Ascm file wont open

Hi
I have downloaded an ebook, have an acsm file and have downloaded digital editions. but when I double click on the ACSM file it says its fulfilling content, the one time, as I have tried it several times, it went through 8 steps but then nothing happens and the digital editions just freezes. I have removed and reinstalled the programe and downloaded the file again but the same problem. What could be wrong?

Thanks for you're help, it looks like its my external drive that was causing the hiccup. I have a 500 gb drive that was close to 90% full. I can access small files but not large files like video. I need to defragment my drive and delete some of the files from there that I don't need anymore.

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

As a happy user of the Matrox RT.X2 for many years, and later an equally happy user of a Matrox MXO2, I can say from experience that it is highly unlikely that this problem has anything to do with the Matrox hardware!
Can you open a new blank project, and save it?
If you cannot import your faulty project into a new project, can you import the sequence from your faulty project?
Have you tried clearing the Media Cache, clearing your preferences, etc. - all among the techniques used to resurrect a Premiere Pro project that has gone bad???

p.s. there's one more thing he can try. if he has a working swf, he can trying decompiling it to get a working fla or, even if that fails, he will be able to get a non-corrupt fla whose assets can be extracted.

Quicktime file wont open in keynote

hello,
I have a quicktime (olderversion) i need to give to a friend who has Tiger with quicktime 7 and keynote.
he wants to open the quicktime in keynote and use for a presentation.
anyone know why it wont open in keynote??/

Open the file (on your machine) using QuickTime Player. Open the Movie Info window and note the type of file format (.avi, .mpg etc.) and the sound and video codecs used.
If you find third party codecs (Divx etc.) the Keynote user will need those codecs before they can view the file. Once it can be displayed using QT Keynote should also be able to import the file.

Pages Crashed, now file wont open

I'm running Pages 2.0.2 on my G5 Dual 2.0 PPC, OS X 10.4.5

I was working on a 40-ish page document in Pages. I then duplicated the document on my hard drive and double clicked to open the duplicate. My plan was to scroll through the pages of the duplicate and update the page references in the index of the original document. I've done this before no problem.
On this occassion Pages quit. Now the original document wont open and I fear I've lost everything! The progress bar nearly gets to the end and it looks like the document is going to open, then I get a message saying that Pages has quit. Everytime I try it, same message.
I've repaired permissions - no joy. Also Pages works ok - all my other documents open no problem.
Any suggestions? - The files in the document package appear to be named correctly as far as I can tell. I'm desperate to get the data back.

Well it's taken me a whole day but I've got the entire text back...
and formatted once more...
and I've now ticked "back up previous version while saving" in the Pages
preferences.
~I think I may have been living in a bubble since I moved from a PC about two years ago....got out of the habit of backing things up.
OS X has only crashed once on me and everything has always just worked....
This has been a bit of a wakeup call. - I've had apps quitting -
Safari, Mail, DVD player, Final Cut Pro, Pages
but never had file corruption (in fact the last time was on my Vic 20 in the '80s!!) ...until now.

Project file wont open

Help.
I cant open my Premiere Pro project files. After renaming some of the source files now Premiere says 'file format not supported' when I try to open. The same computer and program generated these files. I know I have to relink the media but any ideas why it wont open the project files?

Are these MPEG, or VOB's? If so, this Adobe KB Article might help.

My raw files wont open in pse8 or dng 6.4, why not?

hi all,
I've got a sony 580 and I cant get my raw files to open in either pse 8 or dng 6.4.
I've updated the camera raw plug-in to 6.2.0.29, which i understand does not have support for the 580.
But the troubleshoot says to try dng instead which does list the 580 in its supported cameras.
any ideas why it wont work.
incidentally i find it very sharp practice for adobe to not support a major manufacturers raw files in a piece of software that's really not that old. (even if its not the mosr recent version of pse). I would not have purchased it if i knew i would have to upgrade every time i changed the camera body i'm using

the camera body and pse8 were purchased a couple of months apart, so not really intending to replace either anytime soon......
my issue with it not working is mainly frustration i guess.... having spent a lot of money on the camera i did hope that the industry leading photoediting software (albeit the cut-down version) would work with it without any problems. I'm very happy with pse's performance once i can actually open a file lol
When i go to the folder where i have the raw files stored and try to open with dng it doesn't show any files. (yes they are definitely in there, they can be seen fine in windows explorer, and picasa will quite happily open them)
the version of dng is 6.4.0.139
the source folder says ' no items match your search ' when i select it

adobe photoshop elements 11 wont open my raw files taken on my canon eos 70D. i have updated my soft ware and checked raw file , i have version 7.4.0.137.

The 70D requires the ACR 8.2 version, which can't be installed in PSE11.
Your choice :
- upgrade to PSE12, provided you are not on XP or Vista, then update the ACR module from 8.0 to 8.2 by using the help menu, update.
- use the free Adobe DNG converter to batch convert whole folders of raw files to the DNG format that PSE11 can read
- Use the Canon software to convert to tiff and edit in the PSE editor.

Itunes file wont open

so im trying to install itunes to my computer and when i enter my email adress to download it.the file doesnt open .i dont get it plizzz help .!!!!!!!!!

OK-
First, let's get your iTunes open.
Click on Start, Click on Run
Type msconfig
Click on the startup tab (last one on the right)
Click on "disable all"
Click apply, then click close
Go ahead and restart your computer when prompted to do so
When your computer starts back up, you should be able to open up your iTunes. When it opens, close it again. Now that we know it is able to open, it needs to be closed in order to resolve the file folder with exclamation point error.
Now, let's get that file folder issue resolved.
Click start, click all programs, click iPod, click iPod updater, click iPod updater (again)
Click OK when you see the dialogue that tells you what the application's capabilities are
Connect your iPod when it tells you to
Click on the "restore" button when it becomes available
IF the restore button does not become available, and if the iPod updater fails to recognize the iPod, disconnect it. Reset the iPod by (making sure the hold switch is off) pressing the menu button and the select button at the same time for about 10 seconds, until you get the Apple logo. As soon as you get the Apple logo, hold down the select button and the play/pause button together until you get a check mark on the screen. You may have to try this several times to get it to work... and sometimes it helps to lay the iPod down on a hard flat surface, like a table or your computer desk.
Once you get the iPod into disk mode, you can go ahead and try to restore it again. (Start > All Programs > iPod > iPod Updater > iPod Udpater) Click OK, Connect your iPod when it asks you to do so, and then click the restore button when it becomes available.

Migrated files wont open or error msg

I used migration asst to migrate files from Imac power pcG3 (OS 10.3.9 and classic 9.2.2 installed) to my new imac G5 intel. I selected " move files and folders only" but everything migrated. When i try to open old files, some open, others give msg " this file is locked or in use. Would you like to open a copy?". These are appleworks WP files. when i try to move any migrated file to the trash, i get msg "finder requires you to type your password".
I installed office:mac 2004 on new computer. since migration, it hangs up, cant close documents, have to force quit.
G5 intel Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Did you set the same username/password combo you used on the old iMac on the new iMac? If not, those belong to the old user, which should be available on the new machine, and not the new user, that's why you need to authenticate to trash them. Since you just got the new machine, you might consider restoring the new machine to the factory condition, using the same username/password combo on the old one, if you still have the old iMac, and using the Migration Assistant again.
As for the AW files, did you create them using the OS 9 version? Since the Intel-Macs can't run classic, you're probably out of luck opening them. If you still have the old iMac, you should open the AW files with the OS X version 6.2.8, convert them, and copy them over to the new machine. Then try to open them with the OS X version.

Idml file wont open

I can't get this file to open it says that there's a missing plug in .It was saved from cs6 as an idml file but now I can't get that to open. It doesn't say what plug in is missing either for me to try and figure it out? Any suggestions? I tried opening in CS3, cs5.5 cs6 and cs7 and got the same error.

did anyone resolve this issue?
I am using CC indesign and saving files to IDML.
When i try to reopen that file with CC indesign, the software freezes and pretty much crashes.
Opening it with CS6, there is no issues.
What doesnt make any sense is that when i am saving with CC, i assume i should be able to reopen it with CC.
but it does not allow me to do so.
Does anyone know the cause?
I can only find information of the opposite of what i am asking. So i assume i am the only one having this stupid issue.
I am unable to contact adobe myself, if someone could please help me resolve this issue!

Hi so my adobe illustrator just updated to CC 18.1 ( <- i think) and i went to open a file that I created 2 months ago and i get a pop up window that says illustration can not be opened. this in a new place of employment for me so i have been trying to figure out how the prior person had thing configured ect . Also this is my first time with the CC( use to use CS6) but there are 2 versions of illustrator on the Mac book pro and if i use the older version which is still cc the file opens . Can anyone please shed some light on this for me

It's too late now, if you want to use the iPhone, you need to restore.
It's very Important to backup iif you have important stuff you want to keep, do it more often, especially a IOS updates.

Numbers file wont open. please help asap!

I've been workin on a Numbers file for some days and have always safed it at the end of the day. Today i wanted to open it but i keep on getting this error that it can not be opened. Does anybody know a quick solution to it?

Not enough information to hazard a guess.
What is the error message that is displayed?
What version of the Mac OS is running on yout MBP? If you have updated to this version from an earlier version, how was that update done?
What version of Numbers '09 are you using?
All of these may be factors in solving the issue.
A quick solution would be to open your most recent backup copy of this file and rebuild from that. This solution, of course requires that you have a recent backup copy available, something that is, I suspect, not true for the majority of us on the first occasion that we need one.

Keynote file wont open error... What can I do to fix the file

Okay, I have a situation in which I was working on an existing Keynote presentation file, one that I've used over and over. I had made about 8 hours of changes. I saved throughout my work all the way up to doing a final walk through of the presentation. I had finished all my edits, transitions, etc., saved it one last time and launched the presentation from the beginning. I rehearsed for another hour or so with everything working just lovely. Once done, I saved yet again and closed the file. I left my machine running... sleep mode was the state i thought it was in this morning when I was leaving for the office. I closed my MacBook lid, as I always do, put it in my bag, and went off the the office. When I got to the office, I pulled out a very hot MacBook, seemed a bit strange at the time... I then docked it and expected it to wake up. Well, it didn't so I just tapped once on the power button (not holding down) and it chimed as if it was restarting, which it did.
Okay, So I thought, humm that is strange... Then I noticed that my trash had items in it... that was strange too because one of the items that was there was the folder I had stored my presentation in the night before. Glad I looked, I grabbed it and put it on my desktop. I opened Keynote and when to open a recent file, it saw the presentation I wanted, but got to about 70% and said it couldn't open the file. How it got into the trash can I'll never know! I've been using Mac since Hitler was a corporal and know how to work with and move files around and Mac use in general. This issue seems familiar to the earlier versions of Keynote... that corrupt thing happened all the time in the first version.
Anyway, if there is anyone out there that is familiar with editing the (index.apxl) file, the xml file that is... I would sincerely appreciate your help! All the graphics are in the package and the package structure seems correct, it's just that xml file has something it doesn't like in it.

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)
Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:

(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
