ASK : Upgrade CPU for Lenovo 0764-56A

Dear all,
I've just recently bought Lenovo 0764-56A with Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 GHz. I didn't notice that there is a promotion in Indonesia that with an extra USD. 130, i can get Lenovo 0764-A16 with Core 2 Duo T7500 2,2 GHz.
So my questioons are :
Is it still possible for me to upgrade my Lenovo's CPU from T5250 to T7500? I do wan to upgrade my CPU from T5250 to T7500.
Thanks.

Yup, unfortunately and im sure not by accident 99% of note book computers are made not to be upgradable. Everything is hard wired in to the motherboard. soundcard, video card (my own personal demon), network card, and of course the processor

  • Upgrading APU for Lenovo N586 Model#75840

I am thinking of upgrading the APU for this laptop with AMD A10-4600m or AMD A10-5750M. I am wondering if these 2 APU are compatible with my Lenovo. Also if there is anything else I need to change in order to get it working. Do I need to change the ram as well or can I keep the old ram. Currently I believe it comes with 4GB DDR3 SDRAM. Also can anyone tell me if I am using Windows 7 32 bit, what is the max ram I can install after upgrading my APU. And is this laptop comes with dedicated graphic card or integrated with the CPU? Thanks.

    hi jolax,
Looking at this pdf data sheet, the Lenovo N586 can accommodate the following:
    Processor:
    AMD Comal Quad-core A8-4500M Processor
    AMD Comal Dual-core A6-4400M Processor
    Video Graphics:
AMD RadeonTM HD 7640G Integrated graphic (built-in to the processor)
    Memory:
    Up to 16GB DDR3 – 1600/1333Mhz memory
    [2 SODIMM slots (1x2GB/2x2GB/1x4GB/1x2GB+1x4GB/2x4GB)]
I recommend changing only the component that is specified on this data sheet as the motherboard's BIOS may not support other components that's not on the list.
    Regards

  • Upgrade CPU In Lenovo W510

Hi! I am new here, I have owned IBM and Lenovo products. I juust recently purchased a new Lenovo W510 It has a Intel 720QM Processor and I would like to do a CPU upgrade. I have done some research and it has left me with a few questions. I have read that there has been some success with putting 920XM CPU in this machine but the problem is 50 watt power supply and the power supply is 45 watt so you are underpowered the CPU buy 5watts! How will this effect the performance of the 920XM longterm and in everyday usage? Not to mention the obvious the battery and power brick! I have heard through these forrums that These machines already are not the greatest  at keeping these quad's cool already. I have looked at the  Intel 840QM processor which only needs a 45 watt power supply. the performance is very close to the 920XM on paper but what is the real difference as far as user performance for the money? The 840QM  is 1.86GB To turbo out at 3.2 GB which correct me if I am wrong is the top power of the 920XM. So did Lenovo put the 840QM In the W510 and if so,can anyone tell me how it performes? and if Lenovo didn't why not it seems like a good way to not have to change the heat sinks or the power supply. I really would like some input on this before I do an upgrade. Thanks In Advance

My unit came with a 135w power supply, but it's nice to know I can run it on a 90w. I have the 90w slim with auto and airplane adapters, so I'm glad I can run it on that, or at least use it to charge the unit while I'm driving.
The 135 p/s is huge, but I hear the one with the w520 is even bigger. I can understand why you'd want a more powerful adapter with such a powerful unit, but I think even if it draws more then 90w, as long as you have a charged battery, you should be able to run it using a combination of battery and ac power, then when your battery gets low, either shut down or put it in standby until it can recharge. This would be far from ideal, but would be better then refusing to boot, but since you say the boot error can be bypassed, it's a moot point.
Regarding the fan on my unit, I've done a parts lookup, and it lists the cpu number, but no heatsink/fan assembly.

I guess there would be no way of knowing if this has the same one the extreme cpu does without visual confirmation. It's not an issue now anyway, this will suit all my needs, but in a year or two I will probably consider an upgrade if a good deal appears.
My only concern now is installing 16GB of ram and a 64bit OS.

  • Upgrade cpu for a20m (2628-RRR)

I got a A20m and tried to upgrade the cpu from celeron 550 to Pentium 3, I put a P3 700 in to the mechine, but it just runs in 550 Mhz, what should I do to fully utilitize the cpu speed?
I did upgrade the Bios to v1.13, and have no new idea now.
    Please help!

    Welcome to the forum!
Have you properly inserted the drive, because that's the reason for drive not being "seen" by the machine 90% of the time, and that can be tricky on A2x and A3x unit...make sure it's sitting properly in its caddy and is pushed in all the way.
Even if your machine had a BIOS limit (137GB for older ThinkPads) the drive would still be recognized. There are no "brand restrictions" on ThinkPads of this generation.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    George

  • Upgrade CPU for an older 635 Laptop

Hi, I have had an HP635 for a couple of years now, It basically serves me well except I do enjoy a little bit of gaming from time to time and its starting to show its age now.
I cant help but notice he Mobile processors list in the optional parts http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13969_div/13969_div.PDF
My question is, all warranty now expired, can I litereally pick on of these off eBay, retrofit it myself and have it work immediatly? Also, I have the e-350 processor now, and that has the 6310 Radion on board, but im not acutally sure if thats built into the chip, or is it built into the motherboard of the laptop?
So sum it up, can I exactly just pop a new CPU in and it will work, and furthermore will that affect the Graphics card ?
Sorry if it sounds like a newbie question, I just cant find a answer Im happy with online.
    Dev

Well it is complex but the e-350 is called an APU, not a CPU or GPU and it means the processing and video are on the same die. So yes if you put in another compatible processor it will carry both computing and video rendering functions. While you might get a processor a tick or 2 faster in computing it will essentially have the same graphics unit and will not improve your gaming experience enough to be worthwhile.

  • Upgrade cpu for dv5 1201el

I have a Pavilion dv5 1201el. Good notebook but now i would like to upgrade it with a more powerful cpu. It's possible? What cpu can i insert to it to have more speed ? Thanks

    Hi:
The product specs page doesn't list what processor is installed in your notebook.
Below is the link to the dv5 service manual.

    I would like to upgrade my CPU and memory.;
    (1) What is the maximum CPU that is supported by the mainboard?
    (2) What kind of CPU kan I use. Thinking about a Intel Core Due T7200 or T7600?
    (3) What kind of memory can I use to upgrade to 4Gb?
Looking forward to any reply thagt is usefull!

    Hi,
I think since your machine is not anymore in warranty, you wont get any problems or a revocation of some kind of warranty when opening your machine and doing some techie-like work on it. :)
    1. It should be the Core2Duo T7600
    2. Use the T7600
    3. 2GB+2GB? ;) T
Seriously: Try to use DDR2 with a FSB frequency of 667Mhz.
    Thats all, still some questions?

Thanks a lot...I want to help

Hello santalucia1992.  I understand you're wondering if you can upgrade the CPU in your notebook.
On some models of notebooks it is possible (though, not recommended) to upgrade your CPU.  The problems you could run into are heat concerns and power consumption concerns.  The cooling system for the notebook was designed with specific parts in mind and a faster CPU will create more heat.  Also, the notebook's power supply was meant to handle a specific amount of power as well.  A faster CPU will generally use more power.  Also, some CPUs are soldered to the motherboard.  This means that replacing the CPU means a full motherboard replacement.
In order to look up more specific information about the notebook I'll need your product number.  I can use this to view what parts are available.  This will give me a good idea whether or not the upgrade is possible.  This document can show you where the product number is located.
I will keep an eye out for your response.  I hope you're having an excellent day!

Carefully follow steps 1-9 outlined by wjosten in this post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/13356770#13356770.  This will not, however, avoid wiping any non-purchased media from your phone (ripped CDs, etc.) as this is only synced one way: from your computer to your phone.  You will have to either rebuild your iTunes library with this content and sync again to restore it to your phone, or purchase 3rd party software to copy it from your phone to iTunes prior to syncing (such as Touch Copy).

    Hello Dr. Lamb,
thank you for your fast reply here.
Yes, the actual firmware from last year September
Is already installed. Also I am checking almost in every day the firmware update page since almost half a year.
I did contact the hotline support also several times for.
I was informed about that they will publish an update, but not when.
Also there was a statement from the Toshiba CEO already in last year that all UHD TVs with the Cevo engine
will get this update in last year.
Its a pity and seems a neverending story. I am totally disappointed.

  • Memory upgrade for Lenovo 3000 V200 - only 2Gb seen :(

    I bought 2 Transcend DDR2 800 SO-DIMM modules 2Gb each to upgrade memory on Lenovo 3000 V200 notebook.
When I installed them, BIOS (and Windows) sees only 2Gb instead of 4Gb (i use x64 OS so no prob with OS here).
When I install one of new modules and original 1Gb that was in notebook initially - only 1Gb seen instead of 3.
I already checked that all memory modules are OK, both memory slots (if used only one) are OK too.
But when both slots used together only lowest volume memory module is seen.
BIOS update to latest awailable (6th release, ...60WW) didn't help.
In specification stated that this model support up to 4Gb memory but I can't force it to support even 3Gb, only 1 or 2.
Is it possible to do something in this situation?

Probably the Transcend memory is not compatible, it does happen.
