. Still site-2-site tunnel you want  to establish between ASA and some routers, but still it is ASA which needs to make decision about which peer to connect to.
    Possible solution would be to do HSRP between both routers on LAN side and with two independent tunnels/crypto maps (one on each of them). On ASA you would need to set up two hosts in set peer. Problem of this solution is that if one router at side B is going to go down and second ADSL line will take over ASA will not do preempt after you main Internet connection is up again. This would happen after ADSL Internet connection will be down.
    Solution to that would be to assign two different public IP addressess on two different interfaces of ASA. Then you attach two crypto maps to both interfaces and by using sla monitor (let's say icmp to main router, if it does not respond then you change routing for remote LAN to second interface) you are selecting which crypto map (with one peer this time) should be used.
    I hope what I wrote makes some sense.

    Hello Wayne,
    Can you use a different subnet range than the internal interface, this could cause you a LOT of issues and hours on troubleshooting, so use a dedicated different Ip address range...
    I can see that the local Pool range is included into the inside interface Ip address subnet range, change that and the related config ( NAT,etc, ) and let us know what happens,

    Hello Jon,
      Thank you so much for your response. Clients will not be connect to a specific RDP server.  I was hoping if we were to establish a VPN Client tunnel I would like that tunnel to provide full local are access.  So the way the clients are used to is while in the field they use RDP to connect to their desktops on the internal LAN.
    Would you say this would work:

  • Cisco ASA 5505 Dual-ISP Backup VPN

    I am trying to create a backup tunnel from an ASA 5505 to a pix 501 in the case of the Main ISP failing.  The Pix external side will stay the same, but not quite sure how I can create a new crypto map and have it use the Backup ISP interface without bringing down the main tunnel.
    My first thought was to add the following crypto map to the configuration below:

    In that case is the PIX who needs two peers (to the ASA).
    The ASA will requiere the crypto map to be applied to the backup interface as well (as you mentioned)
    crypto map outside_map interface backupisp -->but this would break the current tunnel.
    The above command should not break the current tunnel (if the route to reach the other end goes out via the primary interface).
    Additionally you need IP SLA configured in the ASA to allow it to use the primary connection and fallback to the backup connection to build-up the tunnel (as well to use again the primary interface when it recovers).

  • Access Site to Site from SSL VPN. ISA 570 & ASA 5505

    I have an Site to Site network between my ISA 570 and my ASA 5505.
    On the ISA 570 side I have the network 192.168.0.0/24 and remote users that are connecting via AnyConnect are in the 192.168.190.0/24
    On the ASA 5505 side I have the netowrk 192.168.200.0/24
    The Site to Site is working properly i can reach the networks from both sides.
    But when I am connected via AnyConnect to the ISA firewall I will also access the 192.168.200.0/24 network on the ASA side.
    I have made an firewall (in the ISA 570) rule that are allowing traffic from SSLVPN to VPN, but I need to nat the traffic from the 192.168.190.0/24 to 192.168.200.0/24 otherwise the ASA are blocking the traffic. I can solve the problem in the ASA but i want to solve it in the ISA 570.

    I have solved my problem.
    Just added an Advanced NAT.

  • CIsco ASA 5505 and VPN licenses

    Hi,
    Cisco ASA 5505 comes with 10 VPN licenses in a standard configuration.
    How those licenses are counted? Will I need a license per one IPSec SA?
    If I have two site connected with LAN-to-LAN VPN with 10 subnets at one site, how many licenses will be taken? 10 - one per IPSec SA or just 1 - one per point-to-point VPN?

    In an ASA 5505, it should say something like this...when you do sh ver.
    VPN Peers : 25
    It means that you can have so many peers connecting to the ASA. Its not per IPSec SA.
    Its a per tunnel license.

  • ASA 5505 - L2TP over IPsec - Remote Address shows outside interface address

    Using an ASA 5505 for firewall and VPN.  We've enabled L2TP over IPsec to allow Windows clients to connect without third party software.
    The devices complete the connection and authenticate fine, but then are unable to hit any internal resources.  Split tunneling seems to be working, as they can still hit outside resources.  Packet tracer shows tcp flowing freely between VPN clients (192.168.102.0/24) and internal resources (192.168.100.0/24).  Even the NAT translation looks good in packet tracer.
    I pulled up the session details for one of the VPN clients in the ASDM and under the IPsecOverNatT details, it is showing the VPN client's remote address correctly, but displays the local address as the address assigned to the outside interface (which the client is using to connect.)  This seems to be the problem, as viewing detailed connection logs shows the internal resources trying to send packets back to the outside interface rather than the VPN client's assigned internal addresses.  Details:

    Any ideas?  The remote clients connect but when internal resources try to send traffic to the VPN clients, the packets are directed to the outside interface address instead of the local address assigned to the VPN client.

     I have what I believe to be a similar issue. Site to site vpn is working well. That is site b can ping and send traffic to site A but Site A can not. Site B is a 3rd party vpn router. Site A is a Cisco 5505.
    It appears that when the crypto map inserts the route into the routing table it shows the route via the outside IP of the outside interface and not the IP of Site B. in the crypto map I can see the proper ip address for the peer. I can't figure out why when it inserts the route that it uses the wrong ip address

    cisco asa 5505 keeps disconnecting ssl vpn users

    Thank you Marius for the reply.
    Are you seeing any errors when disconnection happens?
    At the corner of the screen Anyconnect pops up saying "VPN Reconnecting", stays disconnected for 3 or 4 seconds and than says "VPN connected to (vpn name)".
    is this happening to all users or just a select few?
    This happens very frequently, every 3 or 4 minutes for all users.
    are the users able to connect sometimes, but other times not?
    Sometimes we have to try twice in order to connect.
    My first though is that the VPN pool is depleted.  I had a similar problem a couple years back.  When the VPN pool was used up, users that were connected to the VPN were randomly kicked off.  Solution was to increase the number of IPs in the VPN pool.
    I kicked off every user connected to the VPN, but me, and it was still doing it.
    Also the upload speed is 0.6 M and that is the most we can get from AT&T. Maybe because the CO is too far. I don't know for sure if there might be a congestion on the link, but i tried this at 11 PM and killed the inside connection to the ASA so only the ASA was connected to the DSL line and it was still doing it.

    When the checksum fails, either the IOS image you are trying to load is corrupted (or incomplete) or the tftp download corrupted the image.
    I would start by using an older, smaller image. Such as 8.2(5). Tftp that image to get the ASA booted, then upgrade to 9.0(2).

  • Site to Site VPN Between Two ASA 5505's Up But Not Passing Traffic

    i am setting up a site to site vpn between two asa 5505's.  the tunnel is up but i cannot get it to pass traffic and i have run out of ideas at this point.  i am on site as i am posting this question and only have about 4 hours left to figure this out, so any help asap is greatly appreciated.  i'll post the configs below along with the output of sh crypto isakmp sa and sh ipsec sa.

    Hi Keegan,
    Your tunnel is up and encrypting traffic one way, the other end is not able to encrypt the traffic.
    I would suggest to do a 'clear xlate'?  Sometimes if you setup the nonat configuration after you've attempted other configurations, you need to 'clear xlate' before the previous NAT configuration is cleared and the new one works.

    I've tried create configuration with and without ASA wizard, but anyway it doesn't work.

    I don't hve any NAT-exemptions in Cisco IOS Router. Transform-set I will change soon, but I've tried with tunnel mode and it didn't work.
    Maybe NAT-exemptions is the issue. Can you advice me which exemptions should be in Cisco IOS Router?
    Because on Cisco ASA I guess I have everything.

  • Site to Site VPN between ASA 5505 and Cisco 800 router

    Evening all,
    Hoping that someboy can see the error of my ways.  It seems very like the problem that i read here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2016300
    We have a cisco 800 in a remote site which we wanted to use for a site to site vpn.  Went through the steps on the ASA 5505 and the 800 and have got to the stage were the tunnel is up and connected.  Getting traffic through it is another matter.  Remote network is 172.20.224.0/20 and the server network behind the ASA is 192.168.168.0/24. The tunnel does intiate when you send traffic from 172 ......to 192.......  Both the ASA and 800 report the tunnel is up.  If i look at the stats using ccp on the 800 i can see the encapsulation packets graph shooting up but nothing cominbg back.  I did packet captures on the 5505 and could not see anything coming from the tunnel so i dont belive its making it to the ASA.  Here is the config from the 800:
