In some cases, it has been discovered that updates (from AppWorld obtained apps) require additional steps in order to install the update. If the update will not install, please attempt this:
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Applications > highlight the app > > Delete
AppWorld > MyWorld > Login > highlight the app (if it shows at all, in any state) > > Delete
Use either your PC (via Mass Storage Mode) or your BB (via Media > > Explore) and find any references (folders, files) to the app. Delete whatever you find. Search both your Device Memory as well as your Media Card.
Use the above AppWorld user guide link to re-install the app -- a new registration/activation key should then be provided
On the other hand, if you did not purchase via AppWorld, then you need to contact whatever place it was that you did purchase from.

Registration key vs. password?

I'm trying to install 10g from a Course Technology student CD. The installation wants a registration key, which the interface advises will be emailed to me upon registration. I've registered the software and received a numerical "password" -- that interface tells me the password is needed for the install. The install will not accept the "password" as a valid registration, and the registration screen will not email me a "registration key." Any ideas?

AFAIK, none of the Oracle software requires any form of software key to install. You need to contact the Course Vendor to find out what they are doing.
And, of course, you could easily download Oracle DB 10g from http://otn.oracle.com (look for the 'Download > Database' menu item) without any key or cost.

Download registration key fails

I have got the Oracle Database 10g CDs. When trying to install i have to get a registration key from Oracle. Clicking on the button "Click here to get your password" I have to log in and continuing I am directed to a site where I can choose between CD or DVD. Then I end in "Sorry this page was not found". It has been the same for some days now.
I really would like to install Oracle ;-)
What can I do?

T61p Client Security Solutions + Password Manager + Two Operating Systems

Greetings.
I am running both XP and VISTA on my T61p. I use the client security solutions password manager feature for websites and network shares. Since my model has the biometric scanner instead of entering the user ID and password I just swipe my finger. The issue is that when I first setup client security solutions it creates some system key that I assume is tied to the security chip hardware. Once I have it setup and working under one operating system it fails to authenticate me under the other operating system. It brings up a windows that says, "Verify Identity" / "reason for authentication: system key recovery" Why am I not able to use this feature under both operating systems?

I was using an older version of RnR, however, after the attempt to re-install, I upgraded to the latest version. It still errors out.
As to your second guess, I was hopefull this was the fix, I had forgotten to go through the registry. I deleted an empty CSS folder in the Common Files folder. And found several registry entries which have now been deleted. I don't believe I missed any. But unfortunately no luck. I cleared the chip again as well.
If it adds any clues, the system update was not working either. But the language fix posted on the forums resolved it. If I remember correctly the first time I tried to reinstall CSS it did ask a question/comment about language not matching. I could be wrong, however, there have been alot of attempts.
I spoke with tech support on the phone with the only suggestion being a clean restore of the laptop which I would like to avoid.

W520 - Lenovo Password Manager - Can .CSV or .DAT files be imported from other Password Managers?

The title says it all!
Currently using Norton Identity Safe's standalone password manager, but would like to start using Lenovo's instead. Attempted to import .DAT and/or .CSV files from Norton, but no option for these file types appeared in Lenovo's Password Manager.
If not an option to import directly, is it possible to add one of the files to the location Lenovo stores the password manger entries?

No you can't import .CSV or .DAT files into Password Manager. It uses a .PWM file format, and uses a 256-bit key Advanced
Encryption Standard (AES) with Microsoft CryptoAPI. You can export your info to be used in another machine with the Thinkvantage Password Manager installed, but not from another password manager.

Client Security - Password Manager reinstalling

Hello all,
       For an unknown reason, I have been experiencing this problem over and over. Whenever I restart my computer and open a new explorer window, windows installer pops up with CSS trying to install the password manager. No matter how many times i let it install, it occurs every time. In addition, I keep receiving the 3 Chrome Registration Failed messages when starting firefox because the program continues to try and install the Think Vantage password manager, even when I try to cancle it. Appreciate any help.

I experienced the same issue with IE 7 on Vista Ultimate SP1 after installing the packages referred to in Microsoft KB950124 and KB950125.
The following procedure worked for me:
1.       Run IE7 as Administrator.
2.       After completion of the CSS-Password Manager installation, restart the PC.

Change password manager pop up view

Is there any way to revert how the password manager pop-up window looks when it asks to save a password? I like the way firefox 3 handled it much better, as seen on this picture:

See how it makes a small bar like window on the top that is out of the way? Is there any way to revert to that? The current "pop-up" method is in the way, and aggravating.

In the current version you can close and reopen that pop-up at any time by clicking the key icon on the location bar.<br />
If you closed that bar in previous versions (or Firefox closed it) then there was no way to get it back.
You can't get the previous appearance back, so you will have to get used to it.

Rpass - Secure, simple, and pluggable command-line password management

rpass is a command-line password manager that encrypts any and all credentials you would like to store using gpg's algorithms.
Gnome and Mac OS both have a universal credential solution, but to my knowledge there is no such generic linux application. Gnome's keyring code is long and personally, I don't trust it as much as the simple system I have in place in rpass - it is transparent and easy to understand, and any possible security holes would be blatantly visible.
rpass can be used directly from the commandline, typing your master password (gpg passphrase) in every time, but it really shines when gpg-agent and xclip are installed. gpg-agent saves your passphrase for an interval of time, so you only have to authenticate yourself occaisonally, and the powerful search capabilities of rpass (regex-enabled) allow simple and quick account selection.
Furthermore, with xclip installed passwords NEVER have to be printed onscreen - the first matching entry's password is automatically copied to the clipboard if a search is done with rpass. You can even run rpass from applications like 'dmenu', and although there will be no visible output, if you enter a search term after rpass you will have the password you wanted copied to your clipboard.
Finally, it can also be easily integrated in other applications -- I use it for my email (mutt) and any script I write that requires a password.

I'm very interested in this. However... on the initial run, pressing enter causes a crash:

I got around this by entering junk and I made my key. After rerunning rpass with the key generated:

Looks like rpass expects the gpg-agent to be running when it starts.
edit: rather, it expects the gpg-agent to be running with the key loaded. gpg-agent was already loaded thanks to keychain but without my newly created key known to it.

Disable Sync Password and Secret Phrase input in Password Manager

Firefox Sync is the only extension I use that imports its credentials into Password Manager, Xmarks didn't do this before.
I am worried about remote security breaches such as those indicated at [http://bit.ly/axtm2V here]
I have used Keychain Services Integration add-on but it does not work for me as it imports my OS X iCal and Mail passwords into Firefox.
Albeit not a remedy, using a Master Password on the other hand results in a Sync error and the hassle of inputting the password each time I open Firefox, not to mention another password I have to remember.

I edit my laptop.zip file with a configuration_custom.properties in the \settings folder of the zip archive
the configuration_custom.properties has these key-value pairs
com.sap.tc.mobile.sync.passwordhandling=local
mobile.dbguser.name=user
mobile.dbguser.password=password
These settings skip the original login and the password sync - speeds up the development and testing for myself, so whenever I start simulator, no need for login and sync no need for password
I also include the autologonapplication property for my application, but that I do through an Agent so when assigned it auto logins and starts up application

BUG: ThinkVantage Password Manager and Word 2007 (possibly just on Windows 7)

With MS Support I have just been working though a problem with Microsoft Word 2007 on Windows 7 with Client Security Solutions 8.3 (which is Windows 7 compatible).
The problem is that in Word 2007 (and therefor emails in Outlook 2007) I cannot select text after pressing the Enter key for a new line.
After uninstalling/reinstalling office, removing printers, addins, templates, etc I have discovered that the problem goes away when I exit the Password Manager application.
I have tried adding winword.exe as an exception but that doesn't help. For now I have had to stop the Password Manager loading on startup.
Could Lenovo please advise with a fix for this issue.

Registration Key not available in Zenworks Adaptive Agent

No "registration key" is visible in Zenworks Adaptive Agent - Agent - Registration Keys.
The device is managed and imported in the correct folder on the server side and all assigned bundles and policies are applied and working. But i need a way to see which Registration Key a workstation is registered with, from within client. The keys is visible right after a new registration but if a new image is restored on the workstation everything is ok except the Registration Key. Any ideas ?

I have a BB Torch 9810 with DTG preinstalled. Trying to setup sync, but need activation code and registration key. Does anyone know where I can find this information?

It sounds like Documents to Go® Premium Edition was installed, which has a cost to use that version. I suggest removing Documents to Go by going to Options>Device>Application Management.

Password Manager-problems

I have serious problems with my password manager. I can't no longer get into it because it doesn't recognize my fingerprint or my windows password. And when I start the computer it says my windows passwords has been changed and I need to type them in to syncronise with Client Security Solution. BUT when I type it in to Password manager it doesn't recognize it. And if I try to use the fingerprint I registred it says no fingerprint has been registred - which isn't true. I have deleted and registred them several times.
And after a while (from 5 minutes to two hours) the computer stops working and I have to shut it down on the on-button and some of my works doesn't get saved so in reality I can't use my brand new computer (two weeks old) and have to use my old Sony...I don't know how to get around the problem?? I'm not very good at comupters but with instructions I can do a lot!
