ASCP Server time change

Hello,
The current server time for global ASCP implementation is US-eastern time. We would like to change it to India time (IST), so the plans can be launched earlier and as the next day starts earlier.
Any ideas are appreciated.

Sash

My database server takes time from my DC server and I wont to roll the clock backwards on DC server.
Thanks! The schedulers will be affected. I mean by the schedulers; Oracle defined schedulers (maintenance window, etc...) and user defined schedulers.

  • Change server time in Standby Database or primary database in Dataguard

    Hi all,
I configuration dataguard for 2 site. But after finishing, I saw the time not synchronize. I want to change time setting in standby server but I don't sure Dataguard configuration will still running normally.
Please explain for me about synchronizing time in Dataguard. And if you know the way to change time setting server, please tell me that way.
    THanks so much!

    Hello;
It should be at the OS level. On Linux I use cron to sync time with a central server. Once the time changes at the OS level and the database stops and starts it will use that time.
Will post an example here in a moment
So I use "ntpdate" on Linux to do this. Some similar exists for Windows.

  • Re-start Oracle 10g DB is required if server time is changed?

I had a doubt that will a re-start of Oracle 10g DB be required if there is a change in server time? Our Server OS is RHEL 4.0(Linux). The server time is probably behind the time by 15 mins.
I hope, my question is clear.
Please, help in solving the doubt.
    regards

Even though it is not required to stop/start the database when the OS time is changed, based on personal experience, I would highly recommend that you stop the applications and database before changing the OS time. We had Linux admin change the time once and mistakenly had the value for the year in the date out one year in the future. They caught the mistake quickly and reset to the to the proper date and time but the damage was already done. The time you spend fixing all jobs, especially if running Oracle applications where alerts and processes fire off thinking it is past time to run, is much less pain than scheduling a downtime for the time change and verifying the date/time befort starting things up again. It may be low risk and it up to you but it isn't fun trying to explain to the user community and management the reason that something like this happened.

  • How to change server time?

Can some one guide me how to change the server time in Solaris 10.
Actually i need to advance the server time to 15 mins.
    thanks!

Take a glance through the man pages for date.
It's been a couple of years since I last used it,
but when I did, it was for the express purposes
of changing the system date to a specific time.
It was on an old SB100 with an unpatched OBP.
Their system clocks would wander all over the place
until the problem got fixed with an OBP update.
If I recall, the command syntax I used was something like ...
    # date HHmm.ss <enter>
For example -- "date 1832.50" would be for 18:32:50 o'clock of the system's current day and timezone.
... then I used the simpler date command syntax to check up on the results.
    # date <enter>

  • IdM Scheduler and Time Change to Daylight Savings Time GMT to BST

This isn't really a 'question' , but just a topic for discussion.
We're not live yet, but will be by the time the clocks go back. So I'm just interest to hear everyone's experiences and any issues with regards to the switching to / from DST
I did some "interesting" (or not) tests last night to see what happens with Pending Values which are due to take effect at the time change threshold of 01:00 GMT when switching to Daylight Savings Time (BST) GMT +0100.
It seems as if the IdM scheduler keeps going according to UTC or GMT. However any values provisioned to target systems or to local tables using the ddm.datetime8601 system variable are in local time according to the runtime server or SQL server's locale settings.
I set up a task to output from a javascript the current system date
using the following in the functions.
    currentTime = new Date();
return currentTime.toString(); // returns Locale Time String
    currentTime = new Date();
return currentTime.toUTCString(); // returns UTC Time String
in the same pass I also output the ddm.datetime8601 system parameter and the ddm.time24 system parameter.
This task was to update a comment on an entry and Scheduled to run at 00:00:00 and was executed at 00:00:06 GMT all times were still in GMT as expected.
    Local Time: Sun Mar 27 00:00:06 GMT-0000 (GMT) 2011, UTC Time: Sun, 27 Mar 2011 00:00:06 GMT, ddm.datetime8601: 2011-03-27T00:00:06, ddm.time24: 00:00:06
This task was scheduled at 01:00:00 in IdM and was exectued at 01:00:08 GMT by the runtime, and you can see the local time is being correctly reported as 02:00:08 BST. Note also the ddmdatetime8061 is also 02:00:08 i.e. BST.
    Local Time: Sun Mar 27 02:00:08 GMT+0100 (BST) 2011, UTC Time: Sun, 27 Mar 2011 01:00:08 GMT, ddm.datetime8601: 2011-03-27T02:00:08, ddm.time24: 02:00:08
In the database the entry values MXI_VALUES ModifyTime field has the GMT / UTC timestamp.
I also set up some pending value objects to be applied at 00:59:59 and 01:30:00 to see if the 01:30:00 would be 'skipped' as the locl clock change would've gone from 00:59:59 to 02:00:00. Well the pending values were correctly applied and expired and no 'lost' transactions happened as a result of the change.
So essentially it seems to me that the IdM runtime and scheduler times are all based on UTC / GMT.
I guess it's only an issue twice a year if you're expecting something to happen at a specific local time 01:00:00 or if you've got a global user base and their account expiry should be in each user's own country's local time. In these cases, it would seem that you'd need to convert the schedule times and pending value times to UTC first before setting them in the database.
Has anyone else had any issues, thoughts, questions or suggestioins on scheduling tasks which span the DST time change when switching to and from Daylight Savings Time.

  • Connection to server times out

Hi, I know I've seen somewhere that you can set how long before your connection to your remote server times out in DW. After a few minutes of editing files, and then when I go to upload them to my host, It takes forever just to make a connection. I used CS3 for a while, then upgraded to CS5. CS3 didnt seem to have this issue.
Another issue I seem to have is when I DO put files to my remote, sometimes the files dont seem to reflect changes I made. For instance, I added an id attribute to a firm field, uploaded my file to the remote, hard refreshed my browser viewing the same page and viewed source. The form field id was not there! So I clicked the expand local and remote files button and pulled the file over to the remote manually!
Maybe these are issues with my hosting company? Anything I can do to ensure my remote connection stays connected, at least for an extended period of time if not indefinately. Thanks in advance!

Hi Nancy, thats for the tips and info. I've tried most of what you suggested. One thing I never thought about though was toggling passive mode on and off. For some reason I just always assumed this should be on by default. So I will try that and see how it goes over the next day or so.
Also the FTP optimize performance was checked. Seems like I had an issue with this a while back, so I unchecked it as well.
Now the other issue of why updated files arent showing up on my remote. Yes I always use ctrl+F5 to refresh my browser. Again, this morning when I did that very thing, and then viewed source, the updated code was not there. The code I am referring to was about 20 lines of javascript that was showing in dw code view, but not in ff source view. So not sure about that one. As you said its possibly my host provider. Thanks again!

  • My server time is 1/2 hr slow

How to rectify this problem, how change any note on this.

Without knowing the REASON why the system is slow it´s impossible to give a suggestion.
Check SM50/SM66 when this occurs, check if a backup (or the like) is running, check ST02 also. You see anything that is "not normal"?

  • Server time one hour behind

Running CF 7 on a Fedora Core Linux system that has the
system level time zone updates applied. A shell command of 'date'
returns the correct date and time.
However, we have some CF services and webpages that rely on
    times and
#timeFormat(now(), "short")# returns the time one hour
    behind.
I'm sure it has something to do with the new daylight savings
time changes ... but as I mentioned above, I have those applied to
the server and they are working correctly. Is there something that
needs to be patched to the CF server?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated - thank you.
    Alan

Believe I found the issue .. this tech note indicates that
the JVM needs to be updated for CF to get the correct daylight

  • CF MX and Daylight Savings Time Change

Next year 2007, the Daylight Saving day (chaning the clocks
for spring and fall) will be changing. The Spring date will be a
month earlier and the fall date a month later then it has been for
    years.
How will the Cold Fusion Server for MX 7+ handle this? Will
it use the server time or use the internal CF Server clock?
    Thanks.

My problem is that now CFMX 6.1 thinks that it is 8 hours
    later in the day
than it really is (it is stuck on GMT now) and I am unable to
    get CFMX to
acknowledge the operating systems clock. :-(

    The technote for this issue:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=d2ab4470
    has
    another
link to a technote which addresses null pointer exceptions
    after upgrading
    the
    JVM on CFMX 6.1 systems:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=kb400232
    The hotfix
described in that technote gives a fix for CFLDAP and
    CFSERVLET tags after
    the
    new JVM is installed.
The important thing to note is that Adobe feels that
    daylight savings time
will indeed present a problem for ColdFusion applications.
    Unfortunately,
    the
problems are not explained in any detail. I can guess that
    functions like
DateDiff( ) may calculate incorrect values when spanning the
    changed weeks
    of
daylight savings time. As others have suggested; however,
    simply retrieving
the system time, i.e. Now( ) function may not be affected as
    long as the
operating system clock is set correctly.
    Hope that helps.
