Asha 501- keyboard apps or multiple keyboards

I'm an Asha 501 user, my fingers are very much large/fat so when ever I try to touch on the screen somtimes it goes to other keywords.
my sister also used the same keyboard and her fingers are tiny, she has no issues in accessing the keyboard. but I've seen other devices in the 3 inch where they have provided the keyboard with much better option like spaces in between the letters are sufficient for me to type without any errors.
If possible try to develop an app for users like me. In some cases the landscape mode helps, but for some apps or interface the landscape mode doesn't activate.....
Plz help...

I do not have any trouble with the Keypad(virtual).... But i prefer ENGILSH PHONE KEYPAD rather than full keypad.
Its pretty easy to type the letters and spacious toooo So just give a try And as far as i know there is no possibility to develop an app that too regarding keypad in this platform. But anyways hope for it

Hi,
now that Whatapp is finally on the horizon, I wonder when other essential apps will be available on the Asha 501? Most importantly, I would need the following apps:
dropbox
Skype
here maps (for Cambodia)
Mail exchange (so that I can sync calendar and contacts)
Does anybody have any news on these apps or similar apps that could be used instead?

We don't have any info when those apps will be available for Asha501, hoping few of those arrives on the next update which still is not sure when Nokia have planned, they don't generally release update information before.
My Asha 501 came pre-installed with Here maps and there it was updated recently too. Here maps on Asha 501 doesn't have offline maps, it uses network services to show you the location and it does shows you direction from place A to place B.

Same here, when I go for that 4shared app in the Nokia Store. When I download that JAD directly via the Internet (Nokia Xpress browser) and http://store.ovi.com/content/536062/Download I get:

That is nice, because this app was not signed by its author but by the Nokia Store team with the ‘Nokia Online CA I’. Then on my computer, I downloaded that JAD, placed it on a microSD, inserted that microSD into my Nokia Asha 503, and installed via Files » Memory card » 4shared_Mobile_0_5_3: It installed successfully and works! However, it was not placed into the manufacturer domain but in the third-party domain.
I have no idea what is wrong with this app, yet. Please, let the examples come in! Perhaps more examples, we find a pattern together.

Asha 501 - Youtube app official

When can we get the Youtube app. In the nokia store, I can see many apps but they are not offical. Can we expect the offical youtube app.
I've heard that youtube app has been removed for lumia series, will it be the same case for asha users too.

Is there a need for a separate app? I think Youtube works pretty ok on the phone via Nokia Browser already.

Farsi (persian) keyboard for asha 501

Hi, who knows how to install persian keyboard on asha501s, i had the arabic one, but its gone after flash and update

If not, we need the 7-letter code which is printed on the label located under the battery. That product code determines the firmware variant you have. The firmware variant determines the set of languages you have. Officially, only Nokia Care Centres are able to change that code because tools are required which are copyrighted only to Nokia Care, officially.

Keyboard Freezing on Multiple Apps

Not sure what caused this. Been running everything fine for months. I did do the most recent update (to version 4.5.602.MB810.Verizon.en.US), but it worked fine for a few days.
I'm finding my keyboard freezing, in all applications (Handcent, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail), when I try to use any form of punctuation mark (period, comma, question mark, etc). It happens sporadically and seems to have no common denominator. If it happens while replying in Handcent (quick text mode or full app mode), I can still hit send - but then it ends up sending duplicates of the text message. Facebook it will post the comment only once it seems.
As it's across multiple apps, this seems more like a system issue. I've gone through and cleared my cache and data for the multi-touch keyboard. I've also downloaded a third party app to clear out all my cache as I, too, had the problem with the disappearing keyboard. But none of this seems to fix it.
Any suggestions? Is there a way to rollback to the previous Android version, even though it worked fine for a few days?

Try disabling vibrate/sound on keypress if you have it enabled.
I've also heard that clearing the Learned Words from your keyboard app will help with this as well.
The easiest way that would work would be to get a keyboard app from the market. There are plenty of free ones that are great. I personally use Smart Keyboard Pro and love it. It's got a free trial version to see if you like it.
Going back to a previous version is a violation of this forum and cannot be discussed here, although there are other Android forums that allow it.

Multiple Keyboard Shortcut Assignments?

Is it possible in Premiere CS6 to create multiple keyboard assignments for one action? For example, Premiere has the UP ARROW key set to jump to the next cut on the timeline by default. I like this assignment, but also want the same action to happen when I press the ' key as well. Is it possible to have two shortcuts perform the same action?

Dont know if this is any use to anyone now...
Download the app "BetterTouchTool" (for mac) and map any key ontop of the shortcut in question to give you multiple shortcuts per action.
The program also allows you to limit the shortcut to only occur when premiere is open.

New feature request: Having the possibility to use different keyboard language on multiple monitors.

I would love to see a new feature to allow the use of different keyboard language on multiple monitors with the same desktop mac.
Ex.: On dual monitor desktop, use english keyboard on the left screen and french keyboard on the right screen.
So I wouldn't have to switch keyboard language all the time!

MacBook stuck with shift key enabled and numbers not working - even the keyboard app in languages wont type lowercase nor numbers?! Anyone know whats up? no spillage...cant understand why the keyboard app wont do anything.

Anyone have a clue? I can understand the keyboard being broke / shift key being stuck but why in the world would I not be able to type the numbers on the language keyboard app on the operating system? Numbers show up on the app but when I press them I still get the special characters like #^&#* and it wont type lower case. Nothing has ever been spilt, just stopped working one day. Rebooted from Time Capsule restore dated a month ago and its still doing it. (problem started two weeks ago). Only way to get lower case or numbers to actually show up is the copy and paste.
Any help would be amazing!
Details on computer: 13 inch MacBook6, 1 (Late 2009) / Intel Core 2 DUO / 2.26GHZ / 2GB / Memory running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5

If you can afford it, I would recommend replacing the topcase and keyboard as Apple suggests. If like me, you can't afford it or are open to a hack fix, then read on.
The problem
Yesterday, a little water spilt on my 13" MBP keyboard. I turned it around immediately, drained out the water and used tissue to suck it all up but the keyboard was still acting funny. I turned it off and left it out in the sun for a couple of hours and turned it on again but problems remained. Like Rickdubya, my warranty had run out just a month ago and I knew Apple would not cover this under warranty. I tried to clean the shift keys and left it overnight with some rice on them with hopes that the moisture might get sucked out. Nothing worked. (The rice bit is an urban legend that seems to work with some electronics). Went to the Apple Store this morning and was told that they wouldn't even take out the key and clean it, and that the entire top case would have to be replaced. A total bill of 156 Euros which I cannot afford. I had a USB keyboard that would let me use the Mac for the moment so I decided to try to work out a fix.
Symptoms
- Boots in safe mode everytime (which I later found out was because the shift key is pressed)
- Cannot login because password is in lower case or has numbers
- Cannot boot in super user mode and try to disable keys or override password as some commands won't work in uppercase (I wouldn't recommend this anyway because its super user mode)
- All text is in caps and numbers are symbols as though shift key is always pressed
- Audio doesn't work
- Keyboard viewer would not always show the shift key pressed. The key seemed to get pressed at random
Fix
1. Hold the Option button down on boot to bypass the Safe Mode ensure a normal boot
2. At the login screen, plug in a USB keyboard and enter your password to login
3. Change your password to one that uses all caps and no numbers
4. Download and install KeyRemap4MacBook .
5. Use a combination of the functionalities of the Keyboard Viewer and KeyRemap4MacBook to figure out which shift key is the problem. In my case, I found out that it was only my left shift key.
6. Disable the left/right shift key on KeyRemap4MacBook and click on the 'Reload XML' button to make that take effect.
If only one shift key was the problem, then you are done. If both shift keys were shorted, then its likely other keys are too. In which case you should probably just replace the entire thing. If you think other keys are not affected, then you can use KeyRemap4MacBook itself to remap the shift functionality to a lesser used key like the Left Option key.
7. Under System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items , add KeyRemap4MacBook as an application that should start on login. This will ensure that your disable/remap of the shift key is active everytime you login.
Usage change/Things to remember
1. Remember to hold down the Option key everytime the computer boots or reboots to bypass safe mode. The fix above is at the software level. The key is physically still shorted at the hardware level and will affect boot.
2. Remember that at the login screen, the disable/remap is not active. So your password now has to be all caps and only letters.
As soon as I can save some money, I will get my topcase and keyboard replaced but until then this solution works great with minimal change. Hope this helps!

Purchased new asha 501 and discovered that there is no nokia music app to download songs in the phone.It was there at all the previous asha phone released.will it be supported in later software updates????

I bought a new asha 501 with a whats app. But now when i launch whatsapp it is running phone setup and sys contact refresh is not possible?

Because it works here, we need more information about your setup, for example: Which E-mail provider do you use? Or is that an HTML E-mail?

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If you have done this like I describe above and the problem continues I suggest you contact Apple Support or make an appointment at an Apple Store and have your iPad examined by a technician.

Where is the so promised whatsapp for asha 501 .... you guys just bluffed during the launch of asha phone.... And now instead of giving whatsapp compatibility you are releasing new products on oct 22 ? this is funny. First concentrate on 501 matter and later on release new phones.

Keyboard app recommendation

The standard Android keyboards don't do non-Roman languages, which I need for some of my work, so I've looked into keyboard apps in Google Play. For several months I used GO Keyboard, which is quite good; but recently it began pushing a large number of ads (see this thread). I went looking again, and found Smart Keyboard, which has a free trial (fully functional, nag screen, but no ads) and an ad-free, nag-free paid version ($2.65 as of this date). Here's a short review for those who may be interested:
Smart Keyboard is highly customizable, with many options for appearance and functionality, including layout (normal, T9, compact); transparency; adding or removing a domain key (.com, etc.), mic key, and others; resizing keys; skins; etc. The multilingual functions are easy to use and customize. Two of my favorite features: (1) You can use text prediction/autotext and non-Roman keyboards on a physical keyboard if your phone is so equipped (switching languages with Shift+Space). (2) Long-pressing a key on the virtual keyboard inserts the alt character, e.g., long-pressing a inserts @, d inserts $; this saves a lot of switching to the symbol keyboard! There are a couple of things that could be improved: (1) add a key to take the virtual keyboard off the screen; (2) the Hebrew keyboard layout is very odd, unlike any I've ever seen, nonintuitive and hard to get used to. Overall, though, I recommend it very highly. If you can deal with the buy-me nag screens on occasion, the trial version works great. I think it's well worth the $2.65, though, especially if you have professional needs for non-Roman languages.

Now that IOS 8 allows for this sort of application to be done. Anybody hear of an app that could do the mentioned?
