ASA 5550 V05 Active/passive one stop work

Hello,
I have a client, that got 2x ASA 5550 V05 and they were configured to act as active/passive but some months ago they had problems with them, so they remove them from the network.
Recently, I went there, and saw that one of the firewall (the one that was as passive) is not working, when I connect via console and reboot it I don't even see nothing, the boot starts, but suddenly, nothing shows up.
The things is that the client wants to get back to use the ASAs, so is there any way to fix that?
As an alternative we were thinking in acquire another ASA, to configure the two as active/passive again, the ASA that its working is:
ASA 5550 V05 ; Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 7.2(4) ; Device Manager Version 5.2(4) ; 8 Ports GB ( 4+4) ; asa724-k8.bin
My question is, I need an exactly the same model ASA?
I was thinking in put one ASA5555-2SSD120-K9. That would work?
Or should I try anything else? I don't have many skills with ASA specially troubleshooting it.

Hi Diogo,
The issue related to failed firewall could be related to a hardware issue, you may get some outputs from console session when the ASA is booting up. Try to boot up the firewall again, if this doesn´t work then you should open a TAC case so they can help you replacing the firewall(the ASA needs to be under an active contract).
Regarding ASA model and failover, both firewalls must be the same model(hardware).

    You don't need to delete anything from your phone or you old computer.
    Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer or backup to /Music/ on new computer.
    If you cannot use the old computer or don't have a backup...
    -> Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
    Then immediately make a backup of your new computer.
    Get an external drive and plug it in and use -> Time Machine

  • ASA 5550 Transparent Active/Standby Configuration

                       Hello guys!
         I am in the process of adding a new ASA 5550 as a standby box to an existing ASA 5550 running on transparent mode. Both are on version ASA 8.0(4) and ASDM 6.2(1). I have set the new ASA 5550 to transparent mode. The configurations are the following for the HA:
    Primary ASA:
    interface GigabitEthernet1/3
    description LAN Failover Interface
    media-type sfp
    failover
    failover lan unit primary
    failover lan interface failover GigabitEthernet1/3
    failover interface ip failover 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.1.2
    Secondary ASA:
    interface GigabitEthernet1/3
    description LAN Failover Interface
    failover
    failover lan unit secondary
    failover lan interface failover GigabitEthernet1/3
    failover interface ip failover 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.1.2
    My questions are the following:
    1. The management ip address is different than the ip used for the failover link. Since the firewalls are on transparent mode, does the failover ip needs to be the same as the management ip address?
    2. Does any other additional config is needed for HA to work for basic active/stand-by failover?
    3. Wich is the best method to add the second box without disrupting the active box?

    1. The aswer is no, it can be different.
    2. You can optionaly add statefull failover config.
    3. Issue the failover command on the primary device first, and then issue it on the secondary device. After you issue the failover command on the secondary device, the secondary device immediately pulls the configuration from the primary device and sets itself as standby. The primary ASA stays up and passes traffic normally and marks itself as the active device. From that point on, whenever a failure occurs on the active device, the standby device comes up as active.

  • Activity Monitor has stopped working

    Hi,
    My Activity Monitor has suddenly stopped working. Everytime I click on the icon in my dock or in Utilities nothing happens (icon in the dock bounces a couple of times then does nothing).
    I find this program helpful but can't use it! Do I really have to reinstall Tiger again?

  • Mouse button activation of Spaces stops working requiring reboot to restore

    I am using a Kensington Expert Mouse with 4 buttons. I have the upper right mouse button mapped to "Button 4". I have Spaces configured to be activated by Button 4.
    Everything works great. I love it. However, periodically it just stops working - meaning I hit the mouse button and nothing happens. I can still hit F8 to get Spaces - just no mouse button.
    I have checked both the configuration of the mouse and of Spaces in preferences to make sure nothing has changed. It is all setup the same way. It just doesn't work.
    BUT ... if I reboot, the functionality comes back.
    I can't tell is this is part of the problem but I do put the laptop to sleep frequently and it may be that this functionality doesn't come back after a sleep. I haven't paid close attention.
    Any ideas?

    I am also experiencing this problem. For me, the Dock seems to crash every once in awhile and then the mouse binding for Spaces no longer works. When this happens, the OS still recognizes me pushing that mouse button so I don't think it's a mouse problem. F8 works while the mouse button won't work.
    This is what I saw in my logs last time it happened:

    I have 32GB Playbook with latest OS upgrade. My Official email using Active Sync was working fine till Morning but stopped working after that.
    I tried to reset with "Security Wipe" but it didnt helped. The error message i am getting is:
    "The account settings are not correct".
    But same setting is working on my IPAD and ANDRIOD phone. 
    Please let me know if anyone faced same problem and how did it solved.

  • Active Screen Corners stop working without complete restart

    Since I installed Snow Leopard, I've noticed a problem with my active screen corners not working. I usually only completely restart once in a while, so I usually just shut the lid at night (or when I go anywhere). with 10.5, it used to be that active screen corners always worked when I did that, but since I installed Snow Leopard, active screen corners quit working. I have to completely restart to get them to start working again.
    Is there a way to fix this, or is it a bug?

    I tested this with a few system applications, if it helps anybody.
    It also might be interesting to note that in all cases where expose won't trigger, the dock won't unhide by holding the mouse at the bottom of the screen either so long as any of the non-working applications are selected.
    List of applications that also have this problem on my system:
    Textedit
    Activity Monitor
    iChat
    Calculator (Unlike the other applications, the active corners don't even work on this the first time)
    List of applications tested that are NOT having this problem:
    iTunes
    Safari
    Terminal
    Mail
    Address Book
    Photo Booth
    QuickTime
    Automator.
    Does anybody know if the applications that are not working have anything in common? Conversely, could anybody confirm that they are NOT experiencing this problem, and that it is specific to certain system configurations, or perhaps even my system?

  • My iphone5 will not charge ! I bought a new charger recently after my old one stopped working, the guy said because the wire got scrunched but i had recieved it like that, and now even the new one won't charge properly.

    I recieved my iphone in October right after is what released. It worked beautifully until recently in earlier January I realized that my phone charger would only charge it in certain positions and it had to be held there. Then one day it stopped charging all together, I took the charger to the Sprint store and the guy explained that its because the charger got scrunched up to the top and I had to purchase a new one for $30. I have been using the charger for the past 2 weeks and it has been working fine. Now it won't charge unless I hold it in certain postions again!. I don't know if it's the phone or simply the chargers. My phone is in perfect condiiton, protected and all and so is the new charger.. someone give me advice please. I am so desperate ..

    This is the best picture I can take because I used photobooth on the mac book pro to take this and it automatically flashes, but if you can see that the area near where it goes into the phone is scrunched up. It keeps happening to me and I do not bring my phone charger anywhere.

  • Impossible to update to new itunes -- after old one stops working and refuses to update

    I'm trying to load a new version of itunes onto my wife's computer after the old one hasn't been able to update or even visit the music store. I tried following the recommendations from the site to delete (through control panel/add and delete programs) and was unable to successfully delete the older programs. The same goes for quicktime.
    It was recommended that I delete the following programs on the apple site...
    itunes
    quicktime
    apple software updater
    apple mobile device support
    bonjour
    apple applications support.
    being unable to delete these programs successfully, the installer halts and says I need to delete completely the old programs.
    Any manual delete tips from you guys? The operating system is XP

  • Active passive UTM cluster

    Hi all,
    I got myself a nice problem
    I have two ESXi 5.5 host, each server runs a guest Sophos UTM9, these are used as gateway/firewall in active/passive mode. Each server has one physical NIC for this LAN traffic. Connected on a dvSwitch.
    They active/passive is working fine, when one goes down the other takes over and vice versa. But, I noticed that one of my ESXi servers had some problems. It has DNS issues and couldn't ping the Gateway. I did check all settings and all turns out to be fine. Strange thing was that after a reboot I can ping the gateway for a minute or two and after these minutes the gateway becomes unavailable on one ESXi server. On the other ESXi server there are no problems and the gateway is responding. Checking for differences between the two ESXi server gave no result, checking the UTM gateway and again nothing to detect.
    Then it struck me , after the reboot the second (passive) UTM Gateway comes online in 1 or 2 minutes and on that moment problems start. The problems are on the ESXi server with the passive UTM.
    I suspect that the ESXi servers sees the (passive) UTM gateway on the servers internal network card and instead of sending the traffic over the switch to the ESXi server with the active UTM it keeps the traffic local resulting in PING and DNS failures.
    It seems to me that this is a active/passive problem and I have to tell the ESXi host with the passive gateway to forward the traffic to the other server, for incoming and outgoing traffic. I been thinking of LACP configuration, getting the dvSwitch ports of the two physical server seen as one. But, untill now I'm not getting the desired result. Can anyone help me on getting this active/passive gateway cluster working?

    You talk about windows cluster, is this the correct structure that you want.

    I got a replacement to my daughter’s iPad mini in September b/c her 1st one stopped working and now it happened again. I took it to the Apple store and  i was told that there's  nothing they can do. What's wrong with the iPad minis?

    I have an iPad mini and it works great, so do many other people.
    Is it possible your daughter abused the device?   If it gets dropped, even in a damage proof case, it is a shock to the iPad.   Most survive, but if it happens often, it might be a problem.
    Charging often, not completely, leaving in charger while in use a lot?
    Leaving the iPad in a hot car, or freezing the iPad?

    HI - I have two local (Canadian) bb contacts and one British one. Have been bb messaging them all with no problem for months and suddenly the other day the british one stopped working. We've tried deleting each other and re - adding each other but to no avail. We just stay in pending despite having accepted!  Anyone any ideas please???

    Are you adding each other by email or by device PIN number?  I've always had better luck with adding by PIN.

  • Internal Keyboard frequently stops working

    We have a new (2 week old, purchased from Apple as Refurbished) Powerbook G4/1.67/15" with a keyboard that isn't operating correctly. Every once in a while, perhaps once or twice a day - a number of the keys (at random - not always the same ones) stop working and the remaining functioning ones produce the wrong characters. The number lock key is not on. Periodically, the user can't access his account as the keyboard does not produce the correct characters. When this happens, we use an external USB keyboard, which works.
    We suspect it might possibly be the result of a poor internal connection somewhere between the keyboard and the motherboard.
    Has anyone any other suggestions?

    Hi Andrew, I have the same problem with my older seventeen <can't type even numbers> inch PB after a repair. As for now I browsed through this forum and discovered that it might be a connection problem of the cable of the keyboard. If you want to repair it yourself, you might checkout www.ifixit.com, which gives you excellent explaination on how to open different parts of you PB. I did not start with mine yet, but will do as soon as I hove an undisturbed afternoon. If you find out something else, please drop me a mail to.
