ASA Max Limits

In the ASA Data Sheet there is a Max Virtual Interfaces part in the table, for a 5525-X for example this is 200, is this restriction of 200 still the case when I have 2 firewalls in Active/Active?
Also if I have a ASA in transparent mode is there a max limit on the amount of Bridge Groups and BVI's I can create?
Thanks,
Dan

Mark,
I have not found anything about the XLATES, but the following gives you the basics about how many connections for all the ASA5500 series devices and what their basic capabilites are.

  • ASA max internal users

    Hi all,
    anyone knows how's limit of the configurable internal users on an asa?
    Is the nvram size the only limit or is there some other kind of limitation?
    Tnx,
    Max.

    Hi Huseyin,
    if you are referring to the detail about "ipsec vpn peers" I'm pretty sure it has to read as "concurrent ipsec connections" as it historically refers to the active isakmp sa's.
    Are you aware of the fact that they may match also with the max users configurable on the internal database, that is the running config?
    In other words, are you saying that in an asa5510 you can configure 250 internal users then the 250 + 1 is not allowed to be entered even if the nvram is used only for the half of its room?
    Tnx,
    Max.

  • Max limits for conf attendance

    We are using Lync 2013 on prem deployment and we wanted to know, how many meetings a Lync client can join in simultaneously? is there any documented resource on such limits on various aspects of Lync?
    Thank you guys in advance.

    Thanks for your link, but I was coming from participant's point of view, that as a participant how many simultaneous conference I can join using Lync windows 2013 desktop client. I didn't find anything useful. My question comes from the a very peculiar use
    of conferencing by one of the user.
    The user is handling a large implementation as a PM and as a part of deployment of his project, he needs to simultaneously coordinate with 10 to 15 different group of people during short period of time. So he basically creates 15 different Lync meetings
    occurring at the same time say (9 PM to 11 PM) and invites different groups into different meetings and simultaneously joins and hops between meetings as part of his coordination effort. He is complaining that he can only connect to 6 meetings at max simultaneously
    and then Lync client sort of hangs. He can't combine meetings due to confidential nature of work.
    I hope this puts the question in perspective.

  • How to create MIN/MAX limitations in SELECT statement ??

    Hey,
    I have a table which rank90 (city population ranked from 1>*) and state_abrv which has the corresponding state for each city rank.
    Is there a way to select only the maximum AND minimum ranks for each state ??
    I realise there is a max and min function, but i need to do it for EACH state_abrv.
    An example say Los Angeles is ranked 2, San Diego is ranked 6, and San Fransico is ranked 14 (All of these citys are in california (CA)). How do i display a table which lists only Los Angeles (Highest rank) and San Fransico (lowest rank) but DOESNT list San diego ??
    Thanks, you guys are helping me heaps and im starting to learn a lot more :P

  • ASA max concurrent connections

    If I have a thousand nodes from the public each perform a UDP ping to a server behind the ASA, does each count as a concurrent connection?

    Hi,
    I imagine it does.
    Also I guess if we are talking about just some random UDP traffic it would also mean that the default timeout for a connection would be 2min. The most usual UDP traffic would probably be DNS querys. In those cases I presume though that the UDP connections dont stay on firewall for long as long as the firewall sees the DNS reply.
    But as I said if we are talking about some random UDP traffic that is allowed through the firewall I would guess it stays in the connection table of the firewall for a couple of minutes. So you might be looking at 1000 concurrent connections or even more?
    I have once witnessed a single server sending so much UDP traffic that it reached the connection limit of an ASA5540 which is 400 000 concurrent connections.

    Regards

    32-bit can only address up to 4 GB of memory. The maximum RAM for a 32-bit kernel and all processes is limited to 3.25 GB, depending on BIOS. With a PAE kernel, 36-bit, and appropriate CPU support you can address up to 16 GB of RAM. However it will slow down memory access and each process is still limited to 3GB, and the kernel is limited to 1GB. If you have more than 4 GB of RAM installed, than a 64-bit kernel will be able to address RAM directly, which will be faster and also solve your memory constrains. You can run 32-bit software on a 64-bit system, provided you have installed the 32-bit libraries, without any performance penalty since the x86 instruction set is still in hardware, hence x86_64. There is no reason to use a 32-bit system unless the CPU does not support long mode like Intel or AMD CPU's before 2003.

  • JSpinner min/max limits

    Hi, I have a spinner issue. I have set the min, max, & step size on a SpinnerNumberModel for my spinner. Now I want to turn the spinner textfield red when a user enters a value lower then the min and greater then the max. Various listeners on the spinner, model, textfield, etc aren't registering when the user enters an invalid number, only when there is a valid entry.
    Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks.

    Found a solution:
    On the JFormattedTextField of the spinner, I added a custom InputVerifier that overwrote the verify() method.
    class SpinnerDataInputVerifier extends InputVerifier {
        protected final UpdateStatusSpinner m_spinner;
        public SpinnerDataInputVerifier(UpdateStatusSpinner spinner)
            m_spinner = spinner;
        public boolean verify(JComponent input)
            boolean isValid = false;
             if (input instanceof JFormattedTextField)
                 JFormattedTextField ftf = (JFormattedTextField)input;
                 AbstractFormatter formatter = ftf.getFormatter();
                 if (formatter != null)
                     String text = ftf.getText();
                     try
                          formatter.stringToValue(text);
                          isValid = true;
                          m_spinner.isUserEditValid(isValid);
                     catch (ParseException pe)
                         ftf.setBackground(Color.red);
                          isValid = false;
                          m_spinner.isUserEditValid(isValid);
              return isValid;
        @Override
        public boolean shouldYieldFocus(JComponent input)
            return verify(input);
        }

  • Max column length

    I will like to find out what is the MAX column length for nchar and nvarchar types using AL16UTF16.
    As per the metalink article 'Examples and limits of BYTE and CHAR semantics usage' it is 1000 and 2000 for 2 bytes characters. But in Al16UTF16, characters can also take up to 4 bytes. So does that change the max limits.
    Also what is MAX length for a Clob and NClob type

    in Al16UTF16, characters can also take up to 4 bytes. No. One character (code point) is represented in 2 bytes. However, some characters are mapped to surrogate pair of code points, as pointed out by the Note "In AL16UTF16 this will use 2 UTF16 codepoints and so occupy 4 bytes.".
    So the limits noted still applies. If you have logical characters mapped to more than one code point, more space will of course be required for storage.

  • EM12c: SNMP V2c table retrieval size limitation?

    Hi,
    I am trying to use SNMP fetchlet to retrieve data from ifTable and ifXTable tables and need to use V2c since some of the data is Counter64 data types. The collection of metrics fails at row 26 while the table contains more than 500 interfaces.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the response,
    I tried this value but it only applies for SNMP V1 version where the getNext operation is used to retrieve the table.
    If you have Counter64 values you need to use SNMP V2c. While doing V2c the max limitation will be used in the first portion where Snmp fetchlet uses getNext operations using the first OID to determine the size (number of rows) of the table, and then uses this size value in the getBulk operation as max-repetitions argument.
    The getBulk is only sent one time and the result only contains Varbinds to the max size of allowed the packet. The return data is thus limited to a number of varbinds which is much lower that the actual table.
    What I think it should be doing is not do the getNext operation to get the table size, but instead just do multiple getBulk with smaller number of max-repetitions, something which would be like 5 or 10. This would retrieve those 5 or 10 rows at a time. Also this value should be a parameter in the fetchlet configuration since the plugin developer would benefit using this to configure/optimize the getBulk operation. See MAX-REPETITIONS property in the example below.
    As an example of the config for query descriptor:
              <QueryDescriptor FETCHLET_ID="Snmp">
                   <Property NAME="NAME" SCOPE="INSTANCE">NAME</Property>
                   <Property NAME="hostname" SCOPE="INSTANCE">hostName</Property>

    As the contents are in unicode, I think save it as a text file seems difficult. Any other solution suggest to me??
    Thanks a lot.

  • Dump : COMPUTE_INT_PLUS_OVERFLOW

    Hi experts,
    I am getting a dump COMPUTE_INT_PLUS_OVERFLOW in a report.
    its at the line: z1 = z1 + z1.
    Dump says:
    "Using + or 'ADD' to add the values 2060095488 and 2060095488 resulted in a
    value greater than 2147483647 or samller than -2147483648. This
    leads to a whole number overflow.
    A temporary solution is perhaps to divide this operation up into smaller
    individual operations, so that smaller sums are being dealt with."
    z1 is declared as:

    Hi Ajay,
    This dump is because ur computed value is more than system limit for the data type of that variable. Check below max limits for each data type.
    b 0 to 255 0
    c Any alphanumeric character " " for every position
    d 8 user-defined alphanumeric characters; Only values in the format YYYYMMDD that are permitted as date entries according to the calendar rules are valid: YYYY (year): 0001 to 9999, MM(month): 01 to 12, DD (day): 01 to 31 "00000000"

Valid values are -1,7976931348623157EE+308 to -2,2250738585072014EE-308 for the negative area, the value zero, and +2,2250738585072014EE-308 to +1,7976931348623157EE+308 for the positive area. Both validity areas are extended in the direction of zero through denormalized numbers after IEEE-754. 0

    n Any alphanumeric characters, however, valid values are only the digits 0 to 9 "0" for every position.
    p The valid length for packed numbers is between 1 and 16 bytes; two decimal places are packed into one byte, whereby the last byte only contains one place and the plus/minus sign; after the decimal separator, up to 14 decimal places are permitted. Depending on the field length len and the number of decimal places dec, the following applies for the value area: (-10^(2len -1) +1) / (10^(+dec)) to (+10^(2len -1) -1) /(10^(+dec)) in steps of 10^(-dec). Values in between this range are rounded off. 0

    s -32.768 to +32.767 0
    t 6 user-defined alphanumeric characters; the only valid values are numbers that are interpreted as a time specification in the 24-hour clock format HHMMSS. SAP recommmends to exclusively use 00 to 23 hours for HH (hours) and 00 to 59 for MM (minutes) and 00 to 59 for SS (seconds). "000000"
    x hexadecimal characters 0-9, A-F hexadecimal 0
    xstring as for type x empty string of length 0.
    U can declare ur varible to accomodate max length possible in ur calculation.
