Hello!! I am a new user of Asha 501, and I use it for a while and no problem. But I found that I cannot search wifi hotspot recently and sometimes I cannot open and close wifi easily when I press the wifi button.
When I opened both bluetooth and wifi, It disconnect my bluetooth headset. I don't know what's going on, and please help me to solve this problem. I have google it so long time, but it do not have similar cases let me to refer.
    Thank you very much!!!

From the Nokia developer website I see there are three models of Asha 501. RM902,RM900 and RM899. Only the RM902 has WiFi and has dual SIM functionality http://developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/Asha_501/
can you type *#0000# from phone dialer and check what type you see there?.

  • Does NOKIA ASHA 501, support exchange email ?

is it possible to  configure asha 501 with exchange email, so that i can read office emails on phone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I was not able to do so, because
could not find a built-in option
Mail for Exchange (Series 40) does not work
Mail for Exchange (Symbian) does not work
my company uses a self-signed certificate authority (CA) for ActiveSync and HTTPs connections (and the Nokia 501 does not allow my to add this authority to the known ones)
The Nokia 501 is based on a new operating system called new Asha software platform. I guess, this is the reason. IMAP, POP, and SMTP work for me.

  • Asha 501- email account doesn't open images and ca...

I'm using my gmail account in the asha 501. I cannot see any option to download the attachment to my phone.
Also, it takes all the time on earth to open large messages, though I agree its 2g speed but its taking a lot of time and round sign revolves and nothing happens and I need to quit that msg.
    Any solutions for this..

Have you made any comparison using WLAN access point instead?
Have read elsewhere however that "You can quickly reply, forward, download attachments which you can save to downloads folder and access them later, the whole experience was average because it seems HTML support is missing and many of my Emails were not formatted properly when it comes to line breaks and paragraphs".
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

  • Unable to connect to WIFI on Asha 501

My Nokia Asha 501 is not connecting to my wifi network. displays error unsupported security type? and there is no option to edit WIFI network also... Any solution for this?? Thanks in advance

LadyPink, you have to sell your phone and go for another operating system like Symbian/S60 Belle Feature Pack 2 (for example the Nokia 700), Windows Phone 8 (for example the Nokia Lumia 520) or one of the operating systems which your mates use.

  • Net Surfing while on Call - Nokia Asha 501

well i do want to ask a question. does asha 501 supports net surfing while on call from same sim? as other sim becomes useless.
Moderator's Note: The subject was edited as we have moved the post from an existing thread and created a new topic.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

DTM was only implemented on a few phones and to be very frank, i have not personally got hands on any phone supporting Dual Transfer Mode over 2G connection. I don't think any of the newer devices has that implemented.
Besides the rest of the phones you mentioned, I remember myself using the X2-02 a lot and am very sure that the connection used to be put up on hold while there was any call or text coming to the phone.
There could then be a chance that my network provider never supported DTM. So I'll back out of here.
However i still feel that those devices couldn't do simultaneous data and voice. Maybe @Abi99 will have more information on this topic.

  • Nokia Asha 501 email attachement size

Hi, does anybody know the max size of any email attachement in the Asha 501? I cannot open most attachements on my asha 501.
    Thanks.

E-mail attachment size on Asha 501 is very limited. Maximum it could attach is more or less than 500kb. Anything more than phone don't support.

Because it works here, we need more information about your setup, for example: Which E-mail provider do you use? Or is that an HTML E-mail?

we have a central mac.com email address with several aliases attached to it...all but 1 of those aliases have been successfully setup on separate ipods or iphones except for my wife's.
under "Messages," my wife has the central mac.com address and her phone number as eligible contacts.  when i try to add her mac.com alias it bugs out and gives me the "verifying your email" error...also immediate...no chance it's really pinged anything in the time it took to display the error.

    Hello.
I have a Nokia Asha 501.1 running Asha Platform 1.0.
I am using this a test device and I do not have a SIM card and just trying to use the device over WiFi. However, when I open the Internet app and browse to a URL, I receive the following error message:
Can't load this page at the moment. Check your phone's date and security settings.
Is it possible to use the device without a SIM card and on WiFi only? How can I resolve this error?
    Thanks,

  • Asha 501 - Problems Compiled HERE

    Hello members,
I felt there should be a compilation of all the defects/problems/complains towards Asha 501 phone ONLY in one thread. Every one also adds their own observations and experience with the Asha 501 than it will be easy for the others to read and hopefully for the Nokia team to look into the complains as well.
    Here is the list:
PDF Reader, MS Office Documents viewer/editor (the inbuilt app is not at all good with .xls & .ppt files to view)
No Cut/Copy/Paste feature outside browsers for the documents viewed within them and from the app "Notes"
No feature to minimise opened apps and switch between them.
Recent call logs don't display date for last 7 days other than days following past week . There is only "time" displayed for the calls last 12 hour and "name of the day ( ex: Fri, Sat or Sun )" for the last 7 days.
No option to clear a single Fastlane entry
The Music Library shows the name of the song(s) NOT as per the title of mp3's saved in  the "Music Folder" of the Memory Card/Phone Memory
The Music Library search function hides a significant portion of "search results" due to the pop up of the keyboard. As a result, it's difficult ( almost impossible ) to view more than ( or nearest ) 2 results.
    Can't delete pre-installed apps
Facebook and Twitter app seems a lot buggy with their notifications are almost non-existent and stopped working ( in many cases )
Support for "Alarms" to work when the phone is switched off. Low model non-touchscreen nokia handsets do have this feature and it ould be great addition to touchscreen models as well.
"Alarms" sound is too low for custom music selected as "alarm tone"
Option for "Counters" to "Clear counters" daywise and not clear entire history to date
Screen turns off completely while you are attending a call and requires to push "home" key. A better and easy approach to this is requested, mostly, keeping the screen ON always while the Call is active.
Java apps supported but no access to stuff online that requires java? Browsers lack support for Java plug-in
    Support for Whatsapp
Support for custom "Wallpaper for home screen" to choose from Memory card/Phone Memory
Support for Flash in Browsers to view /flv videos and play saved content
Support for higher file sizes to upload in Emails as attachments
Support for compression tools like .zip or .rar, etc.
Addition of "Battery icon" and display "date" on the pull down notification centre.
Please provide your list in a concise manner so as to track down as many user responses as possible.

    Hello,
Your suggestions are good food for thought, but I think some of them are not realistic, at least for the current generation of Asha devices...
Others would be nice improvements, though.
1 - This is due to technical limitations of the platform.  See my post here: https://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Asha-and-other-Nokia-Series-30/pdf-reader-for-asha-311/m-p/2128113#...
3 - this is an OS limitation, not likely to change
6 - agreed, they should fix it
7 - agreed, they should fix it
8 - this is the same for example non-rooted android devices, not likely to change
9 - agreed, they should fix it
10 - agreed, it would be nice to have. As a workaround, if you put your phone to flight mode, the alarm will still activate but the phone will use considerably less power.
11 - agreed, they should fix it
12 - this would be nice to have
13 - powering off the screen during conversation is a power saving feature, your suggestion has questionable benefit. Besides, most people are not capable of sensing light with their ears  Automatic screen poweron would require a proximity detector (plus hardware omitted due to cost-saving).
14 - the two javas are different and not compatible. The phone has J2ME (Mobile java), the websites use desktop java (J2SE).
15 - it would be nice to have
17 - flash seems to be less and less supported, even deprecated on most mobile platforms. I don't think it'll come.
18 - this is likely due to a technical limitation (either device heap size or bandwidth consideration on the supporting background services - since Nokia email is proxied)
19 - this is possible to implement by a third party but not part of other mobile OSes, either
20 - it would be nice to have
    Nokia Lumia 520 3046.0000.1329.2001 RM-914
    Nokia Asha 302 V15.09 22-05-13 RM-813

  • Line with audio messages for Asha 501.

Line app updated with Audio messages feature and with Recently sent stickers. The app is better than previous version.

Asha 501 isn't supporter by Nokia suite, so you can't install apps from PC like any other Nokia phone.
You aren't able to access Nokia store via Wifi as well?. I would suggest a phone settings reset, you *will* lose data stored on the phone so backup before you decide to reset it.
If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.

  • Blank screen after Ending a call on Asha 501

I got a new Asha 501 last week. I am very happy with the product and its worth for the money spent.
However, two issues i have noticed so far and its bothering me a bit
    1. after ending a call the screen goes blank and sometimes it takes a bit to end the call. This is very awkward during some important calls. would appreciate if there is any solution for this.
    2. Mail app takes a long time to load the message contents. I know 2g is not the fastest connection but still this is too slow even for 2g.
    best,
    Selvan

    1. On call, when you bring your phone near to your ear, the Proximity sensor recognises your ear and turn off the screen so that there is no unwanted inputs as the screen touches your skin. But when you pull it back, it turns the screen on again, but it takes 0.5-1 second to the Max.
If it takes longer, make sure there is nothing in front of sensor (it is placed on top left), like Plastic lamination, some accessory, dust or while you pull off your phone, your finger should not be there.
If it still takes longer, better make your device checked at Nokia Care. If found some problem, they will change the sensor.
    2. The mail app is working perfectly fine for me on Wi-Fi. You should try loading some websites in browser, if it takes longer, check network strength, it should be strong on 2G internet (Personal experience- BSNL 2G, residing near Network tower, slow like hell, in INDIA). Try changing provider.
