Asked to re-add Existing Library

I set up itunes match earlier this week, after many days of uploaidng etc all seemed good.
Had to turn my imac off for a few hours today. When I booted this evening and went into itunes, no MAtch! I clicked enable, and it asked me if I wanted to add this computer to my itunes account!
Why???
It has already been added, in fact it is the only computer to be added.
Anyone else had this happen? I just want to know if its deleted my original match, or whether for some reason re-booting has casued match to think its a different computer.
Any ideas, and if there are any problems if this is the case.
Thanks

I ran into this when I created another library and signed into another itunes account on that library.  when I went back to my library, I had to sign out of the other itunes account in the store and resign back into mine.  I let match make it's run and everything showed up fine.  Check your itunes store id.  Make sure that it's the one you used for match.  then just let it do it thing and see if anything changes.
It actual removes all icloud stuff from your library when you sign out of your account in the store.  I don't like that.
I think they need to seperate the match sign in from the itunes store sign in.

    Hello gogreenj14,
If you had iTunes Match updated with all of your non iTunes purchased content already, then yes, when you enable iTunes Match with the following article it will have all the content that has been uploaded to iTunes Match will be available for download.
iTunes: How to add a computer or iOS device to iTunes Match
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4913
Open the latest version of iTunes on the computer you intend to add. You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Sign in with the Apple ID you use with iTunes Match.
Choose Store > Turn On iTunes Match.
Click the Add This Computer button.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
iTunes will automatically begin scanning your computer's library for matches.
A status indicator will allow you to track progress. You may also manually pause and resume the process at any time by clicking the Stop or Start button.
Once iTunes has completed matching and uploading your iTunes library, your music in iCloud will be integrated into your local music library. A download button will appear to the right of any content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

When I upload photos from iphoto or any other folder it overwrites all the existing photos in my ipad. is there a way to add to the existing library without deleting what's already in the library?

No, apart from using the emailing them, to yourself or using a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (in which case the photos will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album) or the camera connection kit (Imported album). You need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad in one go, as only the contents of the most recent sync remains on the iPad - not including photos in a sync is how you delete them from the iPad

  • Add new device to existing library

I just ordered a touch for my daughter Bday.
She has an ipod and associated itunes library now.
What do I need to do to add the touch to her existing library? Will there be a new or different itunes software?
She'll probably dump the old ipod for the touch, but my wife might want the old ipod, can the share the library, they will probably have a few differences in the music they like.
    Thanks

Not if you're already using the current iTunes version.

  • How to add a library (libSomeRandomlib.so) to a project....??

Ok, so I've been trying to get CERN's ROOT program/libraries to work in an xcode project for a while, but I'm running into one really weird error, and I think I may just not know how to add a library to a project correctly.
Suppose I create a new Xcode C++ command line tool project. I hit Build and go, and it gives me a nice little Hello World! in the console, just as it should. If I then click on the project in Groups & Files, go to Project>Add to Project..., and choose, say, libCint.so, from my root/lib directory, and click ok, then click Build & Go, I get an error in the console:
    dyld: Library not loaded: @rpath/libCint.so
    Referenced from: /Users/paulthompson/Documents/Programming/Build Products/Debug/LibraryIncludeTest
    Reason: image not found
    sharedlibrary apply-load-rules all
Data Formatters temporarily unavailable, will re-try after a 'continue'. (Cannot call into the loader at present, it is locked.)
My assumption is that either I'm missing a step in the process of adding a library, or else there is something jacked up with the libraries themselves. Anyone have any advice?
    Thanks,
    Paul
EDIT* Oh, I should mention that the actuall binary that gets built after adding the library WILL execute properly in the Finder, or from terminal, just not with the Build & Go, or Go commands from within xcode.

So, since I don't want to deploy with the environment variable set, I should ask, what IS the correct, MacOS X way to do it?
The best way to find that is to look at how Apple does it. They put frameworks in /System/Library/Frameworks and regular shared libraries in the standard places. You can do the same. Put your frameworks into /Library/Frameworks and your shared libraries into /usr/local-based paths.
If you want to create stand-alone executables that can be installed via drag-n-drop, you can put shared libraries inside the application bundle. If your shared libraries/frameworks are elsewhere, you will need some sort of installer to get them installed.
I've been sifting through Apple's developer documentation but I have yet to find a concise, straightforward explanation of how to add shared libraries. I'm horribly confused at this point. Is there a good tutorial available anywhere for both the general unix case of linking to dylibs and .so's, and the Mac specific case?
Hopefully someone else knows an answer for this one.
*EDIT* I do already have the variable defined both in ~/.MacOS/environment.plist and also in Xcode as an additional user variable.
I'm not sure about the whole RPATH thing. Setting environment.plist will define environment variables for use in the Finder, but that is really a hack. There are better ways to do it, but if you are porting some open-source programs, that may be the only way. You should be able to define those variables in Xcode. You have to selected the debug executable under "Exectuables"

  • New install not accessing existing library on D: drive.

My iTunes library is much larger than my entire SSD I use as a boot volume, so of course I keep it on a second internal hard drive labeled D:.
I just had my system corrupted and all backcup images not read by restore discs, so I had to wipe my C: SSD and re-install my Windows 7, 64-bit OEM from scratch.  Now, with a new install of iTunes, I can't seem to get it to recognize my existing library on my D: drive.  I've pointed it there in preferences both to the iTunes folder and the iTunes Library folder inside it on the drive.  I can open any individual item with iTunes separately and add that to my library separately, but no matter what, this thing just seems to ignore my existing content completely.  Nothing shows in my library within the program but the few nonsense songs that came with some software somewhere.
I at first thought it was finding my TV shows, but it turns out that was only on the cloud.  I don't want to depend on some cloud server for my content I've bought and paid for when I have it stored in redundant hard drives of my own.  I need this to access my content on the drive I've selected for it, including my existing content already there.

OK, I got the menu  bar open and found an article in "help" that said to drag the existing library folder into the iTunes window and that got my stuff into the software, but how can I be sure that new purchases go into the proper folder on my D: drive rather than into some C; drive location.  I have a terrabyte D: drive that is already red in Windows Explorer and still has more space left than this SSD I'm using as a C: drive had blank.

  • Itunes will not add to library some song I bought.

Itunes will not add to library some song I bought.  The PC is a new computer.  How do I fix this?

Diesel vdub asked a question which you have answered yourself, although you don't appear to realise it.
He/she (sorry diesel, I don't know) asked: "Is the song actually on the computer?" and you stated that: "I transfered all songs onto the new computer" and "I looked in the folder but the songs just cant be found" so the copy hasn't worked.
You also mention manually copying, as opposed to a previous (presumably different) method.
How are you trying to copy these songs? Do the copy first and make sure that works. If your first method doesn't work, try a diifferent one - such as the manual copy you referred to (copying onto a memory stick, card, disc etc. etc.)
Until you sort out why your method of copying hasn't worked, everything else you "try" is a waste of time.

  • Itunes and all my movies have disappeared,i can no longer add to library from my external hdd which ive always used and can only add from the laptops own hard drive, any ideas what the issue could be?

ive recently updated, itunes and all my movies have disappeared,i can no longer add to library from my external hdd which ive always used and can only add from the laptops own hard drive, any ideas what the issue could be?if i transfer the movies from the external to the laptop they will add to the library without any problem so theres no issue with the laptop but when i go to add file in itunes i can path to the external but as soon as i select the file nothing happens, just goes back to itunes

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • How do I split an existing library into multiple libraries?

I currently have ~95 GB of music and ~300 GB of movies in iTunes and I’ve stored all of it on an external hard drive. I’m getting a new Mac Book Pro with a 320 GB Hard Drive and I was hoping to migrate the music so it would be stored on the internal hard drive and leave the movies on the external.
I found a page on Apple’s web site (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/7.6/en/15499.html) that says,
“You can have more than one iTunes library.… you could use separate libraries to keep your music on your computer and your movies on an external hard disk.”
However it does not explain how to split the libraries once you’ve already got everything stored in the same place. I have a ton of playlists and other file info that I’m afraid of losing or messing up if I just simply move the folder. The “Consolidate Library” method is a great way to move the entire library from one location to another, but is there an easy way to move only certain parts of the library (i.e. just the music)? Is this change even advisable?
I’ve also tried to create a second library in my current computer (PowerBook running 10.4.11 and iTunes 8.0.2) just to see how it worked and noticed that iTunes Preferences only allowed for one location for the ‘iTunes music’ folder on the ‘Advanced’ Tab.
Put differently, I created 2 empty libraries, A & B. I changed the location of the music folder in the Advanced tab of preferences for B and closed the application. I then opened the application for library A and checked the preferences tab. The location for A’s music folder had now been changed to match B.
I must be misunderstanding something but it appears that you can have 2 separate libraries but they both must have the same preferences and be stored in the same folder and, hence, the same location. So how does that work if you want to continue to add music to the internal and add movies to the external?

    Hi Paulac303,
There are probably many ways to do this, but I know the following two methods work...
First of all, are you splitting your library down the middle, or just want a new iTunes library with a few of the old things in it?  The reason I ask is because that might decide which method is for you.
    (1) If splitting library roughly in half, then copy the original iTunes library to a new name.  Open iTune with the new library name via holding down the option key while opening iTunes --- eventually a menu opens that asks if you want to create a new library or choose an old one.  Choose the copy of your library.  When it opens, delete everything (highlight and press the delete key) you don't want in this library.  Quit iTune and open your original library and delete everything from it that you didn't delete in the copy.  You're done.
    (2) If you just want to add a few of your old things to a new library, then hold down the option key while opening iTune.  Once again the menu opens that asks if you with to create a new library or choose an old one.  Pick Create Library.  Then you can import any of your old songs/movies into your new library.  The actual music media files are typically located in the directory /Users/<yourusername>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/<artist>/<album>/<song> or perhaps in /Users/<yourusername>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/<artist>/<album>/<song>  Sometimes the <artist> directory is under a Collections/ directory, but you'll find what you want.  Just Add to Library the artists/albums/songs you want in your new library.  If you wish you can then open your old library and delete the items you transferred to the new one.
    Hope this helps,
    Switon

  • How to get existing library imported to new itunes install, old library was  not backed up or exported

How to get existing library imported to new itunes install, old library was not backed up or exported.  This occured due to Win 7 user profile was corrupt.

I know that in Mac OS X one can pick which library to use by holding down the option key while starting iTunes. What's the Windows equivalent?
    Press the Shift key.
WIll the fact that the music is now on another physical drive make a difference
    No.
I know the previous install is at least 7.0, but I have no idea about which point release.
Try checking the content of the iTunes Music Library.xml file.
Finally, what's the expected behaviour (or required procedure) with respect to reauthorization of this computer to use the same ITMS-purchased files?
You will be asked to reauthorize the computer.

  • Setting up allowance and new account: effect on access to existing library?

My teenage daughter has been downloading songs from iTunes to her laptop using my iTunes account information (i.e., logging in with my Apple ID and password).
She has my permission to do that, but she has now asked me to switch her to an iTunes allowance to help her limit her iTunes spending (amen to that).
    1) If the goal is to limit her to the allowance, do I need to assign the allowance to a (new) separate iTunes account -- i.e., create an account for her that she will use from now on, rather than continuing to use my account?
    2) If the answer is, "Yes, you need to create a new account for the allowance," will that limit her ability to access the songs in her existing library on her laptop, all of which were downloaded through my account? Will she have to log out of her account and log into mine to listen to her old music?

There's an answer to your question but first it's time for a little lecture - if it makes a difference, I don't feel any better about this than you do. ; - )
I hope you take this unfortunate state of affairs as an opportunity to learn a very important lesson: Back up your iTunes library as soon as you can after resolving this situation because right now you are only one glitch of your iPod away from losing your music entirely.
Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in just such situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
If you place any importance on your playlists and the data they depend on, make sure to include the iTunes Library files in your back-up regimen as well.
Anyways, that's the lecture. The answer to your problem should be found in Zevoneer's post .
Good Luck! But once you have the music back on your computer, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • Assign default content type to any library automactially when site get created or people add the library

we are on on premise environment, and we have a requirement that when people create a site or a sub site or even when they add a new document library , we want to ensure our custom content type is assigned as default content type to this library.
the question is that is there any non-full trust solution, i know we probably can do it via feature stapling, or custom site template stuff. but they are NOT considered as we want PLA compliance

    Hi,
As I understand, you would like to asscoiate a custom content type to a library when the library is created.
With OOB option, you could try add this content type to an existing library, and save library as template. Then the library template should appear in Your Apps page, that is to say, users can directly create document library based on this template.
As I tested, new document library created based on this template contains custom content type by default.
