Asian Myriad fonts (CH, KO, JP)

Hi guys,
Can you please help me.
I have Adobe InDeisgn CS6, creative suite. It inludes Myriad font by default.
I have a project with some Asian languages (Chinese, Korean, Japanese). InDesign displays fonts as "[Myriad pro-R-cht]", so missing.
However, according to specification it should support these languages.
How can I activate Asian support?
Have you ever used Myriad for these languages?
Many thanks for your help!

My gut feeling is that you are dealing with a composite font. These fonts take Latin glyphs from one font and CJK from another font, but present them to ID as a single font - and if you don't overtly name your composite font something that makes sense, the default name is usually pretty incomprehensible. Did your project start on an East Asian localization of ID?
It's funny that it's based on Myriad, though - the Latin glyphs from Myriad  Pro and the Latin glyphs from Kozuka Gothic Pro differ in scale and weight, but are very similar to one another. So similar that I would have simply used Kozuka Gothic. The same is true of Adobe Heiti (but you only get one weight free with ID; maybe that's why your provider felt the need to make a composite font based off of Myriad).

  • 1602 errors when trying to install the Extended Asian Language font pack for Adobe Reader XI

My company is trying to deploy Adobe Reader XI 11.0.10 with the Extended Asian Language font pack via SCCM 2007, and some computers are failing the install of the Extended Asian Language font pack with 1602 error.  Reader is installing successfully, but the font pack log file will have this entry:
    ADelRCP logging: :   In Process : MsiExec.exe
ADelRCP logging: : Setup terminated because critical files are in use or applications that interfere with files installed by setup are running. Review the preceding entries in the log file and close the applications listed before retrying setup.
CustomAction ApplicationInUse returned actual error code 1602 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Action ended 9:08:42: ApplicationInUse. Return value 2.
Action ended 9:08:42: INSTALL. Return value 2.
Our automation to install this is killing Reader and Acrobat before running the Reader 11.0.10 install, so I do not know what would be in use here.
I appreicate any suggestions you have.  I can provide the entire log file, upon request.  Thanks.

  • Apple Myriad Font Download

Hello everyone. I would like to download and use the Apple Myriad font in a Pages document. Does anyone know how I can download this?
    Thanks,
    Vikram

There are four places fonts are stored in Mac OS X. The two you mentioned and
Fonts required by Mac OS X to startup:
    /System/Library/Fonts
    For Mac OS 9/Classic:
    /System Folder/Fonts
Fonts could be stored in any one of those four locations.

  • Missing Myriad font

I have had to reformat my computer a couple of times and have lost quite a few fonts that I cannot find again. Among them is Myriad which I thought came with Photoshop but when I re-installed it, Myriad is not there. I cannot find it for free online so far. Help! Any good sources for downloading fonts for free?

While I can't recommend any particular site, Google certainly turns up a huge number of links with a search "myriad font download".  The very first on the list is:  http://www.free-fonts.com/font/myriad.html

  • Fonts switch to the default Myriad font

    Hi All,
Client has reported this issue on several iMacs (10.7.2) running Illustrator CS5.5 with Suitcae Fusion 3 containing a clean font library.
Designer can be working with text (on a greeting card design) and the font they are using (live and active in SF3) will suddenly change to Myriad Pro.
If the user performs apple-z, the font will switch back, therefore presuming it is a keyboard command (clashing or remapped?) as they cannot associate
the change with any menu procedure.
    Any ideas

    Mike,
Does it also happen when no other application is open?

  • Asian subtitles / font problem

    hi!
I am doing subtitles for japanese and chinese, but after saving and reopening the project the font changes. with regular fonts symbols and punctuation sometimes look odd, the only fonts which work on my computer are american, symbol and hei.- but as i said: after opening the project again, the font-formating is gone..
is there a recommended font for japanese/chinese subtitles, or , is there something wrong with my installed fonts?
    (g5, os 10.4, dsp 4, latest updates)
    thanx
    joerg

See here for a list of the fonts that should work:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301332
For Japanese you should try Hiragino or Osaka. For Chinese it depends on whether it is Simplified or Traditional.

  • Myriad Pro Light usable in Photoshop but not visible in Font Book.

I am having trouble locating a font. We've recently upgraded to CS5 and one of our designers needed a font I'd used in an earlier file. I saved the Myriad font family out for him, but 'Light' was missing from the family in fontbook, even though I am able to use it in Photoshop and all other Adobe programs. When he opens my files however, he gets a font warning saying he doens't have Myriad Pro light. My question is, why am I able to even use it if it's not in Fontbook, could it be stored some place else?

That's just a text file containing cached information about fonts.
If you're able to see the font in other Adobe apps then try this:
    1. Launch InDesign
    2. Create a new document
    3. Create a text frame
    4. Type some text
    5. Select the text and apply the font
    6. Go to the menu Type and click on Find Font...
    7. Select the font from the list Fonts in Document
    8. Click on the More Info button
An area named Info will be displayed. There you will find the Path to the font file.

  • A question regarding using Myriad Pro as a web font...

Okay so this is a pretty straight forward question (I think)...
I've been using sIFR to replace many of the typical web fonts on the sites I build since much like everyone else I'm sick of being restricted to using only certain fonts.
Myriad Pro is one of the many fonts I really like for building websites. I discovered recently by accident that Myriad Pro (and a few other variants in the Myriad Pro family) are part of Adobe Reader. This means that ANYONE who downloads Adobe Reader has Myriad Pro installed on their system and probably doesn't even realize it.
Having discovered this it has come to my attention that there is a decent possibility I could use CSS and have Myriad Pro as a web font without even having to render it using sIFR. The problem is that anyone who doesn't have Adobe Reader installed wouldn't see the nice Myriad font.
So my question is what do all of you guys think about this? Does anyone have any actual numbers in regards to how many people actually have Adobe Reader? If it was a higher percentage like 90% then I think this would be a safe solution.

I don't know how many people use Adobe Reader, although I would think it's a fairly high proportion. Perhaps not as high as 90%, though. However, there's nothing stopping you from using Myriad Pro as the first choice in a font-family declaration. Browsers use the first available font. You could use something like this:
    body {
      font-family:"Myriad Pro", "Gill Sans", "Lucida Sans", Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;

  • Myriad Pro font with Dreamweaver 8

    Hello !
Im making a web site, all the text are in myriad pro font...It looks realy nice in web browser on mac, but not on widows machines because there is no font like myriad pro, and for default it uses arial font.
Is any chance to join html with myriad font...I tried with css but no luck, my css was generated autamaticly in html code as you can see here:

Any idea how to solve this, so myriad pro will be visible at any windows os

Any idea how to solve this, so myriad pro will be visible at any windows os
No font is ever visible on any machine unless it has been installed on that machine, and Myriad Pro does not come with Windows. So unless someone has bought Myriad Pro or bought Adobe apps that come with it, they cannot display it. You need to turn your text into a graphic or pdf for everyone to see that font. The best place to ask about how to do things with Dreamweaver is probably the Adobe forums:

  • Arabic / Hindi digits problem with Myriad Arabic font

    Hi,
In Indesign Middle Eastern version we have the option to change the digits (numerals) between Arabic and Hindi (1234/١٢٣٤).
I having a problem with flipping the digits to Arabic (Latin typface) instead of Hindi (Arabic typface) when typing using Arabic input language in my keyboard.
The feature works when you type using English as an input language but as soon as you change your input language to Arabic the numbers are typed in Hindi digits and the feature of changing them to Arabic digits (Latin typface) doesn't work.
I'm using "Arabic Myriad" font for my project but I tested "Adobe Arabic" font too and both have the same problem, I'm not sure if the problem is from Indesign or in the fonts?!
    Any help is appreciated

but as soon as you change your input language to Arabic the numbers are typed in Hindi digits and the feature of changing them to Arabic digits (Latin typface) doesn't work.
    Which "feature of changing them"?
If I use the numeric keypad and the English keyboard, the digits keyed respect the language setting of the text in ID. If I use the numeric keypad and the Arabic keyboard... the digits respect the language setting of the text in ID. If I use the flyout from the Character panel to change to Arabic numerals, or Hindi numerals, or Farsi numerals, then all of the numerals change accordingly, no matter what language setting I use. Were you already aware that language is a character-level formatting quality in ID?
My hunch is that you're not changing the Language setting of the text. If I'm wrong: does it happen in all files? Only new files? Only one file? Also, which platform are you using? Windows or Mac? Which version?

  • How do I install fonts from Type On Call into Win 8.1

I have been using Trade Gothic Condensed as my default Excel font for many years. Each time I get a new computer I have been able to install the font in the new OS. I am having trouble doing that with Win 8.1. It says it is installed but does not appear in my list of Fonts, yet the Myriad font comes up fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to install the Trade Gothic font in my new Win 8.1 computer?
    Many thanks
    George

There are strings in the pliist file to add other Macs so that you can use some USB-DVD drives.
This is 5 page thread, so a little more 'meat' to it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3410900?start=60&tstart=0
And on PC booting Windows from a USB DVD to do the install is usually a piece of cake, sometimes you just need to specify that USB in the BIOS boot order and sometimes select via F12 (or another Fkey) and that is it.
What you have here seems to be everything and everyone is excluded unless there is a  mac-model device ID string that specifies yes.  An unnecessary hurdle.
