Asha 302 doesn't want to use WiFi

So I'm a user of Nokia Asha 302 and though I generally love the phone, one problem just gives me nightmares.
Namely, I can't do almost anything requiring WiFi. The only thing that works is the stock browser - if I want to use the built-in email client, it gives me "connection error, please try again later" prompt. If i want to install opera - same thing, I can download the package from the Ovi Store but as soon as installation starts, it requires my GPRS connection rather than the WiF that it's connected to and which is working.
I have WiFi set as defaut and always select it as the desired connection method when asked to but it just doesn't work. How can I force the phone to use WiFi for such tasks and not my packets which I have to pay for?
I googled my head off and found absolutely nothing. The onky method I found involved adding some custom configs like "my web" and such and even though I followed the instructions, it hadn't helped a bit.
Could someone please tell me how to fix it?

Hello,
Setting the mobile APN manually might help so that the phone will use WiFi when available. Please check these links for the steps required:

Hi - you might want to post this question on the Apple TV area - you would probably get a quicker response - if you have a specific question relating to Apple routers then post back here

    1. HP LaserJet 600 M601
    2. Windows XP 32-bit
    3. Tries to print to different trays than envelope feeder when envelope jobs are sent to printer, eventually the envelope feeder shows up on the display and user can choose it to print.  Then prints OK.
    4. New printer.
    5. HP LaserJet 600 M601 doesn't want to use envelope feeder:
Driver is configured with correct trays and printer with paper types.
User send a print job with paper size as Envelope #10 to printer, printer prompts for envelopes to be loaded in different trays, after Tray 2, and after Tray 1 then asks user to use the Envelope Feeder, instead of the just immediately printing to the envelope Feeder.
    Tray configuration:
    Envelope Feeder:  Envelope #10, Envelope
    Tray 1:  Legal,  Plain
    Tray 2:  Letter, Any Type
    Tray 3:  Letter, Letterhead
    Hp LaserJet 600 M601 M603 PCL 6 driver version 61.114.1.10295
    Firmware:  2131305_192069

Just got off the phone with HP on the very same issue using a 602dn printer.  What ended up fixing my problem was downloading the HP Universal Print Driver ( www.hp.com/go/upd ).  You'll want the PS driver, not the PCL6 one.  When you exctract it, update your driver to the v5.4 driver.  I don't know why that would have fixed it, but it did.  Let me know if it works for you.

No you don't need to use AirPlay from the computer to AppleTV.
Just use the AppleTV as you would with wifi. Everything is controlled from the AppleTV.

  • Doesn't want to retain WiFi settings

I turn of my TC SSID broadcast.  All of my computers, iPhones, iPads, printers, etc seem to be able to stay connected indefinitely and after reboots.  My wife's MB (late 2008 model) doesn't seem to want to retain the network name, and periodically has to be refreshed.  Is there some file tha may need to be deleted?

  • Ethernet doesn't work after using wifi

I was given a second hand computer (macbook pro 17'', 2 years old) by my boyfriend. I formatted the HD and installed mountain lion. I used the network settings facility to create a new location to use the ethernet at my university and it all works fine, except that when I unplug the cable and use wifi for a bit, when I try to reconnect to the ethernet by plugging the cable back in it won't work (even when I turn wifi off). I used to do this with my old computer (macbook pro 15'', 3 years old) without any issues.
I tried using the "Assist me" option in the network settings and I see that the first three checks (Ethernet, Network Settings and ISP) are green, but the last two (Internet and Server) are red. So my internet doesn't work. If I go through the "diagnostics" it asks me to restart the internet devices, which I don't have access to. I then restart my computer and it works perfectly.
I don't want to have to restart my computer every time I plug the ethernet cable back in. I need to do this a few times in a day because the proxy of the university blocks some things, so I use my wifi for those (eg, updating the packages in R).
Does anyone know what the problem is?

Back up all data before making any changes.
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Reboot and test.

  • I don't have a data plan.  Can I buy a used smartphone and transfer my current plan to it?  I only want to use WIFI.

Looking at getting a used iPhone so I can use it in WIFI spots but I don't want to pay for data.  Wondering if I can do it without it costing me anything.

there is many ways you can do this . but as Tidbits stated ,, if you were to switch from what ever phone you are using to a smart phone like the iPhone.. you will be paying for the phone service.. and additional amount because it is a smartphone.. then there is a data plan... so .. it will have all the features you are looking at using the phone to obtain the services from a wifi or hot spot.. .. than the USED iphone you are referring to MUST be one that belong to Verizon ( the last time I look you can only program a phone,,new or used that was originally theirs)... have you considered looking into getting a USB modem?? they are listed above under your acct My Verizon..SHOP... PHONE & DEVICES .... INTERNET ... .. unfortunately.. all smartphones that are activated will be programmed with all features ..at least with Verizon.. and most of the larger carriers..
hope that helps with any additional questions.. you may have.. if not ..let us know and we will make sure..all is covered for you ..

  • Want to use NO data, but Wifi?

Hi, new owner of the Curve 9300/3G, running OS 6.
I am currently on a voice/text plan, but have Data available (although I will get charged ridiculously on it).
So I want to use NO data, by all means. But I want to use Wifi when I'm at home.
I've read online that Wifi won't work if Data Services are off. Okay, so if I turn Data services ON, I can successfully use Wifi (facebook, email, youtube, etc.). Good. But now, when I take my phone outside, is it going to update my facebook, youtube, email, other apps, etc. by Data/3G? --> This is what I don't want, and what I am afraid of. This is why I haven't even begun using Wifi yet, because of the fear of the Data kicking in to update my apps while I am not on Wifi.
So, is there any way to keep data/3G off for good, and have no data charges? Is the only solution to not use wifi at all, and strictly use the phone for calling/texting?
    Thanks!!

    OnlySkillz wrote:
Ok so I think I found the solution..tell me if this is correct:
When I want to use WIFI, I just enable Data services, and use my WIFI.
When I'm outside without WIFI, I just have to set Data services to OFF before I leave, so that it doesn't update any apps for me while I'm on the go.
    Is this correct? Thanks.
Yes this is correct, you'll have to turn off your data services before leaving the house or your facebook, email, msn ect will still update.

  • IPhone OS 3 doesn't want me to login to WiFi hotspots anymore (autologin)

    Hi all,
After upgrading to iPhone OS 3, login to my WiFi hotspots doesn't work anymore.
Any help would be much appreciated as this renders my WiFi useless...
    What happens is:
As soon as I try to connect to a hotspot, iPhone OS 3 pops up a web form to type in username and password.
However, most of the hotspots I use do not have the fields for entering this directly on the login page - but first some links to click on (to decided whether to use WiFi on pay-per-use, pre-paid, customer account basis etc.).
When I tap on one of these links, the page is meant to open a new browser window (pop-up).
However, iPhone OS 3's login page seems to disable that.
When I tap and hold such a link, it asks whether to open JavaScript, if I click on yes - nothing happens yet again.
If I click on cancel, OS 3 assumes I just don't want to use WiFi anymore and will disassociate itself from that particular hotspot.
Stupid! I can't open Safari and log into the hotspot as before (it worked perfectly with the older OS version).
Is there any workaround? Or does OS 3 really render so many hotspots useless?
Many thanks in advance for any info!
    Kind regards,
    Frank

    Hello there, mbrda92.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great, in-depth steps for troubleshooting your issue:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Particularly of note:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Upgraded primary line, phone not connected yet, want to use phone on 2nd line instead

I renewed my primary line (new every 2) and received a Convoy today. My husband doesn't want to use this phone and wants to stick with the Boulder which is the current phone on the primary line. How can I activate the new phone for my secondary line (which is on a month to month basis ie no contract basis, but not a prepaid phone)? A Verizon support person told me I could do this if we didn't want to use the Convoy on the primary line. I hope she was right.
    Thanks!

She would have been correct. If you dial 1-877-807-4646, punch in your husband's number when it requests it (it may request the account's password/last 4 of SSN as well). There will be an automated system that will ask you to accept the Terms & Conditions for the upgrade that was done on your husband's line. Note: this will extend the contract on your husband's line by 2 yrs which is a result of you getting the new phone at discounted pricing, but it will not effect your line's contract at all. Once you say you agree (by pressing option 1) it will ask if you would like to activate this device on your husband's line now. You're going to choose the option to do it later meaning you will not be activating it on your husband's line. Once it confirms your selection, you will hang up.
Before you activate the phone on your line, make sure your contacts are backed up from your previous phone so you can transfer them to the new one. Backup Assistant, a free app offered by BUA, will be excellent for this purpose. Once everything is backed up, you will first want to turn off your old phone and then dial *228 from the new phone (choose option 1). When it asks for you to input a number, you want to enter yours and then it will ask you to enter the account's password/last 4 of SSN. Afterwards it will activate the new phone on your line. You would just need to re-download BUA and follow the prompts to transfer the contacts. Then you'll be all set!

More information about the application and the rollout can be found from here.
Note: Mail For Exchange for Asha 302 & 303 requires the following phone software version: (Dial *#0000# in the device standby screen to check the current SW version of your mobile):
Asha 302: Software version 14.53 or higher
Asha 303: Software version 14.60 or higher
You can easily update your phone to a compatible software version by using Nokia Suite. The mentioned software releases are not currently available as Over-The-Air (OTA) updates yet. If you need help with how to update your phone, you can find instructions here.

    Unfortunately no.
I the past I managed to install the app on several Asha 302 with no problem,
I used Nokia suite 3.8.48 connected with a Asha 302 phone.
Now, when I searched for Mail for Exchange app the Nokia suite didn't show me the app.
I think that now i am in the wrong country :-)
( maybe that regional exceptions apply)
Finaly I finded a solution : I made a backup from another Asha 302 with app installed on it in the past and I made a restore only with phone settings and applications.
