Asking Certificate
After updating to the latest Safari 10.4.6...I started having problem of a pop-up window asking me to click: show certificate, cancel, or continue??
The window message is as follow:
"Safari can't verifry the identity of the website "XXXXXXXXX".
The certificate for this website is invalid. You might be connecting to a website that is pretending to be "XXXXXXX" which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the website anyway?"
This message appear on most of the site that needed my ID/PW, except hotmail.com.
I remember one time logging into my Mac...a security asking me to enter my admin. password for "Key Access".
I think I had done something to the Key Access panel???
Peter
Wow...it worked!!! Thanks...AlanNYC...I don't know should I kiss you or what???
I created another account and logged in..used Yahoo/godaddy....everything works and I can see all the icons..no more "Blue Questions Marks". I felt so free now....
Now, please AlanNYC...one last help...show me step by step where to click so I can go back to my old account and setting without deleting something important.
You mentioned..."Trash all your Safari preferences, caches, cookies, histories, etc etc etc and see if that helps. And run Disk Utility's "repair permissions" function."
1. Where is Safari Preferences....harddrive on desktop or Finder??
2. Do I log back into my old account to do this??
Thanks a million
Peter

Can any body map this business senario like in quality management view i actived procurement and i assigned controlkey and certificate type my query is when i do migo system ask certificate enclose if certificate is received mm guy will put yes other wise no if he put no system also allow migo but my client want some crytical material if certificate not received system should not allow goods receipt is it possible in SAP
Look in config at your COA types. Look at the COA definition. In here you'll find a field called "Control without certif."
In the drop down try selecting Key D - Without lot: Error message, with lot: Error message.
Usually when SAP says error message they mean a hard error. Otherwise the say warning. But sometime they use it in a generic way and you don't know if it is a hard error or soft error until you try it.
I can't remember if this will actually block the GR or not but this is where it is controlled.
If it works, you would need to create two certificate types. COA1 and COA2. COA1 would be set up to allow the receipt and COA2 would not allow, (if it works). Assign non-criticals to COA1 and criticals to COA2.
Your other option would be to use a user exit then.

There any way to re-sign the app developed with Adobe DPS?
Hi Everyone , I explain a problem that I have with DPS Single Edition ( it useful that is until May ) to see if anyone knows a solution. I have developed an app for a client , but the client wants to publish the app in Apple Developer with your name . How to export the .ipa or .zip Dps asks certificates Apple account and logically put mine ... (customer is a large company and I do not give me your passwords Apple etc ) you know if there any way they can re-sign the app ? As you do when you develop an app for a client who wants to publish on their own?
Ok they'll ask my client to send me those files.
With notifications no problem because the app does not.
With respect to Itunes connect and publication in the AppStore, will my client who is responsible for publishing the app, complete data etc. from their own.
Your help has been very helpful to me. -
Configuring CWA in distributed environment
Could you please elaborate the process how CWA works in distributed environment?
Thanks Neno for your response....
To implement CWA in distributed environment, we need to add Subject Alternative Names in the Certificate.
I have already gone through the steps given in BYOD design guide, but my concern is if I would by Third party CA certificate for ISE, in that case how would I able to achieve the same.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/solutions/Enterprise/Borderless_Networks/Unified_Access/byoddg.html
Would I need to ask Certificate vendor to add Subject Alternative Names? Will they do that? -
in material master quality management view i activate procurement and i assign certificate type when i do migo the system asked certificate is enclosed yes or no if i put yes the system should be allow for stockposting in qa11 if i put no the system should not allow for stock posting kindly guide what setting is require in this business senario.
In QCC0->QM in logistic>QM in proc>Define key for certi procs->Define Certificate Types>Control w/o certi>you can select with lot error message for lot received.
But this will give error in MIGO & not in stock posting.
You can use user exit in QA11 QEVA0010 UD: Usage decision check which well check in PO whether certificate is received or not. -

You were downloading an App, but as you were surprised by the novelty of the Alert Message (having downloaded Apps before), you were likely challenged about the Website from which you were downloading. What website was it?
Just because you were challenged does not mean - necessarily - that anything malicious happened.
Here's a brief explanation of Trusted Root Certificates and the list maintained by iOS...
iOS 8: List of available trusted root certificates
The iOS Trust Store contains trusted root certificates that are preinstalled with iOS.
About trust and certificates
the links immediately following jump to the target section in the source document iOS 8: List of available trusted root certificates - Apple Support
The iOS 8 Trust Store contains three categories of certificates:
Trusted root certificates are used to establish a chain of trust that's used to verify other certificates signed by the trusted roots, for example to establish a secure connection to a web server. When IT administrators create Configuration Profiles for iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, they don't need to include these trusted root certificates.
Always Ask certificates are untrusted but not blocked. When one of these certificates is used, you'll be prompted to choose whether or not to trust it.
Blocked certificates are believed to be compromised and will never be trusted.
This article lists the certificate trust policies for iOS, and is updated when changes are made to the certificate list. You can find the version of the Trust Store installed on your iOS device by tapping Settings > General > About. Scroll down to the bottom of the list to see the Trust Store version. This article lists the certificates for iOS Trust Store version 2014081900, which is current for iOS 8 and later.
The actual LIST follows in iOS 8: List of available trusted root certificates - Apple Support
Again, the important questions are:
?? What Website & What App ?? -
We just recently upgraded our equipment and now I don't get the whole screen parts are missing. So I figured if I delete certificates or renew them it might work. So I need to know How to delete them or renew them.
Among other things iTunes uses your credit card to confirm that you are a resident of the same country as the store you are using. Occasionally it may ask for you to confirm the details and "prove" the card by putting on a holding charge which it later releases. If you have credit in the store that should be applied to any purchases first, even if iTunes asks you to confirm your details. Your listed credit in the window can become out of date if you use more than one computer or device to make purchases. Signing out of your account, then back in, should refresh the balance.

Asking specific client certificate (not certificates trusted by authority)
As I understand from what I read so far, during the handshake negotiation for two way ssl, the server sends the client a list of trusted certificate authorities and say to the client: "hey, those are the authorities I trust. send me a certificate that can be verified by one of them".
I also read how you can customize SSLSocketFactory to, on the client side, look for a specific certificate alias (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-customssl/). I would like to move this idea further and ask for specific certificates depending on what resources the user is trying to access.
For example:
Let's suppose I have two resources on my server called "bobPrivateStuff" and "alicePrivateStuff". I also have a certificate authority who can validate both Bob and Alice certificates on a custom trust keystore. In a regular scenario, the server will ask for a client certificate and will accept either Alice or Bob certificate, as both can be verified by the custom trust.
But what if Alice can't access "bobPrivateStuff"? What if when trying to open a connection, to say http://myserver.com/services/bobPrivateStuff, the server asks specifically for Bob's certificate? Can I setup the handshake in a way it will actually ask for Bob's certificate instead of only just "any certificated trusted by this CA"?
And what piece of information could be used to distinguish one certificate from another? Is the serial number unique between multiple certificates? Is this pushing the envelop too much and trying to use SSL for more than what it is intended for?I agree 100%. It's just that we want to use certificates to validate the client's identity (instead of relying on username/password).Fine, that's exactly what SSL & PKI will do for you.
It might not be elegantBut it is!
See my point?Of course I see your point. SSL already does that. I said that. You agreed. I agree. What it doesn't do is the authorization part. Because it can't. It isn't meant to. You are supposed to do that.
Instead of the server asking for a specific certificate, it justs checks if the certificate sent by the client has access to the resource. Not quite. It should check if the identity represented by the client certificate (Certificate.getSubjectX500Principal(), or SSLSocket.getSession().getPeerPrincipal()) has access to the resource.
This way, we can leave the server untouchedNo you can't. The server has to get hold of the client principal after the handshake and authorize it against the resource.
if Bob wants to access some resources, Bob has to prove he is who he says he is.You're still confused. That's authentication, and SSL already does that for you. SSLSocket.getSession().getPeerPrincipal() returns you the authenticated identity of the peer. The server then has to check that that identity can access that resource. This is 'authorization'. You can't automate it via keystores and truststores. That's not what they do and it's not what they're for.
So I think it is perfectly plausible to do this kind of verification on the server side (i.e. "hijack" a certificate sent to validate the ssl handshake to also verify if the user has the correct privileges). There's no 'hijacking' about it, but you're concentrating on the certificate instead of the identity it represents. A client could have a large number of certificates that all authenticate the same identity. You need to think in terms of authorizing Principals to access resources. -
Keeps asking for Select a certificate or enter a name and password for network
everytime i start my mac it asks for "Select a certificate or enter a name and password for network" and when i'll close it and reopen it, it still asks.
can somebody help with what am i suppose to do?If you are currently showing WiFi status in the menu bar, you would see this icon:
If you see that near the top right corner, click it and choose "Join other network" from the drop down list.
If you do not see that icon, then go to System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu bar), ciick "Network", then choose "WiFi" and choose something (probably "Assist me" at the bottom) there. -
Safari is slow, crashes and asks for certificates
Safari is running very slow. The first page opens normally then every page after that it runs very slow and crashes some of the time. I am also getting a lot of notices for "unauthorised" cites and am being asking to verify certificates. These notices are for common pages like google and gmail.
I am also posting my post recent crash log.
Any advise would be very helpful.
Thank you.

Click: Update
If there's an update available, go ahead and install then restart your Mac and try Safari.
You need to empty the Safari cache also. Launch Safari. Hopefully it won't crash before you can do this.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Empty Cache.
Or... Option + Command + E on your keyboard.
Regarding certificates. Back to System Preferences / Date & Time then select the Date & Time tab.
Make sure: Set date and time automatically is selected.
Certificates won't be accepted without the correct date. -
When a site asks for a client certificate, not all certificates are presented.
At www.pkiuniversity.com/sandbox/index.php, I am asked for a client certificate. I get to choose from a list of the certificates issued by startcom but not my own. The extended key usage does mark it for client authentication. The root certificate corresponding to the signing private key is also in the store. Why don't these certificates pop up. They do in Safari.
If you're interested, I get my certificate from
reloid.com/enrollments/cheapcerts3/getcert.php?email=[email protected]
This is designed to be a very insecure certificate with no chance of being added to the built-in cache. -
I do not want to disable "ask me every time" option on Firefox even for a few seconds. I have searched for answers but nothing seems to be reasonable. One option was for me to create my own certificate and hope Firefox will pick that certificate if I disable the "ask me" (very iffy). Is there no way to get rid of this other than deleting Firefox?
Do you mean this?
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Encryption: Certificates: "When a web site requires a certificate": "Ask me every time"
Check out why the site is untrusted (click "Technical Details to expand that section) and if this is caused by a missing intermediate certificate then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate. -
Browser does not ask to accept a certificate for an applet
I wanted to write an applet that enables the user to access the local file system. On the internet i found the following resource:
[http://www.captain.at/programming/java/] which actually is great. So i followed the instructions on the page an everything works fine. My file structure looks like this
fileEditApplet
Index.html
subfolder "fileEditApplet" contains the files
->fileEditAppletKey.crt
->Compile.bat
->LocalFile.class
->localfile.jar
->LocalFile.java
So my compile.bat looks like this:
javac LocalFile.java
jar cvf LocalFile.jar LocalFile.class
jarsigner LocalFile.jar fileEditAppletKey.crtWhen i compile the applet the system asks me to enter the passwort for the key i genearted following the instructions on the webpage. Everything works fine. Now, i want to open the Index.html in my Firefox Browser. The applet loads fine nothing to complain about. But firstly, i notice that i'm not asked to accept any certificate which i do not understand. Then, i try to open a simple text file and on the Java console i get the following error message:
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-4" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission C:\Programme\Mozilla Firefox\install.log read)
at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
...Seems as if the certificate is not accepted or seen in any way. I do not know what i have to alter to get this running.Hi toom,
I'm having a few applet problems myself, but I noticed in my testing that when the server hosting the page/applet is on the same LAN, it doesn't ask me for a certificate.
Basically, I put the page with the applet and the .jar on my webspace given by my ISP and, as expected, it always asks me to accept a certificate.
However, when i put the page with the applet and the .jar on a server on my LAN it never asks me to accept a certificate.
So I'm guessing that because the .jar is on a local network the browser ignores any security.
Hope this helps! -
Website worked this morning and then I had trouble opening Firefox and no websites would open.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
