Asha 303 Contacts

I've just got my Asha 303 after using the C-6
One of the things liked about the C-6 was that I could type on the home screen my contact's first or last name or their company etc and my contacts would be searched.
This does not seem to be the case with the 303.
From within contacts I cannot search by first name if I have last names first and so on
Is there a setting to allow my contacts or "Names" to be fully searchable?

Welcome to Nokia Discussions.
'Names' is set by default in the right bottom corner of your home screen. By pressing on Names you can open the contacts list, press on search to open the search bar.
It's not possbile to search for the entire contact's name. If your contacts are displayed in a 'last name - first name' format the phone will search on last names, if the contacts are displayed as 'first name - last name', the phone will search on first names.
If you'd like the phone to search for first names when you use the search option, please go to Menu>Contacts>Settings>Name display>First name first. This way you can search on first name and select the contact you're looking for after that in case you have multiple contacts with the same first name.

If it says like PUK disabled or card blocked then you need to change your sim card with same old number from your service provider.

NOKIA E-MAIL NOT WORKING ON NOKIA ASHA 303

So, I had my Nokia Asha 303 working perfectly with no bugs, no lag and good internet speed until I got this message asking me if I wanted to update my cellphone software to the v14.53. I accepted and left my phone on, with full battery, on a stable wifi connection without even touching it while the firmware was updating.
So far, so good. After it installed, all features of my phone kept working but the E-mail tool that came with the phone. The advantage of this tool for me is that I could just open a picture menu in the phone and click on "send" and the "e-mail" option would be just there. After I did this firmware update, not only my picture´s menu stopped showing the "e-mail" option on the "send" section, but I couldn´t even open the E-mail tool anymore. I would click to open it, and it just wouldn´t respond. Not even a error message.
I tried solving the problem by doing a hard format of the cellphone... making it go back to it´s factory´s configurations. It didn´t work.
I bough a data-transfer USB cable and tried to solve the problem with the Nokia Suite... all I could do was update the firmware to a newer version v14.60. But even that didn´t work. I tried to reinstall it... still... nothing.
Now... I have the feeling that, for some reason, the first firmware update I did deleted or corrupted the E-mail tool, making it impossible to restore it´s feature. Is there any way I could download the feature? Is there any other way to fix it?
I tried contacting Nokia´s Support by e-mail and phone but they said I´d have to send my phone by mail in order to be fixed and I just know that it will take a huge time till it gets solved...

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
If a hard reset and reinstallation of the software have not resolved the issue, please visit a local Care centre where this can be fixed for you.
The Care centre will most likely be able to do this in the shop itself and so you won't have to send the phone for repair. If this is necessary after all they will able be able to give you an estimate of how long it will take to repair the phone and send it back to you.

No Social App on Asha 303

I've bought a new Asha 303 about 2 month ago and started working with it but there's a problem. There is no Social app in Apps and games and there's no widget for it(there must be one according to userguide and specifications). I've restored it 2 times and updated to 14.60 version and 2 times reinstalled it but no result.

Can i run more than one app in my Asha 303 mobile?

*in my last smart phone i was able to run many apps at the same time and navigate between them, but in my new asha phone idnt know how to open many apps in the same time and also idnt know if this feature exist in this phone or not, so if any one know how to do this please help me??!!

Sory bro nokia asha 303 doesnot support multitasking... U can hope... But there is no chance to add this feature

Key mapping to symbols is incorrect on Asha 303

Hello everyone.
I just got a slightly used Asha 303 and noticed that the symbols obtained when you press the lower-left gray arrow key (like colon, slash, plus, parenthesis, etc.) are not those shown on the key caps. (e.g. semicolon is shown on the comma key, but pressing the 2nd and that key gives me an accented o. The other keys on that right side of the keyboard all give accented letters.) How can I correct/change this, even if it means manually re-mapping?
Incase it matters, This phone was originally sold in Malaysia, Thailand or China I think since those maps were pre-loaded on the memory card. There are no special characters on the keys though, other than some yellow stroke marks on the R,T,Y,F and G keys. I have since upgraded the device software, restored it to factory defaults and set the language to English but it didn't make a difference.
Any ideas are welcome.

It doesn't matter if your phone was originally sold in other country. You should be able to see the exact character when you press the button. Have you tried to switch off the phone, take out the battery for a second and then switch on the device? What happened after that?
If switching off/on of the device didn't work and tried all the possible solution for your concern, it's best to have your phone checked with the Nokia Care Point. If your phone is already out of warranty, repair charges may apply.

Nokia Asha 303 - Update 14.87 - internet always on

I just updated my asha 303 to version 14.87 and now my phone duplicated its apps and is always connected to the internet. If i disconnect wlan, a gprs connection switches on. How can I turn all connections off and connect only when I need them?
And if it's not possible, how can I go back to the previous update?
I already did a factory reset, but it didn't work...
My configurations are the following:
Settings/Connectivity/ Internet Connection -> Ask First
Settings/Connectivity/ Packet Data Connection --> When needed

Sounds like an app goes wild. Very difficult to track the one down which does this. Furthermore, because you have that duplicate app issue, I recommend: Nokia Suite » Menu » Tools » Software Update » there is a ‘reinstall’ below your phone, in that explanation. Did that help?

Nokia (Asha) 303 uses my credits even when I am co...

Dear all,
I bought Nokia (Asha) 303 a couple of years ago with the wish to browse the internet whenever I am close to WiFi network - which is both in my office and at home.
But, whenver I connect to internet, via the Nokia Browser, it consumes my credits like crazy. So much so that I am unable to use internet at all. For example, a couple of minutes ago, I paid ~ 8 CHF (like 8 USD) just to download the new version of Nokia Browser.
Is this the way it should be??? I doubt, because both my wife and my daughter are browsing carelessly using their devices - which are not Nokia 303.
I was playing with settings, and have:
WLAN search on;
WLAN first; and
Packett data - when needed.
Anything else I should do?

Problem in connecting Asha 303 with internet

i have mobile Asha 303 and make update with PC suite put when i connected with wi-fi nokia prowser work good put when i open store give me ( unable to open this page . check your connection or try again later ) and this happend when open mail - internet radio - facebook - whatsApp - social all give me ( Network connection problem tey again later)

please tell me how to turn off packet data in nokia asha 303?i have to delete the gprs settings as soon as my net pack gets ovr. if i dont delete them then my balance is deducted aftr evry few minutes. i keep on receiving texts on whatsapp..is there any provision to switch it off when i dont want to use it????

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum.
Turning the packet data completely off is not possible unless you're going to remove the packet data settings completely off the phone. However, in order for you to avoid unecessary charges, try to remove the whatsapp or any live widget (e.g social apps such as facebook or twitter, or even weather application) from the homescreen of your device. Since these are applications that require internet connection, if set on the homescreen, it'll continuously get live feeds and updates which means, it'll be using your data.

Welcome to the Nokia discussion boards!
Did you download Opera Mini here from the Nokia applications store? If not, download it and install the application through Nokia Suite which can be found here.
It may be worth also before reinstalling applications, to perform a soft reset, which will restore your settings and not delete any data from the device. You can do this by entering *#7780# into your keypad and when prompted, enter 12345 as the default passcode.

Software Update for Nokia Asha 303 v. 14.87

Im downloading maps yesterday via nokia suite when I found out that there is a new software update for my phone. V.14.85 here is the changelog
*Improved Features and Performance
*Updated Apps
*Improved stability
I dont know what apps are updated

I cannot update my Nokia Asha 303 to latest update v14.87 via Nokia Suite. I followed the instructions as guided by the software update wizard, but when I reach to install step following error occurs mentioned in pictures and this keeps happening even though I am not doing anything.

Joikuspot on Asha 303?

My wife is currently an N97 owner, but since she bought an Android tablet (tethers through N97 Joikuspot) she finds that she doesn't use most of the advanced features of the N97 much.
The N97 lock-switch just broke so she's in the market for a new phone. Must have physical querty.
She primarily used N97 for:
- Joikuspot tethering
- Facebook
- Calls/SMS
- Weather
- Lightweight webbrowsing
The Asha 303 seems to meet most of the above needs, with less physical things she's worried about breaking.
The only question is joikuspot. It has WLAN and S40, so it seems Joikuspot "should" work on the 303. Can anyone confirm?

As the Asha 303 is an S40 phone, I'm afraid Joikuspot won't work.
You can always double-check with the developers, and check if they're planning an S40 version.

In my asha 303 i cant use the app store..it's not functioning..inspite of making a nokia account
another issue is that any web address in emails or anywhere it can't be opened directly..it just searches n searches and then it fails

Go to betalabs.nokia.com. Sign in using the same user name & password that you used here. From there you can download the latest store client for s40.
For web addresses not opening in mails- are you able to browse normally using the browser? If no then you need to activate the proper access point. It will be provided by the network operator.

In my last old smart phone there was code to format it but i dont remember it and i dont know if it will work for asha or not,,So please i want (All) format ways which works for my Asha 303 mobile??!

The Soft Reset thru' *#7370# seems to work on some of the recent S40 series Phones. You may try dialling the code and when prompted enter the Security code which is 12345 by default unless changed by you ..If it works, only the data in Phone memory will get erased ...
