ASA5510 configuration to end VPN L2L and remote client in DMZ interface

Hi,
we have a Cisco ASA5510 with 3 interfaces.
- Internet Interface with private addressing
- DMZ Interface with public IP address
- Internal interface.
Our ISP route our public IP range to our Internet interface (with a 192.168.x.x).
I'm trying to configure ASA5510 for L2L VPN and for Cisco VPN client server listening in the public IP@ assigned to the DMZ interface, but for the moment without success.
Is it possible?. Any consideration to have into account?.
I attach a diagram.
I see packets UDP500 arriving to the Internet interface but there is no replies:
172: 17:07:25.164115 81.223.31.240.50763 > X.X.X.X.500:  udp 1160
(X.X.X.X is a public IP@ configured in the DMZ interface)
Thanks a lot.

I don't think it is possible with only one *logical* interface. Router as a EZVPN Client requires two interfaces to do PAT for traffic going to the Internet. So far as I know, this is autoconfigured in both Client and NEM modes and cannot be disabled. However you *can* use 802.1q trunk to create two *logical* interfaces and configure EZVPN Client, or just configure Site-to-Site on a stick.

  • Difference between system copy and Remote Client copy?

    Hi,
    Can any body suggest me , What are the major difference between System copy and Remote Client Copy.
    As per my knowledge , Both are different
    1.In system copy  entire data recovered mean copy from Source to target
    2.In Remote client copy All  Client data can't me import if you choose SAP_ALL profile also
          I hope Transaction data and user data can't copied
    Anybody share this Question and Give me some idea about this
    If anybody  give brief explanation that is very gratefull.
    regards,
    Balaram

    Hi,
    System copy will replicate all database from source to target system.
    In remote copy only client in which you are performing the copy will get refresh. Also, remote client copy will be done between systems on same patch level. with SAP_ALL profile you can bring all data in target system including your transactional data.
    Thanks

  • Steps to setup and configure Node Manager on local and remote machine

    Hello,
    I am using WLS 10.3 on Windows.
    I have two machines, One cluster and two managed servers (one on each machine) created under a domain. I have used configuration wizard to create the domain.
    I have gone through documents on Node Manager and found what to configure. But I have not found when to configure. In other words I want to know what is the sequence of steps if I have to set Node Manager on my local machine (in which domain exists) and on remote machine.
    Please let me know the sequence of steps I need to follow to set and configure the Node Manager on local and remote machine. I want to use Java Node Manager (not the Script node manager).
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

    Hello,
    Ok, let me tell you what I have done till now.
    1) Installed WebLogic 10.3 on machine A (local machine, on which I have created domain and my Admin Server is running. Also Managed Server 1 is created on this machine).
    2) Installed WebLogic 10.3 on machine B (remote machine, on which Managed Server 2 will be created).
    3) On machine A I used the configuration wizard and create a domain. While creating the domain I did the following:
    i) Created two managed servers.
    ii) Created a cluster
    iii) Assigned Servers to cluster.
    iv) Created two machines.
    v) Assigned servers to machines (Admin Server and MS_1 to machine A and MS_2 to machine B).
    4) Sarted Admin Server.
    5) On the Admin Console I made some configurations for the Node Manager on Machines -> Machine A -> Node Manager. Assigned the values:
    i) Type (SSL)
    ii) Listen Address (IP_Address of machine A)
    iii) Listen Port (5556)
    6) Similarly did for Machine B.
    So till now phsically the managed server (MS_2) directory and configuration is not there on Machine B (its only configured on machine A because I created the domain on Machine A).
    Now I want install/configure/setup NM on both the machines. Start my both the managed servers using Admin Console (which will use the node managers).
    What are the sequence of steps I need to follow my task?
    Any help and suggestions are welcome with warm regards.
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

    I suggest that you read the manual carefully. There are many tipps to improve performance (parallel processes) and tipps and tricks to avoid problems. If you need some notes, they are adviced there.

  • Cisco VPN Software and Remote Desktop Problem

    Hello-
    Please have patience as I just got my first mac and I'm really just learning how everything works.
    Anyway, I'm trying to connect to my office network from my iMac (OS X 10.5.3) using the Cisco VPN client ver. 4.9.01 (0030) and the Remote Desktop Connection v2.0.0 Beta 3. I'm able to connect via the VPN but I cannot connect to the remote machine using either the machine's hostname or IP address.
    In order to troubleshoot the issue, I tried to ping the remote machine after connecting via VPN and it fails. The name is resolving but ping fails with a "No route to host" and then "Host is down error." However, I know the host is up since when I connect via VPN from my PC I can ping the remote machine without a problem.
    Anyone have any ideas? Does the Cisco VPN client for Mac not work well? Is there some simple configuration setting I'm missing somewhere? BTW, I'm connecting to the Internet via WiFi and am using a Linksys WRT54G router.
    thx,
    ian

    Hello Ian:
    Welcome to Apple discussions (and to the wonderful world of Macs). I think you will find these forums represent the best on-line community anywhere - and everyone is a volunteer!
    I am no help with your problem as I have not used a Cisco VPN. However, in my previous business life I did connect my home Mac to my business VPN. I found that our IT people were most helpful in smoothing connection issues.
    This forum addresses connection issues if you want to post there:

  • How to configure HA between local controller and remote controller in DC

    Good day,
    If I have two Cisco 5508 Controllers, running Software version 7.4, how would my failover happen when the AP's run in local mode, and the local controller fail, and you configured your remote controller as your secondary controller.  Question is, will the APs automatically convert to FlexConnect mode when they failover to the remote controller in the DC?  I know you cannot configure HA as the controllers have to be connected with ethernet copper cable on the redundancy port, giving you a distance limitation of 100m.
    Thank you in advance
    Adrian

    Hello ,
    As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
    In wireless network deployments that run controller versions earlier than 5.0, when a controller goes down, it takes a long time for all the APs and the associated clients to move to a backup controller and for wireless service to resume.
    The features discussed in the document are implemented on the controller CLI in WLC software release 5.0 in order to decrease the time that it takes for access points and their associated clients to move to a backup controller and for wireless service to resume after a controller goes down:
    In order to reduce the controller failure detection time, you can configure the heartbeat interval between the controller and access point with a smaller timeout value.
    In addition to the option to configure primary, secondary, and tertiary controllers for a specific access point, you can now also configure primary and secondary backup controllers for a specific controller. If the local controller of the access point fails, it chooses an available controller from the backup controller list in this order:
    •o primary
    •o secondary
    •o tertiary
    •o primary backup
    •o secondary backup
    The access point maintains a list of backup controllers and periodically sends primary discovery requests to each entry on the list. You can now configure a primary discovery request timer in order to specify the amount of time that a controller has to respond to the discovery request of the access point before the access point assumes that the controller cannot be joined and waits for a discovery response from the next controller in the list.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Trying to write a basic EJB app w/ JPA and remote client

    I'm trying to put together a simple sample app that shows a simple stateless session bean that grabs a Java EE 5 entity from the DB and sends it to the remote caller. I have an entity class called Person that simply has getId() and getName() methods.
    I'm trying to get a reference to the session bean (using InitialContext.lookup()), which works. Then I try to call a method on that bean, which works as long as the type being returned is not a Person object. I've had the bean always return "Hello" and it works just fine.
    Here's the bean code.
    @Stateless(mappedName="RolodexSession")
    public class RolodexSessionBean implements RolodexSessionRemote {
        @PersistenceContext

            q.setParameter("n",name);
            List results = q.getResultList();
            if (results.isEmpty())
                return "emtpy";
            // this would work just fine...
            // return "Some string";
            // but this doesn't work at all
            return results.get(0);
    }Here's the client code...

        @EJB
        protected RolodexSessionRemote rolodexSession;
        /** Creates a new instance of Main */
        public Main() throws NamingException {

            rolodexSession = (RolodexSessionRemote)ctx.lookup("RolodexSession");
            Object result = rolodexSession.getPersonByName("John Smith");
            System.out.println(result);
         * @param args the command line arguments
        public static void main(String[] args) throws NamingException {
            Main m = new Main();
    }I made sure to put a Person object into my database with the name "John Smith".
    The error I keep getting is...

    Any ideas?

    I've narrowed down the issue. The Person object that I'm trying to send back has a one-to-many relationship with Address objects. I have this all setup correctly, I think. Here's the code from Person.java that establishes that relationship.
         * Holds value of property addresses.
        @OneToMany(mappedBy = "person")
        private List<Address> addresses;
         * Getter for property addresses.
         * @return Value of property addresses.
        public List<Address> getAddresses() {
            return this.addresses;
         * Setter for property addresses.
         * @param addresses New value of property addresses.
        public void setAddresses(List<Address> addresses) {
            this.addresses = addresses;
        }In Address.java I have the other side of the relationship defined (again, correctly, I think).
    IF I COMMENT OUT THIS RELATIONSHIP EVERYTHING WORKS! So, the problem seems to be related to using foreign key associations. Is there something I'm missing here? Perhaps it's related to lazy-loading of foreign keys?

  • WCF NetTcpBinding, remote client Established TCP Ports do not recycle

    In our application we have bunch of WCF services(NetTcpBinding) hosted under Windows Service, we have a remote client/clients which is connecting to this wcf service.
    When Network connection drop between client and Server, I am seeing that Established TCP Ports does NOT get recycled, When we get Network connectivity back and remote client app try to connect to the service again, we see new TCP Ports getting created again,
    but old TCP Ports still remain open, we have set ReliableSession to true and ReceiveTimeOut to 10 min on our WCF Service.
    Could anyone know here why this connection never gets recycled, what we have to do specific to have them cleanedup if remote client either crashes or network connection drops.

    You are probably closing the TCP connection simultaneously from both the client and server.  There is a design issue with TCP going back to the 1970's that has never been fixed.  When connections are closed from both ends at the same time sometimes
    ports are left open in a half open / half close state.  The correct method for closing TCP is as follows
    1)  From application level client send command to stop server
    2) Client closes connection
    3) Server uses the on closed event to dispose server objects so no memory leak occurs.

  • Site to Site and Remote Access VPN

    Hi All,
        Is it possible to configure Site to Site and Remote Access VPN on same interface of Cisco ASA 5505 ?

    A document exists where PIX/ASA maintains LAN-ti-LAN IPsec tunnel at two end points and there is overlapping networks at ther inside interface of both the asa. Probably, the basic configuration for both asa and IOS routers are nat config. So, this particular document might be useful for your requirement

  • Exchange Server 2013 and Remote Access VPN on a single server running Windows Server 2012?

    Just by way of background, I have been installing and administering network servers, e-mail systems, VPN servers, and the like for many years.  However, my involvement with Exchange and Windows Server has been mostly on the forensics and data recovery
    level, or as a (sophisticated) user.  I have never tried to deploy either from scratch before.  My deployment experiences have been mostly with Linux in recent years, and with small private or personal "servers" running such cutting edge
    software as Windows XP back when it was new.  And even NetWare once.
    When a client asked me if I could set up a server for his business, running Exchange Server (since they really want Outlook with all of its bells and whistles to work, particularly calendars) and providing VPN access for a shared file store, I figured it
    could not be too difficult given that its a small business, with only a few users, and nothing sophisticated in the way of requirements.  For reasons that don't bear explaining here, he was not willing to use a vendor hosting Exchange services or cloud
    storage.  There is no internal network behind the server; it is intended to be a stand-alone server, hanging off a static IP address on the Internet, providing the entirely mobile work-force of about 10 people with Exchange-hosted e-mail for their computers
    and phones, a secure file store, and not much else.  If Exchange didn't need it, I would not need to install Active Directory, for example.  We have no direct need for its services.
    So I did the research and it appears, more by implication than outright assertion, that I should be able to run Windows Server 2012 with Exchange Server 2013 on a server that also hosts Remote Access (VPN only) and does nothing else.  And it appears
    I ought to be able to do it without virtualizing any of it.  However, I have spent the last three or four days fighting one mysterious issue after another.  I had Remote Access VPN working and fairly stable very quickly (although it takes a very
    long time to become available after the server boots), and it has mostly remained reliable throughout although at times while installing Exchange it seems to have dropped out on me.  But I've always been able to get it back after scrounging through the
    logs to find out what is bothering it.  I have occasionally, for a few minutes at a time, had Exchange Server willing to do everything it should do (although not always everything at the same time).  At one point I even received a number of e-mails
    on my BlackBerry that had been sent to my test account on the Exchange Server, and was able to send an e-mail from my BlackBerry to an outside account.
    But then Exchange Server just stopped.  There are messages stuck in the queues, among other issues, but the Exchange Administration Center refuses now to display anything (after I enter my Administrator password, I just get a blank screen, whether on
    the server or remotely).
    So, I am trying to avoid bothering all of you any more than I have to, but let me just begin with the basic question posed in the title: Can I run Exchange Server (and therefore Active Directory and all of its components) and Remote Access (VPN only) on
    a single Windows Server 2012 server?  And if so, do I have to run virtual machines (which will require adding more memory to the server, since I did not plan for it when I purchased it)?  If it can be done, can anyone provide any pointers on what
    the pitfalls are that may be causing my problems?  I am happy to provide whatever additional information anyone might like to help figure it out.
    Thanks!

    An old thread but I ran into this issue and thought I share my solution since I ran into the same issue. Configuring VPN removes the HTTPS 443 binding on the Default Site in IIS for some strange reason; just go and editing the bindings, add HTTPS and things
    should be back to normal.

  • VPN and Remote Desktop Connection

    I have a standalone windows 2012 server that runs a domain with a few workstations. I have successfully configured a PPTP VPN and can connect using a Windows 7 computer at home. Once connected to the VPN, I can Remote Desktop to the server - but not any
    other computers. The computer I'm trying to connect to runs Windows 7 and has remote desktop connections enabled.
    Under the Access Details in the Remote Access Management the VPN connection is shown correctly first to the router (x.x.x.1) then the server (x.x.x.2) under Protocol 17 and Port 53. Then the server is shown again under Protocol 17 and Port 3389, which must
    be the Remote Desktop connection. And then the workstation on the domain (x.x.x.20) also shows a connection with Protocol 17 and Port 3389. However, the remote desktop connection fails everytime. I'm not sure where the issue exists since it appears the server
    is seeing and acknowledging the remote desktop connection. On my router I have PPTP passthrough enabled and port forward 3389 to the server.
    I have attempted to use the workstations internal IP address as well as the computer name (workstation and workstation.domain.local) when connecting.
    Thanks for your help.
    I just noticed these three event errors on the destination remote machine. Not sure why it's trying to use L2TP?
    Failed to apply IP Security on port VPN2-1 because of error: A certificate could not be found.  Connections that use the L2TP protocol over IPSec require the installation of a machine certificate, also known as a computer certificate..  No calls
    will be accepted to this port.
    A certificate could not be found. Connections that use the L2TP protocol over IPsec  require the installation of a machine certificate, also known as a computer  certificate. No L2TP calls will be accepted.
    The Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol service either could not read the SHA256 certificate hash from the registry or the data is invalid. To be valid, the SHA256 certificate hash must be of type REG_BINARY and 32 bytes in length. SSTP might not be able to
    retrieve the value from the registry due to some other system failure. The detailed error message is provided below. SSTP connections will not be accepted on this server. Correct the problem and try again.

    Morning Trent,
    I don't know if this is still an issue for you, did you get it solved?
    If not, check on the server whether the user credentials that you're using to RDP to the workstation are actually authorised server-side. If that checks out, on the VPN connection you can specify a protocol to use. Specify the protocol that your VPN is configured
    to use on the server.

  • Routing and Remote Access VPN DHCP error

    I have a strange problem.
    I have a client that is using Server 2012 Standard.
    On this server they have Routing and Remote Access configured for VPN client access. Their users that are working outside the office connect to the VPN to access the internal network.
    The VPN works fine for the most part. Recently however, it has started having issues.
    Periodically (about once every 8 days) I will hear from them that they cannot connect and that they get error 720. I will check the server and the server will have the following errors in the event log:
    Warning: No IP address is available to hand out to the dial-in client.
    If you check DHCP the server is running fine and will hand out local addresses but it will not hand out addresses to VPN clients. Also the addresses that it HAS previously handed out to VPN clients will not show in the address leases.
    The solution strangly enough is to disconnect and reconnect a the VPN client connection that the server has connecting it to a offsite server that it does a SQL sync with.
    Any ideas as to what might be causing this? If need be I can post more detailed logs but I am not sure what logs even to post or what data to collect.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I am experiencing the same issue on a Windows 2008R2 SP1 RAS server. The above statement About increasing the lease time on DHCP does not resolve the problem.
    I am also Searching for a Solutions to this issue.
    Up to now I have done the Following :
    1. Increased the scope/ cleared IP's in DHCP.
    2. Ensure that the DHCP server is accessable.
    3. Created a Manual Scope on RRAS configurations settings (then clients can connect but cannot access resources on the network). Changing Back to DHCP, you recieve the same 720 Error.
    4. Stop and started the DHCP services on the DHCP Server.
    5. Stop and Started RRAS Services on RRAS server.
    The Only Indication is, that DHCP for some reason does not lease out Addresses to the RRAS server..

  • Configuring host and remote trading partners

    Hi,
    Being new to B2B, I have a very basic doubt.
    I have two machines, one which I am using as the host trading partner and the other the remote trading partner. Would the steps involved in configuring the host trading partner be the same as the ones required to configure the remote trading partner?
    Currently at the host trading partner end, besides creating the Identifiers for the host trading partner, I am also
    1. creating the remote trading partner
    2.creating the identifiers for the remote trading partner
    3.assigning the documents to the remote trading partner and
    4.creating the delivery channel for the remote trading partner.
    I assume I would have to do a similar configuration at the remote trading partner end, before creating the agreements for the trading partners.
    Is there anything else that would need to be handled?
    It would be great if someone can share the stepwise instructions that would be needed to configure host and remote trading partner. I am using Oracle B2B 11g and have not worked with the previous versions of B2B.
    Any help in this direction will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Priya.

    Hi Priya,
    Steps are correct and you have to configure both the machines.
    You can refer B2B samples available as part of SOA Samples in below link:
