Hi SAP ASE experts,
I have two ASE Companion Servers in a simetric configuration, I need to configure the sybsecurity database for this environment but I don´t know wich kinds of considerations to have, for example:
Is necessary to configure sybsecurity at each ASE server?
Sybsecurity configuration must be the same ?
Is there any procedure for failover of sybsecurity db ?

Setting up the Apache HTTP Plugin for several BEA Servers

Hey together,
i would like to setup the apache http plugin for several bea-servers.
I am running apache 1.x on my hp-ux system. There are 2 bea-server-domains on this box and both should be proxied by the plugin simultaneously.
As far as i know it isn't possible to run 2 or more instances of the apache webserver. I heard of virtualhosts, maybe i should try this one out.
Somebody knows how to deal with this problem or does any1 know if virtualhosts could cope with my needs?

Ok here i am again and i'm stuck. Here my wishes again:
there are 2 weblogic-instances (domains) running on a machine xxx, instance A listening on port 8041, instance B listening on port 8051. I want to configure apache virtualhosts in combination with weblogic plugins, so that request with /ld will be sent to instance A while requests with /ldd will be sent to instance B. Both are no clusters. Therefore i tried it with the following configuration (httpd.conf):

How to configure time synchronization for two NTP servers

We have IOSXR 4.2.1 on routers CRS3 and ASR9K with all recomended SMUs; we need to configure the time synchronization for two NTP servers with the configuration below, but the routers became unstable; synchronize with one NTP servers for some time, then switch to other NTP server, and keep doing this. Anyone know why this behavior?

Hi Claudio, that ddts is pretty generic to be honest but yes it is filed to address sync issues in the XR NTP algo.
The thing is that XR ntp clock selection is a bit different then iOS and follows the specs very closely which results in this erroneous loss behavior.
For instance, you could also see this issue with a sync loss if the update time is only 500msec off what it was before and that will result in a ntp sync loss rather then adjusting to it.
Also I wanted to mention that the ntp prefer is a bit of a misnomer in XR (since it follows the specs differently then IOS) and this knob was taken over from IOS really.
You might get some joy if you set it to one server only and see if that helps?

I would like to create it in a way that it will be common for all the servers - but as a view. not the real table, only a view to see the data and not to change it.

Now, coming to the problem if the respective user which you are accessing is stored the table in "OBITUARIESCS" tablespace, then the table will not be there in "ADVERTISEMENTCS" tablespace. At user level he can access the data from both the tablespaces.
As you said above that one process should access "ADVERTISEMENTCS" and view from "OBITUARIESCS".
If you the application user is having the rights on the "ADVERTISEMENTCS" then he can not access the "OBITUARIESCS" which might belongs to different users schema. For that try to Grant the privileges on that certain table to required users which your application is using. That's solves your problem based on my understanding with your question.

How to customize search in WS 7 and for multiple virtual servers?

I'm not clear on how to customize search results pages in Sun Web Server 7. The documentation (the Adminstrator's Guide, page 215) says:
You can take a look at the default search application located at /bin/https/webapps/search as a sample application
but I'm not seeing any such thing. I did a find . -name search -type d from the server root and instance root but the only search directories I'm seeing are subdirectories within the generated directory and they look like system generated jsps that I shouldn't touch (So I didn't :-)
So one question is, where is the default app? A second question is, how do we set up different branding for different virtual servers?
We're currently using WS 6.1 and it has a field in the GUI for the directory containing the web app to use for search. That seems to have disappeared in WS 7.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't use the search engine, so I'm afriad I don't have direct experience here.
What I'd probably do is modify the app so that it looks at the Host data to determine which directory it should point to for graphics, formatting, etc. You could also use the obj.conf with variables to pull graphics from directories appropriately branded. Something like:
1) Create "additional doc directory" for images
2) Find the entry in the obj.conf that points to the new directory
3) Modify the path to something like /path/to/$host/images
4) Make sure you create directories like:
/path/to/foobar.com/images/
/path/to/www.foobar.com/images/
/path/to/baz.com/images/
/path/to/www.baz.com/images/

How do I identify the latest file modifications, application install, and registry key modification for Security Forensics.... using GP Audit for registry/file system

Title pretty much states it all. I initially set out (as part of a Security Forensics initiative) to identify the most recently installed applications, modified files, and registry key changes using PowerShell. I attempted to pull this information and sort
them by date installed/last modified, but it was brought to my attention this information isn't always present and can be modified - so it's not accurate.
At that time it was suggested we use Group Policy auditing for Registry and File System - but I'm not sure how I'm going to use/pull these in PowerShell? This will be used on remote host all over the world so local physical access isn't an option.
My question is:
Once Group Policy Auditing for Registry and File System has been enabled, how would I go about pulling those audit logs for review once a system has been identified as compromised? I'm brand new to this GP Auditing (we have a separate team for that) so feel
free to take it from the beginning. :)

Ensure Remote Registry service is started on local and remote machines.

A certain set of services are monitored by default on all agents:
DNS Client
DHCP Client
RPC
Workstation
Server
For all the other services you could create a service monitor.

Oracle Auditing for Insert/delete in a Table

I have a Master table for which records are added manually using the Insert command and not by any front end tools.
I have no Auditing for this table , like when an insert/delete is made in to this table.
Does oracle provides any other Tables/views like v$session to find out when such events happens.

Probably not.
If your database is in ARCHIVELOG mode and you have the archived logs from the point in time that the DML happened, you could potentially use LogMiner to read the redo logs and get information about when the DML happened and who was responsible. That tends, however, to be a relatively painful manual process that is frequently complicated by the fact that most shops get rid of archived logs as soon as they are no longer necessary for database recovery which is frequently a matter of days or weeks.

I just downloaded Audition for Mac - and was surprised that it's free!
And when the public beta trial ends - do you lose all your sessions? are you given first dibs for upgrading to the new paid-for software?
One last one - What can't you do on this version that you can do on Audition 3.0 for Windows?

When the public beta ends, you have to purchase a copy of the release version. You will find that the beta version suddenly won't work any more... and I would imagine that you'll get the same purchase options as everybody else. As for session loss - well you won't lose them if you purchase the software; they'll still open fine.

That's a much more complicated question to answer - simply because we haven't made a definitive list yet, and for non-disclosure reasons I can't say anything more than Adobe has already made public. The one thing that's hacking off a lot of AA3.0 users at present is that it is confirmed that the new version won't write CDs directly, though. Also it's a matter of public knowledge that there will be no MIDI sequencing capability either, but personally I'd have that as a gain, not a loss! For a lot of Mac users though, none of this will be an issue because they never had it in the first place; therefore they can hardly miss it...

CSS 11000 series with load balancing for high availablity servers

Hi,
We have arrived at a designed,which has 2 PIX firewall(525)in a fault tolerant mode.Two interfaces from each of the PIX is connected directly to two css1000 switch which works in a fault tolerant mode.
other Two interface from each of the two css11000 switch is connected directly to two catalys 4003 switches to which we have Servers attached.
Pls let me know whether this design will work or If you could suggest some other design for high availablity servers which are kept at the DMZ.
Pls note in our design the internet user first hit the frewall and then the CSS11000 and then catalys 4003 and finally the Servers.

Are the PIXes to be setup in a failover bundle?
If you use two interfaces in each PIX to connect
to the two CSS systems, are you not complicating the
setup? Which of the two should be called the inside?
I cannot recall whether you can have two inside legs at the current PIX level.

Configuring sticky cookie in CSS-11500 for BEA Weblogic servers

I'm configuring a couple of CSS11503 to load balance traffic for Weblogic web servers. I'm trying to apply persintence based on cookies. By default, Weblogic server generates cookies with the following format:
JSESSIONID=sessionid!primary_server_id
where "JSESSIONID" is the prefix, "sessionid" is the string generated for the session ( 52 bytes long - fixed - ), "!" is a delimiter character and "primary_server_id" identifies the server generating the cookie ( 10 bytes long - fixed -).
Has anybody faced a configuration scenario involving these elements ( CSS and weblogic )? If so, how should I configure my CSS11500 to stick clients based on cookies? How can I know the primary_server_id? I'm particularly interested in the string commands I need to configure.

To match on the primary_server_id, your string commands would need to look something like this:
string prefix "JSESSIONID="
string skip-length 53
string process-length 10
The primary_server_id would need to be configured with the 'string' command for each service.

NT startup parmaters for multiple weblogic servers started as a service

I have the need to start multiple weblogic servers, using NT services.
I have created a second folder with a properties file listening on another
port.
I am using the following startup parameter
-J-Dweblogic.system.name=Test
My question, this works when I type the startup parameter, is their anyway
to have this automatically entered
on server startup.
Is their a registry setting to make this permanent

- Use a product to turn applications into an NT Service (e.g.
ServiceMill)
- Directly run the Weblogic Server Java class via that application
--> As many WLs on one machine as you like.

is good for that startup of the weblogic server,
The next time the server reboots and the services start, unless you
re-enter the startup parameter -J-Dweblogic.system.name=Foldername
The weblogic server starts using the wrong properties file.
Is their anyway using NT services to have the correct instance of WL
to start everytime.
I have checked this newsgroup and this question has been posted
before, but so far no one seems to have the answer.
I know in a production eniviorment someone must be running more that
one instance of a WL server as a service, Hopefully their is an
answer on how this is done.
