Asked if I wanted to "change settings"...and now my iPhoto is empty.

I was updating all my photos into iPhoto 6...and things were going well...until the application kept "unexpectedly quitting", but it would come right back and I would continue importing old pictures that I had saved in various places into the new version of iPhoto. I had over 2,800 photos imported when a message came up telling me that there were "new settings" and did I want to change my settings to match (or something like that)...generally that is a good thing (to update everything), so I clicked "OK". Suddenly, all 2,800+ pictures were no longer there...there were "0" photos. Some of the original "albums" were still listed on the right side...but they were empty. What a wasted evening of hard work. Anyone have any great cure for this. I did try restarting...iPhoto came up empty.

I'm not answering my own question...but I needed to add that after I sent the question, I "imported" into the iPhoto 6 from previous libraries on the computer. Now, instead of having 2,800+ photos (which disappeared); it is importing 6,680+ photos....probably doubles and triples of the original photos. So I guess this is a good thing...we'll see when it finishes importing in about an hour or so.
